Hush

Chapter Nine

Thunder roared as lightning lit up the sky. But the rain refuses to fall. Nadine looked up at the torn gray sky before looking back at the others fighting. She wanted to help, but how could she?

Looking down at Samantha and Thomas, she sighed, for all she could do was stay by their sides, but deep down, she wished she could do more.

"Focus, tell me, what do you want to do?"

Nadine's eyes widen mind flash back to a conversation Victoria had with her when she was a little girl.

Hey were sitting by a lake watching the fish floating down the stream. Victoria could pick one up with ease while Nadine tried to do the same, but the fish swam away. Nadine lowers her head.

"Close your eyes and focus on what you want to do and do it." So tell me, child, what do you want to do?"

Jerking back to the present with a peel of thunder, Nadine looked down at her hands. They seemed to give off a pink glow.

"So tell me, child, what do you want to do?"

Closing her eyes, Nadine took a deep breath as the pink glow her hands were giving off grew brighter and brighter.

"I want to help my friends save the world.

"Then do it."

Nadine's eyes widen snapped open as a pink glow lined her body. Laying one hand on Thomas' head and the other on .Samantha's, the two shook violently, as did Nadine. After a few moments, a pink light shot up into the sky. Nadine closed her eyes and fell backwards.

"I did it,"

Annabeth and Grover charged forward, with Tina following behind them. Henry put his hand hands up, blocking Annabeth's and Grovers while Tina punched him in the stomach hard, leading to more mist escaping from him. He stumbled backwards, but not before pushing both Annabeth and Grover to the ground. Tina held up her hands as Henry let out another roar. She felt the blast knock her back, then off her feet as she landed on her back.

Henry froze, growling as he looked at the pink light shooting up into the sky. Wincing, Tina noticed it too, along with Annabeth and Grover.

"What is that? Annabeth said.

Tina smiled, "Nadine,"

Henry looked at Tina, who looked back at her. She still struggled to get off the ground as he charged toward her. Annabeth and Grover ran toward Henry, but he was much faster.

Tina tried to turn over, but she couldn't. Her body was just too sore. Breathing hard, she balled up her fist. She may be flat on her back, but she wouldn't give up with a fight.

Just as Henry was about to attack Tina, a pair of feet stood in front of her as she felt herself being lifted off the ground and back on her feet.

A smile form across her lips as the smell of lavender reached her nose. Tina looked up at the back of her. A man with short light brown hair keeping Henry at Bay. Kicking him back, two medium size laddles appeared in the man's hands.

Glancing back at Tina with toes sparking blue eyes, he smiled before charging at Henry.

"Thomas…" Tina whispered.

Looking at the person beside her with blond hair and green eyes, she smiled.

"Samantha,"

The woman smiled.

"Hey girl," Samantha said.

Thomas and Henry met blow for blow between a bo staff and double ladles. But when Henry went to push forward, Annabeth and Grover slid on the ground. With one swift kick from Grover and another from Annabeth, Henry was knocked on his feet. Annabeth followed up with a kick to the stomach, letting more mist escape from Henry's lips.

Annabeth held one leg, while Grover held the other, leaving Thomas to push down on his chest. Tina and Samantha joined him. Balling up her fist, Thomas moved out of the way as Tina another punch to Henry's stomach. While a bit more mist came out, it wasn't enough.

"This is taking too long," Annabeth said, forcing Henry's legs down.

"At this rate, it will take years," Grover said.

"I have an idea, but it's going to hurt," Samantha said.

Before another word could be said, a huge purple light formed around Henry. Within moments he screamed the energy exploded, knocking everyone in the air. The moment the light disappeared, Annabeth rolled off Grover as they helped each other to their feet. Samantha and Thomas did the same. They looked back at Tina, who was already up. Tina clenched her fists as a yellow aura outlined her body. Thomas looked at Samantha and they both nodded. Looking back at Henry, whose purple aura was shining, was also creating a massive wind tunnel.

"Hey you two, can you make it over here?" Samantha said.

Annabeth and Grover held on to each other as they moved sideways until reaching the woman with blond hair.

"I am Annabeth and this is Grover," Annabeth said.

"Samantha," the blond said, painting to her self. Then she pointed to the man beside her. "Thomas,"

"Grab hold," Thomas said. Holding out his hand.

Annabeth nodded, taking Samantha's hand while Grover took a hold of Thomas's

"We need to hold the line until Tina is ready," Samantha said.

Henry's aura grew more and more than the window tunnel contained to pulling them in. Annabeth and Grover looked behind them as Tina's eyes were glowing, matching the same color as her aura. Putting her hands together, she growled.

Henry's power grew as Thomas' and Samantha's were no match. Annabeth eyes grew wide as she felt light, and within moments she was floating toward Henry. Samantha did her best to pull her in, but she was also being pulled in herself.

Letting go, Thomas formed back into his hands, his aura flaring. He jumped in the air, hitting Henry on the head. But he came in contact with his aura as he slowly cut the thought. Samantha pulled Annabeth back. She pulled her out of the way as Tina charged past; then stretching out her hands that were balled up into fist with a yellow aura glowing aiming for his stomach.

"Hit the deck!" Samantha yelled.

Samantha, Grover and Annabeth drop to the ground. For the moment Tina connected Henry's stomach. A vast light engulfs the entire area.

When the light disappeared, buildings that once stood were now in rubble cars were nothing but shells and there was an enormous crater where Henry lay in the center.

Thomas laid on his back beside Samantha, Annabeth, and Grover.

Shaking her head, Samantha stood up first. She helped Grover and Annabeth up. Looking over at Thomas, she sighed.

"Told you it would hurt,"

"Could you check on Nadine?" Samantha said, pointing to where still stood.

Annabeth and Grover nodded and ran in that direction. Samantha looked over at Thomas, who raised his hand with a thumbs up. Samantha walked over to the crater where Henry laid with his eyes closed.

"You okay their sleeping beauty?" Samantha said, kicking Henry's foot.

"Ow," Henry said.

"Glad to have you back,"

"Thank for the save,"

"Oh, that wasn't me, that was all, Tina."

Henry force himself to sit up only for a hand to push him back down. He glanced over at Tina, who was lying beside him.

"Rest silly," Tina said, wincing.

Henry smiled. Samantha looked away as Annabeth and Grover returned, holding Nadine. Walking over to them, Samantha bent down and smiled as she bent down. While she noticed her pale complexion, she was glad to hear her little snores.

"You did good, little one," Samantha said.

"Her power is amazing." Annabeth said.

Samantha nodded as she stood up.

"Yeah, she almost ready,"

"For what?" Grover said.

Samantha smiled, biting her lip. "Oops, not my place to say, but you two should rest up."

Grover and Annabeth sat down beside Nadine while Samantha sat down beside Thomas.

Samantha looked up at the sky sighing, she yearns to see the blue sky again and feel the sun's warmth. Perhaps when this was all over, she would finally see the sun again. As for right now, it was time to rest for like it or not, the real battle was about to begin and Veronica was going to need all the help she can get.
