Part 13: Okita Alter (Part 3)
"Who are you?!" Demon King Nobunaga demanded, her sword clashing with Okita's.
"...Ah. Okita Souji Alter. I might have guessed," Ryoko Asakura nodded. "And also..." Her head turned slightly, watching Hijikata Toshizou charging at her... "Freeze Program," she intoned with an outstretched hand, the berserker suddenly stopping as if frozen in time. "How typical, predictable behavior from a Berserker-class servant."
"Okita Souji...? Ah, now I see," Demon Nobu said as she broke the blade lock and backed off, a slight smile on her face. "Well, this could prove to be entertaining..."
"I am not here to entertain you," Okita Alter stated sternly. "I am the one who cleaves demons, pierces gods, and manages the prayers of men. I am Majin Okita Souji, Alter Ego-class."
"You're an Alter Ego? Does that mean you can defeat this Nobunaga?" Haruhi asked fairly.
"Hell no! I'm not letting this Okita steal my thunder!" the archer Nobunaga cut in, firing off several muskets at her counterpart, who deflected a few with her blade and dodged the rest.
"I admit this servant's strength is impressive by normal standards," Ryoko said, "but still insufficient to defeat the true Demon King of Sixth Heaven."
"That's what you think, Foreigner," Okita Alter said calmly. "Now look and see for yourself..." She closed her eyes, concentrating, her body glowing with power...
(Music- 'Teito Seihai Kitan', Fate/Grand Order)
"What? Her magical energy is skyrocketing!" Asakura gasped... then there was a blinding light that engulfed the area, which faded to reveal that all present had been transported to a white void. "What is this...?! I'm cut off from the ISDE?! -Gah!" She held up a hand to stop the now-unfrozen Hijikata's blade, though her hand bled from the sword cutting her skin. "It can't be...!"
"...Though I am reluctant to cut down such a pretty face," the vice-captain began, "if you are the one who is my enemy, I will not hesitate! For the Shinsengumi!"
"Argh!" Asakura cried as she dodged another slice from the berserker, her combat knife appearing in her uninjured hand, which quickly lengthened and transformed into a proper katana, parrying Hijikata's follow-up attack! "How could this have happened?! What ARE you?!" she yelled to Okita Alter.
"Snk-! Huh?!" Okita suddenly jerked and opened her eyes. "N, no, I wasn't sleeping! (ahem) That is, I have been empowered by the Counter Force to strike down this singularity once and for all!"
"What?! Another Counter Force Guardian?!" Kazuradrop gasped. "And I... made you stronger... Oh, NO!"
"Oh, yes," Okita Alter nodded. "Originally, I was summoned with an incomplete Saint Graph, because my duty was to simply explode and annihilate the singularity utterly if Sakamoto Ryouma failed. But now, thanks to you and Master, that will no longer be necessary... for I can now simply strike down the enemy with my own two hands!"
"So that's why you were so weak when we first met..." Ritsuka realized.
"Impossible! How could we have miscalculated so badly?!" Ryoko cried as she continued to defend herself from Hijikata's assault.
"Looks like the joke's on you, Drop!" came BB's voice, the woman herself appearing from a data spiral a moment later. "Actually, that Heroic Spirit Soldier was meant to be a distraction, but I suppose there's no more point in hiding now that the tables have turned~"
"NO! I won't allow this! This world is MINE to conquer!" Demon Nobunaga bellowed, engulfed in a flaming aura. "En garde, Okita Souji! I will burn you to ashes myself!" She immediately went on the attack again, Okita easily parrying her blade!
"BB, help Hijikata against Asakura!" Ritsuka ordered.
"Gladly! It's payback time, you bitch!" BB said as her eyes glowed red, firing a Sakura Beam at Ryoko who barely dodged.
"What about me?!" Archer Nobu complained.
"Well, don't you want to get Kazuradrop back for betraying you and killing Nobukatsu?" Haruhi pointed out.
"...Oh yeah! Alright, you little midget, time for Nobu's revenge!" the archer grinned savagely, immediately charging at Kazuradrop.
"Oh, crap! Bug Space!" the little Alter Ego intoned, Nobu suddenly finding herself in a black void...
"Oh no, not THIS time!" Nobu growled, several muskets shooting in all directions, shattering the Bug Space. "Did you really think that would work on me a second time?!"
"Aaaah!" Drop cried in terror, barely catching Nobu's katana between her hands. "Asakura, a little help here?!"
"Kinda busy!" Ryoko shot back, still trying to deal with two servants at once.
"Too bad for you, traitor!" Nobu laughed, kicking Drop in the gut, making her double over in pain. She then summoned a musket, but instead of firing it, she slammed Drop in the head with the butt of the rifle, causing the Alter Ego to collapse unconscious. "There. I'll leave your punishment to the Masters!"
"Good work, Nobu!" Haruhi nodded, pointing at Kazuradrop, who was suddenly bound with heavy chains! "That'll keep her from trying anything else! Now help Okita Alter with the other Nobu!"
"You got it!" the archer grinned savagely, firing her gun as a few more muskets materialized and were shot as well, hitting Demon Nobu in the back, distracting her enough for Okita to slash her in the stomach, drawing blood!
"Gah! Damn you!" Demon Nobu cried in rage, intense flames blazing up around her, forcing Okita Alter to retreat. She then summoned her gatling gun, firing at her counterpart, who summoned several more floating muskets, using them as stepping-stones to dodge most of the gunfire, only getting winged a few times!
Meanwhile, Ryoko Asakura had managed to recover somewhat, using floating metal spears to keep BB at bay while locking blades with Hijikata. "Even cut off from the IDSE, I'm still superior to both of you!" she yelled defiantly.
"I wouldn't be too cocky if I were you!" BB taunted back, before twirling and transforming into her sexy nurse outfit. "Time to take your medicine- the bitter pill of defeat!"
"You think I don't know about your Cursed Cupid Cleanser?!" Ryoko grunted, seeing a giant syringe flying at her from behind, moving one of her spears to intercept-, only for the syringe to dissolve into 1s and 0s! "An illusion?!" She parried a cut from Hijikata, before managing to kick him in the groin and finally break off, just as another giant syringe stuck into the spot where she had just been. "I won't be fooled!" she cried, using her katana and spears to destroy several more illusory syringes.
"Argh!" Hijikata grunted as he pulled himself back into a sitting position. "The Shinsengumi does not abide such dirty tactics!" Grabbing his musket, he fired at Asakura, managing to graze her shoulder and take off a piece of her school uniform! Ryoko immediately retaliated with a metal spear that pierced through the berserker's torso- only to gasp from a small prick of pain. She looked down-
-to see a normal-sized syringe that had pierced her leg just above the foot. "Don't you know size doesn't matter?" BB's eyes glowed red as she grinned sinisterly in triumph, before clenching her hand, the syringe promptly injecting its contents into the interface!
"It can't be!" Ryoko gasped, before crying out in agony as her body swelled up horrifically, then blew apart in a shower of blood, guts and gore! Thankfully her remains dissolved into 1s and 0s soon afterward...
"Ugh! That was totally unnecessary, BB!" Haruhi critiqued, her stomach churning slightly. Fortunately Ritsuka had covered his eyes when he realized what was about to happen.
"Well, ex-cuuuuse me! How was I supposed to know she'd die Mortal Kombat Fatality-style like that?!" BB shot back, reverting to her normal attire. "That's the first time I've managed to kill an alien interface, okay? Sheesh! Anyway... Domina Cornam!" She waved her riding crop/wand at Hijikata, a green aura enveloping him, his spear wound closing up. "All right, time for the last boss! Let's get that fake Nobunaga!"
"Fake?! FAKE?!" Demon Nobunaga screeched in fury. "I am the TRUE Demon King of Sixth Heaven! None of you can compare to me!" She rose into the air, the giant skeleton appearing once more... "Papiyas Reborn- Demon King of the Myriad Heavens!" she cried, as hellfire once again rained down on the party, striking down Hijikata, BB and the archer Nobunaga, Haruhi barely managing to protect herself and Ritsuka with a forcefield! "Now is my superiority clear to you?"
"How does she still have so much power in this space?!" Haruhi grunted.
"The Holy Grail! She must have it!" Ritsuka realized. "Asakura must have used all its power when creating her...!"
"Do not worry, Master," Okita Alter assured him. "I will strike down this enemy, and resolve this singularity!"
"All by your lonesome? I would love to see you try!" Demon Nobu grinned.
"Ask and you shall receive! Prepare for defeat, Oda Nobunaga!" Okita vowed, glowing with power, the red parts of her uniform suddenly glowing white... "Erm, was was its name again...? Wait, I know! Zekken- Mukyuu Sandan!" She thrust her sword forward, a massive beam of black energy suddenly erupting from the blade!
"Wh- oh SHIT!" Nobunaga cried in horror, no time to react as the beam nailed her dead-on, screaming in agony as her torso was pierced through, being thrown back a significant distance! As she collapsed to the floor, a cracked Holy Grail fell down a fair distance behind her, before crumbling to dust and vanishing.
"Whoa!" Ritsuka gasped in disbelief and awe.
"Wow... she blasted the Grail right out of her!" Haruhi observed.
"Im... impossible..." Demon Nobu rasped as she began to fade away. "A beam attack... Okita Souji... never had... a beam attack..."
(music fades out)
"And that is why you lost," Okita Alter stated, sheathing her nodachi. "The best attack is the one the enemy never sees coming..." With that, the white void faded away, leaving the group standing among the rubble of Mitsuhide's headquarters. "It's done. The threat to the Human Order is neutralized."
"And the Shinsengumi have claimed victory!" Hijikata appended.
"It should have been me..." the archer Nobunaga grunted as she made her way to her fallen counterpart. "But at least... I'll get a consolation prize..." Kneeling down, she gently picked up Demon Nobu's head in her hands...
Sensing her intent, the avenger managed a grin... "I guess... it can't be helped..." Suddenly a pillar of flame blazed up around the two, the rest of the party immediately on guard... Soon the flames dissipated, revealing what appeared to be Demon Nobunaga standing alone... "HA! Hahahahaha! It worked!" She then turned to face Ritsuka and Haruhi. "Hey, relax you guys, it's me! I'm just sexy as hell now!"
"You merged the avenger Nobu's essence with your own?!" Haruhi realized. "Well, let's hope that doesn't bode ill for us down the road..."
"No using hellfire in your pranks!" Ritsuka ordered.
"Please, like I would wanna seriously injure my comrades in Chaldea!" Nobunaga grinned. "I can't wait to see the look on our Okita's face when she sees my new look!"
"Well, looks like all's well that ends well!" Ryouma Sakamoto suddenly popped up, Oryou appearing behind him a moment later.
"Huh?!" Haruhi gasped. "Wait, I thought you were defeated!"
"Ah-hahaha..." Ryouma grinned sheepishly. "We just kind of faked our deaths so we could get that evil Nobu with a surprise attack if Okita fell..."
"Oryou is still really sore, though..." Oryou groaned. "Master, when does Oryou get her jumbo frogs?"
"When we get back to Chaldea, okay?" Haruhi sighed.
"And what about me?!" everyone turned to see an enraged Izo make his way up to the group. "I get buried in rubble and miss all the action?! Why didn't you dig me out?!"
"...Oh. I forgot," Okita Alter averted her gaze.
"Yeah, we were so focused on the battle, we kinda forgot about you," Ryouma said in mild embarrassment.
"Hey, why don't you come back with us to Chaldea?" Haruhi suggested. "You'll have plenty of opportunities to unleash your sword skills in battle over there!"
"Really...?" Hearing that seemed to take the edge off Izo's anger. "Well, as long as I don't have to bunk with Ryouma here, fine."
"Hm. Well, it seems my time is up," Hijikata said as he began to glow. "Captain Okita, it was an honor to fight alongside you once more! Carry on the will of the Shinsengumi!" With that, he faded away completely.
"It seems my time is up as well," Okita Alter sighed as she also began to glow. "But, with my unstable Saint Graph, I don't believe I will return to the Throne, or the Counter Force... This was supposed to be my final icon, after all. Surely, nothing will remain for me..." She then smiled at Ritsuka. "But I'm glad I was able to serve you, Master..."
"Ohhh no you don't!" Nobunaga yelled as she suddenly leapt and grabbed Okita in a tight embrace! "After helping me overcome that fake me, and giving me a hot new body?! You're not going anywhere until I can repay my debt!" She then shouted to the sky, "Da Vinci, hurry up and bring us back! Have that alien Yuki help you if you have to!"
"No need to shout, Nobu," Da Vinci's voice was heard.
"All targets locked on. Commencing Rayshift," Yuki's voice spoke, the entire group being recalled...
*Mission Control*
As soon as Nobu found herself back in Chaldea, she dragged the glowing Okita over to Yuki... "Her Saint Graph's about to collapse! Do something!"
"Understood," Yuki nodded, placing a hand on the Alter Ego, speaking in a warbling sound... then Okita Alter stopped glowing. "Done. I have managed to stabilize her Saint Graph for the time being, however, she is still physically frail. Be gentle with her."
Nobunaga heaved a sigh of relief. "Alright, fine. Thanks, alien... er, Yuki. You're a hell of a lot better than that other one!"
"...Thank you," Yuki said after a moment, though her expression looked conflicted. "On that note, I must apologize, Suzumiya-san. I knew that Asakura-san was involved with that singularity, but was forbidden from informing you or intervening directly..."
"I was just as shocked to see her as you were," Kyon spoke up, walking up to Yuki's side. "I don't think you can blame Nagato-san for something she had no real control over..."
"...That's true," Haruhi nodded. "Well, I can forgive you, Yuki... but you'd better tell your bosses not to pull a stunt like this again. Or else."
"Understood. Message received," Yuki responded.
"Um, has this happened before?" Bazett spoke up.
"Once, after the Camelot singularity," Kyon replied. "Although, Asakura was directly testing the abilities of Fujimaru-san and his servants... they prevailed, but barely. That's how Nagato-san ended up joining Chaldea."
"To be fair, Ryoko Asakura actually assisted us in another minor singularity, but mostly because a rival alien faction was involved," Da Vinci added.
"I wouldn't be surprised if she helped just to get revenge on Kuyou Suou," Kyon sighed.
"So this is Chaldea, huh?" Sakamoto Ryouma spoke up. "Looks pretty advanced... might take some gettin' used to."
"As long as Oryou gets her frogs, Oryou doesn't care," Oryou stated bluntly.
"Well, at least you didn't leave me behind this time," Izo grumbled. "This doesn't look like a military base to me... you better not have been pulling my leg! My blade wants blood, damn it!"
"Don't worry, Okada-san, you'll get your chance soon enough," Da Vinci assured him. "But first, we need to get you and the other new arrivals settled in..."
"Fine, but I'm not gonna bunk with the traitor here! Got it?"
"Oryou wants to share a room with Ryouma," Oryou said.
"Shouldn't be a problem... as long as you keep things quiet," Da Vinci gave a teasing wink.
"...What." Oryou tensed up, her pupils shrinking to pinpricks.
"Um, probably not a good idea to tease her like that," Ryouma tried to defuse the situation.
"Here, Oryou," Haruhi conjured a large (dead) frog. "Have a jumbo frog..." The orochi girl immediately flew over and grabbed the frog, her jaw seemingly dislocating as she swallowed it whole without chewing. "Um, next time try to wait until you're somewhere not in public..."
"Or at least take time to savor it," Kyon snarked.
"Oryou doesn't know what 'savor' means..."
"Obviously not."
"Nobu!" a voice called out, Chaldea's Okita Souji dashing into the room. "Did you find Nobu, Master? Is she all right?!"
"Take it easy, Okita, I'm right here," Nobunaga strode up to the saber, smirking at the fact she now stood taller than her rival.
"...Huh?!" Okita's eyes shrank to pinpricks. "Y, you're not Nobu! Or at least not the one I know!"
"...Oh, fine," Nobu sighed, fire briefly blazing up around her, which faded to reveal her original appearance. "Recognize me now, Souji?"
"Oh! It is you!" Okita gasped, before glomping the other woman in a grateful embrace. "Thank goodness... when you vanished without a trace, I feared the worst...!" She then finally noticed her tanned counterpart. "Huh...?! Is that... me?!"
"Yes, I am Majin Okita Souji Alternative," Okita Alter introduced herself. "...Perhaps that name is a bit much."
"But... why are you taller and bustier than me?" Okita pondered... before gasping as something came to her. "Oh, no! Nobu, is that why you changed your appearance? To impress this prettier me... and bring her back with you?! How could you...?!" She turned and ran off sobbing, accompanied by a few coughs from her tuberculosis...
"Wh- Okita-chan! That's not-! Come back here!" Nobu cried as she gave chase. "It's not what you think, I swear...!"
"...Um, what was that all about?" Okita Alter asked in utter confusion.
"Let's just say this Okita and Nobu are all but lovers," Haruhi sighed... then her head turned as the sound of a resounding (smack!) was heard, seeing BB bringing up a hand to her reddening cheek. "Yuki...?"
"While I understand that Asakura-san's defeat was necessary, your method of execution was cruel and unusual, even if you did not intend as such," Yuki reprimanded the moon cancer. "I would strongly advise you to use your Self-Modification skill to ensure such a violent death does not occur again. Understood?"
"Yeah, that WAS a bit gruesome, BB," Ritsuka nodded in concurrence.
"Right, right..." BB sighed. "I miscalculated, I thought she would just be deleted like a program from the Moon Cell..."
"Actually, I remember Nagato-san telling Sisigou that her body was fully organic, despite being a data-based life form," Bazett pointed out. "It only follows that her fellow alien would be the same..."
"Duly noted. For Senpai's sake, I'll modify my Cursed Cupid Cleanser so that doesn't happen again," BB sighed. "Now, if you'll excuse me..." She walked over to the bound Kazuradrop, who was just beginning to regain consciousness... "Rise and shine~," she sing-songed, pulling the Alter Ego up by her hair.
"Uuuuhhh... Huh...?" Drop's eyes blinked opened, looking upward and focusing on BB's face, said eyes immediately shrinking to pinpricks. "Uh, why, hello, Mother dearest," she gave a nervous grin.
BB just smirked back as her eyes glowed red. "Two words, Drop: Punishment Time."
"...Meep." Drop's smile became extremely forced, one eye twitching in palpable fear...
