Hush

Chapter One

The sun rose high in the clear blue sky, as the birds glided upon the wind as they chirped. While the tree branches waved back and forth to the rhythm of the wind.

Standing on top of a four-story building in New York City, Nadine smiled as she raised her hand's up to the sky, feeling the breeze along with watching the birds. The sun's warmth felt nice upon her skin. It filled her with so much joy, but the moment she looked down upon the city, her smile quickly disappeared.

From cars piled on top of each other, men and woman fighting in the streets to turned over food vendors trucks, and people running away with food or whatever they could carry. While thousands of injured people lay in the streets unable to get treatment. Tears filled Nadine's eyes as she continued looking at the violence. Dropping to her knees, all she could do was look on in horror, wanting nothing more for this chaos to end.

Oh, great one…what have you done?

Pulling her eyes away from the destruction, she looked back to the sky, where peace remained. What could she do to stop this? That was when she remembered the voice she spoke too before. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath before disappearing.

I shall find the one who can bring back peace, so please hold on.

Meanwhile, wandering through Camp Half-Blood, Percy noticed many people and creatures alike with their heads in their hands. They wept while others screamed, hoping to hear their own voice, to no avail.

The daughters of Aphrodite still held their beauty, as they wept while the satyrs came out of the woodworks to wipe away their tears. As for the children of Apollo and Athena, many of them were fine. They were smiling and continued on like nothing was wrong while others refused to move. Because of that happens to them.

But it was the children of Ares that cause the most trouble. From attacking other students and staff to ripping up tents. Percy found Chiron and Dionysus struggling with the staff to keep them from causing any more damage. While moving a few of them to a cell, one slipped from Chiron's clutches and charged toward Percy.

Stepping to the side, Percy caught a glimpse of tears in the young man's eyes. He turned around, picked up a sword, then looked back at Percy. Tears streaming down his face, the man kept slashing away at Percy, who dodge his attacks with ease. Seeing such despair upon this man's face, he wondered where was their leader? Where was Clarisse? If anyone could calm down these confused lost ones down, it's her. But where was she?'

Standing still, Percy's eyes narrowed as the man charged at him. The moment he was within reach, Percy grab his hand. Squeezing it had the man dropped the sword, punching him in the gut the man hunch over as he dropped to his knees. Chiron walked over, helping the man to his feet while nodding to Percy.

Pulling out his black marker, he wrote on his whiteboard. "Where is Clarisse?"

Chiron merely shrugged. Handing the man off to Dionysus, he wrote back. "I haven't seen her, but it seems we might have another problem." Chiron finished, pointing behind Percy.

Turning around, Percy's eyes narrowed for walking in a uniform motion were the Children of Athena, with Annabeth leading the way. They were wearing their leather armor with holstering swords, shields, bows, arrows, daggers and staffs. They were ready for a fight and with the camp growing more unstable, they might get it.

Percy ran up to Annabeth. When she tried to move around him, he blocked her again and again. Sighing, she finally stopped and glared at Percy. Pulling out her black marker, she wrote on her white board around her neck.

"Move, we need to stop them." Annabeth wrote.

"Not like this. Let me find Clarisse. I want to end this without bloodshed."

Tighten the grip around the hilt of her bronze dagger, Annabeth glanced back to the other children behind her who nodded and remained still, but had hand their hands on their weapons ready to attack if necessary.

Nodding in thanks, Percy took off running. He had a feeling about where Clarisse was. He just hoped he was right.

Moment later Percy stopped running to catch his breath, but he made to where the cabins were. Walking toward the badly painted red cabin with the head of a boar on the door. Percy took a deep breath. He had never been this close to the cabin before, but he noticed how right away he wasn't welcomed by any blaring music. As he raised his hand to knock, the door opened and there stood Heather Knight. She smiled at Percy as he wrote on his whiteboard.

"Is Clarisse here?"

Heather nodded; she steps aside, letting Percy enter as she closed the door behind him. She led the way as Percy followed. Looking around, Percy imaged this place to riddled with food, glass among the debris all over the floors, unkempt books shelves, ripped up carpet couches and more. But it was the polar opposite. Everything was so neat and pristine. He didn't even see any dust particles in the air. Wow, he thought, this is a classic never judge a book by its cover moment.

The two camps to a stop at the table, sitting there with her white board laid down in front of her. Clarisse stared at the wall.

"She's been like this ever since the incident." Heather wrote.

Percy nodded before looking back at Clarisse. To see such a hot tempered strong, confident woman like her transformed into a dishevel version of herself took him by surprise. But it was like the voice told him many would see this as a curse and this was an example of it.

Unsure how to go about this, Percy sat down across from Clarisse while Heather sat beside her.

Tapping on his whiteboard, Clarisse's body jerk as if bringing her back to reality. Blinking her eyes, she laid eyes on Percy and looked over to see Heather sitting beside her. She wanted to say something before she even open her mouth to do so, but once she remembered she couldn't, she shook her head and banged her hand on the table.

Wiping off his white board with his sleeve, Percy started writing. After a few minutes, he turned the board around.

"I get it, to lose such a thing so suddenly is hard on anyone, but if you push past the pain and noticed your not the only one suffering. Your cabin mates are out there, wreaking havoc, not out of anger or hatred, but despair and fear. They don't know what to do and need your help to guild them through this troubling time."

Reading it careful Clarisse stared down at her board. She didn't know what to say. Her board was brand new ever since Heather gave it to. She hasn't touched it once. Tears trickled down her cheeks as the reality of what happen is finally sinking in.

He's right, dealing with this is hard. She would stare at the wall, wishing that one day, she could finally hear her voice again and peace would be restored. But that's not how the world works.

Wiping away her tears, she took a long deep breath, picking up her marker and popped off the cap and stared at the whiteboard. She had been a terrible leader, but it was time to push what she was feeling down deep and help the others and, who knows, it might also quell the despair in her heart as well.

Writing on her white board, she finished and turned it around, showing both Percy and Heather.

"I will try, but I can't guarantee anything. I know everyone has been acting out feeling as lost as I am. Can you help me reel them in so I can help them no longer feel as lost as I?

Both Percy and Heather nodded. Percy rose to his feet and headed to the door. Heather was about to do the same when Clarisse tug on her arm. Heather turned to Clarisse, who pointed at the whiteboard.

"I am sorry for the pain I caused you. I hope you can forgive me."

A smile spread across Heather's lips as the two shared a hug. But Heather quickly pulled away from her, holding her nose while forcing a smile upon her lips. Getting the point, Clarisse went to the bathroom to freshen up.

Outside Annabeth and the others children of Athena watched as Percy, Clarisse and Heather ran to where Chiron, Dionysus and the guards were holding the other children of Ares at bay.

Clarisse watched as her kin struggled against the teachers. Seeing their tears as they kept punching and kicking caused her to shutter.

But Heather gently laid a hand on her shoulder. Looking at her, she nodded. Clarisse looked at Percy and nodded.

Giving off a cerulean glow, Percy's lift his hand as a few barrels shook violently as they hovered above the children of Ares. The moment Percy closed his fists, the barrels busted plash water over the children of Ares. No longer struggling Chiron, Dionysus and the guards back away slowly as the children of Ares turned to Clarisse, who stood tall with her white board out for them all to see.

"Enough!" I know you are scared, angry and sad about what's going on as am I but this isn't the right way to handle those emotions come lets us go back to the cabin for, we have much to discuss,"

Clarisse turned around and lead the way while the other Children of Ares dragged their feet, looking down in shame following behind their leader. Heather bowed to Chiron, Dionysus, and the guards before following behind the others.

Grover and Annabeth joined Percy. Grover gave him a pat on the back while Annabeth nodded. The three helped the teachers and the rest of the staff work on cleaning up the camp. As Percy was throwing a broken wood into the fire, he couldn't help but think that scenes like this must be happening all over the world. They needed to fix this, but how?

Outside at the Entrance of Camp Half-Blood, Nadine looked up at the sign written in Greek. She smiled when the letters came into focus. Holding up her hand and she waved it in front of her as a blue light emulated from the entrance as if it was welcoming her.

The one like me is, worry not great one for I am sure he can help me fix all of this.

A smile spread across Nadine's lips as she entered through the doorway.
