Chapter 19 - Golden Age
The (New) Magic Council
Even with the destruction of the original council and several members leaving after the Etherion accident. The very one orchestrated by Ultear who was a traitor the whole time. A powerful one that made Jellal feel as if he were in control to the point he believed Zeref had spoken to him from beyond the grave. This left the council feeling embarrassed and members such as Yajima ended up leaving. However it would not be permanent as the Rune Knights were still around and being lead by officers such as Lahar.
Which proved that some members such as Gran Doma refused to let the council stay down forever. As he in particular did not want the legal guilds to run loose. Fairy Tail especially, even when they have achieved great deeds including the defeat of the Oracion Seis.
"…and without this alliance. The Balam Alliance would still be as strong as ever." Councilmen Org said.
Councilmen Michello scoffed, "An unauthorized alliance between several guilds is just a recipe for destruction. We were lucky they didn't create more trouble than what this battle was worth." he said. "Fairy Tail would jump in without a moments notice to do as they wish." he said as he had a great dislike for Makarov's guild.
So did Org, but at least he knew where to give credit where it was due. Especially as the council wasn't around and to this day, it's still trying to put itself back together. Councilwoman Belno could be described to be feeling the same way.
"Yet they had Jura Neekis with them, one of our Wizard Saints. As well as the Azure Knight who sent by the King's Advisors." Belno said hoping to prove a point.
Doma was not moved, "The latter is merely an upstart who impressed his majesty. He is merely power that is left without restraint." he said.
Like King Toma, Gran Doma also considered having Siegfried work under them. Mainly to keep tabs on him as the rumors of the Cursed Sword roaming within Ishgar and in Siegfried's possession. It only meant that the young man needed to be controlled.
"He's also too much like his mother, Mordred." Michello adds.
They also knew Mordred very well. While not as destructive as Fairy Tail when she was alive, the council saw Mordred as brat that needed to be restrained too.
"Especially with the execution of dark mages being far too high I might add." Michello said.
"And would you not consider voting for execution Michello? Some of these dark mages have committed heinous crimes." Org said.
Then Doma spoke up again, "This only adds reason for the boy to be restrained. Who is to say that he doesn't find enjoyment from murder?" he asked. "Regardless, there is nothing we can do due to his position. However, Fairy Tail is in our jurisdiction and we're giving it one last warning before we disband them permanently!" he exclaimed.
With Princess Hisui
Hisui stared at the Azure Knight with wide eyes. She was hoping to pay a surprise visit to her knight. Instead, it seemed that Siegfried Naruto had detected her instead. Hisui started to blush, realizing that Siegfried likely only improved his skills due to his refusal to stay at rest for so long. A knight is very loyal to their monarch but at the same time, they are willing to go through inhumane lengths to achieve their goals and/or orders.
"Sir Siegfried, what brings you here?" Hisui asked.
"I would ask you the same, but it would be rude of me not to answer." Siegfried said before giving Hisui an answer. "Then again, it is not too difficult to notice the royal chariot strolling around common parts such as these. Even within this downpour." he explains.
"I see, I am happy to hear that our local Dark Mage Slayer can track normal people as well." Hisui said with a giggle.
"Now then, are you here for business or pleasure?" Siegfried asked.
Hisui giggled nervously, "The pleasure of business I suppose." She said.
"That's a lame joke." Naruto said.
'Shut up! Also, why are you appearing less often?' Siegfried mentally asked.
"Meh, nothing interesting is happening." Naruto replies.
Siegfried sighed, "Then allow me to escort you to the finest inn. After Rusty here learns to fix a wheel." he said while looking at Arcadios.
Arcadios glared at him, "If you can, please assist us!" he said angrily.
"I lack the knowledge of vehicles." Siegfried replies, making Arcadios curse loudly. "Do not do that in front of the princess." he adds.
Arcadios grits his teeth, "I… ugh!" he complained as he struggled to fix the wheel.
Back at Fairy Tail
Erza winced as she sat on a bed in the infirmary room, "I swear, you are a real masochist girl. Challenging my grandson when you are far more injured than he is." Porlyusica says while tending to Erza's wounds.
"I may have been too eager." Erza admits.
To be fair, Erza found Knightwalker to be a very strong combatant. Almost matching her in strength with the Ten Commandments spear which contained various forms and abilities. Which resulted in the two fighting until both ran out of magic with the spear being destroyed. Erza would have won had she relied on the Sword of the Kusanagi as it's far more durable than most of Erza's arsenal and has the ability to transform into a snake. Making it's ability to strangle a target as well as inject them with venom, a lethal resource to keep around.
Fortunately for Knightwalker, Erza wanted to resolve things like adults. Thus sparing Knightwalker and turning her away from her psychotic rampages under Faust. Still, the two ended up crashing while on the floating island that was once the Kingdom of Extalia.
"Bah, you have always been headed Erza. Even with more maturity and skills as a leader, you are not the most composed of your team." Porlyusica said. "Still, I expected this behavior from our resident Dragon Slayer." she said adjusting some bandages around Erza's body.
Erza's visible eye had widened, 'To be put in the same category as Natsu in terms of behavior. How far have I fallen?' she mentally asked herself.
"Now rest up and do not think about going on dangerous missions or dimensional travel or whatever. This is why I hate humans, no regards for their own health." Porlyusica mutters as she leaves the infirmary.
Erza sighed as she lied down, "Maybe a bit of rest will help heal my headache." she said to herself.
When suddenly, Filo ran to her side, "Mama! Mama! Mama!" she cried out.
"Yes Filo?" Erza asked as she faced her adoptive daughter.
"Mama, did you and papa really get into a fight?" Filo asked with a worried expression.
Erza now felt nervous, "No Filo." she lied. "We were practicing. The fight was hard in Edolas so I wanted to practice. So your papa knocked some sense into me and told me to see the doctor." she continued to lie.
Filo then smiled, "Really? I knew papa would never hurt you mama!" she said happily.
Erza smiled as she reached out to Filo, "I'm going to be fine Filo. Mama just needs to rest and then I can go back to doing missions." She said. Filo nods as she understands, "Only, I think you might want to stay with Mira. Since I won't be able to leave the infirmary tonight." she said.
Filo's face then contorted into confusion, "Mama, how come we don't live together?" she asked.
"We do Filo, I know that…"
"No mama, I mean why doesn't papa live with us?" Filo asks, interrupting Erza's answer.
Erza did not know how to answer that one, "Well, your father is…" she says while trying to come up with an idea. "…he wants to save money to buy a big house for us." she lied.
Filo gasped, "Then we can live together?" she asked.
Erza sweat dropped, "Yes, of course! Now, maybe you should go meet your aunt Lisanna. I know she must be excited to meet you." she said.
"I will, I'm so happy auntie came back from heaven. Do you think grandma is coming too?" Filo asked.
"Filo what do you mean?" Erza asked.
"Papa said that auntie was in heaven and so was grandma. He said, that auntie used to send messages to uncle Natsu but he never listens." Filo explained.
"I see, well Filo. I think Lisanna is a special case. I don't know about your grandma being able to visit from heaven." Erza said unsure of what to tell Filo.
"Okay, good night mama. Love you." Filo said as she gave Erza a hug and left.
The next morning
The next day started off with Siegfried walking around the streets of Magnolia. Sadly for him, this was not the time for him to pack up and go hunting for dark mages. By now, anyone who would hear him complain about losing such an opportunity would see it as blood sport or a joke that never gets old. Whatever the opinion of others is, Siegfried is not walking alone in Magnolia.
"I'm afraid if you were seeking entertainment, you're a bit late for the Fantasia Parade." Siegfried told his hooded companion.
"I'm sure that won't hinder us. It's just business after all." Hisui said with a smile.
"Then why are you so close Princess?" Siegfried asked, as Hisui was hugging his arm very tightly.
Hisui blushed, "I'm lack the capability to defend myself." she said.
"It would help if Rusty would move faster. I do not like how he's so far behind us." Siegfried said as the two looked back.
Where Arcadios was wearing a bad disguise and moving ten feet behind them. Almost like he's attempting to avoid suspicion but failing at the same time. Regardless, it did help Siegfried keep another pair of eyes on the princess. Especially knowing how adventurous she can secretly get. Then again, under the typical sweet princess personality that she has, Hisui is not a complete airhead.
"If Rusty were attempting to move like a ninja, he would automatically fail. Unless it was the same test from 30 years ago." Siegfried said.
Hisui giggled, "You and Arcadios are such good friends. I have never seen two men give each other nicknames." she said.
Siegfried quirked an eyebrow, "What nickname does he give me?" he asked.
"Degenerate playboy." Hisui answered as Siegfried came to an abrupt stop. "Sir Siegfried?" Hisui asked.
Siegfried's eyes were covered by his bangs, "I see I'm well respected." he said dryly.
"Kick his ass Sieg." Naruto said.
Before Hisui could further question Siegfried. Her eyes were then moved towards a freshly printed poster on a wall. Just as the Azure Knight snapped out of his thoughts. He could see that the princess was distracted by some upcoming stage performance coming to town. Siegfried decided to look at the poster and wonder what caught the princess's eyes.

Siegfried grimaced at the second stage title. He did not want another incident to happen like it did with Erza and the rest of Team Natsu. He wasn't remotely sure how that director's play became successful or why nobody was angry that the whole theatre collapsed. Even more surprising, no one was killed or injured during the whole ordeal.
"I like this one." Hisui said.
"You enjoy seeing theaters burn princess?" Siegfried asked.
"What is this about theaters burning?" Hisui asked.
"Nothing, just remembering a small incident a few months ago." Siegfried answered.
"Oh, what do you think about the last title?" Hisui asked.
"Last title?" Siegfried asked as he read through the whole list until reaching the bottom.
-The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi
Siegfried's eyes widened at the last title, "I heard of it. The book had terrible sales when it came out." he said.
"I guess it had a cult following. I never looked into the author though." Hisui admits.
"He was a man that wrote pornography for most of his life through peeping on women." Siegfried said making Hisui feel disgusted.
"H-How do you know this?" Hisui asked.
"You forget princess, I trained in the ninja lands and that is where the author is from." Siegfried said reminding Hisui.
"Silly me, how I could have forgotten alludes me." Hisui said with a blush.
Siegfried quickly changed the subject, "Did you want to see one of these plays princess?" he asked.
Hisui thought it over before smirking, "If there's time." she said. 'I'll make time.' she thought.
Her thoughts of a potential date were interrupted. As Hisui could hear a loud explosion in the distance followed by crashing and sounds of destruction. Hisui quickly tightened her hold of Siegfried just as Arcadios stood in front of her. Ready to prepare for war from the looks of things.
"Calm down Rusty, it's just Fairy Tail." Siegfried said.
"Fairy Tail?" Arcadios asked.
At the guild
The guild would never function without at least one sign of violence. As various wizards in the guild were fighting each other regardless of their reasoning and rationality. Makarov just ignored the fight and took a swig from a pint of alcohol. Lucy sat at the bar to take in the energetic atmosphere. Gildarts just sat down and enjoyed himself a drink while telling stories to anyone that would listen while Cana watched him from afar. Finally there was Shukaku who was bothering Mira.
"I want a stamp." chibi Shukaku said.
"You want to join our guild?" Mira asked.
"Yeah, home is too far and I can just mooch off of Kurama." Shukaku said as he reached for the stamp.
"Okay, what color do you want it and where?" Mira happily asked.
Shukaku slapped his back to indicate the location. As Mira was about to let Shukaku join, unaware of the difficulty of stamping a body made of sand would be, she stopped as soon as Filo ran by.
"Papa!" Filo shouts.
"Naruto?" Mira asked.
When suddenly, Mira accidentally hit Shukaku in the face with the stamp. The chibi tanuki cried out in pain as he held his head as a bright lilac colored guild mark was attached to his face. The ichibi started to rub his face in an attempt to remove the stamp. Only for Kurama to laugh at his idiotic sibling's new form.
"That looks nice, you want some piercings with that?" Kurama asked making Shukaku glare at him.
Meanwhile, Filo ran up to Siegfried and hugged his waist, "Papa, can you take me on a mission with you?" she asked.
"Filo, you are a bit too young to handle my missions." Siegfried said awkwardly.
"Mou, not fair." Filo whined.
"S-Sir S-Siegfried, y-you have a daughter?" Hisui asked.
"Eh? Who's that papa?" Filo asked.
Now Siegfried felt more awkward, "Well Filo, this my boss. Meet…"
*THUMP*
"Hisui?" Siegfried asked only to turn and see Hisui on the ground.
The princess and future queen of Fiore was unconscious and foaming out of the mouth. The shock of her knight having a child was too much for her to bare. Arcadios suddenly came running in an attempt to resuscitate his charge.
"Princess! Wake up!" Arcadios yells as the memories of a young Hisui appeared in his mind.
Flashback, Hisui's childhood
As a knight with only couple of years of experience. Arcadios found himself with one of the most important tasks in the kingdom. One he could have never hoped to imagine when he was just a fresh face that enlisted into the royal army. Meeting the King of Fiore himself and becoming a bodyguard for his daughter.
"And this young Arcadios, is my daughter and future Queen of Fiore, Hisui." Toma said introducing a young girl gave Arcadios a meek look.
Arcadios bowed his head, "It is an honor to meet you Ojou-sama. I will give my life if it means you live on and prosper." he said with great pride.
Hisui nervously nods, "It is a p-pleasure to meet y-you, S-Sir Arcadios. Please take good c-care of me." she said before doing a curtsy.
Toma let out a hardy laugh, "No need to be so stiff everyone. I am very sure you will both grow close." he said.
Of course, the king was right. Arcadios even saw Hisui as a daughter to himself. Sadly, he also learned the bad part of people fatherhood and just raising a child in general. Not that Hisui saw Arcadios as a replacement for her busy father. It didn't mean that Arcadios wouldn't suffer changes in a growing woman. To best summarize this situation, the simple way to say this is that Hisui fell in love.

*CRASH*
Arcadios was covering the princess as a well known dark guild had attacked the ship they were on. It was normal, despite the usual protocol of important figures such as nobles, royalty and even high ranking military officials needing to be guarded by a large naval force. Hisui was being escorted on a normal civilian ship heading for Magnolia. This dark guild was really ambitious with how far they were willing to sacrifice after learning of the princess's appearance on the boat.
Only to be surprised by the appearance of a powerful freelancer on board with a cursed sword.
"Arcadios, what was that?" Hisui asked.
"I'm not sure, a man with a large sword just created a giant wall of crystals." Arcadios answered as he heard several heavy slashes in the distance.
"Who is he?" Hisui asked as she caught a glimpse of a man with a giant heavy sword.
Just then, the dark mage leader crashed into the pillar holding the mast, "Who are you!? What guild do you come from!?" he asked.
"I'm Siegfried Naruto and I just greatly dislike dark mages." the armored man said, but it felt like it was an understatement..
End of flashback
Arcadios glared at Siegfried, "This is all your fault!" he yells.
"Now is not a time to have a meltdown Rusty. Besides, I'm not the one who yelled out Hisui's identity." Siegfried replied calmly.
Followed by Arcadios screaming in shock, "WHAT HAVE I DONE!?" he asked.
Siegfried sighed, "You created a lot of trouble. That's what you've done Rusty." he said.
"Papa, who's the crazy man?" Filo asked.
"This is papa's coworker, you may call him Rusty." Siegfried answered.
"Stop calling me that and call a doctor!" Arcadios yells.
At the infirmary, a short while later
Hisui started to stir awake. She started to believe that she was still in bed and that the man she had developed romantic feelings for had a child. The young lady laughed off the wild idea until she groaned from a bad headache she felt. As well as feeling a cold towel on her forehead as she tried to move.
"Where am I?" Hisui asked.
"Fairy Tail, please don't scream Princess." Siegfried said as Hisui squeaked.
"Where are we Sir Siegfried!?" Hisui asked as she got her bearings.
"My grandfather's guild, I wanted to see what was the explosion from earlier. It was merely a bar brawl." Siegfried answered.
Hisui shook her head, "I feel nauseas. Still, I had this strange dream where you had a daughter." she said just as Filo arrived.
"Is the Princess okay papa?" Filo asked as she popped her head in.
"Oh no, it's a nightmare." Hisui muttered.
"Yes Filo, Princess Hisui is awake but please keep your voice down." Siegfried said as Filo nods but slowly approaches the bed.
"Hi Princess, I'm Filo." Filo whispered.
Hisui let out a nervous grin, "Nice to meet you Filo." she said before noticing the wings. "Is she an angel?" she asked.
Siegfried let out a laugh, "No, Filo is close to angel though. She's a legendary Filolial Queen." he answered as he rubbed Filo's head.
"I use wind magic too." Filo adds.
Hisui let out a giggle, "I see, can you transform into a real filolial?" she asked.
Filo nodded as she suddenly transformed into a giant bird, "Filo is also super fast." she said.
Hisui's eyes widened as she saw the giant avian before her. She thought the wings were an accessory or a magic tool. Heck, the princess thought Filo was just a child Siegfried found and adopted. Hisui remembered the fairy tales that her mother told her about an endangered species of bird similar to the chocobo. Where they had a queen capable of turning into a human.
"These feathers, they're so soft and real." Hisui said as she wasn't sure if a transformation could reach this level.
"Princess, while a magical transformation can reach near identical appearances. I'm afraid not even my henge could change biology." Siegfried said as Hisui looked at him. "Shinobi can turn into solid objects, but they're never perfect." he said.
If that were true, Siegfried would have the ability to turn into something capable of flight or of great speed. Then again, he would likely turn into a bomber plane to destroy every dark guild.
"I see, I never expected Filolial Queens to be real." Hisui said as she looked amazed.
"Careful Princess, you might fall in. Sometimes Wen likes to sleep in there." Filo said as Hisui's arm reached deep inside of the feathers.
"Oh my!" Hisui said with surprise.
Siegfried gently pulled her back, "She did warn you." He said as Hisui blushed. "Now then, do you think you can stand?" he asked.
Hisui nods as Siegfried helps her stand, "I'm sorry for losing myself earlier. I suppose I must not be feeling very well." she said.
That was a blatant lie. The princess could not picture her knight having a family without her. Though it could be worse, at least Hisui was not a yandere. Though she also did have a great dislike towards people with pink hair.
"Then let's get you back down. Rusty is going to throw a fit." Siegfried said before hearing her stomach rumble. Hisui blushed by how loud it was, "And maybe Mirajane can give you something edible." he said.
Then Arcadios arrived, "Now, I'll just leave this hot soup by… Princess!" he exclaimed as he ran only to drop the soup.
"Congratulations Rusty, you failed to protect the princess and now you are starving her." Siegfried said as Arcadios glared at him.
Downstairs, a little while later
Hisui let out sounds that somehow meant she felt delighted. Not like squeals of joy like a schoolgirl after trying out her a new drink at her favoritte coffee shop. Rather just mild satisfaction and she couldn't help with containing herself Hisui felt like she had not eaten in a week.
"I thank you for the meal Mira-san." Hisui said as she gave Mira a friendly smile.
"The honor is mine princess." Mira said.
Though inner Mira was angry, "Stupid spoiled brat, why is Naruto giving you attention? Your hair looks like the color of vomit. What's wrong with my mature and amazing white hair?" she thought.
"Mira-san are you okay?" Hisui asked as she could sort of see the dark fumes exiting her body.
"I'm perfectly fine princess." Mira replied but the dark fumes became thicker.
"Okay, let me pay for my meal then. Where did I put my purse?" Hisui asked.
"I'll cover the cost. Don't worry about it." Siegfried said as he grabbed his wallet.
"Now she's taking his money!? Stupid woman doesn't need to work when her daddy is the king!" inner Mira thought angrily.
'But didn't I extort Naruto before?' Mira thought as she remembered her memories of being a bully.
"There we go, and a tip for Mirajane. Never forget to tip your waitress." Siegfried said as he added extra money.
Mira pushed it back, "No thanks Naruto, it's fine." she said.
Siegfried took the money and rolled into Mira's palms, "Mirajane, did you forget how goods and services work? I know you would never turn down the extra money when we were children." he said as Mira flinched.
As this exchange went on, the rest of Fairy Tail was watching from a distance. Including Makarov who was hiding as if a nuclear war was about to go off. While the old man was okay with mocking the Magic Council as those old crones just wanted to find the latest excuse to shut them down. The Princess of Fiore was literally their next monarch and the person who outranks the council once that time comes. Now Makarov's adoptive grandson was just hanging out with her like she's his friend from school.
It didn't help that Makarov can see that killer intent leaking off of Mirajane.
'I swear, that little crush would have been obvious if Naruto was not following Erza around.' Makarov thought.
"Sir Siegfried, did I do something wrong? Everyone seems to be cautious." Hisui asked innocently.
The Princess and Knight looked around to see everyone in the guild were taking cover. As if Hisui was a nuclear bomb about to go off. Then again, royalty is not something that would ignore their shenanigans. The council is full of angry bitter middle aged individuals, but King Toma is a more direct individual as King and their actions would only further give a bad impression to their next ruler.
So Siegfried decided to try and break the ice with the guild. Though he also knew that they might get themselves shut down since Hisui is a person who delivers tough love. That and regardless of her relationship with Siegfried, she would more than likely press charges should an event similar to Laxus' thunder dome incident occur again.
Siegfried sighed, "Grandfather, is there not some business you have to announce to get to?" he asked.
Makarov cursed his grandson, "I do, but… I'm afraid these animals might get overly excited if I announce it." he said.
"Let's wait outside Princess." Siegfried said as he escorted the girl out.
"Okay, is it private?" Hisui asked, wondering why she was being taken outside.
A moment later, the whole guild sounded energetic. It even became more dangerously loud just as Arcadios came out.
"LISTEN UP BRATS, IN ONE MONTH'S TIME. WE WILL BE HAVING THE S-CLASS TRIALS!" Makarov announces as everyone let out a roar of excitement.
Hisui sweat dropped, "What happened?" she asked.
"Everyone is working towards being promoted so they can take on difficult missions." Siegfried answered.
"Oh, similar to your rank?" Hisui asked with a smile.
Siegfried let out an uncharacteristic groan, "Princess, technically speaking, I am not an active mage. If I went back, I would be back to D-Class." He said.
Hisui blushed, "Oh… I see." she said feeling awkward.
Arcadios snorted at the revelation, "Are you feeling sick Rusty?" Siegfried asked.
"Stop calling me names!" Arcadios yelled.
"Anyways, is there a schedule we need to follow?" Siegfried asked.
"Yes, there is and we are falling behind!" Arcadios said as he turned around and pulled out a schedule book.
That's when a certain pair decided to arrive, "Luce, I don't understand why Naruto had to put up all of those traps." said an irate voice.
Lucy sighed, "Because Natsu, I don't want you breaking in and kicking me out of bed. Then there's Gray who just walks in half naked and touches my book. Don't even get me started with Erza and Happy going through my underwear!" she said angrily.
"It's not my fault you like to wear skimpy clothes." Happy said to tease Lucy.
"You just like to get on my nerves cat!" Lucy replied angrily.
Siegfried sighed, "Let's go this way princess." he said as he put his arm around Hisui's shoulder and started walking the other way.
"Sure, where are we…"
"Naruto! How are ya!?"
"Crap." Siegfried said as Gildarts walked up to him.
"Hey kid, I saw you leaving and wanted to say hi before you left on an adventure or something." Gildarts said in a friendly manner. Where he then noticed Hisui, "What's this? You going on a date with a pretty girl?" he asked with a grin.
"Sort of." Siegfried answered.
The embarrassment was not that Gildarts was being a lame and annoying uncle figure. It was that he was being his normal self around royalty.
That's when Gildarts put his hand on his godson's head, "I'm so proud of you!" he said with tears running down his eyes.
"Sir Siegfried, who is this man?" Hisui whispered.
"My godfather and he can be very eccentric." Siegfried answered. "Speaking of which, he should know not to act this way in front of royalty." He said.
"What? Is she your princess? Is that some kind of pet name?" Gildarts asked with a raised brow.
"She's literally royalty." Siegfried said while Hisui blushed.
It took Gildarts a couple of minutes to realize that his godson told the truth. That and it took longer for him to recognize Hisui E. Fiore as the daughter of the current king of the nation. Prompting the Ace of Fairy Tail to take a step back.
"I see, have fun you two!" Gildarts said as he quickly moved around them and into the guild. Where he muttered to himself, "I'm glad I didn't get any beers yet. I think I almost caused a national incident." he said.
"I think it's best we move on." Siegfried said before hearing Natsu's voice.
"Naruto!" Natsu yells out.
"Crap." Siegfried cursed.
"Sir Siegfried?" Hisui asked.
Suddenly, Natsu ran behind Siegfried to make his presence known, "There you are! I've had it up to here with you ignoring my demand! I want a fight and I want it now!" he demands.
Suddenly Arcadios snapped back into reality, "You fool! How dare you make threats while in front the Princess!?" he asked angrily as he prepared to draw his sword.
Natsu however, looked confused, "Princess? What are you talking about?' he asked. "Never mind that, so are you ready or are you going to make an excuse?" he asked while ignoring Arcadios and Hisui's presence.
"Sure." Siegfried said getting Natsu excited. "If you make S Class." he said.
"What?" Natsu asked.
Suddenly Gray came rushing out of the guild, "Hey Pyro! S Class trials have been announced by the Master! You better move your ass if you don't want to be left behind!" he yells before running off to his next quest.
Natsu was suddenly stuck between two roads. On one hand, he can try and fight Siegfried regardless of the outcome. The other, he can try and qualify for the S Class trials which are done yearly and only few are selected every year. Natsu was literally stuck between a rock and a hard place.
"Damn it! I'll be back Naruto!" Natsu yells as he runs inside to look for a quest.
Hisu feels very confused, "You have very unique friends Sir Siegfried." she said as Happy followed Natsu.
"I know." Siegfried said as he was lucky that Natsu prided in becoming the strongest.
Which made it a perfect time for the S Class trials to begin. The time of the year where everyone in the guild would do a lot of quests in an attempt to qualify for the exam. Though S Class is not something legally binding between all guilds and under the council. It wasn't to say that it meant the successful wizard who won was weak. Rather, it meant who was worthy of more difficult missions.
Though perhaps the magic council and other guilds can assume someone's strength by those ranks. Kind of as a way to measure someone's skill and infamy.
Putting aside the concept of ranking up within the guild. Lucy decided to approach Siegfried and apologize to Hisui. Though unaware of the princess's identity, she didn't want anyone outside of the guild to think badly of them. Though it was likely too late with her surprise appearance at the guild earlier.
"I'm really sorry about that. Natsu is eccentric like most of the guild." Lucy said.
"No worries, I think I'm used to it." Hisui said awkwardly.
"I'm Lucy by the way, I see you're a friend of Naruto." Lucy said as Siegfried sweat dropped.
"I am, I'm Hisui E. Fiore." Hisui said as Siegfried facepalmed.
"Nice to meet you Hisui… wait, as in the princess?" Lucy asked as she certainly turned pale.
Siegfried sighed, "I need to give you an alias princess. Rusty here is not doing a better job of keeping you incognito." he said as Arcadios turned red from anger.
Lucy started to shake, "Wow… never thought I would meet a princess." she said very nervously.
"Lucy, she's a human being. The princess won't smite you." Siegfried said but Lucy continued to shake.
"I'm gonna… go this way before… anything happens!" Lucy said as she feared she what would happen to her for being so casual.
"And she was the normal one besides my little sister." Siegfried said.
Hisui let out a giggle, "I guess everyone in your guild is full of character." she said.
The next morning, 8-Island restaurant
With Hisui preoccupied with her own little duties. Ones that she mostly inflicted on herself for deciding to visit Magnolia. Siegfried decided to avoid stressing himself out and invited Levy to breakfast. Along with Filo who didn't want to neglect once he starts leaving for long periods of time. Siegfried decided that 8-Island seemed like a nice place, especially without Natsu's team being around to accidentally create a mess.
Levy yawned as the breakfast arrived, "Not that I'm not ungrateful, but why the sudden invite?" she asked.
"I hardly spend time with my little sister anymore. Is something wrong with that?" Siegfried asked back.
"Don't answer a question with a question." Levy said with dull eyes.
"I answered, then finished my statement with a question." Siegfried corrected.
"You want to play the grammar game with me? You are probably the strongest guy in Fairy Tail besides Gildarts and maybe the Master in his prime, but I'm the best at literacy." Levy replied.
Siegfried groaned, "Don't give me that. Just enjoy the food. Look, even Filo's excited." he said as he looked at the Filolial girl.
Who was currently playing with the kids menu, "Papa, I found three words!" she said as she presented the crossword on the menu.
"You did? You're very smart Filo. I'm proud of you." Siegfried said as Filo giggled.
"I'm surprised Lisanna didn't force you to bring her and Mira." Levy muttered.
"Why is that?" Siegfried asked.
Levy's eyes widened as she realized he heard that, "Forget it, anyways. You look more exhausted than me." she said.
Siegfried sighed, "Just stress from the job." he said.
"Are you sure?" Levy asked with a raised brow.
"Yes Levy, I expect you to feel the same with Jet and Droy fighting over you." Siegfried said just as breakfast for him and Filo arrived.
"Actually, believe it or not. I've been going on some missions with Gajeel lately." Levy said before hearing her brother's fork snap.
"Papa, you broke a fork." Filo said.
The Azure Knight sighed, "Yes Filo, I did a bad thing and now I need to pay for it." he said before waving down a waiter to get him another one. "Anyways, why are going on missions with that man?" he asked while trying to keep his aggression in check.
Levy frowned, "I know Gajeel isn't the best guy Naruto, but give him a chance. He's trying to do good. He even saved me from Laxus while you were in a coma." she said.
"Levy, I can give Gajeel a chance not to screw up, but forgiveness is a whole other thing." Siegfried replied before Filo grabbed his attention.
"Papa, can you help me cut the pancakes?" Filo asked.
"Sure Filo, let me get that for you." Siegfried said as he started cutting the pancakes. "Now listen to me Levy, I may be different, but my extended journey taught me a lot. Some good, some bad and a lot of things I still don't understand. Forgivness, is not just forgetting about past transgressions. It's accepting that they happened and believing change can occur without regression. Not just everyone being happy and…"
"Papa! You broke the plate!" Filo cried out.
Siegfried stopped and realized that he cut through the plate, "Oh no." he said.
Levy crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, "You've become Natsu, Naruto." she said. Siegfried paled as she explained herself, "You're angry, you don't want to listen and you're breaking things. What kind of lesson does that teach Filo?" she asked.
Filo looked at her adoptive father with eyes filled with confusion. She was very lucky that she was unable to read the tense situation.
While there is probably some emotional maturity meant to go on. Siegfried was only concerned with the fact that Levy was right about comparing him to Natsu. Which is ironic because his life as Naruto made him impulsive, quick to frustration and he always picked fights with Sasuke like Natsu does with Gray. The only difference is Gray didn't have the motivation to betray the guild and likely kill Natsu for a self interest.
"You're right, I'm a bad person." Siegfried said as he hanged his head in shame.
"I understand you're worried, but I think I know what I'm doing, so I ask you to trust me the same way I trust you, because after all, don't think I'm blind, I've noticed that these last few weeks you and Erza are constantly together when you're not on missions, and I wasn't happy about that, but I understand and respect the fact that you have your reasons for interacting with her." Levy explained with a lot of seriousness in her voice
Filo looked between her adoptive father and aunt with a confused expression. She didn't understand why things seemed to be intense or why it sounded like Levy didn't like Erza.
"Just answer me one thing, brother." Said a calm Levy. "I'm not judging you and I'm not angry either, I'm just curious, so answer me honestly... do you still have feelings for Erza like when we were kids?" asked Levy with a worried look on her face.
At this, the Azure Knight closed his eyes and let out a small sigh. Once they were open, Siegfried looked into Levy's eyes and gave his truthful answer.
"I think the best way answer that question. Is to tell you…"
That afternoon
As Makarov announced the S Class trials. 90% of the entire guild was already doing their best to get as many missions done in quick succession. Which left several of the less experienced and less interested wizards to stay behind and go on missions at their own pace. That or just relax now that the more rowdy members of the guild were already gone. One of these people included Nab who knew he had no chance whatsoever at the S Class trials.
Not that Nab is particularly weak or anything. The issue is that Nab doesn't exactly know what urgency is. As he typically stands in front of the sign board all day.
"Hey I should already be made S Class! I'm a badass bijuu!" Shukaku yelled.
"You are a pain and an annoyance Shukaku." Kurama said as Shukaku looked angry. "Also keep it down. You're giving me a headache." he said.
"That's it! You and me! Right now!" Shukaku said as he prepared for a fight.
Kurama shook his head while Wendy looked confused, "Shouldn't family learn to get along?" she asked.
"Shukaku is an idiot Wendy. Getting along is not in his vocabulary." Kurama said as Wendy frowned.
"No, family has to be learn to love." Wendy said.
"See, the girl is smart. Not like your stubborn ass." Shukaku said.
"Yeah papa, you're an ass." Wendy said earning a glare from Wendy.
"Wendy, there is no cursing allowed here." Kurama said as Wendy blushed at the fact that she cursed. He then faced Shukaku, "And you. Stop cussing in front of my daughter!" he yelled before punching him across the guild.
Shukaku quickly recovered, "Make me!" he yelled.
Lucy sighed, "I guess with Natsu gone. Someone else has to pick a fight." she said.
Mira merely waved it off, "Someone has to keep the guild lively." she said as the bijuu destroyed a table in the process.
"Still, how does the master afford the repairs for damages?" Lucy asked.
"It's best not to think about it." Mira answered.
*CRASH*
"It's also not best to think about how clumsy my sister is." Mira said as Lucy sweat dropped.
"I'm sorry, was that two colas and a tea?" Lisanna asked in the back.
Mira sighed, "My sister still has issues using her magic. So Master Makarov had to let her work as a barmaid." she said.
Lucy nodded, "Well, two years being "dead" will do that to you." she said.
"I don't see why. I can handle it pretty easily." Mira said looking curious.
"That's convenient." Lucy muttered.
Regardless of rank, it did feel like a mystery for someone like Mirajane who's been a pacifist for two years to suddenly become powerful again. Especially against Freed Justine who was a member of Laxus' team. With Laxus considered to be the strongest since Gildarts is hardly around. Then again, no one did see the fight between Mira and Freed. As the man very likely lost due to being surprised and hit with heavy attacks in quick succession.
"Maybe when you're S Class, you will understand Lucy." Mira said teasing Lucy.
"I think aside from certain events. My S Class mission was a fluke." Lucy said.
The mission Lucy mentioned, was merely an act of stupidity. Apparently the indigenous looking people of Galuna Island were convinced that the moon turned them into demons at night. Only to learn that they were actually real demons and somehow forgot that fact. Then Erza arrived and had to explain that truth, but for some reason the village elder still wanted the team to destroy the moon.
A good thing it was impossible, not that Kaguya needed a way to escape from her prison.
"I doubt that's stopping Natsu in the future." Mira said making Lucy groan.
"Mama! I'm home!" Filo yelled as she came running in.
Mira giggled as she walked out to greet her "daughter", "Hi Filo, did you have fun with papa?" she asked.
Filo nodded, "I had a yummy breakfast and then papa took me to the park and then papa got me a book." she said.
"Did your aunt Levy encourage it?" Mira asked as Levy's bookworm personality always motivated her search for literature.
Filo nodded again, "Aunt Levy said that books will make me super smart and super strong." she answered.
Mira rolled her eyes, "Of course she did." she said.
"Aunt Levy is the best aunt!" Filo said as Lisanna suddenly fell down.
"Eh!? What about me Filo!?" Lisanna asked while crying anime tears.
"Filo don't run on your own." Siegfried said as he came in with Levy and the pile of books they bought.
"Sorry papa! I just wanted to say see mama Mira." Filo said.
Mira giggled, "And I can see that she had a lot of fun too." she said with a bright smile.
Siegfried sighed, "I guess that's all that really matters isn't it?" he asked with a weak smile.
Then Filo ran up to Siegfried, "Papa, since I can't go on missions with you. Can you train me like uncle Kurama does for Wen?" she asked.
Shukaku snorted, "BWAHAHA! Uncle Kurama!" he laughed before being punched into the ceiling by the fox.
Siegfried raised a brow, "What sort of training are you talking about?" he asked.
"The other energy that's like magic. Uncle Kurama said you're the only other one that knows it." Filo explained.
"You mean chakra?" Siegfried asked.
Filo nodded, "Yeah, can you teach me catra too?" she asked.
Siegfried scratched the back of his head, "It's a difficult art Filo. Are you sure you want to learn it?" he asked.
Filo nodded, "Filo will work super hard!" she exclaimed.
Siegfried chuckled, "Okay, but no slacking off okay?" he asked.
Mira giggled at how the conversation went, "Filo, don't you want me to train you too? I'm an S Class mage afterall." she asked.
"Papa is better, he's probably an SS Class mage." Filo said as Mira hit the floor.
"That's mean Filo-chan! SS isn't even a real rank!" Mira said as she cried anime tears. Then she quickly stood up, "Besides, I bet I can take on your papa in a fight." she said confidently.
Filo thought if over, "Maybe, but papa still wins." she said.
"That girl is playing favorites." Lucy said.
"Okay, let's settle it right now. You and me Naruto! I could kick your butt when we were kids and I'll kick your butt right now!" Mira said although some could hear playfulness in her voice.
Suddenly Siegfried was an inch away from Mira. The barmaid panicked at the realization as she quick flailed her hands around. Only to let out a loud scream by her former victim's next attack on her body. With the scream being so loud, Makarov ran out of his office as Erza did from the infirmary room. Only to watch Mira's predicament.
"Stop pinching me!" Mira cried out.
"You lack the Will of the Warrior Mirajane Strauss. Once the proud demon of the fairies… now a cute girl on a magazine." Siegfried whispered into her ear.
"Stop teasing me!" Mira said as she turned red from embarrassment.
Siegfried stopped pinching Mira, "You need to start training Mira. No disrespect, but you can't run head first into fights anymore." he said as she pouted. "Anyways, I have some business to attend to. Filo, if you want. I can start tomorrow with basics." he said.
"Yes Papa!" Filo replied excitedly.
"Good, I'll be back in the morning." the Azure Knight said as he left.
"Bye papa!" Filo said as everyone waved him goodbye.
Levy giggled, "He's so serious, but it's just adorable by this point." she said.
Meanwhile, Makarov jumped down from where he stood, "I see Naruto went a bit rough with you." he told Mira.
Mira glared, "He cheated Master!" she said angrily.
"Then be prepared Mira. Maybe you should retake the trials again and grow some humility." Makarov said.
"He has a point Mira. You have your magic again, but you can be a bit clumsy." Erza said.
"You want to settle an old score Erza?" Mira asked as she raised her fist. Only for Erza to pinch her really hard, "OUCH! Stop pinching me!" she yelled.
Erza sighed, "Actually Mira, while we're on the topic. Do you think- OW! Now you are pinching me!" she yelled angrily. "And from the stomach too! Who does that!?" she asked.
"If I'm weak for not training then you are getting chubby from all of the Strawberry Cheesecake, fatty!" Mira said smugly.
Levy sighed, "I guess old habits don't die." she said as Filo looked confused.
With Siegfried
After leaving the guild, Siegfried met up with the Princess in her suite at a hotel. Though he secretly had a good idea as to why the Princess really went this far to visit Fiore. Siegfried kept a professional stance when meeting with her. Yet when he activated his sensory to check for potential threats, he could sense various emotions leaking from Hisui.
Especially as he sat next to her on the couch in the hotel room. That and it didn't help that her guards were securing the perimeter outside of the suite.
"All things seem clear. No threats detected." Siegfried said sounding almost robotic.
Hisui smiled, "That is good to hear. Now the, onto business yes?" she asked.
While Hisui did manage to obtain decent information that actually did help the country. She couldn't help but wish that the semantics would be finished a lot sooner. As the meeting had felt like an eternity before she could drop the professionalism. Where the princess then proceeded to get a bit personal.
"Sir Siegfried, I never realized how important this all was until a few years ago." Hisui started to say. "I admit, even with all the powers in the world. I cannot keep this kingdom happy or make it perfect." she said.
Hisui looked at the window overlooking the town of Magnolia. Where she could see citizens walking home for the night as the lights came on. At the same time, she could remember a memory she deeply regretted.
"But you helped me understand the issues of my homeland at first glance." Hisui continued.
"How so?" Siegfried asked.
"On the boat over two years ago. I remember when the dark guild attacked my escort. You came to the rescue." Hisui said as she remembered his words. "Just someone who hates dark mages. That's what you said and when you came close to me when my life was threatened." she stopped and took a deep breath.
Siegfried leaned forward as the memory came back to him.
"Monster!"
Hisui winced, "I said some terrible things. Even with all my years of studying and conditioning. I could never really understand the nature of others." she said.
"Princess Hisui, understanding people is simple once you open up. It's considering the actions and beliefs of others that make things difficult." Siegfried interrupted.
Hisui nodded as she smiled, "I see, I suppose if you were any more wise. You would be the one ruling Fiore." she said jokingly. 'By my side.' she thought as she suppressed a blush.
"Ruling is not just about who is the most intelligent or the most powerful princess. Personally, I think a part of it is trying to make the decisions no other person can make. Even if not everyone is happy." Siegfried said while thinking about his past life's dream.
To be Hokage, one is to endure. Not only that, it's not a title to make people acknowledge you. The owner of the title is acknowledged.
"I can see that, but maybe the smile of one person is the light of hope that strengthens me." Hisui said as she subtly scooted closer to him.
"I can sense some tension from you." Siegfried said.
Hisui blushed, "Well, I have been feeling a little bit of stress lately." she said as she rubbed her arm. "And a part of me has been thinking." she said while feeling awkward.
The Princess mentally cursed herself as she didn't expect someone like herself to be acting like a shy school girl.
"Thinking about what?" Siegfried asked.
Hisui slowly turned her eyes towards his eyes, "You see…"
Back at the guild
While Siegfried was gone and Kurama calmed down from beating up Shukaku. Erza and Mira decided to talk in private while Filo was reading her new book with Levy. Erza explained the details of the fight she had with Siegfried.
"Naruto fought you and won because you wanted to know about his secret? Why would you challenge him in the first place?" Mira asked.
Erza sighed, "Mira, it's not healthy. Whatever Naruto is hiding. It's tearing him inside." she said.
"Says the girl who closed herself off when she showed up." Mira replied.
"You weren't any better Mira, but I'm not here to argue with you about that." Erza said as she sounded more serious. "I need your help fighting him." she said.
"Why!?" Mira asked as if Erza suddenly turned stupid.
"Because! I think I can get Naruto to open up." Erza said with a tired sigh. "I know I screwed up. I cannot be forgiven for being a terrible person to Naruto, but I don't want him to suffer any more than he already has." she said.
Mira took a deep breath as she also started taking Erza seriously, "If what you're saying is true, how is fighting Naruto going to help with anything?" she asked.
"Naruto constantly tells me that my heart is weak. I don't know if he's saying my motivation or reason to fight is bad, but I think he wants me to improve myself." Erza explained as she thought about Siegfried's words. "And thinking about it, he used the Will of the Warrior philosophy on you." he said.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Mira asked curiously.
"I guess he meant that you lost your way or maybe you never found it. You were pretty rowdy as a child." Erza said as Mira glared at her. "But that's beside the point. Naruto wants me to beat him, but he never said I can ask for help. Only now, I think you might want to trade the pretty dress for a tracksuit." she said.
Mira pouted, "And maybe you need to drop the cake and pick up a salad." she said as Erza glared back. "Anyways, you have a point. I guess with the S Class trials, everyone is training so it might be good to get back in shape after two years." she said.
"Then we're in agreement?" Erza asked.
"We are." Mira said as she extended her hand. Which Erza shook, "Thinking about it, have we ever worked together at something?" she asked.
"Maybe on a mission, but I cannot remember if I have to be honest with you." Erza said as this only solidified their pact.
Meanwhile, Levy was pulling out a letter from her bag, 'Those two seem be plotting something.' she thought before tearing open the letter. 'Still, Naruto needs to open up to us. He's hurting worse than ever.' she thought before glancing at Filo.
The little Filolial smiled as she read her little book. Levy smiled as she gently put an arm around her niece.
'Filo was a big surprise and I think she helped Naruto with coping.' Levy thought before looking at the letter. 'Funny, I think besides that journal. These letters are the only thing giving me insight of my brother's chronicles.' she thought.

Dear Levy,
I bet by now you're wondering why there's a sudden jump in time. Either you're reading these too fast or maybe I threw away all of the other letters. Little sis, I can't really explain how I feel. I think some part of me feels hope, maybe happiness? Blind optimism? I don't know, but there's this continent I heard about. It's south of Ishgar and called the Elemental Nations.
My mom gave me a surname because she wanted more for me. Except she wanted it to be more special. So she named me after the legendary hero of this place. I only remembered it now because of an amazing statue I found. I probably mentioned it a thousand times when we were little. Heck, when I finally send these letters to you. I'll probably talk about it a thousand times more.
Someone so great, they gave him a statue in the middle of a barren wasteland. Almost as if it were a sign of hope. Maybe it's my excitement talking, but I felt like this was a sign from the universe. That hope always runs deep and there will always be a chance for a better tomorrow. Because if one kid as old as me can change the world. Then I can save myself and everybody from my curse. All because of one man.
Levy focused her eyes as she read the next lines. Almost feeling as if this was the most important arc in these letters.

"Naruto Uzumaki?" Siegfried asked as he walked towards the end of canyon edge to see a large statue standing amongst ancient rubble.
With his limited agility, Siegfried climbed around the rocks and made his way up to the statue. The young man looked up at the statue in awe before reading the description.
Naruto Uzumaki
The unpredictable knuckle headed ninja. So unpredictable, he could change the entire world with words instead of fists.
Siegfried gently touched the statue plaque and for some reason his vision became blurry. That's when he realized that his eyes were watery for some reason. Siegfried wiped the tears away before smiling and nodding at the statue.
"Just you wait, you're not the only one who gets to hog all the glory!" Siegfried exclaimed before running off. Only to trip on his face, "Stupid ghost!" he cursed before looking at the stream of water beside him.
Siegfried looked at the water curiously as he saw a big lump moving in the stream. It looked too odd to be a rock and it didn't look like litter either. Siegfried stumbled towards the lump and pulled out some cracked gemstone of some kind from the stream. The blond knight looked at it curiously before pocketing it.
"Maybe it's good luck. I bet I can turn it into a necklace or something." Siegfried said before continuing his journey.
Village Gates
Siegfried tapped his foot anxiously after turning in his passport so he can be admitted inside. He couldn't help but feel nervous for some reason. Almost as if trouble was about to break out again, but that's the exact last thing he did not want.
"Clear, nice name by the way." the gate guard said as Siegfried nodded.
"Thanks." Siegfried said before jogging inside.
"Hey don't just run in there!" the gate guard yelled before sighing. "Dumb kid, welcome to Konoha I guess." he said.
Siegfried continued to run around the village before he saw the Hokage tower, "That's it!" he said as he kept running only to bump into someone.
"Watch it idiot!" yelled some dark haired girl with glasses.
"Sorry!" Siegfried said before he kept running.
"Baka." the girl said.
"Sarada-chan, be nice." said a pink haired woman.
"I hate tourists mom. Nothing but crazy people treating us like circus animals." Sarada said.
The mother sighed, "I remember someone that energetic who didn't take things seriously. You should learn to be more patient with people." she said. "Still, I wonder what that boy wanted." she said as she continued her walk with her daughter.
At the same time, Siegfried looked at a picture in his hand, "Red eyes, black comma marks, okay. Someone here should be able to control my demon." he said before running towards the Hokage's tower.
