Edward left around eleven last night, and aside from Emmett divulging my most embarrassing moments, it wasn't a bad time. It'd have been nicer without my brother though, but I'm hoping to get a few minutes alone with Edward today.
"Jeep's loaded up!" Emmett calls out from downstairs as I finish getting ready by pulling on a red sweater.
I double-check myself in the mirror before heading down, and he holds my coat out to me.
"Thanks," I say, sliding my arms in. It's bitter cold out today, and I have my hopes up for a few snowflakes. I don't need a lot, but just enough for one good, white Christmas.
I make sure my treats are secure before laughing at all the gifts we're bringing—which are mostly for the boys. "Do you think I went overboard?"
He nods. "Oh, God, yes, but you always do."
He's not wrong. I love giving gifts, and Amazon makes it a little too easy to shop. Since I've barely worked all month, I spent most of my time shopping and baking.
We get to Carlisle and Esme's just before two as planned, and Jasper comes out to help Emmett unload. His eyes go wide when he sees both the trunk and backseat are full of gifts and baked goods.
"Jesus, Bella," he says.
I laugh. "What? It's my first Christmas home in two years."
As they unload and I make sure my baked goods are handled carefully, Edward pulls up in his truck. He's wearing a nice beige sweater and dark jeans, which is a different look, and I like it. I want so badly to wrap my arms around him and kiss him but have to settle for a quick hug.
He offers to help, so I have him get another box of cookies while I carry some cupcakes inside. Esme has the island cleared off and waiting for my desserts. She grins at the spread I've brought.
"The boys are going to be so hyped up on sugar," she says with a laugh as I hug her before she turns to Edward. "I'm so glad you could join us, Edward."
"I appreciate the invitation," he says as she hugs him. "What else can I help with?"
She shakes her head. "I think Bella and I can take care of this. Everyone else is in the living room, if you want to join them."
"Thanks, Esme," he says, giving me one last look before leaving us alone.
As we set up, Alice comes in to snack, grabbing one of my ornament-looking cupcakes and biting into it. "Mmm, Bella," she says. "These are great."
I smile. "I call them chocolate surprise because of the frosting in the middle. I'm glad you like it. Eat them before I do."
It's not long after putting everything out that the rest of the family in the house come looking for the goods. I love feeding my family, but I made sure to try out some sugar-free and vegan treats that go over just as well. Of course, the boys refuse to even try them, so Esme's right—they're all hyped up not long after eating.
Eventually, we all gather in the living room for gifts, and I sit on the floor with the boys, watching them tear open their gifts. Seth is a little gentler, but they all love their gifts, and I'm so thrilled.
Esme and Alice went all out for dinner and it's so incredibly delicious. I love sitting around the table with everyone, making new memories. Edward sits across from me and seems like a perfect fit with us. I can't help but keep my eyes on him all evening.
This is bliss to me.
Thanks to May, Nole, Fran, Brier, and Meg for prereading and Sally for Beta'ing.
Still slow on updating. The health and mental issues continue and I'm not in the right place to read certain reviews, but I couldn't help give some more.
