A few weeks after the prom, Jonathan gets a phone call. Any excitement he gains from his father calling him is dashed when Jonathan hears Michael gush about Ashley, Jonathan's new sister. When Jonathan hangs up, Angela asks from her seat on the couch going through an account, "Who was that?"

"Dad. He was telling me about my new sister. Her name's Ashley," Jonathan remarks nonchalantly. Staying positive for her son, Angela congratulates him. When her son shrugs in response, Angela can tell her son is less than thrilled about the baby. Asking if he wants to talk about it, Jonathan declines before heading to his room. Angela explains as little as she knows to Tony when he asks about Jonathan's behavior but begs her husband not to push the twelve year old to tell them anything.

"But," Tony begins wanting to help. Pointedly, Angela warns, "Tony. Leave him alone. He'll talk when he's ready."

Jonathan never talks to them about his new sister the rest of the week happy to actually have final exams as a decent excuse to be left alone.

With school over, Angela brings up to Jonathan at breakfast, "What do you want to do for your birthday?"

Shrugging, Jonathan answers, "I don't know."

"You gotta want to do something," Tony remarks from his place at the stove. "We could rent a movie and your friends could come over? Go out to eat?"

Shaking his head at the idea, Jonathan sighs, "I don't know."

"Well, take time to think about it and we can talk about it later," Angela states. Nodding, Jonathan excuses himself from the table and Angela looks at Tony with a frown.

"What?" Tony asks. Shaking her head, Angela answers, "I think Jonathan is still upset about Michael and Heather's."

"About their new baby?" Tony asks trying to figure out how that would make him upset about a birthday. Nodding, Angela complains, "He won't talk about it. I've tried."

"You told us not to push him into saying anything," Tony whines as his wife answers, "I didn't push him directly. Just asked him how he was."

Jonathan for his part decides not to tell his mom his opinion about his Dad's new baby. He is more upset that Ashley is his replacement and does not want his mom to think he will feel that way about this baby. Instead Jonathan decides to spend his time focusing on what he wants for his birthday. Broaching the topic with his parents in the kitchen one afternoon he explains, "I'm too old for a birthday party. How about I just have some friends over."

Sharing a look, Angela and Tony question when Jonathan started growing up. Looking at her son, Angela asks him to get a list of friends for her.

Shrugging, Jonathan agrees before leaving the room.

"Tony, we need to think of a girl name," Angela remarks as she sits next to her husband on the couch the next night.

"Ingrid?" Tony teases with a smirk. Mulling over the name, Angela surprised Tony when she answers, "As a middle name? I don't want her to get made fun of."

"It's not like we're making her middle name Morton," Tony remarks adding, "We don't have to go with Ingrid."

"No, I like it, I just can't think of another name. Michael took the name Ashley."

"Do you even like the name Ashley?" Tony asks. Shrugging, Angela answers, "It could have been an option."

"How about Sophia?" Tony asks. Shaking her head, his wife replies, "I like it, just not with Ingrid. What about a family name?"

"We're not naming a future daughter, Mona."

With a laugh, Angela replies, "No, I was thinking your mother."

"Oh, her name was Anna. Anna Ingrid," Tony says softly to himself. With a smile, Angela answers, "So either Anna Ingrid or Robert Matthew."

The couple is quiet a moment as Tony turns on the TV and searches through channels. During a commercial, Angela asks, "Does Jonathan have a list of friends he wants to invite for his birthday? I told him to write them down."

"Angela, what twelve year old do you know who is going to write down a list for their parents? All I know is he wants to invite Walter."

"He's still friends with Walter?" Angela asks in disbelief.

"Apparently. That's whose house he's at."

Shaking her head, Angela comments, "I think I'm losing more brain cells with this pregnancy than with Jonathan's."

The rest of the week, Angela and Tony make sure to have the house ready for Jonathan's friends. On the twelve year old's actual birthday, Tony ecstatically hands Jonathan his birthday pancakes as Angela and Samantha hand him a couple gifts. One is a new Nintendo game and the other are tickets to his favorite concert. Going to school that day, Jonathan decides that nothing is going to ruin his weekend. The next day, Samantha decides to leave the house once the first of Jonathan's friends arrives for the birthday party. The last thing she wants is to be around twelve year old boys. Calling out to his daughter, Tony asks, "Where are you going?"

"Nowhere," She squeaks as her father states, "You have to stay for the party Sam."

Tony almost adds something about Jonathan being her brother, but stops himself. Instead Tony watches his daughter sigh heavily before asking why she has to stay.

"He stays for all of yours. Now, Angela and I need help in the kitchen. I promise you don't have to interact with any of his friends until it's time for cake."

Rolling her eyes, Sam answers, "Fine. I'll do it for the cake."

Watching the kids run around in the backyard with water guns, Angela finishes washing a few of the dishes happy her son has a group of good friends. Tony is currently grilling hamburgers and trying to avoid being hit too much by the water and Angela has to laugh when her husband joins in on the fun. About to go outside with a pitcher of lemonade, Angela is surprised when the phone rings. Answering, Angela is surprised to hear Michael on the other line ask for Jonathan.

"He's outside right now with his friends. I can tell him you called," Angela states not wanting to ruin her son's fun. Then, Jonathan runs through the door almost slipping on the linoleum calling out her name.

"Careful, Sweetheart," Angela tells him and can hear Michael ask if Jonathan is in the room. Placing her hand over the receiver, Angela asks her son if he wants to talk to his father. Reluctantly, Jonathan agrees to take the phone leaving Angela to bring out the lemonade and condiments.

"What's wrong with Jonathan?" Tony whispers when the boy comes outside for lunch half an hour later. Grabbing the hotdog buns from beside the grill, Angela answers, "Michael called."

Tony simply nods before putting a smile on his face and making sure to keep an eye on Jonathan. The rest of the day goes by and both Angela and Tony are convinced Jonathan is feeling better at least until the party is over. Once the last of his friends leaves, Jonathan heads upstairs to his room.

"Hey Squirt," Samantha acknowledges from the hall. Surprised he is not even a little annoyed with her, Samantha follows Jonathan to his room.

"Go away," Jonathan yells sitting on his bed staring at the ceiling. Shocked at his attitude, Samantha calls him spoiled for pouting after a party Tony and Angela throw him.

"It's not about the party," He mumbles. "My dad called."

"Well, that's good, right?" Samantha asks tentatively sitting on the bed. Jonathan shrugs. After a moment, the boy states, "I think they're trying to replace me."

"Dad and Angela are not trying to replace you," Samantha insists with an eye roll. She forgets how dramatic Jonathan can be sometimes. Shaking his head, Jonathan replies, "Dad and Heather. When I was there at Christmas they barely acknowledged me after two days. Now after Ashley, he's trying to win Dad of the Year or something."

"Maybe you should talk to Angela about this," Samantha mumbles as Jonathan keeps ranting feeling completely underqualified for this conversation. Looking toward the door, Samantha sighs in relief when she sees her dad in the doorway with Angela not far behind him. Motioning his daughter toward him, Tony watches as Jonathan realizes who is in the doorway.

"Does everyone have to know my problems?" Jonathan complains. Walking into his room, Tony and Angela ask him what is wrong. Leaving the situation, Samantha goes downstairs. Finding the birthday cake in the fridge, Samantha takes a slice and sits down just when the kitchen door opens.

"Oh, there's still cake left!" Mona exclaims happily. With a small laugh, Samantha asks where the red head has been.

"I had a prior engagement. Where's Jonathan?"

"Upstairs talking to Dad and Angela. Apparently Michael destroyed his birthday somehow?"

"He has that affect on people," Mona replies before getting her own slice of cake.

Half an hour later, Angela and Tony head downstairs and to the kitchen knowing there are still a few more things to clean up after the party.

"How's Jonathan?" Samantha asks when the adults enter the room. Mona nods curious to know what is wrong with her grandson. With a sigh, Angela answers, "He's having a hard time adjusting to his dad having another kid."

"And us having a kid," Tony adds. Sitting down beside Samantha and Mona, Tony and Angela ask, "Do you think you could help us show Jonathan how much you love him?"

"Woah, love is a big word there Angela. He's a good kid, but-" Samantha begins before catching her father's glare. Quickly, Samantha corrects herself and agrees. Mona simply nods before asking, "Do you mind if I talk to him?"

Shrugging, Angela answers, "Sure."

Eventually, Mona is able to understand what Jonathan's reservations are about his new siblings. The boy is having trouble adjusting to all the changes that are happening to him and feels completely overwhelmed. Mona suggests to Angela that Jonathan go to therapy to help him cope with all the new changes. Agreeing, Angela still questions if this is somehow her fault. Expressing her thoughts to Tony, Angela is surprised when Tony tells her, "That's a lot to deal with, Angela. For us too. This baby is going to change a lot of stuff, but we'll get through it."
