In front of the dogs was a sight that would make anyone with morals shudder.
Countless dogs laying on the floor, each attached to the wall by a rope, many of them were laying on the ground, if the ropes weren't enough to make anyone worry then the conditions of the basement would, it was filthy and smelt disgusting, Molly could only guess what the smell was, none of the answers good.
"What is this place?" asked Andrea.
"It looks like a doggie dungeon." said Molly.
Molly started to walk up to one of the dogs, she lower her head to its mouth, she could feel its breath on her fur, they dogs were alive, but why were they being kept in this condition?
"Guys, we got to get out of here." said Molly.
"Well, duh," said Tammy.
"Quick, the staircase," said Libby, pointing towards the stairs with her nose.
The small dog that that was close to Andrea started to run up the stairs.
Before they could follow him the door opened sending the dog down the stairs, he landed with a thud.
"ANDREW," barked Andrea who instantly ran towards him, she stood there wondering what she could do to help him up.
"I'm okay," said Andrew, standing groggily.
Andrea looked at her dog and then looked at the person who had opened the door, standing there was a familiar face.
A woman wearing a dress covered in dogs, she recognized the figure from earlier that day, however this time that sweet smile was replaced by a scowl.
"Mrs Crothers?" said Andrea
"Who?" said Libby.
"She's opening a doggie café, I interviewed her for my channel and-"
Before Andrea could finish her sentence, Mrs Crothers shouted "LEROY, LOTHAR, WHY ARE THESE DOGS NOT DRUGGED YET?"
The two men from the van peered in to the room, looking over Mrs. Crothers shoulders.
"Sis, we barely had enough time to drug them, we just caught them and brought them here," said the man on the right.
"Idiots," said Ms. Crothers her voice full of venom, "Don't you know if anyone hears these Runts whine or howl we're finished, get them leashed and drugged up."
She pushed the two figures in front of her, Andrea and the dog she was trying to help up were the first to be grabbed, Andrea was refusing to leave that dog's side.
The two of them were carried to two extra leashes on the wall and tied up, the smaller dog tried to pull himself free.
Libby was next, she tried to run, but her captor was just too fast.
The next grabbed was the corgi, Tammy tried to bite the guy who had grabbed him, but the other brother grabbed her mouth and kept it close.
"I thought rottweilers were supposed to be sweet?" said Leroy or Lothar.
"She'll be sweet when she's pumped full of drugs." replied Ms. Crothers annoyed from the stairwell.
The three dogs joined the other two in being leashed to the wall.
Molly was the only one left, she tried to run up the stairs to escape, she wasn't going to abandon her friends, she'd find someone to help and bring them back, how she would do that without the ability to talk she had no idea, but she had to try.
She reached the stairs, Crothers was still standing there, Molly thought she could make her way past the woman.
In response to Molly's escape attempt Ms. Crothers pulled her leg back to kick her, stopped running however in her haste she tripped and started to fall, she hit one stair before being caught by one of the brothers.
"Geeze Sis, you didn't have to kick the dog."
"Oh be quiet, it's a dumb dog, If we didn't need the money I would have thought of something else."
"I'm confused sis," said the Lothar, "Why a dog café?"
"People love those, We just need to get some dogs off the street, and people will pay us money for food and a chance to pet a flea bittern mongrel."
"But aren't you worried about Animal control finding out?"
"No," said the woman, shaking her head, "Animal Control in this town has been cut down to one guy and a dogcatchers net."
"That sounds weird," said Leroy.
"Never turn down a good opportunity, now you two finish this, I've got to learn how to make an espresso before we open the café," and with that she turned around and closed the door.
Molly was leased up and left there with the three other previous human and two dogs, she did snarl at the two bullies, it didn't do much, but she felt better for it, after that Leroy and Lothar just left to get the food.
"Dare you eat it," said one of the two.
"Oh no, you won't trick me like that again," said the other as he left the room.
"Well, This is great." replied Tammy,
"We have to get out of here." said Andrew,
"To late kid, this is it we're all going to die." said the Corgi terrified.
Who is he?" said Molly.
"He's George, the boss of the pack I was in." said Tammy.
"Oh, and you?" she said, looking at the puppy.
"I'm Andrew."
"He's my dog," said Andrea.
"Awww, You have a puppy," said Molly, briefly forgetting the seriousness of the situation.
"Well I only decided to adopt him a few hours ago but yeah he's mine." replied Andrea.
"He's so cute, Who's a cute little pupper," said Molly in the cutest voice she could make.
Andrew just stood there looking at her like she was insane, "Andrea, your friend is weird."
"Well, you are kind of cute." said Andrea.
Libby looked around the room and looked at the wall, her eyes widened, "Molly, look over there on the wall, there's a clock."
Molly turned and saw it, it was only a minute to Four.
"Times almost up, we're going to be human again." said Molly joyfully.
"Why put a clock in the basement with drugged up dogs?" asked Tammy, confused.
"What do you mean?" said Andrea, ignoring Tammy.
"Oh, well um… Never mind, just relax, we're soon be out of this and away from this terrible place."
"You mean we won't be here?" said Andrea.
"Good," barked Tammy.
"What about Andrew?" replied Andrea, fear for her friend in her voice.
Molly froze, she didn't think about that, these dogs will be stuck here in this terrible room while they were free, They'd have to think of something when they were human again.
"Andrea I…."
"Oh, No." said Libby, the bloodhound's eyes widening.
"What?" said Molly.
"I just remembered we won't have any clothes on." said Libby, her voice shrinking as she realized the upcoming embarrassment coming.
"Ohhhh." said Molly, realizing that turned back to being a human was going to be even more awkward.
"Oh god, I left my uniform in the middle of nowhere." said Tammy
"Andrea, What do they mean?" said Andrew, sounding really scared, "What's going to happen?"
"Andrew, don't worry, I'll find you and…"
The minute hand on the clock hit four.
All of a sudden, the four former humans started to rise from the floor.
"We're floating," said Tammy, shocked.
"Are we going to be human's here or?" asked Libby.
"My room," shouted back Molly, "Scratch said I'll be teleported back to my room, but I don't know about…"
"Andrew, Don't worry I'll find just don't ea…" Andrea started to say,
But the four vanished, leaving two dogs only to stare where the other once were.
"Andrea?" said Andrew meekly.
"Ghosts dogs." said the George terrified.
…
Libby was the one who could explain the transformation back to humanity easier than the others, for a moment she felt like she was a dog, and then she found her body shifting into some sort of blob, she couldn't see Molly or the others, but knew they were there, she could feel herself phasing through walls, building. Looking down she could see the town below her, despite lacking eyes to see, one might ask why she paid attention to this, she would respond that it was either focus on that or the fact that soon she'd be exposing herself to three other people, and the fact that they would all be wearing matching birthday suits just made it more awkward, so focusing the terrifying nature of the transformation was far more preferable.
Andrea would have said she felt the fur turn into hair and that the majority of it shrank., her bones seemed to shift and melt, her teeth shrank to fit inside her mouth again, she soon felt her body take a familiar shape, she could briefly look at her shoulder to see that a small spot that she had for the last few days was still there, never had a teenage girl been happy to see an imperfection on her body.
Molly started to realize that she was nearing her home, as she flew through the wall, she was shocked to see her clothes standing there like it was an invisible person already in them. Her clothes were joined by the three other sets of fashionable invisible people, that of Libby, Tammy and Andrea.
Tammy felt herself slipping into her clothes, she felt her hair start to shift into the two pigtails, it felt like she was back to the Tammy she always was
It had only taken a second for the girls to transform back from dogs to human, it was a process that was amazing and disturbing.
"What happened," Demanded Andrea.
"This wasn't a dream," said Tammy, realizing the truth,
More questions would have followed, but all of a sudden something glowed around the two girls heads, they fell to the floor asleep.
"What happened?" said Libby, confused at the two unconscious girl's states.
"That would be me," said Scratch, materializing out of nowhere.
"Scratch, What happened, Why are they unconscious?" asked Molly.
"And why were our clothes here waiting for us, Not that I'm complaining," added Libby.
"For the first one I put them to sleep with a sleep spell, They should be fine, though their memories might a little messed up, hopefully they've forgotten about their time as dogs."
"Tammy hit her head on the floor," said Molly Deadpanningly.
"Whatever, as for the clothes, well…"
…
Andrea and Tammy's clothes lay on the street undisturbed, a few people noticed but just shrugged and continued on by.
All of a sudden both sets of clothing jumped up, like someone invisible was wearing them, Show, Sock Underwear, Pants jackets, Everything.
They then started to run in the direction of the McGee's house.
The sight of two sets of clothes running through the streets caught a lot of interest, people tried to take photos only to discover that the images would be mysteriously corrupted.
Eventually they reached the McGee house.
Andrea's clothes knelt down and took off their shoe and proceeded to hit the door with it, it then placed the show back to where it belonged.
The door was opened by Sharon who took in the slight to two hovering pairs of clothes surprisingly normally, She only took exception when the clothes pushed by her, she knew it had something to do with Scratch, but decided it wasn't any of her business, she went back to watch TV.
…
"Apart from the fact that people are going to think of Andrea and Tammy as Reverse Streakers, things will be fine."
"So we weren't going to appear in the…" said Libby, freezing on the last world like something was holding her back from it.
"Nude yes."
Libby, shuddered, "Okay, but why didn't you do some magic on our clothes?"
Scratch looked at her, "What and make you wear clothes, We all know that dogs don't like that, Heck, I'm a ghost and I think it's just cruel."
"What about turning our clothes into collars?" said Libby.
Scratch raised a finger about to explain to Libby how stupid her idea was, when his eyes opened in shock.
"Oh," he said like realizing something important, "Ooooooohhhhhh, Good idea, Libby."
"It's cool, just remember it next time." said the tall girl smiling.
"Hey guys could you stop talking and help me out with getting these two out of here?" said Molly who was trying to pull both Andrea and Tammy out of the room.
"On it Moll." said Scratch who clicked his fingers, Tammy vanished.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?" shouted Molly.
"I teleported her away." said Scratch, shrugging.
"WHERE?"
…
Darryl was in the front year just walking back after hanging out at the part with his friends, looking at his phone, when all of a sudden something fell into the bush he was standing next to.
He turned around and saw a girl with brown skin wearing a softball costume laying in the bush, sleeping.
The boy shrugged and continued to scroll on this phone.
…
"Now, to send Andrea…" started Scratch.
The blue hair girl started to groan, "Wha happen," she moaned.
"Go." whispered Molly to Scratch, who vanished, Molly needed to think of something and fast, "Andrea, what's the last thing you remember?"
Andrea sat up and looked at Molly for a second and rubbed her head, for some reason it hurt, "We were in a basement and… ANDREW!"
Molly eyes widened, Crud, she knew.
"Do you remember anything?"
Andrea was about to say something when she stopped, the look of outrage on her face turned to one of confusion, "No, I don't it's just, there was a dog in a basement and … was it all just a dream?"
Libby and Molly stood there for a second, this was the best way to get out of this, just lie to her, and she'll go home, she'd be out of their hair.
However, Molly saw how she acted towards that dog that she had met, How she looked after him and comforted him, She had just called his name when she woke up.
There was only one choice.
"Oh, Thank goodness, you remember." said Molly
"Remember what?" said Andrea.
"Yeah, remember what?" said Libby, confused.
"Oh, Libby, Remember how we met Andrea but that doggie café, we heard that whimpering in the basement, there were those dogs tethered up."
"I remember that" said Andrea, sounding a little confused.
"Well, then we escaped, and you hit your head and fell unconscious, then we brought you here."
Andrea looked at Molly and Libby confused, Molly was sweating she hoped this would work, Libby looked just as worried.
"Well," said Andrea standing up, sounding determined, "we need to save those dogs."
"Yes," said Molly happily, "You two go and inform the Animal control guy, He was in the park, I need to do something first."
"What?"
"I need to use the bathroom," Molly spat out, "Go I'll catch up."
Andrea walked down the ladder. Libby stayed looked at Molly briefly, she mouthed "Scratch?" Molly nodded with her question answered, Libby followed Andrea.
"Scratch." Molly called out.
All of a sudden, Scratch appeared in front of Molly, "Kid, I'm not in the mood to rescue dogs," the ghost complained
I know that" said Molly sweetly.
"You do?" said Scratch, surprised to see Molly not caring.
"Yeah, I just wanted to ask if you wanted to pad out the ole scare report with some people who deserve it."
Scratch mood changed, He always liked it when Molly decided to let him off the line, it was when he got to shine.
"I'm thinking of this." said Molly, who then whispered into the ghost's ear.
Scratch smile grew wider, "Kid, I love the way you think."
