A/N: Okay, so I actually had four chapters written on my laptop. I've just been bad about posting them... *hangs head in shame*
Chapter 5
After Hermione left the library, Theo didn't stick around. To say that the conversation could have gone better was probably the understatement of the century. His trip back down to the Slytherin common room took twice as long, since Theo was trying to avoid any other students, and trying not to leave a trail of blood from his nose.
When he finally made it back to the common room, Pansy and Draco were sitting in the common room with Blaise Zabini, and Daphne Greengrass. When Theo entered the common room, Daphne looked up and gasped in horror at his face. She got up and ran over to Theo, pulling her wand out from her dress pocket, and when she reached him waved it in front of his face. "Episkey!" She muttered, and Theo felt his nose straighten out, and the blood stop coming down.
"What on earth happened?" Daphne asked, grabbing his arm and leading him to the sofa.
Pansy smirked. "I think I know." She said in a sing-song voice.
Theo glared at her. "Shut up, Pansy."
Zabini looked between the two. "What's she talking about Theo?"
Draco grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket. "You spoke with her I take it?"
Theo took the handkerchief gratefully, and nodded his head. "She didn't take it very well."
"Who didn't take what very well?" Daphne asked exasperatedly.
"Granger didn't take the news that she's Theo's sister well." Pansy said smugly.
Daphne gasped, and Theo looked at Pansy with murderous eyes.
"Well, fuck." Zabini said. "I thought your sister was dead?"
Daphne slapped Blaise on the back of the head. "Insensitive much?" She asked sarcastically.
Blaise rubbed the back of his head. "What? We all grew up knowing that Theo's sister was dead, and now he's telling us that she might be Hermione 'I'm the Smartest Person in the whole bloody world' Granger."
"I want to be very clear that I didn't say a damn thing." Theo pointed out bitterly. "I didn't want any of this getting out without confirming things first."
"Well then you shouldn't have told Pansy." Blaise pointed out, ducking his head down to avoid Daphne's hand again.
Daphne glared at Pansy and Blaise, then turned her gaze on Theo, her face softening. "How did all this happen?"
Theo sighed. "It all started on my birthday. I got the marriage contract our fathers signed before she was born."
"Hang on, what marriage contract?" Blaise interrupted.
"The one my dad signed to tie the Nott and Malfoy families together apparently." Draco answered sullenly.
Daphne looked at Draco wide-eyed.
"Anyways," Theo continued. "Pansy made the observation that I wouldn't have gotten the contract if she really were dead. We spent all of last week trying to figure out who she is, and if she really was still alive."
Theo took a breath. "Pansy suggested that we ask the only other living creature present at our birth if she was really dead. And Mipsy confirmed that not only was she still alive, but that my mother had named her." He said bitterly. "She named her Hermione."
Daphne's jaw had dropped. Blaise was surprisingly, speechless. Only Pansy had anything to say. "Thank you Theo for giving me the credit for my brilliance I deserve."
"Shut up Pansy." Draco growled.
Daphne held up her hand to stop a potential argument. Looking at Theo, she asked, "So how does this equal a broken nose?"
Theo looked up at the ceiling. "I've been trying to get up the courage to talk to her for the last week, and I was in the library, trying to talk myself into actually asking her about things, when she confronted me. I didn't exactly break things to her very well, and well, she punched me."
Blaise snorted. "I do have to ask, what is with your sister and punching people in the face? I mean, she got you today, and Draco in third year. She seems to have a thing for that," he pointed out.
Theo looked at Draco. "I didn't exactly get a chance to tell her everything."
"What the hell do you mean?" Draco asked, color draining from his already pale face.
"She got upset and ran before I could tell her that you two are technically engaged." Theo answered.
Any remaining color in Draco's face drained. "Forget about broken noses, she's going to kill me!"
It had been almost three weeks since Theo had confronted Hermione about the possibility of her being his sister. He'd done as she'd asked and stayed away from her, at least for the time being while giving her the space to calm down. She'd been pointedly ignoring him, refusing to even look in his direction. Her red-haired friend hadn't been ignoring him though.
Theo was pretty sure that the Weaslette knew about the conversation he'd tried to have with Hermione. While he'd been planning on giving Hermione some space for the time being, the youngest Weasley was certainly making it easier for him to steer clear of his maybe sister. Although, whether she was aware or not, her death glares were sort of confirming Theo's suspicions that Hermione was probably his sister.
With that being said, he was starting to get extremely frustrated. He really needed to talk to her again, but he was wary of getting injured by Hermione again, or dealing with whatever punishment Weasley decided to send his way.
They were in Defense Against the Dark Arts when Theo finally got his chance to interact with Hermione again.
"Now!" Said Professor Lupin, who had been asked to come back and teach after the war. "We've been talking theory for long enough. I think it is about time that we put those wands to use, and practice what we've been talking about the last two months. I'm going to assign partners to each of you."
Theo crossed his fingers. 'Please don't pair me with Hermione. PLEASE don't pair me with Hermione.'
"Mr. Nott, I'm going to have you partner with Miss Granger." Professor Lupin announced.
Blaise snickered next to him, and Draco let out a low sigh of relief from behind him.
Theo looked over at Hermione, and saw her whispering furiously with she-Weasel. After a moment, the red head threw her hand up in the air. "Professor Lupin?"
Remus turned to look at her. "Yes Ginny?"
She looked over at her friend and then looked back to Professor Lupin. "Is it alright if Nott and I switch partners? I'd be much more comfortable working with Hermione." She asked.
Professor Lupin shook his head. "I'm sorry Ginny, but I'm not allowing the switch of partners today. I am assigning the partners this way for a reason."
After all the partners had been assigned, everyone split themselves on opposite sides of the room, and waited for Remus to let them know they could begin. Theo felt a small sense of dread building in his stomach as he watched Hermione twirl her wand between her fingers.
"GO!"
Theo hadn't had time to throw up a shield charm, when before he knew it, he'd been thrown off his feet and into the wall. He groaned, and lifted his head to look at Hermione.
"What the-" he started, when all of a sudden, it felt as though there were about fifty hands tickling him. Eventually he was able to get himself together just long enough to send a jelly legs jinx at Hermione. She swiftly deflected the jinx, and threw another hex his way.
He'd spent the next five minutes trying to deflect Hermione's spells, during which time the other students had stopped dueling and were watching Hermione go after Theo. Finally, Remus seemed to have realized that they not so much as dueling, as much as it was Hermione throwing every spell she could think of at Theo, while Theo did his best to shield himself from the worst of them.
"Alright, that's going to be enough Miss Granger." Remus said.
But Hermione didn't stop. She continued throwing hexes at Theo.
"Hermione!" Remus shouted. "That is enough!"
Hermione pointed her wand at Theo and shouted "Locomotor Wibbly!"
After throwing the Jelly legs Jinx at him, she fled the room.
"Finite Incantatum." Professor Lupin said, pointing his wand at Theo's legs. "Are you al-"
But Theo was already running after Hermione.
