A/N I don't own Harry Potter nor do I own Vampire Diaries

Chapter 4

The night was young. The wind tousled the branches above Harry's head as the pungent stench of burning flesh filled the air. The vampire, Damon, stopped laughing, a smile tugging the corners of his mouth.

He was still staring at her with a look in his eye that screamed want and it was making Harry itch with the need to distract him. It didn't seem like he wanted to kill her anymore, which was good, but his eyes promised something else that made her shiver.

Clearing her throat, Harry, fire traveled down to the camp. Being careful not to land near any bodies, she looked around. She heard Damon jump down behind her.

"Are you often this obvious when you feed? Aren't you worried about being discovered?" Harry asked the vampire as she looked over her shoulder at him. Her molten luminous emerald eyes met crystal blue. He smirked.

"Why should I care? Making a mess is half the fun!" He laughed as he flashed over to her. Moving at a speed that was nearly too fast for her seeker eyes to catch. Her magic bubbled across her skin, ready in case he tried anything again.

Harry side-eyed him as she tilted her head observing the carnage of the campsite. The wood had grown darker. The only light coming from the campfire that was devouring the body Damon had carelessly thrown atop it.

"Would this not make people suspicious? Do you not have to hide what you are in this world from humanity?" She asked as she looked back over at him. He was standing off to her right, his head tilted as he watched her, a smirk on his blood-soaked lips. She shifted from foot to foot, uncomfortable. His smile grew.

"This world?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

Harry's eyes widened as she realized her slip. Well…in for a Knut…in for a galleon. She thought. She was planning on using him as something of a guide anyway.

"Are you implying you are not from this world, Miss. Potter?" This time Damon's smile was all bloody teeth. His eyes danced in amused disbelief.

Harry huffed and turned to face him. As she did, she waved her hand. Willing her magic to erase the evidence of his carnage. Damon gasped as, before his eyes, the campsite was put to rights. The blood disappeared, the bodies appeared in their sleeping bags, and the torn throats healed as if they had never been.

The burns from the body that had been thrown in the fire receded until only cold smooth flesh remained. The dead were still dead, yet now it appeared the campers died in their sleep. Damon's eyes snapped to hers.

"Not implying, Damon. It's what I am saying. I come from an alternate reality. Unfortunately, it was a one-way trip and I didn't do it purposely. So I am a little ignorant of how the world works around here." She said as she stood before him. The wind tousled her hair as her eyes glowed. The glamour she wore did little to hide her otherworldliness.

"I don't know what is the same, what's different, and before I met you I didn't know if magic existed at all in this world. So I require a guide…would you be interested in helping me get acclimated?" She asked as she crossed her arms, rubbing her hands up and down them.

Damon's smile became more devious. His eyes tracked everything that marked her as other and his curiosity grew like a living thing inside him. A desire for knowledge and a craving to possess nearly overtook him.

Flashing right up to her. Harry gasped as she stumbled. The vampire's hand curled around her back to steady her. His hand just brushed the backs of her wings. Harry's throat dried. Now was not the time to discover they were sensitive to touch..damn it.

Blue eyes became confused as he felt her wings. Glancing behind her and seeing nothing he raised an eyebrow. Damon could have sworn he felt just the barest touch of something soft. Like a feather. Yet he saw nothing of the sort.

"Now why would I go and help you? What's in it for me my little fire magician? You offering payment?" He asked as red veins spiderwebbed across his eyes. A blush stole across Harry's cheeks as she let out a firm denial.

"No! No biting mister…" She said as she poked him in the chest. Damon chuckled as he released her to step back. Not willing to test her if he made her angry when she had just erased all the evidence of his carnage.

"Then why should I help you? Hmm…" He asked with a raised eyebrow as he leaned a shoulder against a tree with his arms crossed.

"There must be something you want. That isn't my blood. That maybe my magic can help you with." Harry huffed exasperatedly.

Damon made a show of humming in thought, with his fingers tapping on his chin as he leered at her with a devilish smirk. His thoughts go to his Katherine trapped away in the tomb. Knowing how good the being's blood tasted and how powerful she appeared, perhaps she could aid him.

"Well, there is one thing…" Damon drawled out. His eyes danced.

"Well? What is it you want…" Harry threw up her hands. Damon laughed.

"How good are you at breaking other witches' spells?" Harry sucked in a breath in shock. Well, there was confirmation that magic did exist aside from vampires in this world. Witches existed! Harry thought in excitement. I'm not alone! Seeing Damon waiting for an answer, Harry thought about how to word her response.

"I'd have to see it. But if my magic is stronger than theirs then I should have no trouble tearing down the spell. At least in my world that is how it worked." Damon nodded.

Excitement filled him. If this turned out to be a bust and she couldn't break the spell, if he played his cards right he'd have a powerful ally. Not to mention, maybe if he got on her good side she'd let him have a taste of her blood again.

"Well then, you have yourself a deal, Miss. Potter." Damon stated.

"Harry" Harry declared. Damon, ran his eyes down her form and up again to meet hers.

"Harry." He purred and Harry shivered, wondering what she had gotten herself into. Damon smirked. There could be other benefits to this arrangement. He thought. His eyes heated.

"What exactly do you need me to do? What is the spell?"

Damon laughed. The kind of laugh that was half excitement and half relief.

"We're going to open a tomb," Damon said with a smile as he held out his hand toward her.

"A tomb?" Harry asked as she placed her hand in his. As soon as their hands touched, he flashed them away. She gasped. One moment, Harry was standing in the woods and the next she was sitting in a blue Chevrolet convertible on the side of a dark highway with Damon in the driver's seat.

The lights of a city in the distance were the only light aside from the moon.

"Seatbelt my little fire magician." Damon laughed at her stunned expression as he started the car. Her eyes hadn't tracked that at all. Just how fast were the vampires of this world? Harry wondered as they drove into the night.
