Chapter 13 Nightmares: Xana's True Power and Secrets of the Second Entity
A.N. – So, this chapter will reveal who the second entity is. Also, we get a better fight with Xana. His true power is shown and the Lyoko Warriors finally see X. Let's begin!
Short Summary – The Lyoko Warriors wake up in a world they don't remember. They think the only way out is forwards. The only thing that stands in their way is themselves and Xana.

All they saw was darkness and all they heard was whispering. They were all able to awaken and they all awoke on a stone bridge. There was a void on each side and all they saw was Xana's 'shades' that lined the darkness.
"Where the hell are we?" Odd asked in fear.
"I don't know, but I want out" Ulrich responds.
"I think we all do" Yumi adds.
They all ran across the path and shades started to appear in front of them. They all fought them off and they came to an arena. In the middle was the eye of Xana…and standing at the top of a structure was Xana.
"Ah, the Lyoko Warriors, my highly regarded guests. Now that you are here, we can have a little chat about your fate in this world and the acquisition of yours" Xana tells them.
"A little chat? Now you want to speak to us. Why should we listen to you? You've been out to get us forever" Ulrich tells him.
"True, but if I can't kill you, the second entity will. Your time is almost at an end. And let me guess, you're nowhere near finding a way to escape."
"We got a little sidetracked, but after this is done, we'll start finding a way out" Aelita tells him.
"Can you do it fast? Once the second entity awakens, there is nothing you can do to stop its rampage."
"New version of Xana, same old broken record about the second entity" Ulrich says.
"If its so powerful, then why can't it awaken itself?" Yumi asks.
"It's power feeding entity. It needs power to reawaken. It stores power for years and when it accumulates enough, it unleashes a fury of destruction that is unstoppable until the power runs dry. But you have a bigger problem. When it reawakens this time, this whole world will be consumed. There will be nowhere to hide and nowhere to run."
"We'll fight it, and we'll win" Aelita says with determination.
"Not this time. Wake up to what's real. This isn't one of you silly Lyoko missions. One false move and you'll end up in the digital void. And your time is soon approaching."
"We'll prove it by stopping you then" Yumi tells him, readying her weapon. Her friends doing the same.
"You really think so? Well, I'm always game for a little competition, but's let even the stakes more. This will a life-or-death match. If I win, you'll all end up in the void. If you win, I'll leave this world. You won't win, but if you think you got what it takes, bring it on."
"Bring it Xana," Aelita says with a death glare in her eyes. Xana immediately teleports down to them. "He can teleport." He reappears behind Ulrich. "Ulrich, behind you."
Ulrich puts his sabers behind him to stop Xana's attack. He slowly turns around, still holding off Xana. Ulrich eventually breaks the sword lock they had. Ulrich tries to slash him, but Xana continues to dodge. He teleports again and reappears behind Odd. "Odd watch out!" Ulrich warns him.
Odd jumps behind Xana using his cat reflexes. "Laser arrow!" Xana quickly teleports away before he is hit and Ulrich blocks as the arrow comes towards him.
"Poor insolent humans. Can't work together well" Xana says with amusement. Xana hears the fans coming in. He dodges one but is hit with the second. Yumi catches them as she stands across from him.
"They may not work well together, but all four of us fight well as a team" Yumi says.
"That may be, but your still oblivious to the real point of what I'm trying to do."
"Trying to lose. Laser arrow!" Odd says as he hits Xana.
No, trying to save you. The second entity is a program I created to destroy you when you arrived in this world. The power it would accumulate would be used to destroy you. I lost control of it though. Now it will consume anyone and anything. There is nothing I, X, or you could do."
"So, all this time…" Aelita starts.
"I gave myself this form. I needed something to communicate with you and use the help of X while still being the dominant one in this world. I programmed abilities because now the situation has become something worse than we could have imagined."
"You could just be stalling us while you try to find a way to control the second entity."
"And we won't let that happen" Ulrich adds as he rushes Xana. He blocks.
"Energy field!" Aelita exclaims as she hits Xana, and he falls.
Xana teleports to the structure. "You fools don't have any idea who you're messing with! I have powers which are unknown to man! I will destroy you! Open portal!" Xana disappears through the portal.
"Let's go! He ain't getting away!" Aelita tells them as they all run up the structure and enter the portal.
Once they reappear on the other side, they find themselves in a version of hell. Xana runs away from them, and they take of in a sprint.
"Don't trip" Xana tells them as he teleports away from them. "Tell me, what matter to you guys more? Family? Friends? Life? Because it will all be gone soon. You'll die to the second entity and then I will conquer your world."
"Why don't you stop running and fight us?" Ulrich tells him.
"Oh you don't like my games. Well, let me grant your wish."
Xana teleports to Ulrich and elbows him, knocking him down. Ulrich felt like he got hit by a train. He couldn't believe the power Xana possessed. He then struggled to get up. Xana steeped on his arm almost breaking it.
"Stop trying. You can't defeat me" Xana tells him.
"Laser arrow!" Odd yells. Xana teleports away and comes up from the ground picking up Odd and then throws him into a wall. Odd's impact makes a dent in the wall. Odd slides down and feels like he got a concussion.
The girls all readied against Xana. They all try to attack him. He teleports away and they hit each other. Xana picks them both up. "You can try, but nothing will save you from my wrath. I'll end you now and put my plan in motion."
Ulrich manages to grab one of his sabers and he quickly throws it at Xana, hitting him in the back. He drops the girls, and he teleports away to the top of the structure.
"Where are you going? Do we have to chase you to find some answers. Where are we?" Aelita says.
"Ha ha ha. You're in my world now and here I…CAN'T…DIE!" Xana rains fireballs down upon them as they reach the top. "Well I hate to leave this game of ours in the middle, but the more time I waste with you, the more time I lose to win. I got a world to conquer."
"We're not leaving! You're not getting rid of us that easy" Yumi tells him.
"Oh but you are!" Xana is able to push them back into a pit surrounded by lava. They land on a bridge and Xana lands across from them.
"This ends here Xana!" Aelita says as they all rush him. He hits Aelita, and she and her friends fall into a void.
"Good night. We'll see each other soon…"
The Lyoko Warriors were now back home at the academy. Jeremy was able to rescue them, and they were able to stop Xana and the second entity. They were walking around the courtyard, all joking and having a good time.
At the far end of the academy a new shade of Xana arrived and started to head towards their location.
The Lyoko Warriors stopped at their usual spot at the vending machines. Aelita was wondering why Jeremy wasn't showing up yet.
"Anyone know where Jeremy is?" Aelita asks them.
"Einstein not here is common. Don't worry about it" Odd responds.
The shade arrives around from the corner. It hides as the Lyoko Warriors move towards it. When they turn the corner, they see it. They all gasp as it strikes them and a bright flash of white blinds them.
The four of them now awake in a hanging cell, in a room they do not know where. They all look in confusion as they all experienced the same dream state of being back home.
"Was that just a nightmare we all experienced?" Aelita asks them.
"If so, why and how did we have the same dream?" Ulrich responds.
"But why are we here? Is this our punishment because we lost to Xana?" Yumi asks, looking out of the bars into the nothingness.
"Xana said it was a life-or-death match. We should be dead" Odd comments.
"Then he is keeping us alive for a reason. Maybe for the second entity to finish us" Aelita adds.
"That still doesn't explain everything. There is more going on here. We all find X's cell, we get knocked out, end up here, and now we're in a makeshift prison cell" Ulrich comments on the events that transpired.
"Then, is this all a dream?" Yumi asks.
"Well as long as we're here, we wait for death" Aelita says with sadness as it looks as their adventure has come to an end.
"No! We're not done! Xana has always tried to put us down. This is another trick. We'll find a way out of this weird world and find our way back to Lyoko to try and escape. We've come this far and it's only right we fight to the end!" Odd encourages them as the wall explodes.
"And you're gonna need help to get out of this alive" a man on the other side responds.
"I recognize that voice. You're…" Aelita starts.
"X, yeah. I'll be your guide throughout this nightmare world."
"So wait, you're the mysterious X that has been helping or hindering us this whole time?" Ulrich asks.
"Helping mostly. But Xana betrayed me. So, I guess I'm going to help you escape. Listen, you're only seeing me because your resistance to Xana's mind games is still high. If your minds were shattered, you guys would still be in that cell."
"Well, how do we get out of here?" Yumi asks.
"Follow me and be on the lookout for Xana's shades."
They walk along the path they first arrived on, and they arrived at the arena. They encountered one of Xana's shades. They easily defeated that and X showed them the way to escape.
"This door will bring you back to your world. Well more of a way to get back to your world. Once you there, find a giant hole, jump in it and the dream will end."
"But how will we win? Xana proved what he can do" Aelita asks.
"If Xana gives you a problem in your escape, call upon me. I'm not there physically, but I can one time. Besides, I have a score to settle with Xana."
The Lyoko Warriors went through the door, and they were put inside their first base. They thought they were back, but when they exited, they saw what was like the hell they were in. They went along a path and soon came to a pit, but also with Xana there.
"So, you pathetic warriors made it out of my trap. Do you like the improvements I made to your world?" Xana asks them.
"You can't fool us. We know how to escape" Aelita tells him.
"You really don't have a clue to what's going on right now. You think just by offing yourself, you can escape?"
"Oh, but we did learn something Xana" Aelita starts.
"Do you know where we are right now?" Yumi says next.
"We are in a dream right now" Odd says next.
"And you know what us humans do in dreams?" Ulrich finishes.
"WE SOAR!" The screamed in unison as they all jumped in.
"Wait! Stop! No!" Xana cried as his shades disappeared. He jumped in after them.
The Lyoko Warriors and Xana reappeared in the mineshaft. The Lyoko Warriors tried to destroy a weakened Xana, but he was able to escape before they could defeat him.
They were all confused if all they experienced was just a dream. They entered the tunnel and found it was all blocked by obsidian.
"It wasn't a dream" Aelita says.
"The mines were all real. Xana is preparing an army" Yumi adds.
"Then that just means our time is limited. Tomorrow, we test an escape."
A.N. – And that ends the two-part chapter of Xana's and the second entity's secret. Only two chapters left! Next will be an escape method and then the final escape!
