Kana's Manakete Mates

Uncertain of how to deal with his feelings for his friend Chiki in Askr, Kana seeks guidance from his mentor, Tiki on this endeavor. She agrees, though unknown to Kana, Naga's Voice on how to bring the Dragons' Spawn and Scion together would be something he never would've expected. And change the relationship between all three of them irreversibly.

3. Scales and Sweets

Author's Note: omfg, I'm not gonna lie, this chapter almost broke me. I never expected it to get as long as it did. Nevertheless, here we are. The 3rd chapter of this fic is something else, if you thought the last two chapters were smut heavy, huh boy... at the very least, I hope you all enjoy it.

The forests that surrounded the Order of Heroes castle were peaceful areas, far enough away from the structure for some privacy but still close enough to ot be out of the way. It was the perfect place for some to get some rest or just enjoy a break in nature, and for others, it was a great place to play.

"Kana! Get back here!"

"You'll have to catch me first!"

Kana laughed cheerfully at the playful growl Chiki made behind him, spurring the Dragon Spawn to speed up and away from the Dragon Scion. Yet when he looked back to see how far the distance between them had gotten, he was surprised that it seemed further than he would've expected.

"I didn't run that fast, did I…?"

Kana was confused as he no longer saw Chiki behind him. "Chiki!" He called out, looking around in all directions for any sign of her only to find none. A brief swell of anxiety and worry spurred within him.

Only to be replaced with surprise as he was suddenly tackled and proceeded to roll over the grassy ground. Eventually, he stopped on his back, feeling a new weight atop of him.

"Got ya!" Chiki shouted triumphantly, looking down at Kana with a fitting, wide grin. Her hands pressed down on either side of his head, keeping her upper body up while her lower was supported by her knees beside his hips. Parts of her long, green hair cascaded down on either side of his head, tunneling his vision up towards her face and wide, green eyes.

Eyes he couldn't help but smile at.

"Yeah! You got me!" He agreed cheerfully, already forgetting about the brief anxiety he felt from her quick disappearance. His response was enough to make Chiki's face brighten just a tad more before soon settling into something more relaxed and soothing as she leaned down, placing the entirety of her weight atop of him as she made herself comfortable.

Kana said nothing, even so his actions were enough of a response as he wrapped his arms around her. It made her nuzzle her face against his neck while she placed her arms on his chest, her legs bent and pressed against his sides as he could feel the skin of her limbs. Her thin, pink dress left little to the imagination as his lack of armor also helped him to feel more of her developing curves.

They laid there together, peacefully basking in the moment. After having so much fun together, the two were more than willing to take time to just also enjoy the quieter moments, moments that they cherish with just each other.

"Mhmm~"

The green-haired manakete let out a satisfied hum as she continued to snuggle with her mate. Here, under the shade of a tree in this beautiful weather, the environment only added to the pleasant atmosphere as it all felt so relaxing. However what she enjoyed the most was of course Kana himself, the feeling of him holding her, the sound of his heartbeat or breathing, just him.

And it prompted her to be a little bold.

Kana's eyes opened up in mild surprise when he felt a pair of soft lips press against his own. A kiss that lasted only for a few moments yet felt so gentle and cheeky as well. He was unable to prevent a smile from the grin his mate gave at his reaction, and he wanted to pay her back.

"Mhhmm~"

Chiki let out a content, muffled coo when Kana gave her another kiss. Their bodies pressed against each other a little harder, yet their attention was focused mostly on the other's lips. Eyes closed as they were content to enjoy this peaceful yet enjoyable exchange. Just love and no lust as they kept their mouths closed and long tongues back.

Eventually, though, they pulled back, staring at each other. Their content smiles grew wider and wider until becoming goofy enough that they laughed, unable to help the positive feelings that radiated from them.

"I love you."

Kana's statement was sudden, yet was filled with such honesty and lack of hesitation that it briefly caught Chiki off guard enough to blush. Yet the girl quickly gained her bearings as she flashed him a grin and narrow eyes.

"I know~"

She did her best to sound confident and sultry in her tone, almost purring her words. Yet there was clear playfulness to them.

And so Kana decided to play her game.

"I don't think you do."

Chiki raised a brow at his words and the playful confidence he held in his voice and face, yet she didn't lose her grin. "Oh really?" She leaned her face further towards his. Their noses were just a mere inch apart, perhaps less as they stared into the other's eyes.

Kana nodded his head. "I love you so much that it might be too much for one person!" He exclaimed.

Chiki couldn't hold back her giggles at his enthusiasm, breaking her playful confidence act mostly. "Well, in that case, it's a good thing Big-Sis Ti-Ti is also taking some of that love as well."

Now Kana was unable to hold back his chuckles at her words, "Yeah," He agreed.

Chiki found her playful teasing and confidence returning, finding motivation to press her attack. "Hmm, goodness Kana. You say you love me so much, but for that love to extend to two versions of me, well, goodness."

She wanted to give him a playful pout, yet all she could manage was a small smile as she looked at him lovingly.

Kana returned the gaze with one of his own. "As I said, it's really big." He reminded her. "But…but I'm glad that if it went to anyone, it was you~"

Chiki's cheeks lit up while her smile widened, unable to stop the flames of love that were stirred up from Kana's waves. However suddenly, her positive reactions disappeared, eyes briefly widening as though she realized something. And suddenly, she looked away.

Kana was confused by her actions, even a bit worried. Unfortunately, before Kana could attempt to try and ask his mate if something was wrong, they were both interrupted by new arrivals.

"Well well well, what do we have here?"

"Huh?"

Kana and Chiki both tilted their heads up towards the source of the voice, finding a grinning, light green-haired manakete looking down at them both with purple eyes.

"Nowi!?"

Kana was surprised by her sudden appearance, especially with her being upside-down from his perspective.

"That's me!" She exclaimed with a bright smile, taking some joy in his reaction with hands behind her back as she leaned down towards the two. Her smile turned into a cheeky grin as she then said, "Now what are you two love dragons up to~?"

The Dragon Scion and Spawn looked away with blushing faces, Kana a bit more so due to the Nowi's attire. Her lack of fabric exposed her flat stomach or subtle yet enacting curve of her waist, with what little fabric that did cover her chest failing to hide the small bit of underboob he glanced from his angle. Still, Kana made no effort to separate from his mate. At least until Kana glanced back at their newly announced spectator to find that she wasn't alone.

"Myrrh?"

He called out to the girl, a bit unsure of her appearance. Yet there was no doubt it was here. Her purple twin tails were one thing, not to mention the red coat and white dress she had on. Yet what stood out the most were her large, yellow-green wings.

The girl perked up slightly at the call of her name. She'd been holding her hands over her chest as she took a moment to look at him before flashing him a smile.

"Hi, Kana." She greeted him as warmly as her smile.

Kana gave her a small nod back. Though before he could even attempt to say a word, Nowi spoke up once again.

"So while I wouldn't want to get in the way of your little date, unfortunately, Chiki has a date with us right now~"

Kana blinked at Nowi's words, though a flash of realization came onto Chiki's. "Oh!" She gasped out, quickly looking back at her friend, "Sorry! Time slipped by me…"

Nowi gave her fellow manakete a gentle smile. "It's fine. I understand losing track of time in stuff like this. But I think me and Myrrh already gave you enough extra time. Some come on!" She urged.

Her words prompted Chiki to perk up, quickly removing herself from Kana and getting onto her feet. She didn't even notice the brief look of disappointment that came over Kana when he lost the sensation of her body from him. Still, the youngest manakete of the group quickly recomposed himself as he sat up, finding himself unable to help but ask, "So what are you guys doing?"

The girls' focused their gaze on him, making Kana feel a bit unnerving with their attention all on him as he hoped his question didn't seem too prying. Luckily Nowi didn't seem to mind answering as she gave him a reply.

"We're having some fun dressing up~"

Kana blinked at those words. "Dressing up?" He repeated, tilting his head slightly.

Nowi nodded with her usual enthusiasm, "Yep! Specifically, we're trying to pick out costumes for the Harvest Festival later this week!" She clarified.

Kana's face lit up in realization, a small "Oh" leaving his lips.

"Would you…would you like to join us?"

Kana was taken a bit off-guard by Myrrh's sudden suggestion. However, not as off-guard as Chiki and Nowi both, their eyes briefly widened, followed by Myrrh herself as she almost gasped, suddenly realizing what she just said.

"Thanks for the offer but, I already promised my Mama we'd go get costumes together." He answered a bit bashfully. A chuckle passed through his mouth as he rubbed his hair and briefly closed his eyes. He felt a bit bad for rejecting Myrrh's offer, having not noticed the girls' reactions. Still, he had promised his Mama. They've had less and less time to spend with one another in Askr. He just hoped she didn't pry much into his relationship with Chiki - or Tiki - for that matter.

It was hard for him to lie to her, after all.

Kana didn't notice the sighs of relief the girls gave before he opened his eyes back up, not noticing Myrrh's reddening face as she quickly turned around to hide it. Nowi acted fast as she took hold of Chiki, and then Myrrh's hand.

"In any case, we gotta head out now. Later Kana!" She called out to him as she pulled both girls beside him, Myrrh looking down towards the ground and Chiki off to the side. Though before they could get far, Nowi stopped and looked back at the Dragon Scion over her shoulder to say.

"Hope you're looking forward to the festival, Kana. Cause you're in for quite a few tweets and tricks~"

And with that, she, Kana, and Myrrh headed off, leaving Kana by himself to process her words.

And raise a brow in mild confusion, and anticipation at what they meant.

Kana gave a small hum as he found himself on a landing to the large, long staircase that connected the Order of Heroes' castle down the hill, with this particular staircase leading into a trail that connected to a town nearby. The town where the Harvest Festival would be held.

With the sun setting and from his height, Kana could see the lights that lit up the town below. And he could just imagine the closer down he was, the more his enhanced senses would be able to pick up everything the festival had to offer, especially the treats.

He instinctively licked his lips a bit in anticipation. After having a light lunch to leave room for the festival, Kana could hardly contain his giddiness. He couldn't wait to explore and partake in the festival. Of course, with his mate.

Kana's anticipation fell slightly as he wondered where Chiki could be. He had shown up a bit earlier than they originally agreed on, but he felt as though enough time had passed for her to start showing up. Or perhaps his nerves were just getting to him.

Already he had seen dozens of heroes make their way down these steps for the festival - including another, younger version of his Aunt Sakura who had been wearing a rather adorable cat-themed attire - with many of them wearing unique costumes for the event. Hardly any were risque, yet more than a few were quite the sight.

Though he suddenly found his own sight being blocked.

"My my, what a cute little dragon I've stumbled upon~ So ripe for corruption~"

Kana's body went tense, body shuddering from the hot breath that tickled his ear from the sultry yet unnerving voice whispering in it. It took him a moment to register the several sensations around him. Gloved hands wrapped around his head, with the fingers free and bare with the flesh he felt over parts of his eyes. He also felt a soft, warm, and firm sensation against the back of his neck. And there was an almost ticklish sensation besides his head which he assumed to be from the hair of whoever spoke to him.

He knew this person. The sound of their voice, the smell he took in, their touch, it all was so familiar to him. However, something about it was different.

"...Tiki?" He called out, unsure and a bit unnerved, yet still a bit hopeful.

The response was silence, though it only lasted for a moment before he heard a chuckle. A chuckle that sounded so soft and warm that it made the young manakete feel at ease.

"And smart too, just what I expect from my favorite student~"

Kana couldn't help but smile brightly at those words as he felt her release him. The words she spoke sounded nothing like the tone she used before as he quickly turned to face her, only to find himself taken-aback by her current attire.

"Whoa…"

Kana was practically in awe at what his mentor had decided to wear tonight. It looked pretty much like her regular outfit, just with alternate colors. The parks of her attire which were red before now sported a black color such as her dress, boots, and open-finger gloves with dark red linings in places like some edges of her dress or the middle of the wrapping that kept her ponytail in check. Similarly, the parts of her attire which were pink such as her cape, stockings, and sash were now dyed a dark, blood-like red.

Yet one of the more stark aspects was her hair and eyes. Her once luscious, light green hair was now a white color, with her green eyes dyed red. They were so striking he didn't even notice other accessories such as her red painted nails or the golden, thorn-like vine that wrapped over one of her upper arms.

Her appearance was such a contrast to Kana, as if her usual look of divinity was replaced with some more, corrupted , made evident by some of the rips and tears in her attire such as her cape. It made her seem almost unnerving, and Kana found himself conflicted on how to respond.

Tiki was unable to hold back a grin at her student's reaction, though she kept her reaction composed to something fitting of her current appearance. Proceeding to lean towards her student, Kana couldn't resist the temptation to glance down at the seductive valley of her bosom as it bounced slightly in her dress, though whether this was planned by her he wasn't sure. Still, he found his gaze mostly focused on her, her eyes narrow as ifa predator was catching its prey before she spoke with that unnerving and sultry tone.

"Are you curious as to what happened to me, young Manakete? If so, I'd be more than glad to show you~"

Kana was on the verge of another shudder as Tiki was now inches from his face with the back of her hand brushing up the side of his face. Her grin was almost taunting as it looked like she would just lean right in and nip at his face. Luckily someone came to save him from her grasp.

"Come now, Tiki, I think you're starting to scare him," A gentle, soothing voice playfully scolded nearby.

Kana turned his head towards the side, a feat that was harder than he expected with Tiki gazing at him. Thankfully the way her eyes also glanced to the side along with his curiosity helped him to manage. And once again he found himself slightly taken aback by the sight he saw.

There stood Rhea, wearing an outfit that while less striking than Tiki, still fit the night's activities fittingly. Taking aspects of her regular attire in colors and style, it was elegant and regal with a witch-like design. Blue stood out predominantly as the color used by the main dress, a dress that clung rather tightly along her curves. Dull, golden-like patterns appeared over the dress, such as the end of its long sleeves that opened up in longer cuffs. The collar of the dress stuck outwards with small little spikes in a similar fashion to her regular dress. Yet unlike her usual attire, a generous portion of her neckline was showcased without exposing any cleavage, even if the dress already gave a decent idea of their side with how her chest stood out.

It also appeared as though she was wearing that same white dress underneath Kana had worn before, evident with the long slits of her blue dress on either side. Other than that, beige fabric clung to her shoulder, extending into transparent drapes down her arms. Similar coloring appeared in some of the accessories she wore such as the chains that wrapped around her waist or the emblem she wore over her chest. Her outfit topped off with a large, witch-like hat that was blue like her dress but had a beige underside and lines on the trim. Beige marble-chains wrapping around the top and a few beige emblems on the front such as a heart.

Kana had to blink his eyes as he took in the sight. With Tiki merely chuckling at her friend as she once again took on her usual composing and gentle tone.

" Hehe~ Well isn't that the point of this night?" She jested with a mirthful smile.

Rhea sighed, shaking her head slightly while she tapped the staff she held against the stone stairs. The action briefly brought Kana's attention to the wooden accessory and the emerald jewel embedded within the circular top, with the part just below wrapped in a purple and dark-blue bow.

Kana decided to keep on teasing her student, quickly making her way beside her friend as she asked, "So Kana, how do we look?"

Rhea glanced towards her friends, rolling her eyes slightly yet unable to help the small smile she held. Reluctantly joining in Tiki's little game as she gazed at Kana with a small smile while Tiki gave him a grin. The younger manakete once again found himself stunned, unsure of what to say as they both look amazing, though he was still processing Tiki's attire as he kept glancing at it more between the two.

"You both look…great!" He was eventually able to answer, channeling some of his inner enthusiasm for his response. His smile returned, with his awe turning into excitement for the effort they put into their attire.

The two women were unable to suppress their chuckles at his reaction, though they settled down as they noticed Kana staring at his teaching in awe once again.

"Come now, Kana. Am I truly that striking?" The Voice of Naga asked teasingly, snapping the boy from his trance as he shook his head, becoming a bit embarrassed as he looked away.

Rhea gave him a sympathetic gaze that reflected in her voice as she spoke, "It's ok, Kana. It was quite a shock to me as well." She told him, helping to bring Kana's attention back towards them as the archbishop turned towards her 'corrupted' friend. "Really now, I still can't understand why you chose such a theme for tonight?"

Tiki chuckled at her friend's confusion, "I was a bit hesitant as well, truthfully. But the more I thought about it, the more it felt like a good way to conquer some old fears, and poke fun at a few old enemies~"

Rhea took a moment to breathe in, seemingly still not liking Tiki's choice but accepting it. The two then turned towards the young silver-haired manakete as they both gave him warm smiles.

"Speaking of attire, you're looking quite fetching, Kana." Tiki complimented, both honestly and playfully as she flashed him a wink. Rhea nodded in agreement.

Kana gained a bashful look and blushed at their compliments as he was reminded of the attire his mother helped him pick out. It was a form-fitting black suit, with the top opened up to expose the gray undershirt that was further showcased with his sleeves. A short, dull, dark-red vest was worn as well, contrasting the colors well and adding another formal element.

Though what helped to sell this attire as fitting for the night was his long cape that was black and dark red on the exterior and interior respectively. A tall collar that extended outwards past his neck helped to draw attention to the dark purple scarf wrapped around his neck, held together with the golden emblem that held a blue jewel within.

"You're gonna be a treat for all the girls tonight~"

Kana's blush deepened as he recalled his witch mother's words, further fueling Tiki and Rhea's smiles from his reaction.

"Would you like us to keep you company until Chiki arrives?" Tiki suddenly offered, alreading knowing why he was waiting here despite him not having revealed it. She didn't want to leave her student by himself in case he was feeling nervous or anxious after all.

Kana, thought, shook his head. "It's fine, she should be here soon." He assured her with an honest and grateful smile at her proposal. "I wouldn't want to keep you two away from enjoying the festival."

Tiki and Rhea gave him both understanding nods, accepting his rejection of the offer without much fuss. Tiki left her student with a loving ruffle of his head before she and Rhea continued to make their way down. Kana himself found himself a bit entranced by the sight of their rears rolling and swaying with each step, part of him believed Tiki was doing it a bit on purpose, though Rhea's movements appear all-natural, and in that way, were even more impressive.

He shook his head, closing his eyes and hiding the divine sight from his gaze until it was too far down for him to properly see, with his mentor and her friend turning into smaller and smaller specks as they made their way towards the festival.

Kana let out a sigh, a bit conflicted about the encounter, though mostly glad that it happened. It was a nice break and distraction as he once again waited for his mate.

Luckily he wouldn't have to wait for long.

"Kan-Kan!"

The young Prince of Valla turned his head almost as excited as the voice that called out to him, finding its source in the green-haired girl that was making her way down the steps to join in.

And jumped into his arms the second she was close enough.

"Whoa!"

Kana gasped as he just barely caught his mate, hearing her giggle as she gave him a quick hug before stepping back.

"What do you think!?" She asked him with infectious excitement about her dress, doing a little twirl to showcase more of it.

Kana tok a moment to exame her attire. A lightly shredded red dress that gained more rips the further down it went until ending around her thighs, tied up by a knot on one of her shoulders. On the other shoulder was the knot to a pink sash that ran around one of her hips. Underneath the shredder skirt of her dress were striped red-and-pink short shorts, leaving much of her fair limbs on display until halfway down her legs. Her feet were encased in baggy, puffy pink sandals, kept in place with red laces and open-toed sandals.

However there were plenty of accessories on her as well. Such as the pink horns that poked out of her hair from her tierra, or the red tail with a sharp, pointed end. A large, pink-and-red striped bow kept her ponytail in place, with the same pattern repeated on her scarf-like choker or the fingerless gloves. Yet what stood out the most were her blue wings as they peeked out from the back of her dress.

She looked adorable, cute, amazing, and Kana let her hear his honest thoughts.

"You look amazing!" He exclaimed with a bright smile that made her bashfully grin and blush with a laugh.

"What about us then!?"

Kana's gaze was pulled away from his mate back towards the stairs, finding another pair of manaketes making their way down in Nowi and Myrrh, with the source of the voice coming from the former as Kana took a moment to look over their outfits.

The youthful manakte wore a revealing, purple witch costume. Her top exposed pretty much the same amount of skin as usual save for her arms as they were covered by almost comically oversized sleeves. Black, purple-trimmed short shorts exposed most of her legs, held up by a white belt with a green lantern attached to her hip and a large, pink bow on her lower back.

Smaller versions of the pink bow dotted parts of her outside, such as her small, purple and black heeled boots. There were also a pair of small bows attached to the parts of her top that connected to her black choker which covered her neck, though the green jewel accessory she wore at the front helped bring some attention to the small bit of cleavage she had. Her outfit finished off with a purple witches' hat that was as oversized as her sleeves. Her sleeves were further emphasized as she just grabbed a hold of her broom through the fabric, with the prop having purple wrapping around the brush and a crooked, zig-zagging handle.

Her outfit looked completely fitting if Kana was being honest. Though he was a bit more impressive with what Myrrh wore behind her.

She wore a double-layered dress, colored prominently in black but with a striking shade of red for her inner skirt as it went from her waist down to just a bit below her knees. There were also some edges of the black part of her dress lined with a yellowish-green color, similar to her still present wings and reflected in areas such as down the split in the middle or the wing-like fabric under her double-layered sleeves. That wing-like fabric was connected to the back of her dress and her puffy, red-fur wrist cuffs.

The rest of her dress was split apart at the front and back, though more prominently to her front to showcase her red skirt while the rest of the black fabric went further down and pooled to the sides of her feet. It brought some attention to her legs, such as the long, purple and orange-striped socks she had on, along with her dress shoes or the red cuffs on them and identical to the ones on her wrist. Similar fabric to the cuffs was used for her scarf as well, with her costume topped off - literally - by the black, pointy, ear-like accessory on her head.

It took Kana a bit longer than he would've to finish his examination until it seemed like he was just staring, but as soon as he did he smiled at both girls and said, "You both look great."

Nowi gave him a small, "Hmm" , crossing her arms and raising a brow as she debated on teasing him about how he called Chiki amazing and just her and Myrrh great. Though the latter seemed fine with the compliment as she returned the favor.

"Thank you, Kana. And you look nice as well." She told him with a small smile, bringing the girls' attention to his own outfit as Chiki and Nowi gave a closer look, both nodding approvingly. Nowi gave him a wink and grin while Chiki showcased a bright smile, wrapping her arms around one of his own as she snuggled up against his side.

"In any case, Kana. While I'm sure you'd love to take your little devil for a date tonight, you've got a playful witch and batty dragon here too. And you wouldn't be as cruel as to leave us all alone now, would you?"

Nowi gave Kana some pouty eyes, making him feel a bit nervous and confused, considering they had all agreed to head together to the festival after all. Still, he couldn't help but glance towards Chiki who was rolling her eyes at Nowi's words. Though when she caught his gaze, she gave him a little shrug which prompted her mate to nod at the witch in front of them.

Nowi's pout instantly transformed into a bright smile, "Well in that case, what are we waiting for!? Let's go!"

Without warning she started to make her way down the steps, urging the others to follow along. Kana and Chiki soon make their way behind her, also excited to join the festival. Yet when Kana glanced back to check on Myrrh, he was surprised to see her beside him instead.

Her hands were raised slightly at her sides, helping to pull up the ends of her dress so that it didn't snag on anything over the stairs. And didn't look at him, instead, keeping her head down and towards Nowi. The lower parts of her head hidden by her scarf, he failed to see the subtle blush she had, or the small smile she stood just a bit closer to him as the ends of her wing now brushed against his back and side.

Kana was unable to help a smile as he released another shot, the sound of a small bolt of lightning crackling through the air and towards his target. One by one he knocked targets down with surprising accuracy, he figured his training had helped, even if his current method of ranged attack was a bit different from what he was used to.

The group of manaketes had decided to partake in one of the festival games, one where they used specially rigged and far less powerful tomes of thunder to shoot at and knock down specific targets. And while the girls had some trouble with using the tomes, Kana found he was able to handle it rather well, probably from the lessons his uncle Leo and even his mother gave him at times.

"Ha!"

Kana couldn't help himself from letting out an enthusiastic cry as another of his shots hit the mark, enough to signal a victory and win him a prize. When the old man running this booth gestured for him to choose a prize, Kana took a moment to glance at Chiki, seeing her slumping slightly as she had lost her game and hadn't noticed his win, same with the other girls it looked like.

And so wanting to cheer her up, Kana pointed towards a specific prize on the middle shelf, one that the man gave him. Kana couldn't suppress a grin in anticipation as he held the prize and turned towards his mate.

"Chiki?"

His voice snapped her out from her small daze, prompting her to look up and turn towards him. Whatever look of disappointment she had from her loss was instantly forgotten as she laid eyes on what he was extending towards her: a blue-jeweled lantern that looked almost like a dragon stone, with a small pumpkin theme on its top and a golden wire wrapping around the jewel.

She held the lantern for a moment noticing the short, eerie dark, purple smoke that came out, and she was in awe. Though it only lasted for a moment before she suddenly looked back up at her mate and gave him a grateful kiss. One that she made sure to end with a loud and wet pop.

Kana's only response was to chuckle bashfully at her actions, still, he was mostly happy. Though he soon found his attention guided behind him when he felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Good job with that win." Nowi congratulated him with a smile, only to then shift to the side and gestured behind her as she then said, "Think you can help her with some tips?"

Kana's gaze was brought to Myrrh, watching as the girl struggled to land a hit. She didn't let it show, but he saw the brief glimpse of frustration and disappointment that tinged her face whenever she failed to hit a target.

Of course Kana wanted to help, yet he wasn't able to make that decision before it was made for him as he felt a rather firm push on his back from Nowi's hand. He looked back at the girl who gave him a wink, then glanced towards Chiki as he saw her give him a small yet approving nod.

Walking up to his friend, he took a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking.

"Need help?" He asked, politely and firmly, to announce his presence to her.

The spooky dragon jumped up slightly at his voice, having not noticed him before turning to face him. She seemed a bit embarrassed and conflicted about what to say. However she soon settled into a somewhat sad look and tone as she admitted her troubles with a simple, "Yes…"

Kana merely gifted her a bright and reassuring smile, glancing towards her hands and how she held the tome. His eyes narrowed as he took on an analytical gaze before coming up with some helpful advice.

"First off, for a spell like this, it's good to try and line your sight up with either your fingers or the back of your hand, since that's a neat trick to figure out where the spell will go towards."

Myrrh took his words in, thinking on them for a moment before raising her hand once more and adjusting it slightly. "Like this?" She asked a bit tad timidly, glancing at him with some uncertainty.

Kana gave her stance another analytical gaze. It was the right idea, just needed a little more. Without warning he suddenly extended his hands out towards her, grabbing her arm while putting another on her shoulder. He didn't even notice the way she tensed up or the mild looks of surprise from the girls behind him before he finished readjusting her stance.

"Try now," He suggested motivity, making Myrrh glance at him with some uncertainty before taking a deep breath to compose herself. And afterward, she launched a spell, one that hit her target with greatly improved accuracy.

"That was great!" Kana exclaimed with a bright smile.

Myrrh herself looked surprised, gazing down at her hand in mild shock at her as she realized that shot had come from her. She tried again and hit another target. And once she took that in, she couldn't help but glance at Kana and give him an excited smile.

Just like that she started to shoot off spell after spell, some taking longer for her to aim than others. Some missed their marks, yet quite a few didn't. In any case, it was a large leap from her previous display as Kana and Nowi both look excited for her, cheering her on. Chiki, though, felt conflicted. She was happy for her friend, truely, however she wasn't sure how to feel about the help Myrrh had gotten as she let her gaze drop slightly towards the ground.

The old man smiled at Myrrh as he handed her the prize. She didn't hit enough targets as Kana to get something grand, yet it was still a treat for the girl, several in fact as he handed her two handfuls of candy.

Myrrh couldn't hold back her smile as she received the treats, giving the old man a grateful nod and smile before turning her attention to Kana. Without a word, she extended her hand out, a silent gesture of her thanks as she offered him to take one.

Kana nodded his head at her, a bright smile on his face as he chose one of the treats. Though to his surprise, that wasn't how Myrrh wanted to give her thanks as she suddenly wrapped her arms around him and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. It stunned Kana as he felt the girl tighten the hug for just a moment and softly rest her face on his shoulder. Before he could respond or return the hug, she pulled back, but not without whispering a soft, grateful "Thank you." to his ear, the final push needed to make him blush.

Luckily, Myrrh didn't seem to notice his reaction as she proceeded to make her way to Nowi, handing the girl a piece of candy as well which the eternally youthful manakete-witch accepted eagerly, after giving her friend a quick hug. And finally, Myrrh stood in front of Chiki.

Chiki lifted her gaze when she noticed her friend standing in front of her, yet whatever conflicted feelings she showed on her face were instantly dashed when she saw the smile on Myrrh's face. Myrrh didn't even offer Chiki a candy before hugging her, surprising the dragon's scion as her Great Dragon brethren gave her a tight and grateful embrace. The girl whispering a "Thank you~"

Chiki's surprise briefly transformed into realization as her lips settled into a soft and small smile, returning the embrace as the two manaketes just hugged each other. Though while Myrrh's face and smile were filled with happiness, Chiki couldn't stop hers from souring a bit, doing her best to not make it show.

" Mmm~ Candy isn't that rare from where I came from, but I gotta say, one of the best things about being part of the Order is how much easier it is to get food like this! And with so much more variety as well!"

Nowi's words were met with nods from the others as they continued to enjoy their treats while taking a seat for a quick break. Myrrh didn't have candy where she was from, so she was more than willing to enjoy the snacks as best she could. Nowi meanwhile, focused more on her lollipop, mostly sucking on it, though somethings pulling it out and giving it a few licks with her long tongue.

Kana though, found it a bit harder to enjoy his treats as he sat beside Chiki. He wasn't sure, perhaps it was instincts but felt like there was something off about his mate, as though something was bothering her. For the most part she seemed ok, yet part of him thought she wasn't as cheerful as her usual self would normally be. Just a minute ago he had offered to share some candy, only for her to give him a small shake of her head and a gentle, "No thanks~"

He was starting to get worried, to the point that he was ready to pull her away and ask Nowi and Myrrh if they could have a bit of time alone. However before he could even suggest that, Nowi's voice interrupted.

" Ohh~ Let's try that out!"

Nowi leaned forward in her seat, her arm extended and finger pointed to guide the group's attention towards a rather distinct attraction, a large tent with an eerie-looking atmosphere. Small groups enter in one opening before exiting another, with some of them looking rather shook.

Before anyone in the group could give their thoughts, Nowi was already up and out of her seat. "Come on!" She urged excitedly, making her way towards the tent. The rest of the group followed her, first Myrrh, and then Chiki after a few more moments, not even glancing back at Kana as he felt a tinge of sorrow. Still, he tried to forget such emotions as he also stood up, determined now more than ever to talk to his mate. Alone.

Just before the group could enter the tent, they were stopped by the attendant at the front as they held their hand out towards them.

"Sorry, but the max for a group is just three people. You guys will need to split up in halves." They told them, slightly apologetic.

Kana's eyes widened a bit as he saw this as the perfect opportunity to get some alone time with Chiki. Unfortunately, that plan was dashed by Nowi's actions.

"Come on!" The youthful manakete exclaimed, grabbing her fellow green-haired friend and pulling her inside, not giving anyone an option of even discussing the group splitting up and making the pairings herself.

Kana and Myrrh blinked in mild surprise, finding themselves alone together at the entrance as they suddenly realized they had to go in together. Kana glanced at her, and she glanced back, they both looked unsure before she flashed him a small smile, one Kana returned as they waited for their turn.

After almost a minute passed since Chiki and Nowi entered, the attendant then gestured for the two to join. Immediately after entering, Kana and Myrrh found the eerie atmosphere that exuded from the tent far more potent within. There was a small chill in the air, and the ground held a fog that slightly covered and hid their feet. Their vision wasn't helped by the dim-lightening present within as candles of green, blue, purple, and orange color were used to light the way and path for them and not much else. They saw several unique and unsettling shadows on the walls, just like they heard several subtle yet distinct noises that would've made most tense up.

However Myrrh herself looked rather calm from what Kana noticed. She looked so calm in fact that Kana found himself more focused on her than the small little eerie props that littered their path.

"Ahh!"

"Huh!"

Kana gave a small gasp at the sudden scare that came from the side, someone dressed in a long, oversized cloak jumping out from their hiding spot. Yet they seemed a bit caught off-guard by how unimpressed Myrrh appeared as she looked towards the person stoically.

Myrrh didn't say a word as she turned and continued down the path, prompting Kana to walk with her as well and leave the slightly confused scarer behind.

"Don't get frightened easily?" Kana inquired a bit curiously.

The girl glanced at him before looking down for a moment, pondering his question before responding. "The place where I'm from, where I grew it, it's called the Dark Woods, and this place isn't that much scarier than some of the places around there. So I supposed this doesn't phase me that much." She explained.

She seemed rather honest with her words, with no reason to lie or downplay her feelings. And for the most part, Kana believed her. However it was her hand that made him worry, her hand was slightly shaking.

He didn't say a word, instead, he let instinct guide him as he took her hand into his own. The action caused Myrrh to react more than anything else in the tent so far. She tensed up, letting out a small, "Ep!?" as though something else had taken hold of her before she realized it was him when she looked down at him, looking at him confused.

Kana merely gave her a soft smile as he said, "Even if it's not as scary as to where you lived, that doesn't mean you still can't get scared, right?" He asked, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.

Myrrh looked at him with slightly wide eyes. Her cheek blushed quite a bit as she was lucky he couldn't see it well with the current lightning. Though her surprise faded as she glanced down, hiding her face slightly in her scarf. She didn't let go of his hand, instead, returning the grip as well.

The two continued to make their way through the laid-out path, encountering more scares that were quite good. Yet Kana was able to handle them thanks to Myrrh's presence, and Myrrh herself was able to deal with them not alone as she squeezed Kana's hands for reassurance quite a few times.

Eventually, they found themselves exiting the tent, the atmosphere transforming around them instantly as they needed a moment to readjust to the more festive and bustling outside. The two glanced at each other, saying not a word yet exchanging grateful smiles for the experience. Yet even outside, the two didn't let go of the other's hand, or more accurately, Myrrh would allow him to let go yet as she continued to have a firm grip on his hand.

They took a few more steps into the street, looking around for Chiki and Nowi to regroup, with Kana spotting the latter off to the side after a few moments.

"Over there!" He exclaimed, pulling Myrrh along as the girl let out a small gasp before keeping up with him. But as the two got closer to Nowi, they noticed how she seemed to be looking around a bit worried, and that Chiki wasn't with her.

"Nowi?" Kana called out, startling his friend slightly as she turned to look at him with a look that made Kana worry.

"Where's Chiki?" he asked, getting more and more anxious by the moment, especially with the look Nowi gave next.

"Huh?"

"Whoa!"

"Careful!"

Chiki ignored the surprised gasps of the people she ran past, instead, keeping up her sprint as she put more and more distance from herself and her mate. She needed to, otherwise, she didn't know what her conflicting emotions would make her if she saw him.

But why were they conflicted?

Chiki slowed down her pace, head hung low as she thought back on the previous events and who they involved. Why, why was she letting her emotions get the better of her? Why couldn't she control them even though she understood what was happening?

Yet despite knowing where her mate's heart lay, knowing that his feelings for her were true and strong, she couldn't help herself from feeling jealousy at the attention he was giving Myrrh despite how much he was already giving her. And when she saw them exiting the tent holding hands, she needed to get away. Barely an explanation to Nowi before running off.

She glanced down at the lantern she had been holding, the lantern Kana had gifted her. It made her so happy, but right now, she only felt guilt at her actions and feelings. No matter how much she understood, no matter how much she knew, she couldn't control that selfish, needy part of her.

"Oh!?"

"Ah!?"

Chiki and someone else gasped in surprise as they bumped into one another, with the former already about to apologize. Except the latter was quicker.

"I'm so sorry, are you o-Chiki?"

The green-haired manakete looked up to find none other than Ninian standing there, looking down at her slightly surprised. Chiki also returned a look of surprise, both at her sudden appearance and outfit.

The dragon-dancer looked to be wearing a kimono version of her regular attire with a similar ice-blue hue and golden lining. The dress exposed her neckline and parts of her shoulders while still highlighting some of her curves. She had a translucent veil around her arms and back patterned with snowflakes, and a lining of candy decorations around her hips. Those weren't the only candy accessories she wore as she also had a basket on her head. A choker of the same pattern as the basket and her kimono lining wrapped around her neck, with her also deciding to forgo any shoes as well.

Chiki must've been staring at her for a long time. Why, she wasn't sure, but it was long enough to prompt Ninian to ask another question as she noticed something.

"Chiki, why are you alone?" She inquired, finding it strange for the manakete to be alone after how eager she always seemed to be with at least one other person, "Shouldn't you be enjoying the festival with your friends, Kana, or your Mother?"

The Dragon Scion widened her eyes briefly, quickly thinking of an excuse to give. "Ah! Well, Mother wanted to try enjoying the festival by herself, and I was here already with some friends! I just…decided to wander off on my own for a bit! Enjoy the festival by myself and see what I can find!" She answered, already regretting her choice of words as she saw Ninian's concern only deepen.

"Chiki, did something happen?"

Her voice was gentle and filled with worry, enough to make the green-haired girl wince and look away. She couldn't lie, not to a friend as dear as Ninian, and so she sighed. Taking a deep breath, she composed herself before asking in a low voice, "Can we…can we go sit down somewhere?"

Ninian nodded at her smaller friend, with the two making their way to a secluded bench. They sat in silence for a few moments, with Ninian patiently waiting for Chiki to reveal whatever was troubling her.

"How…how do you deal with jealousy?" She finally asked, looking down towards the ground while she hugged the lantern close to her chest.

Ninian blinked, caught slightly off-guard by the little dragon's question. "Jealousy?"

Chiki nodded, opting to expand on her question and thoughts. "I…I can't help but feel jealousy at things I know I shouldn't feel jealousy about. But…But I can't help it! Even though my head knows it should be fine, my heart…my heart tightens up, and it makes me feel guilty…"

Ninian gaze turned sympathetic at Chiki's words, hearing her voice turn a bit frantic and emotional near the end. She wanted to help the girl, so she decided to be honest with her experiences and attempt to turn them into helpful advice. She looked back forward, ready to say the words she had prepared.

"You know, I think that jealousy can be proof that you care, especially if it's towards someone." She replied, prompting her friend to turn and look at her as the dancer continued. "I remember back in my world, my brother and I used to spend so much time together. We pretty much just had each other, still, we were happy together."

"However, when we finally joined Lord Eliwood's army and became closer with other people, we started to spend less and less time with one another. That was a good thing, of course, since we made friends and got to know other people, growing and becoming more independent. But whenever we saw the other having a good time with people other than ourselves, we both were happy, yet we also couldn't help but feel a bit left out."

Chiki found herself focused on Ninian's story, looking intently at the way the woman seemed to reminisce about her past. The soft, small smile on her face was filled with both warmth and sorrow as she remembered her conflicted emotions from those times.

"Neither of us knew how to react, how to deal with it, because it was really the first time we both experienced such an emotion. Though eventually...eventually we talked, we realized we were both being a bit silly. Cause it didn't matter who else we spent our time with, in the end, we were both siblings who loved each other, and nothing would change that."

Ninian turned to look back at Chiki, finding the girl staring back at her with some amazement as she took her story to heart.

It took the Dragon Scion a few moments to finally respond to the Dragon dancer, when she did, it was an unsure question.

"So…so do you think if I'm honest about my feelings, they understand and think I'm being silly?"

Ninian nodded, "If they care about you, I'm sure they will." She told her without hesitation.

Chiki took another moment and two to think on it, and then suddenly a look of determination came onto her face.

"Then I'm gonna do just that!" She declared, hopping off the bench as she clenched the lantern she was holding tightly. But before she could start, she took a moment to turn and hug Ninian, surprising the dancer briefly before she returned the embrace.

"Thank's Nin-Nin~" She told her cheerfully and gratefully, using the nickname she occasionally called her by and sounding far better than when the ice-dragon first found her. And with that she ran off to find her mate, waving goodbye to Ninian as she waved back.

The blue-haired woman couldn't help a brief sigh, cheeks slightly blushing as she recalled the story she told to Chiki. Specifically about leaving out some parts, such as what happened after she and Nil's made up.

Her thighs shifted slighting in her dress as she recalled the foggy memory that slightly melted her core.

"Where's Chiki?"

The question repeated in Kana's head as he explored the festival, desperately attempting to find his mate and becoming more and more anxious by the second. Nowi's answer to that question didn't help as she revealed Chiki just suddenly took off without much explanation, confirming to Kana that something was wrong.

He didn't even notice the forlorn look Myrrh gave before Nowi comforted her.

For now, he was focused on attempting to track Chiki's scent, and it wasn't as easy as he liked. Even with his enhanced senses, the current festival made picking up her trail harder than he anticipated. The smell of distinct treats was just one of many distractions that hinder his progress.

At the very least, he believed he was heading in the right direction, and when the scent became more recognizable, he didn't hesitate to rush toward it. Even though it smelled a bit more mature.

Kana was ready to smile just as he rounded a corner, expecting to see Chiki there. Except he didn't find her, well, not the version he was looking for at least.

"Kana?"

Tiki raised a brow at her pupil's sudden appearance. He looked a bit frantic, as though he had been frantically searching for something or someone.

"Is something the matter?" She asked, concerned.

The Dragon Spawn's eyes widened briefly, unsure of how to respond. He wanted to be truthful, he knew he should be truthful, and so he was truthful.

"I was looking for Chiki, and I can't seem to find her." He told her with a sigh, showcasing his worry and some anxiety as his head hung slightly low.

His mentor gave him a sympathetic look, reaching a hand out to place a reassuring grip on his shoulder. "Well, you're not the only one having some difficulties tonight, it seems." She told him while looking to her side.

Her words confused Kana and raised some curiosity, prompting him to pick his head up and look towards where she did. There he saw Rhea, who didn't seem to notice his presence, looking off into the crowds with what appeared to be a curious, analytical gaze.

He followed her gaze and found it landing on a small girl around his size. She had dark green hair, with what appeared to be a witch-themed outfit considering her large black hat with multiple stripes of orange patterning it along with candy wrapping around the top from a chain while the under brim was colored purple.

Her dress itself was black, striped orange down her torso before ending around her thighs with a somewhat puffy skirt. Yet that wasn't the only skirt she had as another large orange skirt was also wrapped around her, opened up at the front and exposing the purple fabric underneath.

She had some other accessories such as candy dotting her skirt along with a few bows, with a large one wrapping around her waist and skirts. There was even a large orange ribbon that was attached to her wrist before trailing off. Though what was most curious about her was how she was floating, and she wasn't even using the broom she was holding to do it.

"Hey! How many times must I make it clear! The candy I'm wearing isn't for eating!"

The green-haired girl scolded the crowd of children that surrounded her, clearly seeming agitated by some of their repeated attempts to snatch her decorative treats.

"She's been like that ever since we spotted her." Tiki explained, with Kana giving a nod. For some reason, his worries about Chiki were briefly forgotten as he opted to focus on the apparent problem in front of him, feeling as though he should - and could - do something.

"Do you know her?"

"Huh?"

Rhea gave a small yet surprised gasp as she turned to look towards Kana as he walked up beside her.

It only took her a moment to compose herself though before giving a small sigh. "Honestly, I don't know." She revealed, confusing Kana slightly before she elaborated. "Still, I can't help but feel drawn to her. It's like she's familiar to me, and for the life of me I can't figure out why."

She returned her gaze towards the floating girl as she attempted to get away from the crowd of children who instated on following her. She looked almost comical in doing so, yet Rhea found herself more and more curious about her.

"Well, why don't you go and talk to her?" Kana suddenly suggested rather plainly.

It was a straightforward solution, of course. One that Rhea had thought of yet found surprisingly difficult to perform. Yet Kana's suggestion made her give a small, surprised, "Hmm? ", Only to then gasp and widen her eyes when she saw the young dragon-boy start to make her way towards the floating girl.

"Stop following me!"

The floating green-haired witch's warning was met with laughter and giggles by the children as they continued to chase her. Despite picking up speed and trying to weave through the stands, she could hear them still behind her. And after glancing back to confirm that she was losing them, she let out a sigh of relief when it seemed true. Though her relief was short-lived as she had to to suddenly stop when looking back forward, preventing herself from hitting the boy who was in her way.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!"

Kana winced at her scolding and annoyed tone. Even though they seemed to be the same height, her ability to float had it so that she was looking down at him. Her look of annoyance soon transformed into one of mild curiosity.

"Wait a moment, you seem familiar~" She stated before narrowing her eyes towards him for a more analytical look, cupping her chin as she then said, "Ah, yes~ You're another Hero, correct? One of the manaketes?"

Kana nodded, "Yeah, my name's Kana."

The floating girl in front of him gave a small hum at his greeting, "You may call me… Hmmm~ So-...phie... Yes! Sophie!" She exclaimed a bit, Kana raising a brow in mild confusion before she continued, regaining her previous scolding tone as she placed a hand on her hip. "Now then, Kana , Is there something you need of me?"

The Dragon Spawn nodded, "Yeah, I have a friend I'd like to introduce you to, if you don't mind." He asked 'Sophie' politely and hopefully.

Unfortunately, she didn't respond with an immediate ' yes' . Giving a "Hmmm~ " and placing a finger on her chin, she seemed to take a few moments to think about it.

"While I don't want to seem rude. I'm a bit more interested in participating in the festival, specifically gathering more of those tasty treats! And after having to deal with those kids, I'm afraid I lost quite a bit of valuable time to secure some." She explained, seeming to politely decline Kana's request.

Something that made the manakete feel a bit bad, only to then quickly recall something that could help her accept and still fulfill her needs.

"What if I gave you some of my candy?" He suggested, catching her attention, with her raising her brow curiously as Kana went through his pockets. Pulling out a variety of treats, he showcased some leftovers from what Myrrh had given him along with other snacks he'd picked up along the way.

"Hmmm~"

'Sophie' inspected the treats carefully, attempting to decide if it was worth it in exchange for this young boy's request.

Kana started to get a bit worried she'd decline, luckily, her next words dispelled that.

"Very well~ Take me to them," 'Sophie' asked as she took the treats and stashed them in a small compartment in her hat.

Kana's smile widened in excitement, doing as she told with more energy than she had expected. She was surprised when he took her hand and dragged her through the street. She wanted to object to being led like some child, yet she stayed her tongue. She wasn't being led like some child, she was being led by a child.

A child 'Sophie' couldn't help but find herself curious.

Kana, for his part, barely noticed her curious gaze directed towards him, instead, keeping forward as he made his way back to Tiki and Rhea. The former looked to have a grin on her face while the latter looked slightly mortified and embarrassed by Kana's actions.

"Sophie, this is Rhea! Rhea, Sophie." He introduced the two while letting go of the smaller girl's hands.

Said girl merely crossed her arms, giving the taller woman in front of her a once over before speaking.

"I see you've chosen to dress as a witch, though with a much more elegant style I must say."

Rhea's eyes widened briefly at her words, only for her lips to curl into a small, soft smile as she accepted and returned the compliment. "Thank you, and I must say that your outfit is quite magnificent as well. It's so bright and colorful, I can see why all those kids were drawn to it."

'Sophie' rolled her eyes, "Oh don't remind me. Kids are so troublesome to handle. I don't want to make them sad or cry. Still, there's only so much I can properly deal with!"

Rhea giggled at the frustration 'Sophie' exuded. "Well, if you're interested, I have some experience dealing with children at the monastery I run. I can offer you some advice if you're willing~"

Kana smiled at how the two were starting to easily make conversation, glad he was able to help bring them together. Only to then feel a small tap on his shoulder which made him glance back and find Tiki standing behind him. She silently gestured to him to follow her and move a bit away from the two green-haired witches to give them some privacy.

"That was really nice of you, Kana."

Kana couldn't resist giving a bashful chuckle at her praise. "It didn't take that much effort on my part." He tried to downplay.

However Tiki wouldn't let him do so easily. "Even still, you went out of your way to do it despite having been focused on something else. Speaking of, did something happen between you and Chiki?"

Kana's mood shifted along with Tiki's voice as he took on a more somber look, head hanging slightly low before responding, "I don't know…I can't help but feel like something's been a bit off with her, yet she disappeared before I could have a chance to talk to her!"

Tiki's gaze turned sympathetic at the frustration and concern in Kana's voice. So she decided to help him calm down and focus, and an easy way to do that was to keep him focused on facts.

"Alright then, how about you tell me what happened so far?" She asked calmly.

Her pupil took a few moments to compose himself, recalling memories of the night before taking a deep breath before speaking.

"Well, she seemed rather happy at first. We met up at the stairs with Myrrh and Nowi joining us before we all headed down into the festival. She was excited and in high spirits when we first explored around. We even played a target game where I won her a prize, and she was so excited by it she gave me a kiss right then and there! But then later when we were all sitting down and eating some treats, she didn't want to share with me. She kept saying she was fine but…"

Tiki nodded, listening carefully and giving Kana her full attention as he talked on. Carefully, she interjected by asking, "Did anything else of note happen? Like with the other girls perhaps?"

Kana thought on her question for a bit, making Tiki believe that perhaps her suspicions had some weight. Further exemplified by what Kana answered.

"Nowi played a few tricks on me, but she did that to all of us! Myrrh…I helped her with the target game after Nowi and Chiki suggested I do it when she seemed to be struggling." The silver-haired boy revealed.

"Was Chiki also struggling with the target game?"

Kana gave an unsure look. "I think so, when I looked at her she seemed a bit down with no prize. Which was part of the reason I got her the prize she seemed to be eyeing when we saw the booth…"

Tiki closed her eyes and gave a soft, quiet sigh at that piece of information. 'The little one must've felt a bit jealous that you helped Myrrh and not her. She is a bit more territorial than she realizes.' The divine dragon thought. Though before she could reveal that piece of information, Kana had more to share.

"We also went into some haunted attractions afterward, though we couldn't all go in together and had to split up. Nowi took Chiki in before I went with Myrrh. And by the time we got out on the other side, Chiki was gone! So I went looking for her and ended up finding you instead. You two smell so similar that it was hard to notice the difference with all the other scents at the festival."

Tiki gave him another sympathetic gaze, gently combing his hair as she tried to think of what to say next. 'If I had to guess, the little one must feel a bit jealous. Yet I'm still a bit unsure of the other two's actions. Could it be that-?'

"So you weren't able to help her with the game, and when there was a chance for the two of you to be alone, you were separated? And in both those instances instead of focusing on her, you focused on another girl?" She asked.

Kana looked up at her, nodding though also holding a confused look. "Yeah, I guess. For the game, Nowi and Chiki both wanted me to help Myrrh so I don't see a problem with that. And during the haunted tent thing, sure it was a bit annoying Nowi didn't give us a chance to be together before she took Chiki, but it wasn't like I chose to ignore her. And going in with Myrrh was kinda nice, we talked a bit."

Tiki responded with silence, making Kana blink at her with more confusion. Was he missing something? He thought back on his words, on her words, and tried to figure that out.

"...She's not jealous, is she?" He asked aloud, unsure of that statement.

"Perhaps, I'm unsure of it myself." Tiki replied, lying about her own conclusion as she wanted to let Kana figure out a bit for himself.

And he was even more confused. "But…but why would she be jealous of me helping or going to the attraction with Myrrh? She wanted me to help Myrrh at first! And I didn't have a say in the attraction? "

He didn't understand, and it made Tiki pity him as she tried to elaborate.

"A girl's heart can be a fickle thing, Kana. It's hard to control emotions, sometimes they don't make much sense. Even so, that doesn't make them any less real. I don't believe you made any mistakes, yet perhaps our young Chiki found herself feeling conflicted from what she saw?"

Kana looked at his teacher intently, his face of confusion settling into something more worried as he took her words to heart. If they were true, then they'd most likely help when he eventually found and talked with Chiki. Whenever he did find her.

"Kana!"

Or she'd find him.

Teacher and Student were surprised by the sudden voice that called out to one of them. They turned their heads toward the source, finding none other than the topic of their conversation running towards them.

"Chiki!?" Kana exclaimed as his mate stopped right in front of them. He wanted to hug her in relief, yet hesitated. With that hesitation giving her the chance to do it instead.

"I'm so sorry for running off!" She exclaimed, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her head against his shoulder.

Kana took a moment to take in her embrace before returning it by wrapping his arms around her waist. He could feel the lantern he had gifted her brushing against his back, yet focused on her instead as he sensed she was a bit shaken.

"It's alright. I'm sorry for not noticing you were feeling troubled and doing something about it earlier" He tried to comfort her, not wanting her to worry about anything and trying to take some blame himself.

Chiki shook her head. "No, no it's not! I shouldn't have run away and instead been honest, but I wasn't. So I'm sorry."

Kana's gaze turned sympathetic and the firm tone in her voice. She wasn't going to budge on that stance no matter how much he tried, no matter how insistent he'd try to be about it being ok when she believed it wasn't.

And so he could only try and respect her feelings with his reply. Pulling back, he looked her in the eye, giving her both a firm though caring look as he said, "Then…then let's talk, ok?"

She nodded in agreement, unwrapping her arms from around his neck before taking one of his hands to bring him towards somewhere more private. Yet just when they took a few steps, they were interrupted by a person they had seemed to have forgotten about.

"You know, a goodbye would at least be polite. Not to mention a hello, Little One~"

Kana and Chiki both winced at Tiki's voice, embarrassment and guilt washing over them as they both realized just how ignorant of her presence they had accidentally been.

"I'm so sorry Big-Sis Ti-Ti! I was focused on Kana and wanted to make things up that I had completely neglected you! Forgive me!" Chiki's tone matched her apologetic face, attempting to make up for her mistakes when she turned back toward her older self.

"I'm sorry as well," Kana joined in, not saying as much as his mate but still showcasing regret in his tone and face.

Tiki gave them both firm looks, arms crossed under her bust before she sighed and took on a more gentle look and tone. "It's fine you two. You both sound like you've got more pressing matters to focus on. Just take care to not ignore your surroundings too much, ok?"

The two younger manaketes nodded dutifully before turning around and ready to head off once more. Though before they could start their steps, Chiki looked back and said, "Oh! By the way Big-Sis Ti-Ti, you look really spooky~ In a good way!"

Tiki chuckled at her younger self's complement. "And to you as well, Little One." She said before shifting her tone and looking into something a bit more teasing and saying, "Oh, and one last bit of advice for the two of you. When you make up, try and make sure you're somewhere private and safe before letting your emotions get the better of you? I don't think I need to explain why?"

The two mates gained prominent blushes at her warning, looking quite embarrassed as their heads hung low, specifically because they knew she had a point. And so they nodded dutifully, with much less eagerness than before as they headed off to somewhere more private and secluded for their talk.

Tiki smiled softly at the two as she saw them head off, hopeful they didn't run into anyone like their mothers on the way. Those two still seemed blissfully ignorant to the fact their children's relationship wasn't as pure as they would've thought. Well, she was certain Corrin was still under that impression, her own mother though…

Part of her wanted to join them and make sure they both were able to properly convey their feelings, however she opted to trust that they both could handle it. She couldn't be there for them all the time, after all, they'd have to learn to get through these things on their own more and more. Though of course, she was always willing to lend a helping ear when they needed it, more when their desires were shared.

Her grin turned hungry as she decided on her lesson plan for Kana later that week.

Kana allowed Chiki to lead him through the festival grounds, finding themselves getting closer and closer to its edges with fewer people around them. Eventually they reached an area where there was no one else and just as he was about to ask how much further she was gonna take him, Chiki took a sharp turn and pulled him into a secluded shed.

"Oof!"

Kana lightly gasped when Chiki suddenly gave him a tight hug, catching him a bit off-guard. Though he soon returned the hug, the two said nothing as they enjoyed the other's presence. They may have had some misunderstandings today that they still needed to talk about, but one thing was clear, they cared for each other, and nothing would change that.

"I'm sorry if I made you feel jealous today," Kana told her after a while, hugging her tighter as he needed to get that off his chest, even if she would disagree.

To which of course she did.

Shaking her head against his chest, Chiki hugged him tighter as well as she gave her response. "It's fine. I mean, I did feel jealous today about how well you got along with Myrrh. But that was just me being selfish. I know how you feel about me, it's just…seeing you two together, it made me…conflicted."

Kana pulled away from Chiki, substituting their deep embrace with their hands as he took one of her's within his. Looking at his mate with a firm, determined gaze, he stated his feelings as true as he could.

"Tiki, whatever happens, I'll always love you."

The green-haired manakete looked at him with slightly wide eyes and blush at his declaration, especially with the use of her given name. Unable to stop herself from looking away bashfully for a few moments to recompose herself, she soon enough reached in to give him a grateful peck on the lips before resting her face against his neck.

"I know that. I know you'll always love me. But… But that doesn't mean your love just has to stop at me. Big-Sis Ti-Ti also deserves your love, and…and I think other people deserve it too."

"Huh?"

Kana was confused by Chiki's words. Other people deserve his love? What did she mean by that? And as if sensing his confusion, Chiki elaborated slightly.

"I want to explain, but I can't, not by myself at least. Just know that I don't care who else you love, or how many. Just so long as you still love me, no matter how jealous I may get, if you can still spend time with me, I think that'll be enough."

"Tiki…" Kana was confused by her words, they didn't make much sense to him. "What do you mean?"

"I think we can help her explain that."

Kana and Chiki both turned towards the shed's entrance to find none other than Nowi and Myrrh standing there. Both girls seemed to hold slightly apologetic gazes, with Myrrh not even able to look at the duo.

"What's going on?" Kana asked them all, feeling that there was something important being kept from him and confused as to what and why that was.

Nowi seemed ready to answer the question, however before she could Myrrh stepped in, finally looking at Kana with a deeply apologetic look that was reflected in her tone.

"It's all my fault! Everything is because of me! I'm so sorry!"

Kana was taken aback by Myrrh's sudden outburst, just as everyone else seemed to be. Though before he could even think about responding to her, Nowi was already acting.

"Whoa there, girl. Don't try to pin all the blame on yourself." The youthful manakete tried to console as she gripped her friend's hand, shooting her fellow green-haired manakete a knowing look as she then said, "We all have something to feel guilty about and tell Kana, right Chiki?"

Said manakete nodded in agreement, giving Kana's hand another squeeze before letting go and walking towards the other girls. She stood beside Myrrh, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

Kana was even more confused than before, along with feeling quite a bit anxiety. What was going on, what was this thing they all needed to tell him? Why did Myrrh take all the blame? He wanted to ask these questions and wanted his confusion to be known. However he stayed his tongue and kept quiet, feeling as though it'd be best to give them the time to answer when they were ready.

"You can go first," Nowi told Myrrh, giving her an encouraging hand-squeeze which Chiki replicated on her shoulder along with a hum. As such Kana turned his attention towards her as the purple-haired manakete took a deep breath while composing her thoughts before revealing them to Kana.

"I asked Chiki and Nowi to help me spend time with you during the festival," She revealed with a somewhat low and almost embarrassed tone, gaze also low as she seemed unable to look Kana in the eyes.

Her words confused the Dragon Spawn slightly. She wanted to spend time with him? Why didn't she just ask? And why did she need help from the other two to do so?

He glanced at Nowi and Chiki with a questioning look, with the former expanding on the convo. "It was mostly my idea. Myrrh came to me about her troubles, and I was the one who went to ask Chiki for help as well. Most of the ideas and scenarios which had you two spending time together, that was mostly by my planning."

Once again Kana was confused by their words. He understood what they were, but he didn't understand the reasoning behind them, the why. And so glancing at Chiki, he saw his mate give a nod to confirm her involvement.

"Why?"

That was all he could ask, all he could express. He was still confused by their actions, what would drive them all to do this?

And so Myrrh finally revealed it after taking a deep breath.

"Because…Because I have feelings for you…"

It took Kana a moment to process those words, yet once he did, his eyes widened immediately. He understood them, yet he needed a little more time to have it settled in. And through it all, he was stunned.

"Feelings…for me?"

Myrrh nodded, once again having trouble looking him in the eyes, reflected in the slightly shaky yet firm tone in her voice as she said, "I…I don't know when I started to get them. All I know is that… is that you were really kind to me. You were always willing to hang out with me, have fun with me, and talk with me. And…and I know a lot of people did that here, but with you, with you, I felt like you looked at me differently than other people normally do. Even if people know how old I really am, they still treat me a bit carefully or like I'm less mature than they are. But you…you always seemed to know how mature I was, still, you didn't let it stand in the way of getting to know me. I felt like… like an equal with you, and eventually, I thought you were a special person in my heart. I just didn't know how special."

Kana couldn't help the blush that came onto his face from her explanation, hearing her reasoning, and how much his actions meant to her. It made him feel a bit nervous and guilty that he didn't realize it himself, further confounded by what she revealed next.

"Then…then you and Chiki started going out. I was…I was surprised, but I was happy. You two were close friends, and you both seemed happy together. Yet whenever I saw you two being so close… I couldn't… I couldn't help but feel a small ache in my heart… I was jealous, and I didn't know why."

Myrrh's voice trailed off at the end, making Kana feel sympathy towards the girl along with conflict, wondering what he could've done to help. Though Myrrh seemed hesitant to speak more, Nowi was ready to take the stage.

"She came to me for advice, and I realized that Myrrh had fallen for you before she realized. At first, I didn't know what to do, I wanted to help her. But all that seemed possible without hurting you and Chiki was having Myrrh get over her feelings. At least, that's what I thought until I realized something… That you may be open to having more than one mate…."

Kana's eyes widened once again in shock at Nowi's words. Why would she think that? It was so shocking he glanced at Chiki for some sort of help. And his mate noticed his gaze and decided to explain part of Nowi's reasoning to him.

"Nowi…she figured it out. About us and Big-Sis Ti-Ti…" The Dragon Scion revealed, once again surprising Kana as the secret he thought the three of them were guarding well enough apparently had been figured out.

Nowi couldn't resist chuckling at his surprise, bringing a lighthearted tone as she decided to tease the two a bit. "You guys made a good effort. But~ well, I realized some things seemed off, and since I hung out with you three quite a bit, I noticed the odd scents enough times to draw some conclusions. Conclusions that were certified when I went to Chiki for confirmation… And also to ask for her help and permission with Myrrh."

Said manakete let out a small sigh as she once again had to speak again, finally focusing on her part to play in this little scheme that involved her mate. "I was…surprised when they first came to me, embarrassed as well. But when they told me about Myrrh's feelings…I was sad and conflicted. She really does care for you, Kana. And I couldn't help but feel bad that she didn't get a chance to let you know because I…because I took you first."

Kana felt a surge of protection come over him at Chiki's remarks, not liking the way she was seemingly finding fault in her actions when she shouldn't have to. However before he could tell her that, Myrrh acted first.

"That's not fair!"

The group was surprised by Myrrh's sudden outburst as she turned towards Chiki, grabbing one of her hands as she looked her dead in the eyes.

"The only person who's to blame here is me! It's not your fault I didn't realize my feelings before you did! And you shouldn't feel bad for my mistakes! Besides, look how happy Kana is with you! I…I don't think he'd feel as happy with me…"

Myrrh's determined voice trailed off towards the end at her own self-deprecation as she also looked away towards the ground with a solemn gaze. Everyone was prompted to look at her with a solemn gaze, though it was Chiki who acted.

"That doesn't mean I still don't want to help," Chiki reassured her friend, gripping her hand and forcing her to look at her while she gave a gentle smile. "I…I know what it's like wanting to tell someone how you feel, how you want to be happy, and how it feels to be with them. Even if Big-Sis Ti-Ti doesn't say it all the time, I think she's really happy being involved with us. And I don't think it's fair to keep that happiness all to ourselves, not when we can do something."

"Yeah, but even if you felt that, we didn't realize just how hard it was for you to share that happiness. We were so focused on Myrrh that we didn't take into account your feelings, Chiki." Nowi interjected, not wanting to ignore that toll they accidentally forced on her with their selfish request, Myrrh nodded in agreement.

However, Chiki merely shook hers. "That was because I didn't say anything. Besides, I've dealt with that now…or at least most of it. At the very least, I know that I shouldn't keep these things to myself, and so I know we should all be honest about what we want."

With that, the divine manakete turned her head back towards her mate, catching his attention as she said, "So Kana, what do you think about all this?"

The silver-haired prince was caught off-guard, mostly because he was still processing all this and the fact he had been slightly ignored for a bit. In any case, he took a step back when all the other girls turned to face him, all with varying degrees of concern and expecting looks.

He had to take a few moments to compose himself, and he was honest. "I don't know… This is all…it's so sudden..."

He couldn't look at them as he said them, feeling as though his answer wasn't good enough for what they were asking. At the very least, he didn't feel good about the answer to Myrrh. She confessed to him, and he didn't have the courage to give her a straight answer, even if part of him wanted to.

Even so, he couldn't stop himself from glancing at said manakete, and his heart dropped along with her gaze.

"That's…that's ok. I put this on you suddenly, so you don't have to answer…" Myrrh's voice was low, filled with some guilt as she still felt a bit of blame for the misunderstandings that had occurred tonight. Still, there was a bit of solemn warmth as she added, "Even if you don't feel the same, I'm just glad I finally got to tell you…"

"I do feel the same!"

Kana's outburst took the girls aback, especially Myrrh as they all looked at him with wide eyes. Myrrh herself became captivated as the manakete prince let his heart talk instead of his mind.

"I've always enjoyed being around you! At first, you always seemed so much more mature than me that I wasn't sure how to talk to you, but I knew I wanted to try! I liked getting to know you and how kind and smart you could be! And I was really happy when you seemed to enjoy talking to me as well! Plus whenever you smiled you looked amazing! I just think you're amazing!"

Myrrh's cheeks brightened by the second as Kana continued on. Chiki also gained a small blush, with Nowi having gotten over her shock, mostly just seeming amused by Kana's actions. It was only halfway through that the young manakete seemed to realize what he was saying, embarrassment clear on his face that was present in a stutter.

"I-I…I…" The words from his heart that spoke so passionately were now replaced with those from the mind. And his mind was still confused, with the embarrassment he felt from his unplanned confession not helping. Eventually, though, he took a few moments to calm himself, looking down as he said, "I just... I just don't know where to start with all this."

He said nothing after that, with Myrrh and Chiki also unable to respond with anything. It was all just a lot to take in, overwhelming even. It was a bit of a mess that even if some things were clear and certain, it was hard to deal with everything else.

Which was why Nowi opted to propose a solution.

"Why not just let your feelings guide you then?"

Nowi's voice was quite calm and plain, a stark contrast to everyone else's tone as she spoke her suggestion off the side. Her face matched her tone as she barely flinched at everyone else turning to look at her with slightly confused looks. Prompting her to further explain her suggestion.

"You guys don't know where to start? That's cause you're thinking with your head! So don't use them! Use your hearts and let your emotions and instincts tell you what to do! This is about love, right? Well, what your heart tells you to do is far more important than anything your mind says!"

The three other manaketes continued to give her stunned and confused looks, frustrating the dress-up witch. "Oh come on!" She exclaimed, walking forward and taking Myrrh's hand, prompting a small squeal from the girl as she pulled her towards Kana.

"There!"

Nowi held a smile, contrasting the nervous looks Kana and Myrrh had as they were now face-to-face, both blushing as they were unsure of what to do. Their youthful and energetic witch, meanwhile, placed her hands on both their shoulders and said, "Just listen to your hearts. To each other's hearts. I'm sure it'll work out~"

And with that she took a few steps back to Chiki, both looking at the Prince and Great dragons as they both were silent. They tried to look at each other but found themselves glancing away quite a few times. Yet even if they wanted to try out Nowi's advice, their hearts were beating so fast it was hard to listen to them.

However when Kana glanced back towards Myrrh, he noticed that the girl wasn't looking at him, nor was she looking away. She was halfway in between each, wanting to gaze at him, yet finding herself unable to commit. And somehow, at that moment, he found himself able to keep looking forward, his heart starting to slow down - slightly, at least - and he was able to act.

Myrrh didn't notice Kana's face leaning closer towards her till they were inches apart. The sudden revelation caused her to give a small gasp and gain wide eyes. Yet she didn't pull away, and he didn't stop.

"Mhmm~"

Myrrh couldn't help the muffled sigh of relief she let out when Kana's lips pressed against hers. His silver eyes were shut in concentration while her crimson ones briefly widened before closing shut. Her body relaxed and her heartbeat slowed down, yet she didn't return the kiss, instead just melting into it.

It didn't last for long - less than half a minute - yet it was enough for Myrrh to look flushed when Kana pulled away, both sporting bright blushes. They stared into each other's eyes for another few moments, taking in what had occurred. And eventually, Kana realized what he had done, eyes widening as a brief sensation of panic came over him.

"So-sorry! I just… I didn't realize I-..." He was stuttering, unsure of his apology for his actions. He had done what Nowi suggested, listening to his heart. Yet it was hard to ignore his mind at this moment when Myrrh continued to look at him stunned, with no smile to showcase her enjoyment of the kiss as she still seemed unsure of the whole thing.

As such, Kana believed he may have acted a bit too hastily and had done something she was uncomfortable with, or at the very least, uncertain of. "I should've asked, you must've felt uncomfortable and didn't enjoy it! I just- MHMMM! ?"

Now it was Kana's turn to be caught off-guard and surprised. His eyes widened while Myrrh's were clenched shut in concentration, their roles now reversed as she was the one who slammed her lips against him, and much more passionately as well one might add. There was enough force behind her actions to make Kana stumble back a step or two while she latched on.

Her arms wrapped around his neck as she pushed herself against him. Her kiss seemed rather hungry as she practically sucked on his lips, showcasing quite the contrast between the two as he was slightly overwhelmed. Though eventually, the Dragon Spawn found himself returning the kiss.

His eyes dropped shut, his arms wrapped around her waist to pull her closer, lips matching and pushing back against her own as the two started to moan into their kiss. A kiss that seemed to turn heavier and heavier by the second.

"Oh my~"

Nowi had a light blush on her cheeks as she and Chiki watched the exchange with slightly stunned looks. The two had wide eyes, with Chiki holding both hands to her mouth, covering her lower face and the extreme blush on her cheeks at the sight of her mate passionately making out with her friend.

It was clear Myrrh was letting her instincts get the better of her. Pushing herself harder and harder against Kana. She rubbed herself needily against him while opening up her mouth to let their tongues brush against one another. The moans they let out showcased their enjoyment, cheeks blushing while their hands wandered a bit.

One of Myrrh's hands went up into Kana's hair, fingers digging and passing through the silver locks. Her other hand moved down towards his chest, gripping the fabric as she let out a small, muffled growl of annoyance at how it covered his bare chest, seemingly debating ripping the fabric.

However any thoughts were lost as a sudden moan was let out, her hand now gripping his chest for support as Kana's hands moved up towards her wings. There were a bit too many layers and fabric on the rest of her body, so he decided to focus on something more exposed, softly kneading and gripping the yellow appendages in ways that made their owner's legs tremble and lose strength.

It was enough for her to pull her lips away from his own with a gasp from them each as they both took in a much-needed gulp of air while a trail of spit bridged their mouths. Faces flushed - her's more so - but she soon enough let out another moan from the squeeze he gave her wing, burying her face into his shoulder and holding onto him for support.

It was clear to the two spectators just how heavily she was breathing, she was practically panting as Kana continued to stroke and massage her wings. One hand was settled over her back, softly rubbing up and down to soothe her while his other hand explored and trailed over the edges of her wings gently.

Chiki knew how sensitive her wings could be under the right touch, even so, this was something else. It made her a little jealous as she fought to keep that feeling down. Still, it was hard not to feel a little left out with how into it the two seemed to be. Then again, she supposed it wasn't much different from the times she saw Kana and her older self go at it.

Though there was usually a different dynamic with those two, and with Kana and Myrrh, Chiki werewonder if she was looking into a mirror at how she and Kana would get at times.

"Ok~ I think that's enough!"

Nowi's firm and somewhat booming voice snapped Chiki from her thoughts along with Kana and Myrrh. The three turned to look at her slightly embarrassed as they tried to recompose themselves, Kana and Myrrh more so as they just realized what they did in front of two spectators.

A grin spread out on Nowi's face at their reaction, deciding to have a little fun with her words as she spoke. "Alright, I know I said follow your hearts, but I think your hearts need to calm down a bit. I expected a cute kiss, not a hot and heavy make-out session! Right, Chiki?"

The girl perked up at the call of her name, having not expected to be called out. "Oh! Umm…" She stuttered in her response, unsure of what to say. A bright blush was still evident on her face as she was unable to look them all in the eyes, Kana the most.

It made the young prince feel a bit guilty and urged him to try and make up for that. He turned towards Myrrh, giving her an apologetic gaze. She merely shook her head, already understanding his meaning and reasoning. A silent conversation and understanding reached between them as he moved away, instead of walking towards his mate with a firm goal.

Chiki didn't notice his approach until he was very close, her eyes widening a bit and cheeks blushing. "K-... Kan-Kan?" She stuttered out in response, only to give a muffled gasp and widened her eyes as Kana pulled her into a passionate kiss. Her hands immediately went to grip his shoulders, caught off-guard by this sudden lip-locke, and yet she could hardly hope to resist it, not when his tongue slipped in and his hands started to roam over her curves.

"Mhmmm~"

Her eyes fluttered shut while she moaned into the kiss, quickly returning it with vigor as she eagerly dueled his tongue with her own, swapping spit while she encouraged his hands to pinch and cup her body. The thinner material of her dress allowed for him to make better use of his hands, cupping her waist or hips for example. And yet he was also intent to use some of the same skills he had on Myrrh.

"Ohh~"

Chiki gave a muffled gasp into the kiss as Kana started to stroke her wings, her legs trembling as well as she experienced a reaction similar to Myrrh. But unlike the girl, she didn't pull away from the kiss, in fact, she leaned further into it.

A/N: So...that was something huh?

Like I said at the start, this chapter almost broke me. It just got way longer than I ever anticipated. I enjoyed writting it, no doubt, but when it was finished, I needed a break. I've actually changed my writting process in part from this fic in some attempt to try and improve my quality and also keep myself in check. Its quite a bit more work than before, but I think its worth it.
