Todoroki was sitting in his waiting room. While he knew he should be thinking of a strategy he couldn't get his match with Midoriya out of his head. Then his door was open and his opponent walked in. "Hey. You ok man?" Jason asked. Todoroki didn't respond. "Ya know, I heard what Endeavor said. And I just wanted to say that he doesn't have any right to treat you like that. What he did is wrong and shouldn't have happened. I'm sure you already know this but when I was young I needed to hear it from someone else even though I knew what was happening was wrong." Todoroki looked at Jason before saying, "How could you know what I went through." Jason looked Todoroki in the eye and said, "I don't but I know what it's like to be mistreated, to be used like an object, all because of something that you couldn't control." Todoroki scoffed, "You have everything you could want." "So do you. Everything but a father who loves you. I didn't have people that believed in me. I was bullied for having a weak quirk. Nobody wanted to talk to me unless they wanted to use me. No one but my parents believed in my dream. Then I met Mei and she put me on the path I walk now." Todoroki looked stunned. "But hey we're strong so starting today let's leave everything at the door. From now on the past doesn't matter. Only the present." Jason finished holding out his hand. Todoroki looked at it for a minute before smiling and shaking it. Jason left Todoroki's waiting room and went to his own room with a smile on his face.

The next match was about to begin. Jason and Todoroki were standing at opposite sides of the arena. "Remember! Leave everything at the door!" Jason called out. He only seemed to have a microphone and pair of fingerless gloves that had metal embedded in the knuckles. However he had one pouch with something circular in it. "Right, at the door." Todoroki said to himself. Todoroki started the match with a large blast of ice. Jason rolled to the side to avoid it while also taking out the disk in his pouch. He pressed a button on the disk before holding it up. Todoroki stood there for a second waiting for something to happen. When nothing did he went for another attack however he couldn't. His quirk wouldn't work. Jason breaks out into a smile and starts laughing. "What did you do?!" Todoroki asks. "Ha-ha-ha! It works. This disk is an omni directional quirk disabler. Theoretically it will only work on emitter and transformation type quirk. This is my secret weapon! My greatest invention! A way to level the playing field!" Staring directly at Todoroki, Jason continues, "The rules have changed Todoroki. It's time to show me that you're more than your father. That you're more than your quirk." Todoroki ran at Jason but it was obvious he didn't know how to fight without his quirk. While Todoroki's attacks were wild and unfocused, Jason stuck to a boxing stance throwing hard power punches that slammed into Todoroki. Jab after jab, hook after hook, almost every one of Jason's attacks went through. However Todoroki wasn't taking it lying down. He began trying to copy Jason's moves, eventually settling into something similar to his own boxing stance. However his jury rigged boxing style still wasn't a match for a well trained boxer like Jason. To make matters worse the metal in Jason's gloves made his punches even more effective. Eventually Todoroki went down and he didn't get up. It was called. Jason had won by K.O.

After the match Todoroki came to talk with Jason. "I'm sorry." Todoroki said, "I tried to do what you said but I couldn't. I had planned to open up with my flames but I couldn't bring myself to." Jason looks at Todoroki and smiles saying, "It's okay. Letting go of trauma is hard. The fact that you tried to is good enough for me. We're both too strong to let our past control us forever but we are human. There's no rush to get over your past but you can't fall back into old habits shaped by it either. Now come on number two we've got medals to accept." Walking to the pedestals, Todoroki and Jason join Uraraka in preparing for the awards ceremony. "Hey, where's Iida?" Jason asked. "He's sharing the third place spot." Uraraka tells him that Iida had to go because of a family emergency. The three students got on the podiums which began to rise. As they reached the top, Jason couldn't help it, and stretched out both of his arms making peace signs and smiling. Then All Might fell from the sky to present the medals. "Young Uraraka, you did good, your skills are obvious if unrefined. Hone them and you'll be a true force to be reckoned with. I won't be surprised if I see you on that number one podium next year." All Might said. Uraraka accepted her medal with a smile. "Young Todoroki, I'm sure there is a reason you did not use your flames," All Might said. "Midoriya opened my eyes and showed me that my past didn't have to define me. Smith helped to cement that notion. I hope to be a hero like you, but first I have someone I have to talk to," Todoroki said. "I wish you luck. I'm sure that whoever it is will be happy to talk to you," All Might then gives Todoroki the medal. "And finally our winner, young Smith. It is with great honor that I present you this first place medal. Your technology, ingenuity and skill gave you the edge you needed to win this event. You did well," All Might says as he gives Jason the medal. "Thank you All Might. May I say a few words." Jason asks. "Of course," All Might said. Holding up the medal Jason says, "Guys, I did it. I won."

They were given the next couple of days off to recover from the sports festival. While everyone else was relaxing, Jason was preparing for quite possibly the most important experiment of his life. Lying on what looked like a tanning bed was Uraraka. Sitting at a computer a few feet away was Jason. Are you sure you want to do this? It must cost a lot of money to rent this out just for one day." Uraraka said. "Rent? I built this. It's mine." Jason says casually, " And even if I did rent it, this might be the greatest scientific discovery since the 21st century. It would be worth every yen." Jason types a few things into the computer. "Now you might feel a slight tingling. This is normal. There is nothing wrong and it won't cause any problems." Pressing a key on the computer, the molecular dissector closed. A few seconds passed and it opened again and Uraraka sat up. Jason was staring at the computer screen before he tapped it and some kind of projector came down from the ceiling. It projected a three dimensional image of Uraraka. Before she could ask about it Jason said, "this is a holographic projection of the scan the molecular dissector took. Right now the computer is running every molecule in your body against a quirkless base. When it finds something radically different it will light up in the hologram." As he finished speaking the area around the hologram's fingers lit up. "Now let's see what we have here." Jason said. Grabbing a hold of the hologram he enlarged it until they could see individual cells. Looking at one of the cells they could see that a part of it was highlighted. "What is it?" Uraraka asked. "It is a specialized organelle that controls your quirk. With this information I can replicate it and integrate gravity based tech into my work." Turning to look at her Jason said, "Thank you Uraraka for helping me make this discovery." "No problem, just make me a spaceship and we'll be even." She said with a smile.

Class began the next day and Midoriya was sitting in his seat waiting for class to begin. He had spent the last two days in a sort of active rest. Still going on runs and maintaining his fitness but not actively pushing his limits. Ha noticed that Mineta wasn't in class today but he didn't think much of it assuming that he was just late. Mr. Aizawa entered the room and it was immediately pointed out that he was out of his bandages. "The old lady went a little overboard on her treatments. Anyway, we have a big class today. But before that we start some of you have probably noticed that Mineta is not in class. Despite having impressive grades, due to his lack of combat skills, his poor performance in the sports festival, and his general behavior, Mineta has been transferred to general studies. In his place you will have a new classmate" walking through the door was Jason smith. Bakugo immediately exploded with anger saying, "Why the hell is that cheating bastard here." Aizawa ignored Bakugo's outburst and explained, "As the winner of the sports festival Smith was offered a position in the hero course. When he accepted it was obvious who would be transferred out. He will not be given special treatment however that means that anything he does in his training is fair game for all of you. Take that into account when considering how you can use support items to increase your effectiveness. Now back to class. Today's class will be on hero informatics. Today you'll be picking your hero names." When everyone began freaking out Aizawa quickly took control with the use of his quirk. "This is related to the hero draft picks that I mentioned last time you were in class. Now here are the offers for everyone." Pressing a button on a remote a list of names with the number of offers each person got appeared. Todoroki was sitting pretty at the top with over four thousand offers. Just below him was Jason with around three thousand five hundred. Below him was Uraraka and Iida with one thousand each followed by Kaminari, Yaoyorozu, Kirishima, Bakugo, and Sero. "Your code names will likely be temporary but take them seriously." Aizawa said. Another teacher, Midnight, entered the room. Aizawa explained that she would be in charge of the hero names and would have final say on them. As she passed out white boards everywhere one began to write down their hero names. When Midnight called for people to present, the first to do so was Aoyama. His chosen hero name, 'I cannot stop twinkling' was accepted with little modification. The next was Ashido who chose the code name Alien Queen. Unfortunately it was rejected and she was sent back to rethink it. Asui was next and she chose the name froppy. As people kept going very few were rejected however Bakugo's chooses were both rejected on the basis that the had the word murder in them. The only other odd ones out were Iida and Todoroki who just used their names. While Jason could see Todoroki not being able to think of anything or simply not caring enough to try, Iida was another story. Jason had heard about what happened to Ingenium and while his condition wasn't made public, it didn't take a genius to figure out it was bad. Jason also knew that it was tradition that in the Iida family, when the current Ingenium stepped down the next oldest would take up the name. So it was concerning when after taking longer than everyone but Midoriya and himself, Iida walked to the front and showed that his hero name was Tenya. After him Midoriya went up and his name was concerning but for a different reason. However, finally it was time. He had been waiting till everyone else had gone because he was new. But now it was his turn. Jason walked up to the podium and presented his hero name, "I'm Highrise, the techno hero."
