Hush

Chapter Seven

Walking down the street of a town, Veronica guilt risen with in her. She looked upon the busted out windows of the cars and store fronts the streets and sidewalks littered with countless pieces of debris being it tons of papers, backpacks and so on. It was so much more gruesome and intense when in person. She watched as the warriors and Vincent combed over the rubble. As she moved further down the road, she stared at an odd purple mist that seem to hover over that area.

"How strange," Veronica said to herself.

She went to take a step forward, only for Vincent to pull her back. Looking back at him, she noticed how he stood in front of her while the shoulders stood in front of him with their weapons drawn. It didn't take long for Vincent to cough. He opened his mouthing gagging as he pulled out a small glowing red orb. That held a dark purple liquid. Looking at the other shoulders, they all did the same. Throwing them on the ground, he smashed the orb with his foot. Looking toward the mist, he noticed it didn't seem to move, but Vincent didn't want to take the risk and so he grab Veronica's hand and moved further away into an abandon café shop.

While some warriors monitor the mist, other set up tents in some space while using some stores as safe spots to stock on supplies. They made the café that Veronica and Vincent were at their base of operations.

Veronica remained silent as she sat across the table from Vincent, who had given a few warriors some paper work.

"I thought you and the others..." Veronica trailed off.

"Were taken over by the darkness?" Vincent finished for her.

Yeah, I saw your glowing red eyes," Veronica said.

"I wanted you too," Vincent paused. "Deep down, I knew Jeffery wasn't as what he seemed, but I needed proof so he made the darkness engulf me. I knew I needed to get you to see just how crew your counselor is."

"I have and because of my choice, I have hurt so many people."

"While I don't admit what you did was wrong, you are here trying to make things right. I respect that, as does everyone here."

"Thank you,"

Victoria looked back at the mist, curiosity and wonder filled her mind as she wondered what or who was beyond it. Vincent looked at the mist as well.

"Right now its to dangerous to advance forward we unsure what it would do to us."

"But we need to."

"And we will. Let's just wait a bit until we can research the mist a bit more."

Victoria nodded as she continued to look at the mist.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the town, Henry Annabeth and Percy were looking around the destroyed message and spa parlor for anything they could find useful. While Tina gently touched Grover's fur. Smiling uncomfortably, Grover tried to move away but, Tina followed him he even tried to shoo her, away but she still ignored him as she kept touching his, fur entranced by the feel of his fur between her fingers.

Annabeth fought to hold in a chuckle while Percy taps Henry on the shoulder and pointed in Grover's direction. Standing up, Henry sighed as he walked over to Tina. Taking a hold of her wrist, he dragged away from Grover, who smiled and nodded in thanks. Henry turned to Tina to look at him. Seeing the familiar greedy spark in her eyes, he stomped his foot.

"You are scaring the satyr now stop it." Henry said.

"His fur… the texture is so soft and relaxing that I just want to touch it all day." Tina said, her eyes sparking.

Henry leaned in close till he was just a few inches away from her face. "And I am not those things?" he asked, followed by a smirk.

Tina's eyes widen as her cheeks grew red. Smacking him in the arm, Tina looked away as Henry chuckled.

"Fine, I'll stop," Tina said as she looked at Grover. "I am sorry Grover I will keep my hands to myself.

Grover smiled and sighed.

Annabeth and Percy smiled while Nadine wandered closer to the front door. The others soon followed her as they all witness a purple mist steadily rolled through the air almost as thick as fog. Percy went to step forward, but Annabeth pulled him back. He looked back at her as she shook her head.

"She's right. We're not sure if it's safe," Henry said.

Backing up further inside, their eyes spotted a man running in the mist. He was holding his neck. His light skin now held a purplish tint. He turned to them, his eyes glowing purple. Running in their direction, he tripped over some debris in the street and fell hard on the pavement, shaving violently as the mist swirled around him. After a few moments, his eyes closed as the mist joined the rest up in the air.

Tina looked at Henry, who didn't hesitate picking up some towels. Soon everyone else looked around and did the same thing. Wrapping a few around his head cover his mouth and nose, he placed a pair of sunglasses on before handing Tina, Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Nadine a pair.

"We need to get through the mist. It would only be a matter of time before it would flow into the parlor," Henry said.

Everyone nodded.

"If that is what it does to human I don't want to know what it would do to someone like us," Tina said.

Henry remained silent as he walked out from the message polar to the others not too far behind him. Walking at a normal pace, they turned the corner. All they could do was get out of the way of the countless people running out in the streets dropping in front of them because of the effects of the mist from either shaking violently and foaming at the mouth to attacking each other. It took everything inside Percy not to rush over and help them. He wasn't sure how he could help, so all he could do was keep moving.

The five of them continued walking on in silence until Henry held up his hand, stopping everyone in their tracks. He noticed a familiar shadow moving in the mist ahead. Tina stood beside him as Henry pointed ahead. Two figures were moving toward them in the mist. Backing up slowly, the shadows emerged, revealing a man with short brown hair wearing a chef jacket holding a medium size gold ladle in either hand. The next shadow emerged, revealing a woman with long blond hair wearing a simple blue shirt with blacking jeans, white sneakers with a pair of fans in her hands. Both the man's and woman's eyes were glowing purple as the mist swirled around them.

"Oh, no… Thomas and Samantha…" Tina said.

"Now we know what happens. An Immortal is infected with the mist." Henry said.

Henry's eyes narrowed as he noticed the mist behind Samantha and Thomas looked much thicker. Which meant two things the exit was on the other side or something far more meaning be beyond this point. But he needed to be sure. Tina glanced back at Annabeth, who kicked a man running out of a store in the check, knocking him into a car. Percy kicked another to the ground as well, followed by Grover doing the same. Soon, more and more people continued running out toward them.

"Henry…" Tina said.

"Yup, a trap," Henry replied.

Thomas charged toward Henry, slapping away with his laddle Henry dodge with ease until he Samantha jumped in, kicking him in the chest stumbling backwards. Samantha went in for a punch, but Tina caught it and punched her in the face. With more and more infected humans running toward their Rear Percy and Grover were picking them off with ease. Even Nadine tripped once before hiding behind Annabeth. Everyone was doing well, but Henry realized Thomas kept trying to reach for his sunglasses while tugging on the towels wrapped around his face. He glanced to Tina to see Samantha and her in a tug-of-war battle of pulling off her towels same goes for Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Nadine. This wasn't good. They needed to get out of here now.

Henry's aura flared up as he kicked Thomas back. He then pushed Samantha off, Tina, who wrapped tighten the towel around her face. Tina looked back at Henry, who pulled off his towels and thought about his sunglasses on the ground. Tina shook her head, but all he Henry did was smile, his eyes filled with sadness. Turning around Henry took a deep breath and held out his arms on either side of his and when he exhaled brought them together sending out sonic boom that knocked Thomas and Samantha off their feet and parting the mist and much to his delight the spot ahead had no mist but people on the other side. Along with the sight of two familiar faces.

Within seconds, the path was blocked by the mist again.

"Get ready to run!" Henry shouted, followed by a cough.

Tina wanted to protest, but Henry merely shook his head as he glanced back to Percy and the others who finished the humans they were fighting. Annabeth took a hold of Nadine's hand they all nodded. He looked at Tina, who eyes were glassy, but she nodded.

Gritting his teeth as more and more mist swirled around his Henry held out his arms to his sides again. And brought them together, creating sonic booms after sonic booms parting the mist and keep Thomas and Samantha distracted. Annabeth took off first, running toward the clearing with Nadine keeping up with her. Grover and Percy were next. Tina hesitated for a moment before running over to Thomas and Samantha, still on the ground dragging them.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the mist, the moment the mist split in half and people were running out, they were pulling them to safety.

"People coming out of the mist!" One warrior shouted.

Victoria and Vincent ran toward the warriors, helping the people out. Within moments, out came two people with towels wrapped around their heads and sunglasses covering their eyes. She stopped when one of them looked right at her since the familiar presence. Her eyes twinkled.

"Child?" Victoria asked.

Nadine pulled off her glasses and towels. The person beside her moved her towel and glasses, revealing a young with brown hair, looking at her. The two of them looked back at the mist as two more people came running out. They took off their towels and glasses and reveal themselves as two men while Victoria wasn't sure who Nadine's friends were. She would have to find that out later.

The mist was thinning out but a person dragging two people behind her was talking too long to reach them, so without thinking Victoria held her breath, picked up Nadine's sunglasses and ran into help. Dragging one of the people, both Victoria and the other woman pulled the two people to safety.

Once they were in the clearing, Victoria looked down at the two people swarming on the ground.

"Thomas… Samantha.." Victoria looked at the woman she helped, who removed her towels and sunglasses. "Tina…"

Tina looked at her for a moment before looking back through the gap of the mist at Henry, who looked back at her as the gap closed.

Vincent grew closer to both Tina and Victoria as the mist was growing smaller and smaller as screams echoed within the mist. Soon it was no longer a cloud as it swirled around Henry more and more until all the mist was gone, leaving Henry standing there alone with countless bodies by his feet.

Tina went to take a step forward, but Victoria wrapped her wrist and pulled her back. When she tried to get free, but Victoria shook her head.

"Let me go," Tina protest.

"No… something isn't right," Victoria said, staring at Henry.

"I'm afraid she is right."

Tina looked up at Henry, who turned to face them, his once brown eyes now glowing purple with a sinister smirk across his lips as his aura changed from brown to purple as he roared.

Tina pulled her hand away from Victoria as she wiped away a few tears before opening her mouth.

"Oh Henry.."
