The Alpha Gang's ship neared the large rock that was ahead of them. The various members aboard the ship clutched onto something on the ship to brace themselves for the impact.
"Turn the ship!" Max called to Dr. Z
"Right! Turning left!" Dr. Z replied. He spun the captain's wheel to rotate the ship to the right. However, the ship wasn't turning quick enough.
"We're not going to make it!" Rex exclaimed.
"Ed, do something! This is your ship!" Ren told the Alpha Gang member.
"Right!" Ed responded as he went up to a pipe that led to where the Alpha Droids, Ursula, and Zander were rowing and shouted down the tube. "Reverse!"
The Alpha Droids, Ursula, and Zander flipped around on their seats and began to row the ship in the opposite direction.
"Row faster Alpha Droids!" Ed called down the pipe. Suddenly, the ship came to a halt with a mighty shake as the momentum of the ship had come to a complete stop.
Beneath the deck, Ursula and Zander were exhausted. The sunk door towards the floor with a sigh of relief. The Alpha Droids also seemed to be exhausted.
"I'm exhausted. They're making us work to the bone," Zander complained.
"I want worker's compensation," Ursula whined.
"Recharge and get ready to go," The Alpha Droids chimed. Ursula and Zander groaned knowing that they would have to get right back to work.
It didn't take long for the Alpha Gang's ship to be on the move again. They maneuvered around the large rock and continued after Blackbeard's ship. It was easier to do know after the fog subsided. Ursula and Zander came up from the lower deck to take a break since they had almost caught up with Blackbeard's ship. Max found a telescope lying around and aimed it towards Blackbeard's ship which he could barely see in the distance. Through the looking glass, Max saw Jim tied up talking to Copper and Blackbeard. It wasn't really talking, it looked as if they were more or less yelling at each other.
"I can see them. It looks like he's okay," Max informed the others.
"Yeah at least for now he is," Rex replied.
"Something's left their boat," Zoe said. She had her camera goggles pulled down over her eyes and had them zoomed in on Blackbeard's ship. It was true the shape had wings and was heading their direction.
"What is it?" Gabriel asked from the other end of the intercom.
"Is it one of those Space Pirates?" Ren asked.
"It's a bird!" Ursula said.
"It's a plane!" Ed chimed in.
"It's a parrot! Which is also a bird," Zander told them. It was true, Blackbeard's parrot had flown to the Alpha Gang's ship and perched itself on Dr. Z's head.
"Am I out of shape," The parrot complained. The bird composed itself before it looked towards the D-Team. "Ok here's the deal. Exchange the other half of the map for the annoying kid."
"No way, we're not giving you the rest of the map!" Max glared at the parrot.
"Let's hear them out," Gabriel said.
"The drop point is over on the beach," The parrot instructed. It pointed with its wing to a nearby island. "If you don't bring the map, the kid walks the plank."
The parrot flapped its wings and took off before the D-Team or the Alpha Gang could say anything back to it. There was no negotiation, no room for interjection.
"If we don't give them the map, they're going to make Jim walk the plank, you guys," Rex told the D-Team.
"Yeah, I heard the bird," Ren grumbled. "Honestly, serves the kid right for not knowing what the word 'no' means."
"Ren, you don't mean that," Gabriel told her through the speaker.
"I know Jim's a little clingy and doesn't know what personal space is, but we can't let Blackbeard make him walk the plank. He may act tough, but he would be doomed if he had to walk the plank," Zoe told her friend.
"I suppose you're right," Ren sighed. "Let's make the trade."
"But if they get the map, they'll get the treasure for sure. Then, they might make Jim walk the plank anyway," Max reminded them.
"But they might do what they say and let him go," Zoe said.
"They did say that the drop point was on a beach," Ren added.
"I say we take our chances and give them the map. Then, we follow them," Rex planned. "After all, they know where our parents are."
"Not quite, the Space Pirates know where our parents are along with the stolen dinosaurs. However, if the Space Pirates are working with Blackbeard, then this will be our best lead," Ren told her brother.
"We can worry about the jewel when we find it. If Blackbeard gets it first all we gotta do is take it from them," Zoe said with determination.
"Yeah, you're right. Let's go," Max agreed.
The D-Team and the Alpha Gang made their way over to the beach where the parrot told the D-Team to go if they wanted to trade their half of the map for Jim. The D-Team unloaded themselves from the boat and stepped onto the beach.
"Time to get rich! Time to get rich!" The parrot squawked as it flew around Copper before landing on his shoulder. As the D-Team approached Ren noticed a couple of figures missing and leaned into the rest of her team.
"Where's the dense guy and the short stack?" Ren whispered to them.
"Must've went running back into hiding after they were defeated," Rex responded.
"Maybe they're sending out another space pirate soon," Zoe theorized.
"I don't see Jim either," Ren told the rest of the D-Team.
"We have our half of the map. Now, where is Jim?" Max questioned Blackbeard and his pirates. Blackbeard nodded a signal toward his men and one of the lackeys pushed through the crowd with Jim bound up with ropes by his side.
"Don't make the trade! Don't give them the map!" Jim hollered to the D-Team.
"But they'll make you walk the plank!" Max tried to reason with the boy.
"So, we have a deal then," Copper smirked at the D-Team.
"We do," Rex agreed. Jim's eyes widened at the words.
"No!" Jim tried to retort.
"Let's go, kid," Copper told Jim as he dragged Jim along with a rope that was tied to the rope Jim was wrapped up in. Jim reluctantly followed as he was led along by Copper. Max took the half of their map from Ren and walked out to meet Copper halfway. Max handed the half map to Copper, who snatched it from Max's hands.
"Treasure for us, loser kid for you. Here," Copper said as he pulled the rope and made Jim fall forward and do a faceplant in the sand. Jim hopped back up onto his feet again.
"Give us back the map," Jim tried to charge in at Copper, even though his hands were still tied behind his back. Copper stopped the kid's efforts and pushed him back down into the sand.
"Jim are you okay?" Max asked as he helped Jim off the ground.
"Treasure for us, loser kid for you!" The parrot echoed as the pirates returned to their ship. Jim refused Max's help and got up on his own. Max was almost stunned when Jim walked right past him without saying a word. He continued walking past Rex and even past Ren.
"Jim are you alright?" Zoe asked the boy.
"Seeing you, Zoe, makes everything alright," Jim responded.
"Woah, this guy's weird," Max told Rex and Ren.
"He keeps jumping back and forth, doesn't he?" Rex added.
"And we traded our half of the map for him," Ren sighed.
Blackbeard and his pirates were sailing into the sea. The clouds overhead drew dreary and grey. The waves gained height. The wind howled.
"A storm's a comin'!" One of the Blackbeard's lackeys informed the rest of the crew.
"Awaiting orders, Captain," Copper looked towards Blackbeard. The pirate captain looked at the two halves of the map in his hands and placed them together.
"Since we have to sail through treacherous waters, we shall wait for the storm to pass," Blackbeard told Copper.
"Aye," Copper nodded before he turned out towards the crew. "Men! Take in the sails!" The order echoed as crewmembers repeated it across the ship as they began to furl the sails up so the wind would not carry the boat away. Just then, a lanky figure appeared on the side of the boat. It was never clear how he got there, but he presumably flew given by the leathery, blue wings on his back.
"What kind of pirate are you, taking in the sails when there's treasure to be found?" Foolscap questioned Blackbeard as the winged monster sat on the edge of the ship.
"Say what? I'm Blackbeard, the greatest pirate of them all," Blackbeard snarled at Foolscap.
"Then why are you letting a little storm stop you from discovering the greatest treasure of all?" Foolscap sneered and pointed out at the clouded sky. "You know what, tell me this 'Greatest Pirate of All Time,' have you ever heard the story of the space turtle and the space hare?"
"A space hare and a turtle?" Blackbeard cocked an eyebrow, and he crossed his arms.
"The point I'm trying to make is those kids are fast like a hare, and steady as a turtle, and probably not afraid of a little storm," Foolscap told Blackbeard.
"You're saying they'll get to the treasure first? Impossible!" Blackbeard growled.
"That can't happen, we're the only ones with a full treasure map!" Cooper added. Foolscap turned towards Blackbeard's second-in-command.
"Why take a chance with such valuable treasure?" The space pirate asked as he flew over to join Blackbeard and Copper by their sides. "Unless the Greatest Pirate of All Time is afraid of a little windy wind and a little rainy rain."
"I am afraid of nothing!" Blackbeard howled as he pointed an accusatory finger at Foolscap.
"But Captain, the storm-" Copper began before Blackbeard cut him off.
"The storm is the one who should be afraid of me!" Blackbeard yelled. "Now all men on deck! We're setting sail for Treasure Island!"
"Aye! Aye!" Copper replied. He turned to the rest of the crew. "Unfurl the sails! We're off!"
"Blackbeard's ship is on the move," Max informed the rest of the D-Team as he lied down on the beach and watched the ship through a telescope. Jim was knelt down beside Max while Rex, Ren, and Zoe watched from behind. Max and Jim stood up.
"I think we gathered that. We don't need that telescope to see the ship, Tri Horns." Ren said as she pointed to the ship with her thumb. Max chuckled and scratched the back of his head.
"I knew that," Max insisted.
"But if that ship is moving, then we should get moving too. We have to follow them," Jim told the others.
"No, we should lay back and tail them from a distance," Rex interjected.
"But if the wind shifts, we'll lose them, and then we'll never get the jewel," Jim tried to plead.
"Jim, you're forgetting that we have that advanced radar system. We can track them no matter where they go," Zoe reminded.
"I don't trust that thing," Jim huffed and clenched his fists. "If Blackbeard gets to the gem first, my village will be lost, and my father... they're holding him..." Jim's face went from sorrow to a scowl as he turned to Max. "I can't believe you were dumb enough to give Blackbeard our half of the map!"
"Hold on! We gave Blackbeard our half of the map to save you! Which we wouldn't have had to do if you didn't get caught by him in the first place!" Max retorted. "Besides, you're not the only one who needs to rescue his dad. Me, Zoe, Ren, and Rex all need to rescue our parents too!"
Jim was taken back by the sudden outburst from Max. He looked from Max to Zoe, then to Ren and Rex. They all had the same melancholy look on their faces after Max mentioned their parents. Jim felt bad that he just made the situation entirely about himself and forgot that everybody there was in the same boat.
"And those space pirates also have a couple friends of ours on top of that," Ren added as she thought about Ebony and Chomp who were claimed by the space pirates.
"Oh... I forgot," Jim admitted. "I'm sorry... okay?"
"Of course, we all make mistakes," Zoe told Jim.
"Anyway, this is no time for us to be fighting," Rex regathered the group's train of thought. "We have to stick together. It's the only way for us to find the treasure before Blackbeard."
The rest of the team nodded. Rex was right. They needed to head out to find the treasure first.
The next thing that the D-Team knew, they were on the Alpha Gang's ship chasing after Blackbeard. Max was just leaving the captain's quarters where the radar resided.
"We're falling further and further behind you know," Max told Dr. Z.
"Like us pirates say, a wind that dies down must eventually pick up," Dr. Z told the boy as he continued to steer the ship.
"Literally no one says that," Ren replied.
"Well, what do you know about being a pirate? No one questions the all-knowing Whitebeard!" Dr. Z screeched.
At the front of the ship, Ursula stood with her arms out straight with Zander holding her from behind, Titanic style. Ursula took in a deep breath of the salted air.
"I feel like a jet plane flying through the sky," Ursula said.
"Not unless I let go, then you're going to be feeling more like a fish swimming through the water," Zander told her.
"Hey, Ursula, you just have me an amazing idea!" Ed chirped as he skipped over to a pipe that led to below the deck where the Alpha Droids were rowing the ship. "Switch on the jets!"
"Hold on, there are jets on this ship?" Zoe asked.
"We might want to hang on," Max told the others. Everyone grabbed onto something. Just then, the ship began to rumble. The crew felt themselves lifting upwards as two massive jets emerged from the bottom of the ship. Their engines were roaring. In a flash, they flicked on and shot the ship through the water like a torpedo. The crew began screaming with adrenaline.
"Where did he get this stuff?" Zander exclaimed as he and Ursula struggled to hold onto the banister at the front of the ship.
"Well, he better not have put it on my charge card!" Dr. Z threatened.
"Don't worry! I put it on Zander's!" Ed declared gleefully.
The storm was brewing more overhead. The waters grew rougher. For Blackbeard and his crew of pirates, they struggled to stay aboard while they sailed in the direction of the island. The only one that wasn't having troubles with the rocking boat was Foolscap, who had perched himself on the mast with his back against the center post.
"Mateys, hang on tight!" One of the crewmembers encouraged as he, himself, clutched onto the trunk of the mast. Blackbeard's parrot sent soaring through the air, unable to control where he was flying.
"Too windy for me! Too windy for me!" The parrot squawked. Luckily for the bird, Copper grabbed him by his scaley feet. The second-in-command turned to Blackbeard as he braced himself on the floorboards.
"The storm's picking up! Captain, sir! I'm worried about the safety of the ship!" Copper yelled over the harsh winds of the storm.
"What do you mean, sugar caddy? It's just a little wind," Blackbeard replied. The pirate continued to steer the ship through treacherous waters that were caused by the storm.
From his perch on the mast, Foolscap smirked down on all of the human pirates were who struggling to maintain the ship with the storm. The sail flapped wildly behind him.
"Land ho! The island's up ahead!" Blackbeard called out to his crew.
"Ship ho! Up the Artic!" One of the crewmates of the ship called out. Blackbeard and Copper rushed to the side of the ship to look over the side. Their faces turned into scowls as they realized that they recognized this ship as the one that belonged to the kids.
"What?" Blackbeard growled.
"It's those kids!" Copper stated the obvious. As the two watched the ship, they realized that the opposing ship was coming in quickly towards them.
"How are they doing that? They're quicker than the wind!" Blackbeard exclaimed.
"Fast like the hare, steady like the turtle. I told you not to count out those slobs," Foolscap mocked from his perch.
Racing towards Blackbeard's ship, the D-Team and Jim stood with determined looks on their faces as they held onto a banister at the side of the ship. With the exception of Dr. Z who was steering the ship, the Alpha Gang were in chairs that must've been stored below the deck built into the ship and were strapped in for the ride. They were getting so close. They were almost there.
"Ok, good! Just a little further," Max said as he pumped a fist. Suddenly, the ship slowed down, almost to a halt.
"Something wrong with the ship! We're slowing down!" Zoe alarmingly told the other parties on the boat.
"Hey, Dr. Z," Rex piped up to ask what was wrong.
"The name is Whitebeard," Dr. Z interrupted. "Hey, Ed! Why aren't the jets working?"
"It looks like the battery's dead," Ed informed. Everyone else on the ship seemed to freeze at the mention of batteries.
"Those jets ran on batteries?" Ren questioned.
"I'll go start recharging them," Ed declared as he hopped up from his seat. Soon he disappeared below the deck. The rest of the ship was left dumbfounded.
Just then, thunder clapped in the sky. Lightning danced between the clouds. Rain started to pour down. The waves in the water stirred even more, rocking the ship violently.
"The storm's so bad we could capsize!" Rex yelled.
"And they call these waters shark bay!" Dr. Z whined.
"Shark bay?" Zander gulped.
Waves crashed against both ships. Both teams struggled to find something on their boats to hang onto. Both Blackbeard and Dr. Z struggled to keep control of their ships. Max faceplanted onto the deck. Ursula slid across the ground. Zander tried to swim up the slant of the boat.
"Do you think I could outswim a shark?" He asked the rest of the boat. Dr. Z growled as he planted his feet firmly by the captain's wheel.
"I'm not going to let this ship sink!" the old man hissed. He grabbed the wheel and yanked it in the opposite direction the ship was leaning. Dr. Z noticed that the wheel didn't have any more tension on it. He did it! Then, Dr. Z looked down at his hands. He realized that he did not turn the ship, he tore the wheel right off! The crew of the Alpha Gang's ship began to ad lib their worries about the wheel.
Another crash of thunder. Another wave slapped against the Alpha Gang ship. Ren felt herself being swept off her feet and soon she was falling over the edge with a scream.
"Ren!" Rex yelled. He reached out for his sister to catch her. He missed by an inch. Ren looked down at the water that was rushing at her. She pointed her Dino Bracer into the water and pulled out her Ampelosaurus card. She closed her eyes and held her breath. She braced for impact as she slashed her card.
Jim and the rest of the D-Team rushed over to the side of the ship where Ren fell over the edge. There was nothing but the angry sea below.
"Where'd she go?" Max asked searching the water.
"I don't know!" Zoe replied.
"I'm going in after her!" Jim said as he began to climb the side of the boat to jump into the water. Max and Zoe held him back.
"You can't! You'll get lost too!" Zoe told the boy.
"She isn't lost! Look!" Rex said as he pointed into the water. There was a glowing blue circle underneath the water. It lasted there for a second or two before it disappeared. There, where the glowing circle was, emerged Ren from the water riding on the back of Taiga. She looked up to the ship with a toothy grin and waved at them to show that she was okay. The other kids sighed in relief.
"Back down storm, ye hear me?" Blackbeard yelled angrily into the sky.
"Captain," Copper said as he rushed to Blackbeard's side. "It looks like the mast is about to break!" Copper was pointing up at the mast. Blackbeard followed Copper's finger up towards the mast and frowned at it.
"Take in the sails! And hurry it up, me hardies!" Blackbeard demanded. A crewmate climbed to the top of the mast and began to draw the sail in. However, another clap of thunder hit which rocked the ship. The crewmate went falling into the water.
"Hold on!" Copper told the crewmate as the second-in-command grabbed a life preserver and tossed it in the water. The crewmember held onto the ring and let his fellow crewmates drag him back onto the boat. Other crewmembers scrambled to the mast to take in the sail. Meanwhile, Foolscap mused sitting on his perch.
"Hard to believe that they're really pirates too," the space pirate told himself. "Oh well, let's get things going!"
Foolscap took a card from a pocket on his jacket. He held the dinosaur card up to his forehead where his Spectral Space Pirate summoning plate was.
"Jobaria!" Foolscap called. The card disappeared as it phased into the plate. Below the ship in the water, the long-necked sauropod appeared.
"Sea monster!" Blackbeard yelled upon seeing the water elemental dinosaur. Foolscap flew down to the front of the ship where he found a rope. He tossed the rope in a loop and lassoed the dinosaur's tail.
"Okay, Jobaria! Take us to Treasure Island!" Foolscap ordered. The dinosaur roared before it began to pull the pull towards the island.
"Look! Jobaria! He's pulling them!" Rex observed as he, Max, and Zoe stayed by the side of the ship. Jim was more concerned with making sure the sails were furled so the ship wouldn't capsize or change direction.
"Uh guys, we can't take in the sails!" Jim exclaimed.
"Well two can play at this game," Max said. He looked to Ren and called out to her, "Ren, take Taiga and head to the front of the ship!"
"Right!" Ren nodded. Her and Taiga sped up toward the front of the ship. Max grabbed a rope and began to swing it over his head.
"Let's just hope he's better than his dad," Zoe whispered to Rex, and the two shared a small chuckle together.
"I heard that!" Max snapped angrily at his friends. He then turned back towards Ren and Taiga.
"Hurry, Max! They're getting away!" Ren yelled from the Ampelosaurus' back. Max launched the rope out as far as he could and successfully lassoed the Ampelosaurus. Ren made sure that the rope was secure before she turned to her friends and gave them a thumbs up.
"We did it!" Zoe cheered.
"One more thing," Max said. He held out his Dino Bracer with Toril's card and slashed it. "Dino slash! Go, Torosaurus! CHARGE!"
Toril landed on the jets at the front of the ship. Surprisingly enough, the Alpha Gang's ship could support the weight of the Torosaurus. Max hit a button on his Dino Gadget and his move cards swirled around him in a mystical, yellow light. Max selected one and slashed it into the Bracer.
"Toril, vaporize that raincloud with Lightning Strike!" Max called out as he swiped the move card. Electricity built up between the Torosaurus' horns. Toril took aim at the sky and shot electricity straight up. Toril's attack hit the clouds, and in an instant, the cloud's disappeared to reveal a bright blue sky. Almost immediately, the waters calmed down.
"Awesome," Jim said as he stared at the cloudless sky.
"Great job, Toril," Max told his Torosaurus before returning him to his card, then in chibi form.
"It seems that storm got scared and ran away," Blackbeard remarked once the sky was clear and blue again.
"Sail ho! There's a ship coming in fast!" One of Blackbeard's crewmates informed.
"What?" Blackbeard snarled.
"Sail ho! There's-" The crewmate began to repeat before getting cut off by Blackbeard.
"I heard you!" The captain snarled. He snatched a telescope and peered through it. "It's those kids! And they have one of them sea monsters too!"
"Let me give you antique pirates a lesson in how to get rid of an enemy," Foolscap said as he flew up behind Blackbeard and Copper. "Jobaria, send those pests to the briny deep!"
Foolscap snapped his fingers. He must have untied Jobaria, because the dinosaur turned to head towards the Alpha Gang's ship.
"Watch out, Ren! Jobaria's coming this way!" Rex called out to his sister, who was still on the back of Taiga in front of the ship.
"Luckily we have Taiga out in the water, right?" Zoe tried to seek confirmation from her teammates. Both boys scowled as they continued to stare out at the approaching dinosaur.
"Not with Ren on Taiga's back. She could get hit in the crossfire!" Rex replied.
"Then just leave that to us!" Ursula piped up from behind them. Max, Zoe, and Rex turned around to face the Alpha Gang.
"Our motto as pirates is to be ready for anything!" Ed cheered.
"To me, that's our motto for whatever we dress up as, see," Zander added. He held an Alpha Scanner in his hands. He also held his rather newly acquired Suchomimus card. He slashed the card into the scanner. "Alpha Slash! Let's splash, Suchomimus!"
The aquatic predatory landed in the water beside Ren and Taiga. Ren had the shield her face from the splash with her arm.
"Time to activate Spectral Armor!" Foolscap said as he placed the monochromatic Jobaria card against the hexagon-shaped summoner on his forehead. Jobaria began to glow with a red-violet color. Soon, the Spectral Armor was applied to the dinosaur.
"Two can play at that game," Ren huffed to herself. She was about to apply the armor to Taiga, but she knew Taiga wouldn't be very helpful in this fight. Not as long as Ren was on her. Ren turned to Zander. "Zander, catch!"
Ren tossed her DinoTector element booster up towards the ship. Zander caught it in his hand. He looked from it to the girl.
"I expect that back when the fight's over!" Ren called up to him. Zander nodded quickly and almost fearfully back at her. Maybe he's so used to Ursula bossing him around that any girl giving him orders makes him fall into compliance.
"Right!" Zander equipped the element booster to his Alpha Scanner. "Element booster! DinoTector on!"
The Suchomimus began to glow with a deep blue light from its forehead. The light spread to its shoulders where the light seem to protrude out of them before forming two wave-like pieces of armor. Bits of armor formed down the Suchomimus' back and onto its tail. The head piece was one solid piece that protected its lower jaw.
"That element booster armor looks great on you, Gizmo!" Zander smiled out to the Suchomimus. It then hit the D-Team that they never knew what Zander's Suchomimus was called until that moment. They named him Gizmo.
"Ocean Panic!" Foolscap called as he pressed a move card to the hexagon shape on his forehead. Five dolphin-like dinosaurs leapt from the water and made their way over towards Taiga and Gizmo.
"Those are Ophthalmosaurus!" Max exclaimed as the blue and white aquatic dinosaurs zoomed past Gizmo. They had their target. The five Ophthalmosaurus surrounded Taiga. Ren looked down at the carnivorous dinosaurs that jumped over them, missing her and Taiga by inches. Taiga stopped pulling the ship to dodge the Ophthalmosaurus. A divide began to grow between the Alpha Gang's ship and Blackbeard's. It then hit Ren that was their plan.
"They're trying to make distance between us!" Ren called up to the D-Team. She then pulled out a move card and looked at it in her hand. "If Taiga can't fight because I'm on her back and she can't get me back onto the boat, this is my only move. Futaba Super Cannon!"
Ren slashed the move card. The Futabasaurus appeared beside Taiga from underneath the water. It shot a stream of water from its mouth and swooped up all five Ophthalmosaurus in its attack.
"Hey Futaba!" Zoe called from the ship. Of course, how did Ren forget? Both Zoe and Gabriel had a history with the Futabasaurus in the move card. The Ophthalmosaurus returned to the Jobaria as they regrouped and prepared for another attack. Futaba stayed in front of Ren and Taiga protectively while Gizmo was off to the side ready to attack.
Jobaria and the Ophthalmosaursus made the first move. Jobaria went after Gizmo while the Ophthalmosaurus circled around Futabasaurus, Ren, and Taiga. Futabasaurus swam under the water, getting the Ophthalmosaurus swam after it and left Ren and Taiga alone.
Gizmo snapped at Jobaria, though the much larger dinosaur dodged around the Suchomimus' attack. It swam around behind Gizmo and tried for a back attack, but Gizmo swatted the Jobaria with his tail. Furious, the Jobaria headbutted Gizmo sending the smaller aquatic dinosaur flying.
On the ship, both the D-Team and the Alpha Gang were anxiously watching the turn of events. The Alpha Gang was cheering on Gizmo. Rex and Zoe were more worried about Ren who was in the middle of this on the back of her Ampelosaurus. Jim walked up to Max.
"Hey Max, while everyone's busy and preoccupied with this dinosaur battle, how about we go get the treasure map back?" Jim whispered the question to the brunette.
"That's a great idea, but how do you suggest we do that?" Max asked as he leaned against a certain podium, like structure on the ship.
"I think I can help with that," a familiar voice said from the speaker Max was leaning on which made the boy jump.
"Gabriel? Are you always listening on this thing?" Max questioned.
"Of course. Someone needs to make sure you're not getting into more trouble than you guys can get yourselves out of," came Gabriel's reply.
"But really you can help us? Even from inside that box?" Jim asked Gabriel.
"Would I say I could and then not?" Gabriel responded. "Okay. Odis, let's go. Slash! Olorotitan, let's mow these weeds!"
"What does that mean?" Jim looked to Max confusedly.
"Gabirel has a dinosaur to. His is called an Olorotitan," Max informed.
"Pterodactyl Peril!" Gabriel's voice called from the other side of the speakers. "Okay those three should be there here in a few minutes. Keep an eye out."
"Thanks Gabe," Max said.
"Anytime," Gabriel replied.
"Wait a minute, what is he doing?" Jim asked Max.
"Gabriel is sending us some flying dinosaurs. They can set us down right on Blackbeard's ship!" Max smiled in response.
Focusing back on the battle at sea, Gizmo and Jobaria continued to trade off attacks and dodged. Most of their attacks hit the water rather than the opponent in front of them. Ren watched anxiously from Taiga's back as the Futabasaurus raced under the waves trying to shake the Ophthalmosaurus.
"Shockwave!" Foolscap called as he used a move card for his Jobaria.
"Water Sword!" Zander countered as he slashed his move card for Gizmo.
The two water elemental dinosaurs used their respective move cards. Water shot from the Jobaria's mouth at Gizmo while Gizmo had a long saber made of water form on his tail. The two moves collided and spun around each other on the surface of the ocean. Ren raised an arm to shield her face from the splashing.
"Wow..." Copper gaped.
"Wow? That's all you can say? That's pathetic," Foolscap mused. "What kind of pirates are you that all you do is stand around watching a battle rather than joining in?"
Foolscap turned his nose away from Copper and Blackbeard and pointed it upward. However, this turns the Space Pirate's attention to three dots coming in from the sky. Blackbeard seemed to take notice of Foolscap's glare and followed his gaze.
"What?! They're coming from the sky?" Blackbeard gasped upon realizing that it was Jim and Max riding on the back of some winged creatures.
"I think they spotted us," Max told Jim. Max looked behind him, but the Pterodactyl that Jim was on was empty. "Hey! Where did Jim go? Jim! Where are you?"
Overhead, thunder and lightning crashed. Max held on tighter to his Pterodactyl.
"On other thoughts, maybe flying was a bad idea..." Max whimpered as he looked around to see if he could spot Jim down below.
"Mateys, fire at the sky!" Blackbeard commanded his soldiers as he pointed up towards the three Pterodactyls. Soon enough, cannons and bullets from handguns started to get fired at Max and the three Pterodactyls. Max weaved in the air to avoid behind hit.
In the water below, Jim emerged. He had jumped down without detection. He looked at Blackbeard's ship which was nearby.
"Since they're looking for birds, they won't be looking for fish," Jim said cockily to himself.
"Come on, shoot 'em down!" Jim heard Blackbeard yell as he got onto the deck of the ship. Jim crept up behind Blackbeard and reached out for the map that was stuck in the captain's belt. Jim smiled, looking back at Blackbeard as he ran off with the map. However, he ran face first into someone else.
"Stop right there," Copper growled at the boy with a handgun pointed at Jim. This caught the attention of Blackbeard, and it wasn't too much longer that Blackbeard had realized that the treasure map was missing.
"That kid took the treasure map?!" Blackbeard growled as he began to march over to Jim and Copper. "Let me at 'em!"
"Oh, you're going to be shark bait, kid," Copper smugly told Jim.
A shadow of a figure quickly approaching caught the attention of the three. Copper and Blackbeard realized that it was not slowing down and it was coming from overheard. They both hit the deck. Jim smiled brightly as Max on the back of one of the Pterodactyls swooped over his head.
"Max!" Jim cheered.
"Jim! Grab on!" Max replied as he turned around and was coming in for another swoop. Jim reached up and grabbed onto one of the Pterodactyl's legs as it began to take off.
"Aha! We did it! We got the treasure map back!" Jim proudly stated as the Pterodactyls flew back towards the Alpha Gang's boat.
Back at the battle, Ren's Futabasaurus swam up to the surface and jumped out of the water over the back of Jobaria. It was still trying to shake the Ophthalmosaurus with no avail. Ren frantically turned to Zander up on the ship.
"Zander, do something!" Ren hollered at him.
"I can't! They're evenly matched!" Zander hissed back at the blonde-haired girl out on the water. Ren furrowed her eyebrows. There was really one option to win this fight, and Ren didn't like it too much.
"Zander, catch!" Ren said as she took a move card from her Dino Gadget and threw the card with a flick of her wrist up to Zander. The lanky man snagged the card from the air and slashed it immediately in his Alpha Scanner.
"Ultimate Water!" Zander called. Gizmo roared as pillars of water shot up from the ocean. A large wave began to form. Ren clutched onto Taiga as the water began to grow more and more wild. The thunder above head boomed. Gizmo then got propelled by the wave and charged in at Jobaria. Along the way, Gizmo hit every single Ophthalmosaurus, knocking them out of his way. The Suchomimus crashed into the Jobaria, sending the larger dinosaur flying.
Jobaria's Spectral Armor shattered as it landed back in the water with a roar. The Ophthlamosaurus all splattering around it. Both species of dinosaur that Foolscap was using began to shine blue before they returned to their cards.
Zoe was quick with a mechanical hand to reach out into the water and scoop up the cards. She smiled upon seeing the cards in her hand.
"Alright! We just got too more cards!" Zoe beamed.
"Hey, it's our dinosaur who fought the battle, so those cards belong to us!" Ursula huffed.
"Actually, both teams fought the battle," A female voice said as she climbed back onto the ship. Ren was just stepping off of Taiga and over the railing.
"Ren!" Rex and Zoe ran over to great her. Ren pet Taiga and thanked her for keeping her safe.
"Are you alright?" Rex asked his sister.
"Yeah, thanks to Taiga and Futabasaurus," Ren replied. She then returned the Futabasaurus to its card and Taiga to her chibi form. The blonde then looked to Ursula. "But as far as I'm concerned, I have the Futabasaurus move card, so if you want the Ophthalmosaurus move card, I won't stop you."
Just then, Max and Jim landed back on the Alpha Gang's ship. Max glared up at Jim, who was beaming with confidence.
"So, the plan was to use me was bait while you snuck onto the ship and stole the map," Max said, rather disappointedly.
"Hey it worked, didn't it?" Jim asked with a softer tone than normal.
"Good work, but what were you two thinking? It's still storming!" Ren hissed at the two boys.
"Why was someone worried about me?" Jim asked as he pushed against Ren's side.
"You're the one who fell in the water and was out in the middle of a dinosaur battle," Max pointed out.
"Touche," Ren told Max as she side stepped away from Jim, making the boy fall forward onto his face.
"Hey look, that blue pirate is leaving Blackbeard's ship!" Zoe pointed out. The D-Team followed Zoe's finger and seen that she was right. Foolscap was indeed leaving the ship.
"Aw yeah! It looks like things are looking up!" Max cheered.
"Attention pirates! Drop your sails and surrender immediately!" A loud voice called. As the D-Team and the Alpha Gang looked towards the source of the voice, they spotted a British Navy ship sailing in. The British Captain was on board.
"Hey, is it just me or is Blackbeard's ship getting further away?" Zander asked.
"No, it's getting away," Ren frowned.
"But that's not an issue since we have the map," Zoe chimed in.
"Lucky for us, the navy showed up," Rex nodded in agreement.
"Whitebeard! You have 10 more seconds to surrender, or we will fire on your ship!" The captain called out. Cannons from the navy's ship began to get pointed in the direction of the Alpha Gang's ship.
"That's not good," Ed whined.
"This was a bad idea dressing up like pirates," Ursula said.
"Hey Navy Captain! We're not pirates!" Max tried to yell.
"Fire!" The navy captain roared. Everyone aboard the Whitebeard's ship cowered.
"Quick everyone!" Ren yelled. "Take cover!"
Foolscap returned to the Space Pirate's headquarters. Foolscap knew he somehow ended this mission worse than Goma and Gabbro had. As much as he wanted to avoid talking to any of the other pirates when he got back, Sheer was already waiting for him.
"So, you didn't get the Cosmos Stone either," Sheer mused.
"Sheer!" Foolscap jumped in surprise. "Could you keep it down?"
"Why? Don't want the boss to know how much your utterly failed?" Sheer questioned.
"No, but-" Foolscap began.
"Do those wannabe pirates at least still have the map?" Sheer rolled her eyes.
"... No." Foolscap admitted.
"What?!" The female pirate roared.
"What's going on? - Oh. It's Foolscap," Goma said as he entered the room. "Let me guess. You messed it up, didn't you?"
"Well, I wouldn't say I messed it up?" Foolscap tried to plead with them.
"What did Foolscap mess up?" the final pirate asked as he fluttered into the space.
"You idiot! I told you don't mess it up!" Goma hissed.
"He did more than mess it up. The wannabe pirates don't even have the treasure map anymore!" Sheer angrily informed Gabbro and Goma.
"WHAT?" A deeper, louder, meaner sounding voice boomed. A holographic screen appeared in the room with a very angry looking Spectre.
"It's the boss!" Sheer told the boys. All four of them turned towards the screen and bowed respectively.
"Did I hear that Foolscap lost the map to the next Cosmos Stone?" Spectre asked.
"Yes, Boss, but if you just let me explain-" Foolscap was cut off by Spectre.
"There is nothing to explain. Sheer, Gabbro, Goma. I'm sending all three of you out next time," Spectre declared. Goma was intrigued that Spectre would send both him and Gabbro out again so soon after their recent failure. He supposed more forces would be better than just one at a time. However, this worried Foolscap.
"But Boss, what about me?" Foolscap asked.
"I will discuss with you your terms of punishment for failing. But while the other three are on their mission, I have a separate mission for you, Foolscap," Spectre informed.
"Yes, Boss?" Foolscap anxiously asked.
"You are to aid in our most recent project between your rounds with our captives. I know our resident scientist is needing someone to help test a new experiment," Spectre said.
"The new experiment? Are you sure they're ready, Boss?" Goma questioned.
"Are you questioning me, Goma?" Spectre's voice boomed.
"Of-Of course not, Boss," Goma growled as he looked away from Spectre. The words starting to leave more distaste in his mouth. "The answer however is no, but which is why we need someone to test it."
Foolscap felt his mouth run dry. He knew what the experiment was, but whether or not it works, and if it would attack him or not was another question.
"That is all for now. Goma, Gabbro, Sheer. Set out immediately," Spectre commanded. The named three fluttered their wings and left the ship. Foolscap was left headed towards the testing chambers to see how the experiment was coming along.
