"The Return of Sarah Ravencroft"
I don't know if I'll have the next chapter up in time for Halloween. If not, happy Halloween everyone! I hope you have a fun time. Please enjoy and review!
When the green light faded, it revealed what Ben had done to the Digimon.
Everyone stared in shock, their eyes wide while Davey and Thorn were in disbelief over what the self-proclaimed warlock had done to their Digimon partners.
Where Veemon was once standing there was now a blue and white ragdoll kitten with scarlet red eyes in his place.
Impmon had been transformed into a purple and white Rottweiler puppy with green eyes and wore a red ascot.
"Veemon!" Davey gasped as she kneeled down to look over her partner.
The blue kitten mewed up at his partner, placing his tiny paws on her knees as she stared down at him with sad eyes.
"Oh, Impmon, is that you?" Thorn asked as she scooped up the puppy.
The purple puppy started yapping, looking very annoyed by what had been done to him.
Dusk and Luna gathered around their friend, trying to provide comfort as they stared down at the upset puppy.
"Zoinks! What'd he do to them?" Shaggy asked as he and Scooby gathered around Davey to get a proper look at Veemon.
Scooby whimpered sadly as Davey scooped Veemon into her arms, gently cuddling him against her chest.
"He must have turned them into animals so that they couldn't use their powers to fight him off." Velma theorized.
Staring down at the adorable fluffy kitten in her arms, Davey felt herself shake in rage.
She was going to rip Ben to shreds.
"I can't have anyone with power of the Light getting in my way. And DigiDestineds are useless without their Digimon." Ben sneered.
"You'll pay for this!" Thorn glared as she held Impmon close to her chest.
Turning his head, Impmon began to yap angrily at the warlock, promising retribution.
Scoffing in amusement at the wannabe witch, Ben then turned his attention over to Mayor Corey and Mr. McKnight who had been avoiding the conflict after the raven haired man had gotten his book.
Noticing that Ben was staring right at them, the two men turned and ran away screaming, fearful over what the warlock would do to them.
This amused Ben and he was quite eager to display his power once again.
"Leaving so soon?" He taunted.
Lifting his hand, Ben sent a blast of green energy at the fleeing men.
"The party's just beginning." Ben mocked.
The green energy lifted the two men from the ground and levitated them over to the stocks, locking their hands and heads inside of it.
"Let us out!" Mayor Corey cried.
"Daddy!" Thorn gasped.
She, Dusk and Luna all began rushing over to help the two men, Impmon yapping the whole way.
"Oh, how deeply moving!" Ben sneered.
He then sent a blast of energy at the three girls, sending them over to a pole where he used the yarn from one of the spindles to tie them up.
"Can I spin a yarn or what?" Ben joked.
"How could I have ever liked your novels? Now, guys! Grab the book!" Velma called.
Daphne and Fred boxed in Ben, the redhead grabbing him from behind while the blond captured him front of the front, trying to keep him still as they wrestled the spell book from his grasp.
"Gotcha!" Fred exclaimed.
Much to their surprise, Ben easily slipped out of their hold, knocking Fred to the ground while Daphne stumbled back.
"Where'd he go?" Daphne asked.
"I don't know." Velma said as she backed up to where her friends were.
Glancing around, the trio then heard mocking laughter.
Looking up, they found Ben perched on one of the puritan houses, the full moon illuminating his figure.
"This isn't one of your silly little mysteries. You can't solve me so easily." Ben mocked with an ugly sneer.
Waving his hand around, sparks began to appear and he tossed them at the ground, trapping the three friends in a ring of fire.
Daphne and Velma cowered against Fred's chest as they avoided the flames while Ben jumped down from the roof, admiring his work.
"You won't get away with this, Ben Ravencroft!" Velma declared.
"Why? Because of you meddling kids?" Ben mocked.
"Hey, we're not kids!" Fred exclaimed.
"But enough of this minor magic! I want to see how powerful I can really be! It's time to summon Sarah Ravencroft." Ben said.
Opening the book, he began to flip through the pages for the summoning spell that would free his ancestor.
"Dreadful darkness, hear my cry. Bring back one who cannot die." Ben began.
Before he could continue with his pomp, a fist planted itself on his jaw, knocking him to the ground.
Gasping in surprise, Daphne, Velma and Fred looked to see Davey stand in front of the downed warlock.
Sitting on her shoulder was the newly turned Veekitty who was hissing angrily, the fur on his back raised.
"That was for Veemon, you pompous, arrogant prat!" Davey hissed.
Then, she kicked her leg out, getting Ben in the chest, sending him flying into the house, the wood breaking from the force the werecat put behind it.
"And was for my friends!" Davey called.
Before she could continue her assault of the warlock, the Mystery Machine came hurtling towards them.
It skidded to a stop, sending up a cloud of dirt the put out the ring of fire.
Scooby opened the back doors of the van, smiling brightly at his friends.
Shaggy had come up with a plan to get the Mystery Machine so he could rescue the others and flee from the deranged warlock.
"Are we ever glad to see you!" Daphne grinned.
The group then jumped into the back of the van while Ben pushed his way onto his feet, furious at being interrupted and humiliated.
"Nice going, guys!" Fred complimented.
"Oh, we're going, all right. Away from Witchville." Shaggy retorted.
Yelling in anger, Ben sent a blast of light at the van, but it swerved in time, allowing the green energy to destroy a tree.
Clutching the book tightly, Ben gave chase.
In his fright and desperation, Shaggy was swerving all over, making everyone sway back and forth in the back of the Mystery Machine.
"We've gotta go back for the book!" Velma leaned forward and placed a hand on Shaggy's shoulder.
"Book?! Can't we just wait for the movie?" Shaggy asked.
"Shaggy, turn around! We need to get that book and turn the Digimon back to normal and find a spell to de-power Ravencroft. Then, we're sending that psycho to jail. After I test out my claws on him." Davey huffed.
Sighing at her cousin's anger, Daphne placed a hand on her back to comfort the werecat, but cried out when Shaggy made a sharp turn to avoid whatever was n his path.
Seeing a mountain of pumpkins in front of him, Shaggy drove into it, scattering the large squash.
They rolled around on the ground, heading towards Ben who stumbled and tripped over them, landing on his back and the book raised in the air.
Leaning down from out the window, Scooby snatched the book just as Shaggy drove passed the downed warlock.
"Ha-ha-ha! You're the man, Scoob!" Shaggy praised.
"Ruh huh!" Scooby nodded.
Exclaiming loudly in outrage, Ben climbed to his feet, glare set on his face.
"No!" He yelled.
Raising both hands, he sent a blast at one of the tires of the Mystery Machine, causing it to blow.
Everyone cried out as Shaggy tried to regain control of the van.
Shaggy ended up driving the van through a building, sending all of the merchandise inside flying around before it collapsed.
"Not the gift shop!" Mayor Corey exclaimed when he saw the destroyed building.
The front window of the Mystery Machine was now shattered due to the merchandise and debris slamming against it.
Ben once again sent a blast of green energy at the van, blowing out another tire, sending it careening into the large piles of hay, burying everyone in it.
"Yuck!" Shaggy spat the hay out.
Davey shook herself, annoyed at all of the hay that managed to get into the van.
The van was still swerving around, but Shaggy was doing his best to right it, fighting for control when he only had two working tires.
The Hex Girls, who were still tied up, watched as the Mystery Machine drove past them.
Impmon, who was tied up as well, was trying to use his teeth to chew through the yarn so he could free them.
"Like, I think I'm starting to get the hang of this." Shaggy said.
He was unaware of the fact that he was driving towards the stocks where Mr. McKnight and Mayor Corey were locked up.
The two men began yelling, trying to somehow break free from their bonds when Scooby took notice of them
Shaggy managed to swerve at the last second, managing to avoid running over to the two much to their relief.
Glancing behind him for a brief moment, to make sure he hadn't hit then men, Shaggy released a sigh of relief before screaming when he saw Ben standing in his path and tried to swerve away from the mad warlock.
He ended up crashing through the turkey pen, sending the frightened birds running as Ben sent another blast at the van, taking out yet another tire.
It seemed that the Mystery Machine had finally taken enough damage and swerved around in a full circle before sliding to a stop in front of the stocks.
"Well, at least we still have one tire." Shaggy said with a small smile that Scooby returned.
The van then collapsed, the head lights going out and the engine dying.
"Screw you, universe." Davey huffed.
Veekitty mewed in annoyed agreement while Shaggy and Scooby whimpered in disappointment.
Much to their fright, Ben landed in a crouch on the hood of the Mystery Machine.
"I'll take that!" Ben said gruffly.
Releasing a sound that was similar to an angry wildcat, Davey lunged forward, claws extended, attempting to slash the warlock with them.
He narrowly avoided her claws, jumping away just in time as safe distance away, the full moon shining down on him, providing the light he would need to read the spell.
"Now, where was I?" Ben asked.
The wind began to pick up again, swirling dust around Ben as he continued to read the spell as the Mystery gang climbed out of the gang, trying to rush out and stop him.
"Dreadful darkness, hear my cry. Bring back one who cannot die." Ben recited.
Green sparks began to crackle around the book and the energy lifted into the air above where the wind was swirling into what appeared to be a tornado.
"Let the witch who perished here live again and reappear!" Ben chanted.
Lightening then hit the ground n front of Mystery Inc. stopping their attempts to get the book.
The ground then began to break apart as a small tremor ran through it making everyone cry out as they tried to regain their footing.
Fred, Daphne and Velma were rocked back into one of the houses while Scooby and Shaggy fell against a broken wagon, their heads getting stuck in a wheel.
Davey crouched down, sinking her claws into the earth to steady her as Veekitty hid in her jacket so he wouldn't be blown away by the high winds.
Ben laughed loudly and manically as screeching echoed throughout the night as a ghostly figure began to appear.
A frightening spectre appeared in the mist before it began to swirl together in the wind, taking on the form of a ghostly woman.
She was tall and her cheeks were sunken in while her gray hair was messy as it blew in the breeze and her face were dead white while her hands were wrinkled with long jagged nails.
The woman was dressed in a white and lavender colored puritan dress while a matching headband held her wild hair back from her face.
Her eyes were black and her dark pink lips were curled up in a malicious smirk.
This was not the beautiful woman from the portrait at the Ravencroft home.
This was an otherworldly figure that radiated evil.
Sarah Ravencroft, the dark witch, had finally returned.
To be continued…
