Hermione sat at his bedside, waiting. He'd been in a coma for four days already. The Healers were not sure when he would wake. 'His magic is weak, but getting stronger.' They explained.
He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. A bomb blasted outside the Apothecary he was in. Luckily he was not near the wall or he'd be dead. Debris struck him in the head and he lost a lot of blood. His left arm was broken from being pinned under a fallen shelf as well.
"The Healers say you're getting stronger every day my love. Oh, Draco. Please wake up. Scorpius visits every day with your mum and my dad. He drew you the best picture. I haven't told anyone of our news. I cannot. Not until I tell you first. Come on, Malfoy. I miss your voice." She lifted his hand and kissed his open palm when she felt it twitch.
Dropping it, she stood to look over his face. His brows were pinched together and he was murmuring something. He was waking, so she sent a patronus to alert the Healers. As Healer Thompson and Johanssen came in, Draco opened his eyes. Hermione choked out a sob as she saw her husband's eyes for the first time in almost a week.
"Mister Malfoy? My name is Healer Johanssen. You were in an explosion. You are at St. Mungo's. Do you understand me?" Draco nodded then his eyes searched his surroundings and widened at the sight of Hermione. "Mister Malfoy? Do you recognise this woman?" He nodded.
"Come miss, this way." Healer Thompson waved her over. "Have a seat." Hermione smiled at her husband and took his hand and his eyes searched her own.
"What, why?" Draco spluttered. The Healers talked over him as the explained everything that had happened. Once they quieted, Hermione had them sit Draco up so he could drink. "Thank you, Granger." Hermione couldn't help but comb her fingers through his hair earning another strange wide-eyed gaze from him. "Excuse me, but why are you here, Granger? Last I heard, you moved to Australia."
At his question, Hermione felt as if she was going to be sick. He had amnesia. The Healers scanned his diagnostics and brain activity and confirmed there was some slight swelling and bruising causing retrograde amnesia. "Mister Malfoy, this is your wife, Hermione. Do you remember her?"
"My wife! How the bloody hell did I land Hermione effing Granger?" He seemed shocked but pleased at the same time. "Are we in love or was this a forced arrangement? Fuck. Don't answer that." He looked at her with frightened eyes.
"Draco, love, calm down. Breathe. Take my hand." He did and instantly relaxed as Hermione stroked his knuckles lightly with her thumb. "We are married and have a son, Scorpius. Well, he's your son, but I have adopted him."
Draco nodded, "Yes, I do remember my son. He's 18 months." She shook her head.
"Actually, he just turned three. Give yourself a few days. It'll come back to you." She stroked her fingers through his hair. "I actually have news to tell you. We've been trying since our wedding to get pregnant. I found out the day of your accident that we are 8 weeks pregnant. I have been waiting to tell you since." He reached and wiped a tear she hadn't realised had escaped.
"Don't cry Granger. At least I've been in love with you since I was a dumb kid so I'm not too torn up to find that you are mine. And we're going to have a baby. This feels more like dream than a nightmare." He smirked that Malfoy way that made her heart melt. She noticed the Healers snuck out of the room and got up to curl up to him in his hospital bed. She couldn't help but cry. "Hey, Granger. Please don't cry. I'll remember soon." Draco stroked her hair and whispered sweet nothings into her ear. Before she knew it, they'd both fallen asleep.
"Grandmom! Grandpa!" Narcissa and Jasper jumped out of bed and ran down to Scorp's bedroom; the sound of him screaming for them waking them from their deep slumber.
"What's wrong champ?" Jasper asked as he picked him up. The toddler hugged him tightly. Narcissa combed her fingers through his silky platinum locks.
"I miss mummy and daddy. When is daddy going to wake up? I want them home!" He cried out.
"Why don't we eat some pancakes and then Floo over to St. Mungo's to visit? You can bring the new picture you drew last night." Scorp sniffled then nodded before Jasper transferred him into his grandmother's arm.
They ate breakfast, dressed, and then headed to the Floo just as a Fire-call came through. "Dad! Mum?" It was Hermione. They opened the Floo for her and her floating head manifested. "Great news! Draco's awake!" They all cheered and Scorpius yelled 'Yay!' "He seems to have some memory loss, but the Healers say once the bruising and swelling go down, he should retain his memories." At the look on her dad and Narcissa's face, she explained more. "He doesn't remember our relationship and the last he remembers is right before we reunited. In his mind, Scorpius is 18 months old but like he told me, luckily he's been in love with me since we were kids so he was only shocked we are together and married."
"We were actually coming through to go visit him. Is he awake now?" They ended the call shortly after so that she could prepare Draco for their visit. They waited ten minutes before Flooing away.
Scorpius held tightly to each of his grandparents hands as they walk to his father's private room. Jasper knocked before they entered. Draco was sitting in a chair having tea when they entered. "Daddy!" Draco smiled and could feel the threat of tears in the corners of his eyes.
"Hey, Scorp!" He held his arms out and chuckled as his son jumped into his awaited hug. "Oh bud! Daddy loves you. You're so big!" Hermione giggled and stood behind his chair, placing a swift kiss to the crown of his head before their son saw her for the first time in four days.
"Hi Mummy!" Like always, the sound of him calling her mummy made her heart melt.
"Hey bug." She knelt down next to her husband and their child and they had a cuddle. After a few minutes, she stood again taking Draco's hand in hers. "I actually have more great news. Well, we both do. Malfoy, love? Do you want to do the honours?"
With the brightest smile she'd ever seen on his face, his cleared his throat before announcing, "Scorp is going to be a big brother!" Narcissa squealed with joy.
"Oh! I'm so happy for you all!" She hugged them each of them before allowing Jasper his chance. Draco seemed a bit awkward but he didn't remember him at all.
"Um, I know I must know you since you are here and all, but who exactly are you?" He asked the older man. Jasper's smile faltered before he answered him.
"I, um, I am your father-in-law as well as your mother's boyfriend, Jasper William Granger. And I understand, son." Draco's heart clenched at the man calling him son. A Muggle, his mother was dating a Muggle. Weird.
"Wow. Okay. Um, great to meet you, again." The rest of their visit was spent listening to the story of how the were reintroduced and fell in love, their wedding, their friends, and anything else they could think of. "Harry Potter and Pansy? Really? Now I know this is a dream." He chuckled. They stayed until lunch then Scorpius gave his parents big squeezes before leaving with his grandparents.
Hermione sat in her husband's lap and kissed him. Draco felt his heart racing as he deepened the kiss. He knew he'd done this before but he couldn't remember any of it. "Draco," she whispered before kissing him again before breaking apart, "I thought I'd lost you. I never want to go through that again. I love you so much." Draco nuzzled her face before stroking his hand across her abdomen.
"And I'm so in love with you. I'll be damned if I ever put you through this again, but Love? This world is not always the safest so cannot promise you anything, but I will try to be more vigilant about my surroundings. With one more kiss, he stood with her in his arms and led them back to bed.
A/N: Short update but I am starting to write again. I hope to get all of my stories updated soon.
