Mikoto Snape, to the eyes of others, would be described as a dedicated, kind, smart, and cute little girl. She can be weird sometimes due to her actions and activities didn't match her as a child as she would always do tasks adults would do, a sort of quirk they said. One other fact was how she adores her brother and only she could make him smile.
And currently said girl was still in bed after her accident the other day where she had to dive in to take a hit for someone else. Her head was wrapped in bandages but other than that, the girl seems to be physically all right.
"…" The girl was fine now, as she had already recovered from her dilemma hours ago. She just wanted to rest from the roller coaster her life was turning into.
Getting from the bed, the girl neatly fixes the bed before quietly outside, basically tip-toeing her way. No sound could be heard, as one shouldn't forget she used to live in the world of unnatural powerful shinobis. Being one herself, the girl always takes advantage of her natural abilities and responses in her everyday new life.
"Nii-san?" The girl came to see her brother struggling to clean the floor with his hands and not using the simple magic their mother taught him. She smiled; she felt a little proud of his action.
The girl head back to her room, she glances around whether anyone else was around before closing the door.
"*sigh* Ah!" The girl signs as if relieved and without any warning, she jumps high into the air and lands on her bed with a cute yelp coming out of her mouth.
"!" She hugs her pillow with glee and throws a hair comb without looking at the blinds, letting in the sunshine in the room and onto her. The warmth of the light outside was so good as the day was windy but good sunshine. A day she likes to coop in and relax alone, she's a child again. She couldn't help it.
"Finally, no one's around. I can let myself go… haaa~"
It was not easy for her to be a child again. She sometimes cringes at her child-like voice remarks. She couldn't help it, her childlike instinct can sometimes overtake her.
Mikoto never forgot who she was and who she was now. Once or twice a month, the little girl gave time to herself to do some things she didn't want others to see. Her reasons for it weren't important but she felt she need one to herself to come in touch again with her past life.
"Magic… is it the blue hue circling my chakra core?"
Closing her eyes, the girl always did the same thing wherever she gave herself time alone. Peer in within herself, a place where her powers steam from. She could feel and see her chakra core which was surprisingly good, the only variable was the blue hue circle around her core.
"*sigh*" The girl opens her eyes blinking a few times to adjust back and started walking in the room until she was standing on the roof.
"I can use chakra but…"
She does something different and switches something within her. She tried to tap on to the magic in her only for her to fall back down and onto her bed.
"Magic is different… I can't use it properly for some reason."
She could feel the magic, the way they flow with the help of her vision enhance sharingan. But such things did not open a better control of flow for magic in her.
"Lumos." The girl whispered, and a light ball appears on her palm. It was a simple magic she learned from her mom who use it multiple times to do something around the house. Seeing it once, the little girl imitated it. She eventually learned it without a wand.
She could see the magic directed onto her hand before vanishing to form the light ball on her hand. It was small but she could find uses for it.
"I feel like something is limiting magic to be used only by chants or maybe it's something else."
She falls back onto her bed, she began thinking of other ways. The only thing she didn't realize, was what she did was even more impressive than any other wizards or witches her age could or adults. A spell activated wandless and she was already pursuing something more than just that.
"Fire style, small fireball." Her skills concerning ninjutsu were all right, despite the training she gave herself since she came here. A small short burst of fireball came out of her mouth.
She never was regarded as a skilled warrior back in the Hidden Leaf, rather it was her husband and sons who were regarded as one.
"That's right, they were the ones who excel with brilliant skills."
Mikoto smiles sadly, she missed them. She was proud of them, but their family was cut short of the future they deserved. She sometimes wondered if they too are lucky like her, if so, she wished to meet them again and live the life she deserved.
*slap*
The girl then woke herself up from the depressed mood and started her once-a-month chakra and magic training.
Her first hour of chakra training started with the most basic and that was controlled, the girl again uses chakra to stand and walk around upside down in the ceiling which requires a lot of concentration. In a way, she was unlucky or lucky enough to be a curse with a small chakra reserve. Her talent in reserving chakra made up for the circulation of her chakra.
The second hour of training starts with practicing any ninjutsu she remembered she could handle. There was another thing she was quite different from the rest of her clansmen was her affinity with water as the rest were almost all fire.
"Water style, fish spit." She could do genin-level Jutsu, maybe some chunin-level even back then, so she trained in something she was good at and occasionally switch to different elements.
Her control was good and she was quick on her hand signs as she could do her jutsu without needing words too.
In her third hour, she practices her magical abilities. It was chaotic.
With the limited knowledge on her side, she could only practice the everyday use of magic spells she learned from her mother and brother. So, she mixed physical training with magic.
"Accio." As she jumps high off her bed, the girl chats the summoning spell and a flimsy-looking wood bow flew to her. She nicely caught it and pulls the string as if she was firing an arrow upside down. She aims and releases.
It was unknown to most but as a child back in her old life, Mikoto used to run around with a bow and also influence one of her sons to take it up. She was very flexible and agile with enough grip strength to use the bow. The added good accuracy of her eyes also helped very much.
"Reparo."
She had used a little too much grip on the old bow as it snapped off once use. She didn't have any alternative and thus kept it trained. It was enough right now until she could learn to make her own.
"Will this be enough?" In the fourth hour, she was back in her bed after she clean off everything in the room back to normal.
There is always a reason for something in actions, especially to the sane. The little girl trained when she did not have to, she focuses on every little detail of her life when she did not have to.
Her reasons came as a pair, she had witnessed the tragedy of her family falling apart. Her sons fought each other and continued suffering till the end. She did not want such a thing to happen again or at least in this world.
Her other reason was the fact that magic existed, and after hearing all the stories from her brother. She knew even the new life she had would be in danger. She had and wanted to be prepared for the unknown future.
"Inncendo!" Flame came to life out of nowhere and slams into the corner of the room where a cockroach appeared only now be burnt into sunder.
The girl likes to target such things inside the house, as her control improved. She could, even more, adjust the quantity and quality of the spell. As she also had an idea that magic reacts to intention, concentration, and calculation.
*thud!*
She was too focused to realize someone was watching her last action. Her brother dropped a bowl of soup he made for her with a surprised expression.
"Nii-san?"
"Mikoto, you finally awaken your magic!" He was excited, at the prospect that his little sister wasn't going to become a squib. Deep down, he feared the worse for the bright little girl.
Severus forgot everything and smile brightly. He walks up to her and patted her head. He wouldn't usually do this since he was sometimes terrible at being an older sibling.
"Ah…" Mikoto cursed inside since she didn't want to show her magic yet due to various reasons. But she pushes those difficult feelings and just nods at him. She wasn't going to forget that he was now someone she wanted to protect. Thankfully, he only saw her powers as accidental magic instead of wandless magic.
"MIKOTO!"
Another appeared, and this one had different feelings than the boy. She was the only friend of the two siblings. She was also the one in the group that showed her emotion the most, she eventually became their best friend in no time due to their shared interest and well because she just adores the little dark hair girl, and for good reasons besides appearance.
"I'm so happy you're finally awake and better!"
"Hi, Lily-nee." She greeted the older girl hugging her with a polite smile. She remembered her injury when she saw the tears falling off the red-haired girl.
"Lily, it's amazing. Mikoto, my sister has finally awakened her magi-!"
"You be quiet, mister. Her health is more important."
Lily was still annoyed at Severus for his usual obsession with the magical world. But right now, the red-haired girl cannot humor him.
"And have you apologized, we know whose fault all of this was, right?"
"Ah…"
"Severus Snape, I hope you apologize to her. So, God helps you. I will never forget this moment!"
The boy pale at her words and took a step back at the scary expression she was giving him. He could only make desperate attempt excuses.
Mikoto then watches the two bicker and at the same time have fun talking to each other. She had two loved ones she wants to protect, knowing they would do the same for her. This was her new family. Something she will always treasure just likes back then.
"Nii-san! Lily-nee!" The little girl shouts and caught their attention.
Her cheeks flustered with a mild pink color, and her eyes excitedly shimmer at them. She was really glad and happy right now, a feeling she will never forget.
"I love you!"
Her words surprised the two and they caught her as she jumps at the two for an embrace.
They were a little embarrassed. But seeing the happy expression on her face made them embrace her back. They too love her back.
It doesn't take long for the years to go by and time to move to change your life. One year you're a child, the next you need to get ready to go start your education. Well, it hasn't been that type of change for Mikoto Snape yet. This was a matter relating to her brother and fellow friend Lily Evans.
"Nii-san, you must be excited?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Just another few miles and we're about to enter the world of magic. Just like you have told me all these years. I would've guessed you jump around no matter the attention you might attract."
*!*
"I will not indulge you on this special occasion."
"Hehe…"
Severus and Mikoto were currently on their way to the Leaky Cauldron. Since there were issues with their parents and the lack of floo powder, both had to take a ride in their friend's car and head to their destination together with said family. The Snape parents decided to use the wizard bus but the kids decided to head they're with the Evans and more than one person was very glad about the decision.
"…" Mikoto looks around, Mrs. and Mr. Evans on the front seats. The couple was kind and good nature people from what she could tell. She felt welcome whenever she went to their house and this told her many things regarding their children with whom she was friends.
She looks beside herself, her brother sitting near the window, and on her left sat Lily Evans and her sister. The older girl was also very excited and kept up a conversation with her brothers about the many things they were going to encounter today. She could also see the Evans sister, Lily, and Petunia still having difficulties despite the few years that went by. She noted to herself to plan again despite the many failures in previous plans.
"…" Mikoto smiles and waves at Petunia who glances at them only to quickly look away again. The one different thing was that Petunia stop harassing them or disturbing them except for the occasional bout she had with her brother. It was to know that those exceptions were Severus' fault.
"So, what do you think? Excited about what we're about to see?"
"I am, Lily-nee."
"Come on, Severus might be trying his best to contain it but you're the opposite. Is something bothering you?"
Mikoto looked at the red-haired girl, she was sweet and kind to the heart. It was a miracle such a nice and cute girl was friends with her brother. She loves her brother, but sometimes she knew he was going to make blunders that will offend the opposite sex or just a person in general due to his upbringing.
"No, just normal like always."
"Oh really? Hmm…" With a thinking pose, the red-haired girl smiled, she figured or at least guess the reason why the little girl wasn't chipper today.
*hug*
"Don't worry Mikoto, even though I and Severus are about to head to school. We'll bring something home for you from Hogwarts until you can enroll and join us."
Mikoto now again, was in between the embrace of Lily Evans and due to the ques from the red-hair girl, her brother. The younger girl wasn't much at all excited today since they were about to head somewhere a lot will change them and she knew from experience in her past life that some changes were bad.
The little girl likes their hugs, it was nice. She sometimes wondered if she was born to be a hugger but in all that embrace, she could still feel the gaze. The gaze of jealousy and guilt, she looks up to see Petunia biting her lips but realizing them as if regretting it.
She needed to do something about this. The family was the most important thing she put on her life principle the moment she was given a second chance.
"All right kids, we've finally arrived at the Leaky Cauldron."
"We're here!" Severus didn't wait for anyone and unlocked the door before dragging his little sister to look at what was inside the bar for adult wizards.
"Nii-san…"
Mikoto and Lily, and everyone else was slightly disappointed at the inside of the wizard's bar since it looks like any old normal bar except Severus who was aweing at the sight of simple magics done by the customers of the bar.
Severus and Mikoto's parents were already waiting beside the entrance to Diagon alley which was a brick wall. But unlike any brick wall, it was a magical brick wall.
Mrs. Snape, who for some reason had a little light in her eyes for once in a long time was the one who open the path in the wall to Diagon alley by simply tapping three times on some of the bricks.
"…" Everyone even Mrs. Snape who should be the one with the most recent visitor between themselves was all awe at the sight of the magical world before them.
Eventually, after calming themselves down. Everyone started to focus on the reason why they came and they all can just enjoy the moment as they get the numerous necessities for the kids' enrolment at Hogwarts.
"Mikoto! Let's go too!"
"Okay!"
Mikoto was about to follow suit when Severus and Lily hold hands along with the adults to not get lost. She stops, and the reason was the older girl standing by the side with a difficult expression.
"Do you… wanna hold hands?" The little girl asked, Petunia didn't know what to say, or rather she didn't want to say anything since she was afraid, she would spout out harsh words again and once more to let others know what a horrible person she was. Especially, to the little girl who seems to constantly try to reach out to her apart from her little sister.
"I…"
*grab*
"Let's go, Petunia-nee!"
Suddenly she was simply pulled by her hand, but this gesture of the little girl opens her eyes to something incredible, like waking up from her stupor. It felt great and yet something that could sober her riling emotions up.
"…" She stopped; she had a reason to stop this.
She remembered, she kept reminding herself that being jealous was stupid and she should be doing her best to support her sister in her new pursuit. But it was hard, especially for a little girl like her with much desire for the new world that was open up but out of her reach. Still, her jealousy was mixed up with guilt, and everything made her frustrated.
"I-I'm sorry. I… can't."
"Petunia-nee…"
Her heart aches as she shrugs off the little girl's hand and brimming hope in her died down. She couldn't help it, there was still uncertainty in her heart and seeing the little girl. She wasn't sure whether to hate or like her. She could see herself being friends with her along with her sister but things were different. Magic changed her sister's life and hers as well.
