Chapter Six: Bonds of Friends and Family

It's been a month since Ritche and Brandon reunited with their aunt and uncle. Since then, Divinus Magia has continued to grow. With the Addition of the Diabolus brother's cousin and her parents the guild grew to be more productive.

Marcelina joined her mother in providing magic counseling, having gone back to college to get her degree in the subject. Since it wasn't too different from what she did back in Horedora in her home kingdom of Kacuria, then eventually once she married her husband his home kingdom of Salode she was able to pass a test that allowed her to pass a few classes without taking them.

Her husband on the other hand acted as an advisor to Ritche and Brandon in guild leadership. While they didn't have guilds back in Horedora he was a duke and eventually second in command of the resistance so there for he was qualified for the role.

Has for Natalie, she actually joined the guild, Marcelina and Drake also joined the guild has honorary members. Due to the lack of control over her new powers she had, she was assigned the rank of D and was training under the care of her cousins. Under their tutelage she was quickly gaining a better understanding of what it meant to be a devil slayer. There were actually talks between the family that if she continued to show this much progress, she would become a second in command and fill in for Ritche or Brandon in the event that one of them weren't able to attend.

Meanwhile, the rest of the guild was making progress on the amount of quest they had and they also continued to work on the garden. In the time since the garden had been first started it had grown to take up a decent area of the island. Most of the island was still green with trees but the garden still took up small area of the island.

Overall life for Divinus Magia had gotten easier since the day that they started. Thanks to their guild leaders friendship with the royal guild leaders and the many dark guild contacts they had they have been able to maintain a close watch over the kingdom that would rival the royal peacekeepers.

The royal peacekeepers were a division of the royal guard that were responsible for collecting information about the quality of life of the citizens of the kingdom, currant events and how they were impacting the citizens, and public opinion. This data was used to make the daily reports that the kingdom's royal family and other leaders heard daily and used to make decisions for the kingdom people. At times also helped prepare and the kingdom's towns for town meetings on the rare occasions that one was called and helped run them when needed.

With that in mind, Today was another normal day at the guild. Ritche and Brandon were in their office with their uncle discussing future plans for the guild, their aunt was at one of her college classes to get her Magic Counseling degree, Mario was training, David was gardening, Zaro was drinking at the bar, Rosea was at the quest board and Natalie was at magic counseling with Mrs. P.

Looking closely at the five quest on the board she chose the one that was in the center of the board. However, when she looked, she saw that this quest need approval to go on. Looking at the quest board one last time she decided that this was the one she wanted and made her way to the office of her bosses.

The Diabolus twins continued doing their paperwork with their uncle ready to provide advice should it be needed while doing some paper work of his own unaware that one of their guild members had a quest for them to approve. That was until the guild leaders heard the sound of their office door opening. Walking up to the desk she showed them the quest. "Hey Ritche and Brandon, I was at the A rank board and saw this quest that I'd like to go on. It needs to be approved before I take it. If you have the time, could you please approve it for me?"

"Sure, let me have a look at his." Brandon smiled while taking the quest from the A rank wizard.

Objective(s):

Take down the Dark Strom guild and take has many of their members into custody has possible.

Recuse has many civilians from the dark guild has possible.

Description of Quest: Our town has been plagued by a Dark Guild that has been attacking the town for unknown reasons. They mainly attack foster homes and other child care places and schools. All local guilds we sent have failed to take them down even losing guild members in the process. Please take down the dark guild in question. More information will be provided upon arrival.

Notes for Guild member:

Recommended that a SS rank mage accompanies guild member on this quest.

Recommend that the guild member brings guild with them

Assistance from the towns royal guards will be provided by mayor

Updates:

Civilians, mainly children have been confirmed to be held captive by Dark Storm. The purpose of this is known as of this update though it's believed to be a means of keeping the town guard away from their guildhall.

Civilians that managed to escape report over hearing the members of Dark Storm were planning some sort of experiment. Subsequent questioning by the local guilds revealed that the dark guild in question is experimenting with lacrimas. The details of these experiments are also unknown.

Some of the escaped Prisoners mentioned sightings of the missing princess of Minecraftia, Princess Leah Pierceton of Minecraftia. Subsequent recuse attempts of the remaining civilians revealed this to be possibly true but remains unconfirmed. It is unknown if this relates to the experiments the dark guild in question is performing.

Brandon frowned at the quest he had been handed. The quest had been bumped up to SS due to the fact that a royal was now involved. In fact, they may also have to turn this quest over to a royal guild if they messed things up. Turning to his brother Brandon let Ritchie see the quest for himself. Ritchie mirrored their brother's actions nodded at Brandon's unasked question.

A few moments later all the members of the guild that took quest were in the office. "I'm sure you're wondering why you are all here. Rosea found a quest on the A ranked board that she wanted to take, however the quest in question was bumped up to SS rank and the quest giver recommend an entire guild be sent to take on this quest. We will be departing in an hour so get ready. Also, we might be there for a while so pack multiple set of combat ready clothing for the trip. Make sure that your mana reserves are at full stock has well. The dark guild that we are facing is known to be extremely powerful. Anyone who has a weapon should make sure that your weapon is ready and in prime condition has well." Ritchie explained to the guild.

Soon enough, the guild had arrived at the city of Celeri. They quickly made their way to the city hall to speak to the mayor. Ritche and Brandon entered the city hall and spoke to the mayor before coming back out and addressing the guild once more.

"Alright Divinus Magia, the guild we've been sent out to deal with is in the Caeruleum district in Glacies meadows. I want everyone to stay together while we're on this quest. The dark guild we're about to face is very well known and dangerous. There is also a possibility that there is a royal being held hostage by them so be sure to be on your best behavior." Ritchie ordered has they made their way to the district in question.

The district was one that Ritche and Brandon had been to a couple times both during their time in mandatory guild service and their time has guild leaders. Normally this district was a peaceful place for children both young and teenagers could come and enjoy themselves. Many foster homes, orphanages and childcare centers lined the streets along with several other businesses and family homes that lived in the area.

However, now this district wasn't the safe haven it once was. Many of the foster homes had broken windows and orphanages and schools were boarded up with guards nearby ready to attack at the sight of one of the dark guild members.

The guild made their way through the streets with care, constantly checking their surroundings to ensure that if a member of Dark Strom was near, they'd be able to attack on sight. Dark Strom was well known for its attacks on those who walked the streets after all. Soon enough they found the place that Dark Strom was rumored to be hiding out in. An old abandoned building on the edge of the district borders. Near a district well known to have a crime problem. Ritche and Brandon had been in that district sometimes themself.

After a bit of discussion, it was decided that Mario would be the first to go in. His job would be to locate the civilians that Dark Strom had captured and figure out the safest way to get them out. Rosea on the other hand had a similar task in the form of gathering information about the members of the guild. Afterall, they needed to know what they are about there were up against if they were going to be able to get the most people out have possible.

After a week of information gathering, they were ready to make their move. Ritche and Brandon had went to the city hall and had him tell the civilians to prepare for a storm. You see, the plan that they developed to take down Dark Strom required the guild leaders to use enough of their power to cause a storm. Their job was to bring the bulk of the guild members to the front while the rest of the guild was split into two groups.

Group one was in charge of attacking the civilians. They would take them through the back and would then take them to the nearby park that would be filled with doctors and other first responders. They hoped that if they acted quick enough that things would go well, and they wouldn't expect it.

With that in mind Ritche and Brandon were now in position a ready to start when their guildmates sent their signals. It wasn't long until it was time and the storm started. Just as they planed many dark guildmembers came out to fight them due to them being the Diabolus brothers. Since their dark guild days, they had become a force to be fear amongst the dark guilds. This made the dark guild members give everything they had to try and hold back the twins but to no avail.

Meanwhile the rest of Divinus Magia were doing their task in the main building of the guildhall. It was going smoothly, as the dark guildmembers were not quite has strong has the dark guildmembers that Ritche and Brandon were fighting at the time. Natalie was escorting some civilians out when he heard a thump in one of the walls. Telling the civilian to follow the way out he went to investigate.

Feeling along the wall she quickly realized that there was an illusion. Ritche and Brandon had taught her about what kinds of magic there were in this world. Has a devil slayer, it was important that she was aware of how different kinds of magic could affect hers. For example, Ritche's magic, despite it also being devil slayer could affect hers because of it being lighting and water conducting electricity. Therefore, it would hurt more if she got hit by his magic.

Easily seeing past the illusion, she dispelled it and found the door behind it. The door was locked but she was able to make it through by picking the lock. She had to do this many times when she was young, having grown up as a part of the resistance movement in her home kingdom. Mainly to help the resistance make a quick escape when needed. She had been taught to do this for when she was made a field agent. She was for one for about two years before she and her family ended up here in Atlantide.

With that in mind, it was easy for her to get through the door. There she found two girls and one man. The first one she found was a young girl with medium length straight but tangled hair. Her closes looked expensive but were tourn up. She appeared to be about ten years of age. The second one was the one that she recognized. She had purple hair, blue eyes and a tattered white dress. She was unconscious.

"Cousin Amira?!" Natalie shouted in shock. She ran over to her and called Rosea. She, unlike the other members of the guild had a healing spell. She could help. But… the scenes coming from Amira. It far to alike what the dark guild forced into her prior to her joining Divinus Magia.

"She's your cousin?" The other girl asked with a frown. Natalie nodded having called Rosea to come and help them. Afterall, out of all the guild she was the only one who had healing spells in her arsenal in Divinus Magia. Though she admittedly was working on one herself she hadn't mange to get it down to a point where she could use it and have actual results. Right now, all she could heal were simple small skin cuts what weren't bad enough that the bled.

"They put a lacriama in her. I don't know what kind. But she need help, she too young to have such a thing forced into her." The girl replied with a sad frown. Natalie nodded in agreement and lead the girl out from the room, holding her younger cousin in her arms. She then realized that she never got the girl's name or gave hers.

"I just realized that I haven't introduced myself. My name is Natalie Diabolus, I'm a water devil slayer and a guild member of Divinus Magia. What's your name?" Natalie asked with a smile.

"I'm Princess Leah Pierceton of Minecarftia." The young blond hair girl revealed. Natalie recalled her cousins mentioning that there were rumors of a royal being held captive here. Remembering what Ritche and Brandon had taught her and her parents about life in Atlantide she gave a slight bow before straightening up again.

"It's nice to meet you your highness, may I escort you to my guild leaders so they may be informed of your presence here?" she asked formally. Leah nodded and they made their way out. Rosea was waiting with Ritche and Brandon. Natalie had sent word to them about what had happened and thankfully they had finished their guys, so they were ready to help.

Ritche and Brandon immediately ran over to their cousin who saw the young girl in their arms. "This is the girl?" Ritchie asked with a frown. Natalie nodded to her cousin and handed her younger cousin to him. Ritchie and Brandon looked over the girl quickly and realized what had happened to her.

"We need to get her to a hospital now! The power of the lacriama is overwhelming her!" Brandon realized. Ritchie already got out his phone and called a hospital. Soon enough they were at Oceanus hospital. The hospital in Celeri had been overrun by the amount of patients there were so some of the more critical patients that were considered stable enough were transferred to the closest hospital which was in the capital.

Ritchie and Brandon sat with their cousin, guildmate and the princess that they recused. Natalie was pacing the hall while Rosea and the guild leaders sat and waited for news of their cousin. Natalie had called her parents to tell them what had happened.

Under Atlantide Law all medical providers who worked in hospitals were required to provide updates to the patients legal guardian's or whoever was there with them if they were in critical condition and in a location in the hospital in which only employees and patients could only enter. While the time frame for which they were required to provide updates varied from hospital to hospital the law in question normally required that the update took place within 30 minutes of the patient's entry into the room.

If they were in the room for a longer period, they had to provide more than one with a time frame of 30 minutes in between each update with the next one after the initial update being no more than 45 minutes later unless there was a good reason why they could not. Such has the patients vitals dropping rabidly or something among those lines.

With that in mind, they had only been there for twenty minutes, so they hadn't heard anything has of yet. They sat or pacing in silence when the sounds of fast paced footsteps running into the hall they sat in. They looked to see that it was Marcelina and Drake and one other person behind them. They had fear written all over the place.

"Natalie, Ritche and Brandon, have you heard anything about Amira?" Marcelina asked her children. Judging by the look on her face they knew what happened to Amira. In the months since joining the guild has honorary members, they had gotten new outfits.

Marcelina wore a dim blue dress with similar turquoise lace and a gold star necklace. Her blond hair was partially tied back in a braid, and she wore a hat with the same color scheme has her clothes. Her husband on the other hand had blue hair which faded into black. He wore a light blue shirt with purple trim, a brown belt with matching shoes and blue slacks.

Natalia smiled ran over to her mother and father. "Mother, father, we haven't heard anything yet. The doctors haven't said anything. According to Princess Leah, they forced a Lacriama into her." Darke frowned and turned to Ritche and Brandon.

"Ritche and Brandon Diabolus, remind me, the name of the type of crystal that was forced into our daughter… was the same has she just mentioned, yes?" Darke questioned his nephews with a frown. Ritche and Brandon nodded in the positive and frowned.

"Yes Father Drake, that is the type of crystal that was forced into us and cousin Natalie. However, it does not normally have the kind of reaction to someone has it did to sister Amira. Although I do not know why this is. We believe that her body is rejecting the Lacriama, however, there can be a number of reason for this. They can very on the type of Lacriama, the type of element the Lacriama is and more." Brandon explained has he knew this.

Reaper had covered lacriamas in his lessons with them during their mandatory guild service. Afterall devil slayer magic did have Lacriama involved has they housed the demon within the slayer. So, it made since that they learned about what Lacriama were and what they could do.

Just then the third person that had joined them spoke up. She was a woman in her late forties with black hair tied back into a bun with braids on the side of her head and her eyes were a light blue. She wore a dull blue dress with white embroidering on the skirt with a white dress apron and a matching dull blue headband and black shoes.

"M-mother Emelia? You're here to?" Ritchie asked with a smile. The woman smiled at the older twin.

"Yes, Ritchie, I am here now as well. Your aunt and uncle or should be mother and father found me when I was walking around the city looking for a job. I heard about Amira, I know you boys don't know her but do your best to be there for her alright?" Emelia smiled at her god children in all but name.

You see when Brandon and Ritche where children their parents mainly focused on their kingdom even in their free time. As such a nanny needed to be hired so that they could do this. Emelia just so happened to be this nanny.

The group of people waited for word from the doctors. They were joined by the rest of Divinus Magia. When they entered the hall David stopped. The woman sitting beside his guild leader looked like someone he knew well.

"M-mom?" David asked timidly. The rest of the guild looked at David in shock. Or at least most of them did. Most of the guild members had heard the story of David past, however it had only been in passing and not fully understood like Brandon and Ritchie did.
