{Author's Notes: Sorry for the huge delay. My efficiency is going down. Expect the next chapter to be released sometime next week.}
"We all know where this is going, don't we, Amy?" Eggman teased.
"Yeah." She sighed. Once released, she met Sonic in the middle of the room. To her surprise (and delight), Sonic hugged her. She held onto him, enjoying every moment of Sonic holding her while she still could.
"I know how this must end, Amy." Sonic sadly told Amy, running his hand across her shoulders.
"My hammer would like to challenge your opinion." She replied cleverly.
"You just don't get it. I AM GOING to win this fight." He looked into her eyes. "I'm going to be the one who takes down Shadow not only for strapping Tails, but for all else he's done."
"I understand your sense of justice, but what makes you think I can't do it myself?"
"I never said you couldn't. I'm saying I would be better for that." They separated.
"Now here's something interesting. You think a girl can't be stronger than you?"
"Nah, never said that. You may be stronger, but I'm the better fighter!"
Amy pounded her hammer against her hand. "Let's have a hands-on experiment."
Sonic laughed. "Don't even try to get your hands on me. Get one; I dare you."
"Sounds good." She rested the high end of the handle against her other hand while backing up. Sonic kept his right hand in front and the left behind, ready to attack.
Eggman felt useless after watching his "contenders" get themselves started. "You look ready enough. En garde." Sonic curled up to prepare his spin dash. "Engage."
Sonic rolled under Amy, pushing her a few feet back as she landed on her face. She got up quickly. Sonic circled her faster than her eyesight could keep up with. Amy smirked, picked her moment, and swung her hammer at one point he returned to. The impact was very loud, leaving Sonic on his knees, clutching his chest.
He looked up at Amy, getting nothing but a glassy stare in return. Sonic got up and stood to face Amy again. She charged him with her hammer, but he stepped back just out of range. She swung again, and he did the same. This process was repeated until they reached the far wall. Sonic jumped onto the wall, started running up the wall, then jumped down to kick Amy in the back of the head. Her forehead was pounded into the concrete wall. When she turned to face him, he kicked her across the face.
Amy lightly tossed her hammer into the air, sending it spinning rapidly. Sonic looked up at it. Amy seized his moment of weakness and punched him directly in the right eye, which he fortunately closed before the impact. Amy caught her hammer and swung it underhand to hit Sonic in the stomach. He began backing up again. Amy swung at him, and Sonic managed to block her hammer, holding the high end of the handle. He tore it from her hands, repeating Amy's menacing gesture perfectly.
"Now we're talking." Amy exclaimed.
"It's best to keep your hands to yourself, young lady." Sonic lectured teasingly. Amy took this time to bind her quills up again. Sonic threw the hammer at her with impressive strength. She crouched to dodge it and grabbed it once it cleared her head. She ran at Sonic, hammer in position to attack. When Sonic launched his attack first, Amy set the head of the hammer against the ground and pole vaulted a few feet in the air. Sonic looked up and sprinted out of reach just as she brought the hammer down, smashing the concrete floor.
Sonic broke out into hard laughter, making Amy grunt at him in anger. She threw one of the rocks at him, only to see him catch it and toss it aside. He was now grinning smugly at her, a gesture she once loved, but now hated so terribly. She set her hammer against the ground, pouting. Amy waited for Sonic to make a move, which took over a full minute of ominous silence while staring before he moved at all.
He once more curled up into a ball, charging up for his spin dash. He rolled up at Amy just to get sent flying back by a golf style swing from her hammer. Sonic hit his head against the far wall and took a brutal landing on his back from over five feet. The hammer seemed to vanish from Amy's hands as she ran over to Sonic. He turned over slowly and got up, initially struggling to keep his knees from caving in.
"Wanna give up yet?" She taunted.
"You're in trouble far over your head." He sneered. Sonic reached under Amy and picked her up. "I can make you forget you wanted me dead." Sonic laughed, carrying her bride style. He pulled her in and kissed her cheek. She giggled and blushed, unexpectedly getting something she had wanted for so long; a kiss from Sonic the Hedgehog. He grinned, seeing Amy happy before the pain started. He got down to his knees, raised her up, and let her go. She bent her back outwards falling on his knee, crying out as she was under extreme pain and tumbled to the floor. Sonic kicked her back, sending her rolling across the floor a short distance.
"And my 'best play' award goes to Sonic!" Eggman announced from the Eggmobile.
"Shut your face, Doctor Corpulence!" He yelled back. Eggman didn't speak during the remainder of the match. Amy's hammer reappeared between her hands as she swiftly but cautiously approached Sonic, knowing the low tricks he could pull off. That was an unfair advantage to his side, Amy's one way crush on him. She smashed his foot into the ground as Sonic did not back up nearly enough. He groaned in pain, clutching his foot as if it was broken. She threw her hammer at the leg he was standing on, knocking him down. Sonic landed on his hip, injuring it. He grunted while getting up.
"Ugh, how could you do this to me, Amy?" Sonic whined.
"Picked up a few tricks when you dragged me into some of your adventures." She said.
"Hmm, 'dragged' you say?" Sonic had an evil smirk on his face.
"Sonic, you don't dare!" Amy scolded. Her warning came far too late. Before she knew it, he had already grabbed her hands and thrown her to the ground. Amy pushed off the ground to get up, struggling with Sonic who tried to keep her down. His strength won out, and he reached under her jaw, firmly locking his hands onto her face. He slowly gained momentum, dragging Amy, who was kicking and biting him, across the concrete floor. She screamed as her back was torn open in multiple places. Sonic had reached a full sprint before Amy could take his hands off. A circular trail of blood was left on the floor, but Amy still got up. Sonic charged his spin dash as she approached him. He let go, and his attack was blocked by Amy's hammer. He took his stance again, facing Amy. After her first missed swing at him, Sonic reasoned it was time to end this fight. He used his right leg to kick the side of her head. Once she stabilized herself, Sonic jumped up and kicked her jaw upward. She stumbled back, leaving enough time for him to sneak behind her. He grabbed both ends of her hammer, pressing its long handle against her throat. She struggled against him, her grip weakening as Sonic nearly crushed her windpipe. Within seconds, Sonic had taken Amy down. He laid her unconscious body against the floor.
"I have to say, Sonic." Eggman began. "It's been quite an experience watching you all fight, but your performances have been thoroughly impressive."
"Forget it." Sonic commanded. "I'm not gonna listen to your fancy speech."
"Alright then, have it your way." Sonic's assigned bot moved out of its place, grabbed Sonic, and took him back to position, exactly across from Shadow. Icepacks were placed on multiple areas, specifically his right eye. Amy was picked up by hers and carried to the execution zone. Each of her hands was chained to two poles on the side, and her ankles were tightly shackled to the floor. A pedestal behind her was raised up, revealing a large combat knife with a wrist cuff attached to the handle. She could feel something being pressed against the left side of her back.
"Now Amy, this was a good fight, was it not?" Eggman asked.
Amy was still dazed. "Um, yeah. I think so." She replied.
"Sonic's gonna finish you off."
"NO!" The hedgehogs both screamed at the same time.
"Oh, yes. His wrist will be chained to the knife and it's going straight through your heart. A fitting ending to your little crush."
"I refuse." Sonic told him.
"It's not your choice." Eggman responded. "But now, I'll give you and Shadow a few minutes before your final fight.
