The light through Izumi's windows was enough to wake her that morning. She had not slept so well in a long time. Despite that fact she didn't want to leave the bed. So she laid there curled in the warm blanket and soft mattress and just took in her room.

Hers. That still felt amazing to the girl. She hadn't had a space before that was safe and just unequivocally her space. She loved it.

Izumi wasn't sure how long she had laid there before a knock cut through the quiet morning. "Izumi. Are you awake?" A very faint smile pulled at her lips.

"Yes, Sir."

"Oh, my cute little granddaughter." The old demon cooed as he threw the door wide. He was upon her in a second, long arms wrapping around her body and pulling her into a tight hug. The affection felt odd but most welcomed. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Yes, I did. Were you able to sleep good?" She asked, looking up at the much taller demon.

"No, how could I possibly sleep when I was so excited for my sweet granddaughter's orientation today. I spent all night getting ready for your big day." He boasted as he began moving around the room with excited energy. Izumi looked confused and she glanced at Opera to see if this was normal behavior.

It must have been from the bored expression on the cat's face. "I believe the young lady will need time to freshen up before breakfast if we are to arrive at the school on time."

The old man must have thought this a grand idea and tottered off to start the day. Opera stuck around for a moment. "You have a freshly pressed school uniform on the counter in the bathroom, through that door." Though he didn't have to point since that was the only other door in the room, he did so. "Please come down to the dining room when you are finished."

"Thank you, Opera. Oh," She gave a little breath as the demon closed the door. "Good Morning Opera!" She called through the door, not knowing if he would hear her or not.

She hadn't seen the bathroom, and was eager to see it. She didn't often get to use a bathroom that wasn't a gym shower. However she wasn't expecting the huge room on the other side of the door.

The tub was more like a small pool. She was sure that everyone in the house could comfortably fit in with no problems with room to spare. There was a shower on the other side of the wall. A toilet was perfectly in the corner of the room far enough away from the tub and shower to be acceptable distance. Double vanity sinks were on the shower wall just opposite the tub. It was too much for one person. And it must have been for her cause there were no other doors.

Honestly the whole thing was so clean that she was a little scared to sully it.

She elected to try the bath a different day and quickly showered. Upon drying off, she found the uniform that Opera had mentioned. It was perfectly folded on the sink waiting for her to put them on.

It did not take her long to dress in the blue suit. As she walked out of her room she could smell that morning's breakfast on the air. It set her stomach on a tirade of rumbling. Her feet carried her to the dining room from the previous night. She would need to eat a big breakfast if she were to make it through the day. She wasn't about to pass up any chance to eat, you never knew when the next opportunity would come.

Breakfast was a fairly quiet ordeal. As soon as Opera had placed the plates on the table Irumi had dug in. The two older demons once again ate very little and allowed her the chance to eat as much as she would like.

They packed up and began the walk to the school. Izumi looked excitedly around at the strange landscape. Around the mansion was a very wild looking forest with a path that led out to a pathway. She supposed that would be the best way to describe it; the path was about twenty or thirty feet across and had sheer drops into a spikey yet foggy abyss. Large curls of thorny growths jutted from the ground and sides of the pathway.

On the horizon was the school. It was huge and ominous as it loomed over the landscape. They were quite through the walk as well allowing her time to take in the area. The only time they spoke was when she asked a question. Towards the end of the road was a green and purple sign. It was a spooky design of tentacles and eyeballs and in the center had unknown words on it.

With a simple snap of his finger and a tingle in her brain, Izumi could suddenly read the words. 'Entrance Ceremony.' She looked back at the old man. "How did you do that?"

"With magic. Don't worry my dear. Soon you'll learn all the ins and outs. After all that's why you're going to school." The old man seemed strangely enthusiastic that she would be capable of using magic but she didn't want to burst his bubble. "Oh, this is the perfect time to take a picture. The old demon carted her to the sign and posed with her. "Say Devi~!" Grandpa grinned, flashing a hand sign that she hadn't seen before. The camera that had miraculously appeared in Opera's hand flashed leaving her with a slightly shocked expression.

"Oh~." she breathed, realizing that she had no idea what facial expression she had on her face. The cat demon seemed to have a knack for catching her off guard.

"Alright Izumi. Just follow the signs . I have something I need to do before the start of the entrance ceremony." The two male demons tore off before she even had the chance to protest, leaving her alone in a school full of demons. Demons who ate humans. Her being human.

She felt a chill crawl up her back uncomfortably. But grandpa wouldn't leave her in a super dangerous situation…right?

It wasn't all that hard to find where she was going. Big signs pointed her to the auditorium, as well as the sea of teenagers that seemed to all be headed towards the same location.

It was fine she would be able to blend into a crowd this big. The more people the more she could see how those around her acted. Observation was key to fitting in. So she went along with the students. For the most part they seemed like regular teenagers on their way to school. Maybe the neitherworld wouldn't be so different from…

A loud boom sounded from behind one of the buildings and a man in a long jacket leaped back again as another man with, well, a very scantily clad chest and dark purple fluffy pants. Besides the fact that he was huge. Like he towered over his opponent.

"Is he fighting a teacher?"

"Wow, he's so strong."

"Yeah but isn't he going to get in a lot of trouble?"

The students around Izumi were just watching and doing nothing to help the situation. Irumi looked to her feet to find the nearest throwable object. Which happened to be a rock. With all her strength. The rock flew through the air nailing the big brute right on his ear.

The blonde man hissed, placing his hand over the now stinging appendage. His yellow eyes looked around for the offender.

"You big lummox." Izumi yelled out. "How about not making trouble on your first day of school huh?"

The giant of a man grinned at her. "Dost thou want to fight me too?" He grabbed his weapon that she had previously not seen and raised it high. She glared at the man though her heart was in her throat. Thankfully, a green vine lashed out capturing the yellow menace.

Izumi let out a breath, only for a hand to land on her shoulder. The hand was gloved and it led up a large arm to an even larger man with wild white hair. She didn't even come up to the middle of his stomach so large was his height. He wore a metal mask that unnerved her. "Are you unharmed?" The voice was deep but kind and he looked at her with concern in his eyes.

Honestly he kinda reminded her of one of the bikers who taught her how to throw punches. Big but utterly a teddy bear. "I'm fine. Did you do that?"

"Yes," He answered simply. "Are you unharmed?"

"No, I'm fine. Though you might wanna make sure I didn't take his ear off." She pointed to the struggling boy. The masked man looked at her sensing no falsehoods but still intrigued as she had yet to flee from him. In fact his gloved hand still rested on her shoulder. "I guess, I should get off to the entrance ceremony, So uh…thanks." She patted his arm as high as she could reach, just above his gloved hand. A bright light glowed on her hand and she gulped. What the hell? For something she just learned about yesterday this was happening really often.

She found herself in the air and over a shoulder before she realized what was happening. "Hey, wait! What are you doing?" Behind her the man who had been attacked was just shaking his head as the larger demon toted her away. "Please put me down." This seemed to shake something in him.

He stopped just beyond a building where there were basically zero students. "I apologize. I just got excited, young man." He put a hand to his face and peeked through the fingers. "I didn't mean to frighten you."

"I wasn't afraid but it was pretty surprising to be lifted into the air like that." She gave the man a soft smile and the tall demon in front of her began spluttering. Yep. A teddy bear. "I do need to get to the entrance ceremony, it's about to start."

"Yes, you should." The demon nodded, letting her go her way. He would have to tell Kalego that he found another one of their little mates. And she didn't run from him.

Izumi was of a similar mindset. She would have to tell Opera she found a new packmate. With high hopes she found a seat at the auditorium. The rows and rows of seats quickly filled up as she looked around at the other demons. They were big and small in a variety of different colors. Some looked absolutely human while others were tower mounds of fur and teeth. She didn't think she would ever get used to seeing such different species from herself.

"Be silent." A voice rang out through the auditorium as it called all attention to him. The demon who spoke was dressed in a long coat/robe type garment. He sported spiked bracelets on each wrist and a spiked belt around his middle. Purple black hair was styled back on his head and two little pieces sticking up like horns. "Now the school anthem."

The students began to sing as one and the song was bone chilling. The imagery the song brought forth was rather gorey. Still she made an effort to at least look like she was singing along. When the song finished she signed gratefully. "Izumi!"

Wait, that was her name and she recognized that peppy voice anywhere. "It's me grandpa!"

He's the director. Well that would have been nice to know. She grumbled in her head. The demons around her were mumbling to themselves as she ducked her head. She had never had a family to be embarrassed of before but damn did she have one now.

"My Sweet Izumi started in the first year class this year so I hope you treat my grandchild sweetly. Look, This is Izumi. We got a picture right before school." The principal hoisted a large poster sized picture from under the desk and she wanted to dive under the seats in shame. "Be nice to Izumi. 'Kay that's all I had to do so bye, bye."

Izumi breathed a sigh only for the boy in front of her to talk. "That was you huh?" She looked down to see a boy with dark hair and maroon eyes tilting his head back in his seat to look at her. Quickly she placed a finger to her lips and shushed him.

"I just want to get out of here, so can you not say anything?" She groaned. He chuckled and looked forward.

"Now for our student representative to give the opening speech…however our honor student Izumi Suzuki will give it instead." A hard groan left her lips drawing the attention of those around her. "Izumi Suzuki please come to the stage." Slowly she got up and trudged to the stairs. A pink haired boy glared at her and she was guessing this was the student representative.

There wasn't much difference on the stage as she passed the purple haired teacher who was glaring daggers in the back of her skull. Before her was a sea of demons and she had nothing to say. The poster beside her wiggled, drawing her eyes to it. There were words written there. A well wish from grandpa and words of wisdom.

Well, she didn't have anything else to say.

"Aberuhauke, Tarutoudari, Iusabebe, Risutouru, Aburuze, Tsurzaza." She could feel the energy in the auditorium change as she spoke the first words but the demons stayed quiet until the end. She felt a warmth flow through her spreading. A tumultuous roar of praise echoed out from the students as she finished.

"Hey," The male demon who called her to the stage yelled. "You can't be casting Forbidden spells like that. If you had mispronounced even one syllable your arms would have blown off. Such an amazing job." He gave a thumbs up. "Really, impressive. Only an idiot or a confident guy would attempt that spell."

Blown my arms off?! She was startled by the words.

"Though you could have chosen a cooler one, instead of one to stop you from falling all day. But it does have its advantages." The teacher hummed and gestured her off the stage. She walked back to her seat numb. She hadn't even realized that the students were beginning to leave till the student behind her a big bear of a demon bumped her softly.

Of course, with the way the day was heading she couldn't just make it to the old man's office in peace as a heavy hand landed on her shoulder. "You." Her eyes turned to see the pink haired boy from before.

"Aw, shit." She whispered, seeing her clearly had a bone to pick with her.
