Jane and Neville didn't really want to go to Professor Slughorn's Christmas party, but they accepted the invitation. They did not think they had much of a choice.
On the morning of the next Quidditch match, Hermione, Neville, Jane, and Luna were walking to the Quidditch pitch. "Jane, Luna," Hermione said, "Neville and I are each allowed to bring a guest to Slughorn's Christmas party. You guys wouldn't want to come, would you?"
"Not really," Jane said.
"No one has ever invited me to a party before," Luna said.
"So?" Hermione asked, looking at Luna.
"I would like to go," Luna said.
Hermione, Neville, and Luna went to Slughorn's Christmas party. While they were there, they could not help but notice when Draco got caught and claimed to be gatecrashing. They did not think much of it though. It did not seem like an odd thing for Draco to do.
It did occur to Hermione, that Draco hardly ever picked on her, or anyone much anymore. Maybe even Draco could grow up a little, although not enough to keep from gatecrashing.
Hermione noticed that Luna was now talking to Professor Trelawney. She was surprised that anyone could get along with Professor Trelawney, but Luna seemed to.
