Things have been super crazy around here lately so I haven't had much time to work on this chapter. Luckily I had it halfway done before things started getting crazy.
My mom, two younger brothers, and my stepdad all got Covid, they're all okay now but that was just the start of the crazy.
Anyways onto the reviews.
Cyan-Snake chapter 2. Sep 20
I KNOW she's just a kid, but why couldn't she just stay invisible if she didn't want to be caught?
Me: It wasn't that she didn't want to be caught, it's more than she didn't want anyone to connect ghost her with human her. That and she was scared of going up against someone with a gun and just copied what she thought Danny would do.
PikaMew1288 chapter 1 . Sep 22
This Chapter makes me wonder about an AU of Canon where both Danny and Sam went into the Portal together or when Desiree somehow took Danny's Powers, Sam took that Chance to join him in the Portal. It would also make it interesting if the reason that Dani is female is because Vlad used Sam's DNA to help stabilize her making her genetically the child of Danny and Sam.
Me: There actually is a story kind of like this! It's called "Daughter of a Phantom." I don't want to spoil anything but I highly recommend the story if you want some good Danny/Dani father/daughter relationship. There's a sequel called "Mother of a phantom." They're both by "The Storymaster1000" I haven't read the sequel but I've been meaning to!
!
Now, into the story before I ran about this awesome story some more!
After Crystal told Dudley about what happened to her when they were in Amity Park, he started helping her. He helped her hide her powers on the rare instance where they flickered. One time Crystal had been cooking when she started sinking through the floor, she had been super tired so didn't have as tight of control over her powers as she normally did. The second Crystal noticed she started pulling herself up and heard Dudley distracting his mom from going into the kitchen to check on her.
Turns out he had glanced in the kitchen and noticed what was happening, and he realized that he needed to provide a quick distraction. It was only luck that he had noticed when he did and that no one else noticed as well.
Unfortunately, She had been so distracted with learning how to control and fight with her powers that she forgot to perform poorly in school which meant she got a good report card for the first time since primary school. Uncle Vernon had been furious saying she must have used her "freakiness" to outperform his son.
Dudley hadn't been able to stop Vernon from beating her but he had been able to tell make the adult Dursleys think Dudley had ordered Crystal to study hard and get good grades so she could help him get better grades.
When asked why that meant she would need good grades Dudley replied that if any teachers caught on to her teaching him, they would wonder why Crystal was holding back if she was smart enough to teach another person. He didn't want the teachers to get suspicious so that meant she needed good grades to tutor him.
Petunia had said they could get him a better tutor but Dudley refused and said he didn't want to waste money when he had a perfectly good tutor in his cousin who would do it for free.
The thought of saving money while at the same time having their darling little boy become better than he already was, was too much for them to pass up. Vernon said that she had to keep her grades high and tutor Dudley after school every day for an hour or else she would be punished.
Both Crystal and Dudley were shocked that the lie had actually worked, after that she made sure to get good grades and help her cousin with his homework. She found ways to explain it so he understood what he was learning. Turns out him not doing good in school was just because the teachers explained things in a way that didn't make sense to him, Crystal made sure to fix that during their tutoring sessions.
Soon enough Dudley's grades started shooting up until he was firmly a B+ or rarely an A- student. Everyone was proud of him, especially Crystal because she knew how hard he worked to get to that point.
His parents threw a party the first time he got a B+ on his report card and they even let Crystal attend and have some of the food! Probably because Dudley asked and explained that if it wasn't for her explaining things to him in a way he could understand he would never have gotten this good of a grade.
While this was going on the two children also started working out in the woods nearby, the same place she used to train her powers before. The two of them worked on endurance and strength. They knew they couldn't do any serious workouts or else they would harm their bodies, but they could still run around in the woods until they got tired every day to help their energy levels.
Dudley even started losing some weight, something his mom noticed and got concerned over until he admitted he didn't like not being able to play with the other kids because he kept losing his breath so he'd been running around to lose the extra weight.
Crystal spent some time every other night flying around and stopping some petty crimes like muggings and the like. She was in the news at least once every few weeks and each time the adult Dursleys would start ranting and saying rude things about the "Ghost girl."
She made sure to be careful but once or twice she did get nicked by a knife and had to make sure the cut was wrapped up and hidden from Vernon and Petunia. Dudley made sure to get a hidden supply of bandages for these occasions.
She also made sure to keep up to date with what was going on with Danny, Sam, and Tucker. She was very shocked and baffled at some of the stories they told her.
She was shocked to learn she and Danny weren't the only half-ghosts out there, turns out Danny's parent's old college buddy had been in an accident with the first version of the ghost portal and got a face full of ectoplasm. He wanted to kill Jack, marry Maddie and make Danny his evil son.
Luckily, he had no clue Crytal existed, and if he did know of the ghost-fighting crime in England he had no clue that she was like him and Danny.
None of them wanted to know what he would do if he found out there was a half-ghost child with abusive guardians he could try and get custody of or kidnap if that didn't work.
Crystal shuddered at the thought of that fruitloop being in charge of her, she preferred the Dursleys because at least they weren't evil or want to take over the world and kill someone just to marry his wife.
It's been several months, going on a year since she got her powers and her life has changed for the better thanks to them. She's grown a few inches thanks to being able to sneak better food and she no longer has to hold back in school. Now she was required to get good grades!
This meant she could now do her homework without Vernon or Petunia getting mad and punishing her. She could also spend some free time in the library studying. Crystal didn't know it but she was starting to study things high schoolers learned in school. All because she was bored and wanted to learn more than her school was teaching her.
Right now she was flying high above London, she loved the view of Big Ben from there. Tonight Crystal was just going to fly around, she wouldn't go looking for trouble this time.
She laughed as she let herself free-fall down, right before she would have hit the ground she used her powers to start flying with a wide smile. She's done this several times before so people were starting to get used to seeing a glowing girl falling towards the ground. She was pretty sure she almost gave people heart attacks each time she did this though.
She flew throughout the city with a wide smile before perching on top of one of the houses. "Ah, now that's fun." Crystal looked out over the city and was just about to fly home when a green portal appeared on a sign next to her and a ghost came out before the portal went away.
The ghost looked like she was a few years older than Danny, maybe eighteen years old. She had super pale, grey-looking skin and flaming cyan hair. She wore a black crop top with only one strap that was on her shoulder. She had black skinny jeans on, a silver spiky belt, and some silver boots.
She had a few earrings and her eyes were neon green with black eyeliner and purple lipstick. She was holding a purple and blue guitar and was looking around with a smirk.
"London, it looks so boring. Full of stuck up oldies, they need to learn what it means to have fun and soon everyone in this country will be screaming my name."
"Um, excuse me?" Crystal thought this would be a good time to speak up, she was shocked that she was meeting a real full ghost. Unlike Danny, she never met a full ghost, the only ghostly person she knew was Danny and herself.
The girl spun to look at Crystal and glared, "Who are you?"
"I'm um Saphfire?" Crystal said hesitantly, she didn't want to use her real name as a ghost. She refused to let anyone, human or ghost, figure out who she was through her name.
The girl raised a thin eyebrow, "Is that your real name pip-squeak?" Crystal just shrugged in response. "What's your name miss?" The girl made a face at being called Miss.
"I'm Ember McLain, and I'm the best rockstar there ever was or will be! No one will forget my name when it's on everyone's tongue!"
Crystal slowly nodded acting as if she understood. "It's nice to meet you Ember, are you going to do a concert?"
"Why yes, I-" Just then she was cut off by a scream, and Crystal was off like a bullet, shooting towards the screams not realizing Ember was following her surprised.
Ember watched as this young ghost quickly got to where the scream came from and started taking care of the man attacking a child. She was surprised and impressed that it only took this pipsqueak a few seconds to take care of the jerk.
Crystal made sure the child found his parents before flying off toward the woods.
"Hey Pipsqueak!" She turned to see Ember flying up to her with a smirk. "Good job, why'd you do that though?"
"Because, no one deserves to be hurt! They deserve to be safe and sound." Crystal didn't know but her face and eyes turned sad as she spoke, and trailed off thinking of her own pain no one was saving her from.
Sure, Dudley had changed but he was just a kid like her. He couldn't do anything to stop his parents from beating her and throwing her into her cupboard under the stairs. He tried his best and managed to make it so she could get good grades but he couldn't keep her safe from his father.
He couldn't make his parents treat her better, give her food, her own room, her own clothes, or make them stop hurting her at all.
What Dudley and Crystal needed was an adult that could get them out of that place and into a healthy loving home.
"eak! Pipsqueak snap out of it!" Crystal heard someone talking to her before she felt a hand touch her shoulder and she flinched away without thinking before flying away as fast as she could.
Ember stared after the ghost child with her hand still outstretched from touching her shoulder. That was not normal, just what kind of life did that kid have before she died?
Wait, She was a kid and it didn't seem like they died from sickness so how did she die? It was rude to ask another ghost how they died so Ember couldn't do that but she was concerned. It looked like this kid had been amused in life and still had trouble dealing with it.
. . . . Wait, when did this ghost die? Ember had never heard of a ghost child named Saphfire before.
