'You okay? You looked like you were really having a hard time there.' Hetty asked.
'That messy diaper was big! Ever change a diaper that messy?' Granger grumbled.
'I don't complain about it that much!'
Hetty and Granger agreed to babysit the neighbor's twins for the weekend. (though, it was mainly Hetty's idea, Granger was mostly blindsided by it.). And things were getting a bit dicey.
'Okay, how is that that baby acts so comfortable with you, yet I can't get her to stop crying when I hold him? Am I doing something wrong?'
'I don't know. Maybe, just a gentle touch? Or maybe he can sense how tense you are.' Hetty shrugged.
'Sorry. I never got to do this years ago, remember?'
'Just trying to say that this isn't as hard as you're making it look!'
Then both babies started crying.
'Oh dear. Let's just calm them down, okay? Can you at least do that?' Hetty asked, rushed.
'Fine, whatever! This was after all your idea!' Granger exclaimed.
In front of the fireplace, after finally getting the twins down to bed.
'Whew! Thought I'd never get her down!' Hetty said, wiping her forehead.
'Please, you had it under control.' Granger scoffed.
'Can we not do this now?'
'Look, I had a rough day too. Let's just, I dunno.'
Awkward silence.
'I was nervous around babies a long time ago as well. Just so you know.' Hetty said. 'But, it is possible to ease up around them.'
Silence.
'If you're waiting for me to apologize for not talking to you first about babysitting, well. Then I don't know what to say.'
Granger was still silent.
'Okay fine! I'm sorry, I should've talked to you first. You happy now?!'
Then Granger started to chuckle.
'What's so funny?' Hetty asked.
'Just thinking about how giving you the silent treatment drives you crazy.' He replied.
'Oh! (slapping him on the arm). 'That's not funny!'
'Nah, it's definitely funny.'
