Saiyans of Earthland
~Era~
"Those idiots from Fairy Tail have gone and done it again. This time they destroyed an entire port town." One of the council members said.
"What is the matter with them?" Another questioned.
"I find them a rather amusing and humorous lot." A blue haired councilman said.
"Not to mention, the Fairy Tail guild has been pretty tame an' lessened on its destructive force and behavior since one particular member of the guild joined several months ago." The old man beside him said. "They may behave like fools, but they're also quite the capable lot."
"Yes that's true, they used to present quite the quandary until quite recently."
"I think we should leave them be. After all if it wasn't for those fools, think how boring this world would be."
~Train to Magnolia~
"Ow, my head. It hasn't hurt this bad, since Cana challenged me to a drinking contest." Mina groaned, opening her eyes, finding herself sitting across from the motion sick Natsu, as they were in a moving train car. "Where are we?"
"We're almost to Magnolia. Just a couple stops away."
Mina's eyes widened when she heard that voice, and turned her head to look at who spoke, her eyes widening when they landed on Kaen, walking into the private train room, carrying a tray of food with one arm, while closing the door with the other, while Happy flew next to him, carrying some drinks.
"Morning sleepy head. It's about time you woke up, I was starting to get worried." Kaen smiled.
"Me to. I'm so glad you woke up." Happy said.
Mina slowly and carefully got to her feet, fearing that if she got up too fast, Kaen would disappear, but he didn't vanish, as she looked him over.
Different from his usual attire, Kaen wore an open front vest, with a pair of jeans and steel toed boots, fingerless knuckled gloves, and a black sash with blue markings. But his right arm was wrapped in bandages from the wrist, up to his underarm.
"Kaen?" Mina asked, reaching her hand out and touching his face.
"It's me babe." Kaen said softly, taking her hand and kissing her forehead. "I'm back, and I'm not going anywhere."
"Oh it is you." Mina cried happily, burying herself in his chest.
"Hey, it's okay." Kaen chuckled, sitting her down, with the food to one side, and checking her over. "How are you feeling? Do you have a headache, nausea, gaps in your memory?"
"Why are asking me these questions?" Mina asked.
"You were knocked out, and nearly raped by Bora's accomplice, who was impersonating me. He must have had some experience in suppressing his Ki, because he took you completely off guard, and tore your clothes apart. I'm concerned you might have a concussion." Kaen explained. "Your pupils aren't dilated, so you don't have a concussion, that's good." He smiled, putting his hand on her head, before it gave off a gentle ether blue glow, making Mina's headache go away.
"Whoa, Kaen how'd you do that?" Mina questioned.
"I've picked up a few tricks since we last saw each other." Kaen said, putting the food in her lap. "Now eat. We're almost to Magnolia."
"KAEN." The familiar voice of Lucy cried out. "Kaen help me, I keep getting harassed by this creep, and he won't leave me alone."
"Oh for the love of… I'll be right back babe." Kaen sighed, getting up and heading out of the room.
"We're in a private room?" Mina asked.
"Yep. Kaen got us an overnight room in one of the fancy cars. Apparently the owner of the railway owes him a life debt, and with a special code Kaen got from him, he can have any car he wants for 75% off." Happy explained, giving Mina one of the drinks he brought.
Out in the hall, with Lucy back in her own car, and Kaen having dealt with the creep who was harassing her, he thought back to one of his last days training under Acnologia.
~Flashback~
"Again. Come at me with more ferocity, more rage." Acnologia said, as Kaen picked himself up out of the mud.
"You know…" Kaen began, huffing and puffing, as he got to his feet. "I've been trying to wrap my head around something for a while now…"
"What is it boy?" Acnologia questioned.
"When we first met, you told me, that your reward for training me, was you'd get a descent fight, that will hopefully, one day, end your life, once your mission has been completed. Well, what the hell, is your mission exactly?" Kaen questioned. "Ever since we met, I've been getting these dark vibes from you. I've been ignoring the instincts that have been screaming at me, to kill you in your sleep. I am a Saiyan Warrior, so why is it, I'm feeling like I should avoid you at any cost, even though you've done nothing to prove my instinct right?"
Acnologia's eyes were overshadowed, as Kaen spoke this question, before he turned around, not willing to face him.
"I knew there was a reason why fate chose you." Acnologia said. "A Saiyan Warrior. It's been about four hundred years since I've seen one of your kind on Earthland, or in the Sakura Cosmos, and yet here you stand, training under me, and learning all my secrets. It's as if fate is toying with me cruelly once more."
"The Sakura Cosmos… hold on that's in Galaxy 7554. Thousands of galaxies away from Galaxy 1159 where Earth Alpha is, where my home planet, is. It would take fifty years for a Saiyan ship, even one of Frieza's speed and power, to reach Galaxy 7554." Kaen said. "Athena's teleportation device… must have been the cause of this sudden location change. But that could mean Mina and Eri could be in an entirely different galaxy from me, or even from each other."
"Regardless of how you came to be in the Sakura Cosmos, it would seem this is a fated meeting." Acnologia said. "I am the Dragon of the Apocalypse. I am to bring hell to this world, and destroy every living thing on it, until there is nothing left."
"You what?" Kaen questioned, his mind racing to the memories of his past battles against Celeron, and how he'd intended to do the same to Earth, before repopulating it with Saiyans, making it the new Saiyan home world.
"When I said you'd end my life when I've completed my mission, what I meant was that it would be your job to stop me from completing it. The sash I gave you, is made from a fabric derived from several of my scales. It will glow, when I am near." Acnologia stated.
"Why tell me this?" Kaen questioned. "Why tell me I'm destined to kill you? Why even train me to do so?"
"Because the final embers of my former humanity are fleeting." Acnologia declared, turning back to Kaen, his face far more fearsome, and ravenous. "The embers of who I was, before I became the monster I'm feared far and wide as, the embers of the healer, the doctor I once was, are dying out, and I wanted to at least assure the world, there was at least, one hope of stopping me, before the embers are gone for good."
Kaen just stood there, clenching his fists tightly, as he just glared at Acnologia.
"Why tell me this? What's to stop me from killing you, here and now?" Kaen questioned.
"You're not strong enough." Acnologia said. "Your power is far too weak, and wouldn't even be able to scratch me."
Kaen grit his teeth, knowing Acnologia was right. But he would be strong enough some day.
"Now that you know the truth about me, leave. An' don't come back, until you've attained a level of power, that far surpasses my own." Acnologia growled.
~Fairy Tail: Present Day~
"Well Lucy, Kaen, welcome to Fairy Tail." Mina cheered, bringing Kaen out of his memories.
"Whoa." Kaen said, looking up at the building.
"It's so big." Lucy said.
"Oh by the way Lucy, before we head in you're probably gonna want these back." Kaen said, holding Lucy's key ring to her.
"My keys." Lucy cheered happily.
"Figured you'd need them to go on missions." Kaen smiled.
"Oh I thought I'd have to start all over again and find more. Thank you so much Kaen, how in the world did you ever find them?" Lucy asked.
"I managed to nab them when they were thrown out the porthole before they hit the water." Kaen said. "I was the one who caused that title wave that sent the yacht crashing back into the port."
"Enough talking, let's head in." Natsu cheered kicking the door in. "We made it back alive."
"We're home." Happy called out.
"How's it going everyone?" Mina called out.
Inside the entire guild hall was in a rush as everyone in there, was doing their own thing, while those who heard Natsu were cheering him on as he waltzed on in. Lucy was in amazement at the atmosphere within the guild, with how everyone was so happy, and friendly.
"So I heard the two of you went all out in Hargeon. Had to go starting trouble didn't…" The member who was talking stopped when Natsu came flying at him, landing a kick to the face.
"Why did you do that?" Lucy questioned, holding up her hands.
"I'm in agreement, what the hell?" Kaen questioned.
"It's pretty typical behavior around here when Erza isn't around. You'll get used to it." Mina smiled.
"Erza, armored woman, scarlet red hair? Reequip Magic?" Kaen asked.
"You know her?" Mina asked.
"Not officially, but I've seen her walk by, and heard people talking about her as she did." Kaen said.
"You lied about that Salamander and Saiyan, Mina and I are gonna kick your ass." Natsu stated.
"Leave me out of it." Mina said. "Where's Cana? Better yet, where's Mira? I gotta pay her for babysitting Eri."
"Don't get mad at me. I'm not the one to blame here. I just passed along a rumor I heard." The guy said.
"It was just a rumor?"
"You wanna fight?"
"Let's go."
"Come here Happy." Kaen said, setting the blue cat on his shoulder, seconds before he was about to get hit in the face with an elbow.
"Thanks Kaen, that was a close one." Happy smiled, sighing happily.
"Oh wow." Lucy said in amazement. "I'm actually standing inside the Fairy Tail Guildhall."
"Come on, let's go find Mira and get you both registered." Mina said grabbing a drink.
"So Natsu finally made it back, huh?" A raven haired boy questioned.
"Where the hell are his clothes?" Kaen shouted. "Is this the kind of thing Eri's exposed to around here?"
"What the hell is wrong with him?" Lucy questioned. "He's in his underwear."
"That's Grey. He has a nasty habit of stripping because he had to run through the snowy tundras up north when learning ice magic." Mina explained. "He usually doesn't tend to notice when he's stripped. Not even a wish from Namekian Wish Orbs would be able to fix that habit."
"It's time we settled things once and for all." Grey declared.
"Grey, your clothes." A brunette woman at the bar counter called.
"I don't have time for that." Grey declared.
"Oh, there's Cana." Mina smiled. "That's Cana Alberona. She's a powerful card magic user, and holds the title of Fairy Tails second heaviest drinker."
"Second heaviest? Who's the first?" Lucy asked.
"You're looking right at her." Happy said.
"Have you ever gotten drunk around Eri?" Kaen asked.
"A couple times, but usually Mira lets Eri sleep over at her place when that happens." Mina said. "I don't drink every day, but when I do drink, I usually empty out the entire bar in the guild."
"That's incredible." Lucy said.
"It's only noon, and you boys are already whining like spoiled babies." Elfman said, coming up behind Mina and Lucy.
"The big guy there is Elfman. One of the Takeover Siblings in Fairy Tail; he's also Mira's younger brother." Mina said. "He considers himself to be a real man, and thinks that all he needs to solve any problem, are two strong fists. So diplomatic tactics don't really register to his walnut sized brain."
"Hey." Elfman didn't like being teased like that.
"Hey, truth hurts." Mina said, grabbing a mug of some kind.
"Geeze it's so noisy around here."
Kaen and Lucy turned to one of the walls to see an orange haired man wearing a green coat, with two ladies with him, one on each arm.
"Seriously I'm worried about Eri's future if someone like him is around." Kaen said.
"The playboy over there is Loki. You're probably familiar with him Lucy, as he's ranked high on the most eligible bachelor's list." Mina said, emptying her mug and throwing it at him, hitting the poor guy on the forehead. "He's also womanizer who doesn't take responsibility for his actions."
"His Ki feels off." Kaen said.
"Sounds like you've got a history with him." Lucy said.
"He's tried hitting on me a couple times, but Eri made sure those experiences didn't end so well for him." Mina sighed as Loki went to join the fight, thinking the mug that hit him came from all the ruckus.
"He's definitely off my list then." Lucy said, crossing him off her list of bachelors. "What the heck is wrong with these people? There's not one sane person in the whole place."
"Mama."
Lucy turned to who had called that out, and saw a little girl run into Mina's arms, as the pink haired girl smiled and tossed Eri into the air playfully. The child had silvery bluish off white color hair, with white tiger ears, and a tail to match, wearing a red corduroy dress over a white shirt, and light blue pants.
"There you are Eri. Did you behave for Aunty Mira while I was gone?" Mina asked.
"Uh-huh. Did you bring me back anything?" Eri asked.
"As a matter of fact, I did." Mina smiled. "Guess who Mama found, while in Hargeon."
Eri looked past Mina, and her eyes widened as her body sparked with pink electricity and she jumped from Mina's arms, into Kaen's.
"PAPA." Eri cried out, hugging him tightly. "You're back Papa, you're finally back. I've missed you so much, I was starting to lose hope."
"Hello Kitten. I've missed you to." Kaen said, returning the hug. "I'm so sorry for worrying you."
"Oh, that is just so heart warming. I think I'm gonna cry." Lucy said, a smile on her face, and a warm feeling in her chest.
"Hello, are you both new here?"
Kaen and Lucy turned to her and the blonde's face brightened when she saw the woman featured in Sorcerer Weekly, wearing a long red dress.
"Ah, Mira we were just looking for you." Mina smiled, turning to the long silvery white haired woman.
"Aunty Mirajane. Look, look." Eri said, hopping up on Kaen's shoulders with Happy hopping on her back. "Mama brought Papa home. He's finally returned, isn't that great?"
"Oh my, you're so excited Eri. I'm just so happy for you." Mira said, actually crying tears of joy.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Kaen asked.
"She'll be fine. She's normally like this." Mina said.
"It's Mirajane." Lucy said in awe, before pointing to the brawl going on around them. "Don't you think we should try to stop them?"
"It's always like this around here, I just leave them alone. Besides…" Mira said, wiping her tears away before she was interrupted when Elfman was slammed into her. "It's kinda fun, don't you think?" She questioned, before she passed out.
"No. Don't die Mirajane." Lucy cried, before she was pulled away by Kaen, keeping a butt naked Grey from slamming into her, and slammed into a support pillar instead.
"Natsu, give Grey back his underwear." Mina called out.
"Make me." Natsu shouted.
"I will tie you up and put you on the wooden rocking horse in storage, if you don't give his underwear back to him, right now." Mina threatened as Kaen pulled Eri down from his shoulders, and covering her eyes. "You know I'll do it."
"Fine." Natsu sighed, tossing the underwear back to Grey.
"Gah." Lucy cried out. Mina turned to see Loki had picked her up.
"These guys are so insensitive, a woman has needs." He said.
"Not another word out of you." Mina glared, kicking him away from Lucy, dropping her to the ground. "You okay?"
"I will be."
"Mina, it's starting to look like things are escalating rather quickly." Kaen said.
"We'd best find cover. Everyone's about to use magic. An' when that happens, 'he' usually appears to put a stop to the chaos." Mina said before a long shadow covered them. "Too late."
"Not good."
"Would you fools stop bickering like children?" A monstrous man covered in shadow shouted, stopping the fighting in its tracks.
"Oh boy." Kaen said.
"He's huge." Lucy said in shock.
"That's Master Makarov." Mina said. "His magic is Titans Wrath, which allows him to grow to any size he wants. But he does have his limit on how much he can grow. The bigger he grows, the more magic it requires. I'm in the process of learning that magic myself."
"Hahahahahahaha. Man talk about a bunch of babies. Looks like I win this round you guys…" Natsu said, before he was squished by Makarov's foot, causing Lucy to cry out with an, eep, while Kaen just winced.
"Well, seems we've a couple new recruits." Makarov said.
"Yes sir." Lucy was a bit panicked when his attention was on her.
"Yo." Kaen saluted with two fingers.
"You can relax Lucy. He only gets like this to stop the fighting." Mina smiled as Makarov began to shrink down to his normal size.
"Nice to meet ya." Makarov smiled raising his hand up to them. "I see you've already met Mina."
"He's tiny." Lucy said. "This little guy's really in charge here?"
"Of course he is." Mira said, coming back to their sides.
"Master, this is Kaen. The boyfriend I told you about." Mina introduced.
"Oh, well it's nice to finally put a face to the name young man. Mina has told us all so much about you, and we're just thrilled to have you here, joining Fairy Tail." Makarov said.
"Uh, thanks I guess." Kaen said.
"You know, the amount of complaints Fairy Tail receives isn't as large as they used to be, thanks to your girlfriend's efforts." Makarov smiled. "Now, why don't we get you and the new girl registered? But first, everyone who was part of the brawl, clean up this mess."
~Later after the clean up~
"An' there you are." Mira smiled, removing the stamp from Lucy's hand, revealing a hot pink Fairy Tail emblem. "Now you're both officially members of the Fairy Tail Guild."
Kaen smiled as his emblem was on the underside of his right forearm, and had a tribal design to it, instead of a solid design, like the other members. An' in the time that it took for the mess to be cleaned up as well, he'd changed out of his clothes, into his hero costume, consisting of a navy blue sleeveless suit, with slim shoulder pads, and matching combat pants, with a belt and sash around his waist, holding several pouches on it, with a pair of vambraces on his forearms that covered the backs of his hands, with his emblem still visible just bellow the crook of his elbow, and steel toed combat boots on his feet. (Imagine a sleeveless Captain America Stealth Suit from the 2014 Winter Soldier movie.).
"Good on you both." Mina smiled, Eri sitting on her lap.
"Cool." Kaen smiled. "Uh, quick question. Does that stamp happen to work on fabrics and metals too?"
"Oh course. Would you like me to stamp the emblem onto something?" Mira asked.
"Actually yeah, if it's not too much trouble." Kaen said, removing the collapsed shield from his back. "Could you put the emblem, nice and big on my upper back, and on the wide end of my shield?"
"Of course. Such nice manners you have." Mira smiled, doing as he asked.
"Oh wow, this is so great." Lucy cheered, running to where Natsu was.
"She's certainly hyperactive." Makarov smiled.
"She is." Mina chuckled.
There was a moment of silence, as Mira finished up stamping Kaen's suit and shield before Mina felt a hand grab her arm, and looked down to see a young boy with a worried expression on his face.
"Romeo, what's the matter?" Mina asked.
"It's my daddy. He still hasn't come back yet." Romeo said. "He told me he'd be back in three days, but he's been gone for over a week now."
"That's right, he has been gone for longer than he should have been." Mina said.
"Who's his father?" Kaen asked getting a drink from Mira.
"He's a fire mage, name's Macao. He's a real nice guy, and he's a single father." Mina explained.
"If I remember correctly, he took the job on Mount Hakobe." Makarov said.
"That's right, and it's not that far from here, so why won't somebody go look for him?" Romeo questioned, turning to look at Makarov.
"Easy Romeo, easy." Mina said, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"It's okay Romeo. Your Papa will come back. Just like mine did." Eri said, giving him a hug.
"Listen kid, your old man's a wizard, and like every other wizard in this guild, he can take care of himself. Now go home, have some milk and cookies, and wait." Makarov stated rather sternly.
"JERK." Romeo shouted, punching Makarov in the face, before running off out of the guild hall. "I hate you all." He cried while running.
"Romeo wait." Eri called out, running after him.
"That's gotta be tough." Lucy said.
"I know it doesn't seem like the Master cares, but he really is worried." Mira said, putting some bottles back on the shelf, before they flinch at the sound of cracking glass, and looked to see Kaen, removing his hand from a leaking cup.
Mina just sat there, sighing in acceptance at what the master said, before Kaen got up, paid for his drink, and slung his bag over his shoulder, and marched for the door, with Mina turning to the Request Bored. She saw the look in his eye, and though she hadn't seen it in months, she'd seen it enough times to recognize what it meant.
"Natsu. Kaen's doing this one on his own. Keep looking for your next job." Mina called to him.
"Right." Natsu said, sounding angry.
"What is up with that big guy?" Cana asked. "He's a member for five minutes, and already he thinks he can take on a job Macao can do."
"That's enough Cana." Mina said. "Kaen feels like he needs to do this. Not because of his pride as a Saiyan, but because of his pride as a father."
"Still, he doesn't even know Macao. What would he gain from it?" Cana inquired.
"Nothing." Mina said. "Kaen isn't doing it because he thinks he could gain something from helping Macao. He's doing it, because he feels it's the right thing for him to do."
"Remember you two, we can't choose anothers path. Just leave him be." Makarov said. "Besides, it's because he's got such fatherly love and compassion in his heart, that he's doing this for Romeo, a boy he doesn't even know, but is friends with his own daughter."
"Why did Kaen seem so cold after that boy ran out though?" Lucy asked.
"Probably because he never knew his actual father, and he doesn't want to see Romeo grow up without his, at such a young age." Mina said. "Kaen and his siblings lost both their parents to a mad tyrant, the day after Kaen and his sister were born. He grew up only hearing stories of how strong his father was, while his aunt raised them as her own, with the help of her husband she married, after she found refuge."
"I think it best we explain to Lucy, what Kaen and Mina are, in greater detail." Makarov said.
~Mount Hakobe~
The air was cold, and the snow was blowing around as the blizzard was strong. But the sound of a something falling from the sky broke through the roaring winds, before Kaen landed on the trail, building up a cloud of snow that had been on the ground.
"Alright, now I just need to search for his Ki. If he's a fire magic user, he should have a similar Ki to Natsu's, but since he's not a Dragonslayer, he won't be as prominent to find." Kaen said, picking himself up out of the crater, his landing created. "I might also wanna fill that up before any travelers come by."
Turning around and taking a knee to take care of it, a pair of eyes spotted him from above, as something came down to ambush Kaen, but was stopped, as he was enveloped in ice.
"Ah, so this must be a Mountain Vulcan. You're a hell of a lot different from your cousins in the forests." Kaen said turning back to look at the Vulcan, struggling to break free of his ice.
"No, me strong, you weak human."
"I am no human." Kaen declared, glaring at the beast. "Hold on, your Ki… I see now, so that's why Macao hasn't returned yet. You filthy body snatcher." He growled, before his voice began to echo with power. "Remove yourself from Macao's body, and return him to Fairy Tail at once."
The Vulcan could feel the power behind Kaen's voice, and out of fear and instinct, he left the body he was inhabiting, leaving behind a man with dark blue hair, wearing white and blue themed clothing.
"He looks badly injured. He must have put up a good fight, before the Vulcan took over his body." Kaen said, reaching into one of his pouches, and popping a Senzu Bean into Macao's mouth.
Out of instinct, Macao ate the bean, before his injuries were healed, and he was wide awake.
"Oh man, where am I? Why do I suddenly feel a million times better?" Macao questioned.
"You're on Mount Hakobe. I came to retrieve you." Kaen said, freeing Macao of the ice. "As for why you feel better, I gave you something that healed your injuries."
"Thanks but… who are you?" Macao questioned.
"Name's Kaen, I'm a new member of Fairy Tail. Your son is waiting for you back home." He smiled, holding out his arm for Macao to take, revealing his Fairy Tail Emblem.
~Magnolia~
"It's okay Romeo. I know it's sad to be without your Papa, but I know my Papa will bring Macao back, no matter what." Eri said, sitting next to Romeo on the steps.
"But what if something's happened to my daddy, and he's no longer with us anymore?" Romeo questioned.
"Then I'd say that's for the best."
Eri and Romeo looked up to see the village boys who'd been teasing him earlier. Both kids looked angry at what the first bully said.
"I mean this town would be better off without a bunch of booze hounds like the Fairy Tail Wizards." One of the bullies said.
"An' did you seriously say your Papa was gonna bring him back?" Another of the bullies asked, looking at Eri. "Is this the same Papa who ran out on you and your Mama six months ago?"
"Papa did not run out on us. An' he came back, just like I always said, and he joined Fairy Tail just like my Mama did." Eri said, her cheeks puffing up in anger.
"Oh please, face reality you two. Your dad is dead, and your papa walked out on you because he doesn't love you."
The bullies began to laugh at what their leader said, while Romeo and Eri looked angry, before their expressions brightened, and a pair of shadows covered the bullies.
"Papa." Eri cheered.
"Daddy." Romeo smiled.
The bullies stopped laughing and seeing that Eri and Romeo were looking behind them, and carefully turned around, before their expressions turned to fear, when they saw the hulking figure of Kaen standing over them, with Macao next to the scar covered Saiyan.
"Hey Princess." Kaen smiled as Eri jumped over the bullies and into his arms. "Were you keeping Romeo company while I went to get his dad?"
"I was Papa." Eri smiled.
"Daddy, I'm so happy you're back."
"Sorry about that kiddo. I managed to take out 19 of the Vulcans, but the last one caught me by surprise and took over my body." Macao said. "It's only thanks to Kaen that I'm alive, and able to be here with you now."
"Who are these kids? Are they friends of yours?" Kaen asked, spotting the bullies in front of him.
"No way. They're bullies, and they were just laughing about what their leader said about you not loving me, and about Romeo's Papa being dead." Eri said.
"Oh really now?" Kaen questioned.
"We're sorry." The boys cried out, running in terror under his gaze.
"What did you do?" Macao asked.
"All I did was look at them. I was just planning on giving them a scolding, but I guess their minds were too weak to handle the power I was subconsciously emitting." Kaen shrugged. "Well, let's head back to the guild, I'm sure everyone's anxious to see you again Macao."
"Right, and I got my report to give to the Master." Macao said. "It'll be a long time, before I live this one down."
