I yawned a bit more before going back to sleep for a few more hours, hopefully I wouldn't wake up to KI again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter begins now~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
May 2nd 9:00 am, Konoha, Namikaze residence
"Mornin'" I said, waving to Sho who was making some tea, different stuff than usual
"Morning Shin, sleep well?"
"Hell no, some dude woke me up at 3 with a fuck ton of killing intent. Can you give me a cup?"
"Nope, stuffs too strong for young kids, full of caffeine."
"Give me a cup you stinker."
"Haha, fine, don't go bouncing off the walls now."
I punched him in the arm and filled up my cup with some tea, it was too bitter, so I added 2 teaspoons of sugar and sighed. "Hopefully Minato is in a better mood today."
A crash from upstairs caught our attention and we placed our cups down, jumping up the stairwell and into the open master bedroom. Minato was on the floor with a slap mark on his face while Kushina was openly shedding tears into her hands on the bed.
"Is everyone alright?" Sho asked, staying at the doorway.
"No, not everyone's alright. I… I need some time alone." Minato said, grabbing his vest off the wall and flashing from the room with a yellow glow. I waltzed into the room and brought Kushina into a hug, she hugged me back tightly, like I was her only lifesaving rope.
"What happened?"
"Obito, Obito, Obito. He-he's gone."
I sent a look at Sho and he quietly left the doorway, closing the door behind him. "What happened on the mission Kushina?"
"M-Minato, he, he left command to Kakashi so he could get some experience while he held off the Iwa forces with the other shinobi. Rin was taken and, in an attempt, to save her, Obito was killed."
"So why did you slap Minato?"
"I-I don't know, I really don't. I just needed something to be mad at, where did he go?"
"No clue, lets just move into the loungeroom so you can apologise when he gets back, alright?"
"O-okay."
"You can tell me all about some of your fun memories while we wait. Want some tea?"
"Please."
I grabbed her a mug and filled it up with tea from the pot. "Any sugar?" I called out, Kushina was huddled on the couch in a blanket while staring straight ahead. "Just one, thank you."
"No problem." I grabbed the extra cup and sat across from her, placing the cup on the coffee table. "How about you tell me some things about your past?"
"I want to hear about you first" she stated, leaving no room for argument.
"Sure! Well when I was born, both of my parents were killed, then I lived with the jinchurikii of the 8 tails since he became my guardian. When the war started, I was delegated to the 2 tails jinchurikii's family, but that didn't work out so well. After that I lived in the orphanage until January of this year, attending the academy and stuff.
During my time at the academy, some issues started popping up and I didn't want to live in the village anymore, I didn't want to be forced into a war for some place I didn't care for, so I left. I met Sho in the land of frost, then we went to the land of hot water and saved a princess, then we did some bounty work. After that, we went to the land of tea where Sho met Natio, we were planning to go to the land of grass with Miya to finish a job, but we met a squad of Konoha ninja. We fought and when I called Natio an Uzumaki, they recommended we go here, turns out they had a traitor, which ended up with the entire group being killed. Me, Sho and Natio defeated the entire camp and that's when I found out I had Uzumaki heritage, and when my hair gained this white line. That's my story so far, how about yours?"
"Hehe, your story, it was so short."
"I know right, sadly I'm not an old granny like you so I don't have many stories to tell."
"Huh?"
"Oh shit."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU LITTLE PUNK ASS BITCH?!"
"I THINK ITS TIME I LEFT!" I hopped out of the window and darted down the stairs with Kushina chasing me, her hair flying around like an octopus. "EYAAAA HELP, TOMATO LADY IS GONNA KILL ME!"
Kushina stopped chasing me for a second and I looked back at her. She started to vibrate a bit, was she, crying? Is what I thought until her face went entirely black and she looked like an eldritch demon on crack, tripling the speed she was chasing me with. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Hokage Mansion
"Jiraiya, what do you think of the curse mark?"
"I don't know sensei, but if that thing gave off as evil an aura you said it did, we might need to start keeping a closer eye on Orochimaru. He's currently going to the land of hot water, correct?"
"Yes, he is. Should we send an ANBU team to supervise him?"
"Maybe, but I think it would be better if we kept an eye on him when he is in the village. He has already started to act a bit odd as of late, but I neglected to mention it since it wasn't much different than he usually was."
"Explain, now."
"Well, he started to show interest in the blood limits of several opponents on the western front and even recovered the corpses of blood limit users and brought them into his tent. He has also been gunning for a genin team as of late, something about having a hand in raising the youth he said."
"Hmm, alright, I will take that into account. I also want you to keep an eye on the holder for the curse mark for now, he is currently staying at Kushina's."
"Lucky brat, alright I'll get going sensei. Goodbye."
"Goodbye Jiraiya."
Shinobi district, Konoha
"Phew, I think she is gone now."
"Who is?"
I turned around to see a young kid around my age, if a bit older, he had gravity defying silver hair and a mask covering his lower jaw. His headband was slanted over his left eye to cover it and he wore a navy shirt with brown straps forming a cross over his chest.
"Who are you?" I asked, there was an obvious answer and judging by the bags under his eye, along with the general redness around the area, he hadn't slept for a while and had been previously crying.
"Introduce yourself first, you are in the shinobi district after all, and you are no Konoha shinobi."
"Shin Uzumaki, a traveller."
"Uzumaki? I assume you know aunt Kushina then?"
"Yeah, she's the one I was running away from. Scary woman she is."
"I agree, she can get scary. I'm Kakashi Hatake, jonin of Konoha."
"Kakashi huh? Well, why don't you come back to Kushina's place. Since you call her aunt, I'm guessing you're on Minato's team?"
"I was, jonin aren't on any teams, and I was planning to go there anyway later to talk to sensei, so I guess I'll follow along."
"Sweet, let's go then."
I walked up the building to our right and jumped off the roof and onto another, Kakashi was following closely behind me, easily keeping up with my pace. I sped up a bit more and he caught up, I continued the cycle a few more times before we arrived at the house. I swiped some blood on the lock and walked inside, closing the door behind us on the way in.
"Yo! Anybody home?" I called out, looking up the stairwell. I heard a door open and someone walking across the boards on the 3rd story. "Yeah, I am, just got back. Do you know where Kushina went?"
Minato dropped into the living room with a soft look on his face, emotions unreadable. "She was chasing me around until I met up with Kakashi, must still be out."
"Hello Sensei."
"Sup Kakashi, how are you holding up?"
"Great! I got some rest earlier and came out to ask when our next team meeting is." An obvious lie with an obvious fake happiness. I walked into the kitchen and began to boil some water.
"Do you both want some tea?"
"Sure, I think this will be a long talk anyway." Minato responded, sitting on the couch and pointing Kakashi to the other one. They were silent for a few minutes until the kettle started to scream and I pulled it off the stove, pouring it into the teapot with some new leaves in it.
"I-I'm sorry sensei, you trusted me with the mission. I failed, I was too weak, I got cocky being a new jonin and it cost me my teammate. I'm sorry, Obito is gone, because of me."
I softly set the pot down on the table and summoned 3 cups from my inventory, filling them all up with warm tea. I sat down next to Minato and sipped quietly.
"Kakashi. It wasn't your fault for the mission. You are a perfect shinobi and very worthy of your new title, this is war Kakashi, deaths are bound to happen so you shouldn't put that pressure on yourself. You did an amazing job, taking out 3 chunin level opponents while working alone and then rescuing one of your teammates from enemy capture. You should be proud of that achievement, not down in the dumps, because if it was you in Obito's position, you would certainly have wanted us to move forward with a smile."
"I- I know he would've, but that doesn't make it easier. I know it was my fault, even if I wanted to live a perfect life, I knew death would happen around me, I prepared for that. But Obito's death was avoidable, if I was just a bit faster, a bit smarter, a bit better, I could have saved him."
"No, no you couldn't have. Even I couldn't have. Kakashi, have more faith in yourself. You are my student, Kakashi Hatake, a young prodigy who has surpassed all of my expectations, formed amazing friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime, at just 6 years old. You are Kakashi Hatake, one of the people I trust most in this world and someone I know can watch my back, and one that Obito trusted in the same way."
"I know that! I know I'm your student! Obito just didn't have to die over something as stupid as that! It was my fault, you know it deep down, you want to hate me, blame me, loathe me for killing one of your students!"
"I never said anything like that, I never felt anything like that, I never will."
"You do! I know you do!"
"I don't!"
A knocking at the door brought all of our attention to it, I got up and allowed the two of them to calm down before I opened it. A cute girl with brown hair and 2 purple marks on her face was standing outside, she was holding a basket with a red cloth over it and I recognised her as Rin Nohara, the third member of team Minato.
"U-um, is Minato sensei here?"
"Yeah, come in. Want some tea?"
"No thank you, I'll be leaving soon."
"Alright, they're in the living room." I flicked a thumb behind me and let Rin in, she moved past me and shook a little at the person opposite Minato. "K-Kakashi, how are you doing?"
"Oh, Rin, yeah, I'm fine. How are you?"
"I-I'm fine." She took my seat next to Minato and I shifted my cup to the opposite side of the table so I could grab it from next to Kakashi. "So, Rin, what brought you here?" Minato asked while she placed her basket on the table.
"I- I'll come back later. You two finish your talk and I'll come back around 4:00 okay?" Rin stuttered, slowly sauntering towards the door.
"Kakashi, Shin. Please wait outside so I can talk to Rin." Minato ordered, his cold blue eyes burning into us. I left quickly along with Kakashi, closing the door behind us and sitting on the top step of the stairs.
"Kakashi, would you like to have a spar?"
"Why?"
"I've never fought a jonin properly before, I'd like to see what the talk is all about."
"I don't deserve that title."
"Don't believe the hokage and your own sensei is so blind as to not view your potential and skill right now as worthy of a title, have more faith in your superiors."
"Heh, you sound like an old man right now."
"What! I'm only 7!"
"Wow, I'm twelve and I don't talk like an old man like you do, even sensei doesn't."
"I'm just better than both of you I guess."
"Oh really? How about we do that spar then."
We moved down the stairs and stood in the front yard, facing towards each other in our stances. Kakashi brought out his tanto and channelled some chakra through it, I summoned my own katana and brought it forward.
"Guess it's a sword battle. Why don't you uncover your left eye, I don't think I'll be so easy that you can beat me half blind."
"I'll be the judge of that…"
We rushed towards each other with his blade humming with energy. I clanged mine against his in the middle but had to pull away because of the strength behind it, he followed through and flipped with an axe kick to the head.
I dodged to the side and brought my sword around to bisect his torso, but he brought down his sword to parry it while sweeping my legs out from under me. I planted my hand into the ground and backflipped while slashing my sword upwards, he parried the slash and chased me down, slashing furiously into my guard.
After blocking another slash I stabbed forward and forced him to block, using my time wisely, I let go of my sword, now using it one handed, to spawn in a thunder spear made from bright lightning.
Kakashi's eye widened as he performed a seal less substitution to escape the attack, my spear splintering the wood all over the yard. "Alright, guess I'll start trying, just a little." He smirked, his sword glowing an ever brighter white like the sun.
Kakashi vanished from my vision, and I ducked a slash barely on instinct, activating my dojutsu and spinning around to make space. He jumped over the slash and stabbed downward towards my neck, I rolled to the side and threw my sword into the air.
His eyes watched my blade closely as it left my hand, and I sped through hand seals, slamming the ground to make a wall in front of me. I did 2 more hand seals and placed a pit to both of my sides while masking them with a false surroundings genjutsu.
Kakashi jumped around the wall and threw a fireball towards me. I swiftly jumped over it and landed on top of my wall, catching my sword as it fell. That entire exchange happened in less than 3 seconds, combat in this world was really too fast sometimes.
He landed on top of the wall and began to engage me in kenjutsu, pushing me further back until I fell off the wall. He fell along with me but stabbed his sword straight down to skewer me. I put my sword back and summoned a clone on the ground below me, it grabbed my arms and swung me back to safety while Kakashi slammed into the ground, flinging dirt into the air.
The dirt kicked up was quickly blasted away when a burst of blue lightning flew out of the cloud. 'Perception +!' Time stopped as I commanded it, freezing Kakashi in place and the entire universe. He was currently running towards me while holding a Chidori, scraping it across the ground to kick up more dirt, similar to Sasuke against Gaara. His sharingan was uncovered and I saw the 2 tomoe surrounding his pupil.
Timer started to resume and I lung myself to the right, dodging his Chidori that slammed into my previous position with an explosion of blue sparkles and dirt. I sensed his chakra underground and quickly did some hand seals before substituting myself with a new clone and jumping into the air.
He grabbed the ankles of my clone and it dispersed, drenching Kakashi in water. I rocketed down towards him with my palm full of lightning, slamming it into his figure with a resounding *CRACK*.
Only to find a blade at my neck, vibrating with white light like a disco ball. I put my hands up and turned around. Kakashi had a smirk on his face but put the sword away.
"When did you do that?"
"When I went underground. I created a clone and hid my chakra signature, my clone grabbed yours and I popped out after receiving its memories since you were right on top of me."
"Smart, ugh, guess I lost. Good match Kakashi, hopefully we can have another some time."
"It was a good fight, especially since I got to fight another sword user, not to often I get to use mine."
"Hehe, I'm no master, but it was a great fight." I put out my fist and he bumped it with his own. We heard some clapping from above and looked up, Minato was smiling down with us while Rin was watching over the bar on the balcony, stars in her eyes.
"Good spar you two, though, you kind of did a number on my yard." He said, laughing slightly as he pointed out the destruction. I turned around and looked at it myself, several potholes, a few craters, piles of mud, yep, pretty standard for a destructive battle.
"Ah, sorry sensei." Kakashi bowed, Minato waved him off though and ushered us back inside. "I'll hire some genin to fix it later so don't worry. I didn't think you were that strong though Shin, to fight even with Kakashi for a little while is incredible!" Minato commented.
"Thanks, I still have a long way to go though. So, what did you and Rin talk about?" I replied, looking towards Rin, who's eyes were shaking a bit and her face red.
"W- we were discussing my options as a shinobi, as well as my options, not being one." Rin said, her voice shaking under stress.
"Wait, Rin, you're going to quit?" Kakashi gasped, looking at her with a wide eye.
"N-No, I don't think that's the path for me. I want to be a battle medic, one as great as princess Tsunade!"
"Attagirl!" I commented, patting her on the back with a laugh. She blushed a bit and walked inside the house, maybe she was shy? We all entered the house and had more… fun conversations where I got to learn about the missions they went on as a group while I talked about my journey so far in detail.
By the time we had realised, it was long past 1:00pm so we had been talking for over 3 hours now. Kushina appeared a little while ago and was joining in on conversations with witty comments and her own stories. Sho and Natio came back at 3:00pm and Miya appeared soon after, it turned into some sort of small party in the Namikaze residence where everyone was laughing and reminiscing over the past.
Kakashi left first after a messenger appeared while we were finishing dinner. After that was Rin, who had completely forgotten to tell her parents where she went and rushed out of the house quickly, not even picking up her basket. The basket was filled with pastries we ate after the fight.
After they both left, Miya went to sleep early since she wanted to see more places tomorrow and Sho went with her. Minato started to get tired around 7:00pm and went to bed so it was just me, Kushina and Natio around the dining room table with cups of tea in our hands.
"Tonight, was a good night." I said while smiling.
"Yeah, it was. Shin, I'll start to help you with seals tomorrow okay?" Natio replied, yawning a bit while gulping down her cup. She got up from her chair and headed upstairs to go to sleep.
"Hey Kushina?"
"Mm?"
"Can you help me with some training?"
"What type of training? Minato is better than me at quite a few things."
"Well, there is a certain type of seal I want to learn, and before that I want to perfect my kenjutsu and learn a new style."
"What type of seal? And I'll definitely share my style with you, us Uzumaki need to honour the clan right?"
"Yeah, the type of seal is pretty special, sort of like a storage one but not really."
"Oooh? Let me guess, you want to make a chakra storing seal? Maybe a seal you can fire things from?"
"No, I want to create a seal that will make me a jinchurikii. I want to seal a tailed beast inside of myself."
"I don't think that's a good idea."
"How so?"
"Well first, the tailed beasts were given out by the first hokage so if you decide to affiliate with any village while being the jinchurikii of a beast they don't own. It could upset the power balance and lead to another war. Second, tailed beasts are rare you know, only 9 in existence, and every single one is currently sealed inside of a jinchurikii. So, you will have to fight a chakra powerhouse and then not kill that juggernaut and keep them still enough to unseal the beast. Then you would have to fight the beast to weaken it, and only then could you possibly seal it."
"Wow, very complicated. Still though, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Between you and me, I'm currently going for the 7 tailed beast Chomei, I also want to state just in case your nosy fox is listening in, I don't consider his siblings weapons but I'm doing this for a good reason the super old dude would agree with."
"Super old dude?"
"Sage of six paths."
"Sure Shin, the nine tails would know of a myth that doesn't even exist for all we know, and why would he even care about his opinion?"
I smirked and put my cup in the sink, rinsing it out before lying on the couch and looking over the top of it. "I would care about my parent's opinion, wouldn't you?"
Kushina quirked and eyebrow but shrugged and headed up the stairs, saying a quick goodnight before I heard her door close. I flicked off the lights in the living room and got comfortable on the couch, 'Maybe I'm saying a bit much' I mused, heading off into dream land.
The next morning 4:00 am
"Wake up Shin, its time to start training."
"Huh? It's so early though."
"Enemies won't wait for you to wake up or be at full power before fighting, now get up."
"Why're you so serious Natio?"
"Can I not be? I thought tough masters were better." She scratched the side of her head with a sheepish look, a blush clouding some of her face.
"They are, they are. But take it a bit less seriously yeah?"
"Ha ha, yeah sure, but still, you need to get up and ready for your new training. Fuinjutsu is tough stuff."
"I know, I have a little guidebook that gave me the basics, but I'm no where near good enough to create seals yet."
"Guess we'll need to start with your calligraphy, good thing we have a ton of paper around here." Natio pointed to the coffee table where several stacks of paper were placed neatly across the table.
I wiped the sleep from my eyes and blinked a few times. "You want me to use all of that?"
"Of course! It isn't anywhere near as much as I used to use with grandma after all."
"That's still over 1,000 pieces of paper, just for calligraphy."
"Yep! So, get started!"
"Ugh, this is going to be a long day."
"Never said it wasn't!"
Natio waltzed back up the stairs with a happy skip in her step while I grabbed a brush from the ink pot and began the first kanji tracing, slowly painting the shaded area with black ink.
I finished the first page after 10 minutes and groaned out loud. My hands already hurt from cramps and the stress I was putting on them to keep each line exact. Minato walked down the stairs with a yawn and put some coffee on to brew.
"Wow Shin, you stepping into a kage position?"
"Gah! You made me fuck up! No, I'm just practicing kanji for fuinjutsu practice."
"Hmm, there's a clone technique that could help you. Shadow clones are a nice way to complete any job."
"Well sadly, I don't have any shadow clones to do my work. Any way I can get my hands on it?"
"Nope! Just wanted you to know there is an easier way that you can't have! Hehe."
"Asshole, just teach me!"
"Sadly, it's a village secret. If you want, go talk to the hokage for it so he can refuse you too. That'll teach you to mess up my lawn"
"Will he even be there right now?"
"He should be, well I'm going there for a meeting later at 6:00 so he should be there now."
"Ok, I'm going to go see him then. Have fun ya shitty blonde."
"So crass, if only he could learn something from Kakashi haha."
I leaped across rooftops until I reached the bottom of the hokage tower, knocking politely on the doors at the front. A secretary opened them and ushered me inside.
"Do you have an appointment?"
"Nah just want to ask the hokage a favour. Is that possible?"
"I'll need to check with him, what's your name?"
"Shin Uzumaki."
"Uzumaki? Go on ahead then, sorry to keep you." She politely bowed and ducked back behind her desk while I head up the orange stairs, walking past the same paintings as a few days ago and the same trophies.
"Yo hokage, can I come in?"
"Shin? Sure! Please do."
I pushed the door forward and stepped inside, seeing 3 clones of Hiruzen shuffling and signing paperwork while the real one (I assumed) was laying on the couch smoking his pipe.
"Sup, I guess you did start using clones to do it huh?"
The clones grumbled and Hirzuen tapped his pipe on the ashtray to clean it. "Yes. They've been quite helpful; I haven't gotten this much sleep since I was appointed this position."
"So, can I learn the shadow clone technique?"
"Hmm, I think you possible could, Uzumaki always were good with the chakra intensive jutsu. But I don't think I will be handing it out without something in return, especially a B- Rank ninjutsu like the shadow clone technique."
"What do you want in exchange?"
"Well, there is one thing I could ask for. That'll be the only way I hand it over, though I'm not sure you will want to do it."
"Just tell me what it is, and I'll decide that."
"I have Minato coming around later to go out for a mission with Kakashi and Rin to the eastern border near the land of water, they will leave in 4 days after their rest is over. You will tag along as the 4th member of their team and treat Minato as your leader, in exchange, you will receive the shadow clone technique."
"I'll think about it. Want me to tell Minato my answer?"
"Yes, tell him your answer before he meets with me in the next few hours."
"Alright old man, I'm gonna get going then."
"Heh, I may be old, but I could smack you around."
I didn't respond and opened the window behind his desk, hopping out and landing on the ground outside the tower. 'So, this is the mission where Rin gets sealed with the 3 tails, I think? Unless they have more missions near the land of water.'
While walking through Konoha I came across Rin who was buying some flowers from a shop. I walked up behind her and saw she was crying. "Rin? Are you alright?"
"Oh, hey Shin. Yeah I'm fine, just grabbing some flowers."
"Who're they for?"
"Obito, have you seen the memorial stone? They chiselled his name out yesterday after Minato sensei placed in the report."
"I haven't, do you want to go there together?"
"Sure! Maybe I can tell you about some of the others on there as well. The memorial stone has every shinobi who died in combats name carved into it you see."
"Interesting, hopefully we don't interrupt anyone while we're there."
We walked side by side through the early morning Konoha, basking in the sunrise and cold air of the winter morning. Most people were setting up their shops now, but a few shinobi were out buying things like food and weapons.
Rin brought me to a large training ground with several logs dotted around the area. The grass was green, and the trees gave quite a bit of shade over the grounds. Rin slowly walked through the grass until she stopped at a large grey stone in the shape of a large rectangle with many names inscribed on it.
"Morning Obito, how was the weather last night? I had to double up on blankets because of how cold it was." Rin said softly, placing down her flowers and shedding a few tears. "Oh yeah, this is Shin Uzumaki. We met yesterday at Minato sensei's house. He's pretty cool. Kakashi has been different since you left, a lot quieter I'd say." Tears continued to flow down her face as she stared at the stone.
"Rin, are you alright?" I asked, rubbing her back slowly as she pulled out a scroll. A kanji saying 'seal' was in the middle and she put her hand on it softly, pouring a small amount of chakra in.
A small *poof* echoed in the area and I looked down at the scroll. In her hands were Obito's orange goggles, she placed them in front of the flowers and placed her hands together, a motion I mimicked. We both bowed down and stood back up.
"Sup Shin, Rin. You here to visit Obito as well?" We turned around to see Kakashi with a bouquet of red flowers in his hands. I stepped to the side, and he placed them down besides our own, bowing deeply and standing back up to look at us.
"Old man hokage offered me a deal to come along with you guys to the land of water. Think I should accept?" I said, breaking our silence while we walked out of the training ground.
"Up to you, but have you ever been on a mission before?" Kakashi replied.
"I haven't been on a mission like this, just a few bounties since I'm a traveller. Hopefully if I do go, we find some good heads to snatch."
"What has this world come to if kids even younger than us are wanting bounty work." Rin groaned with a smile.
"A bloody good one I'd say, bounties give good money. You two want to come back to Minato's?"
"I think I'll pass; I need to do my training for today."
"Me too, my parents wanted my help with moving around some stuff."
"Alright, talk to you two later."
"Yeah/cya!"
Kakashi vanished in a swirl of leaves while Rin walked back into the city. I headed in another direction and towards Minato's house, it was pretty close to the hokage tower and in between the shinobi district and the hokage mountain. I opened the door and greeted Sho, who was crinkling his nose at the smell of coffee in the air while Minato laughed.
I sat down at the couch and continued with my calligraphy training, gaining 18 levels in the skill before I took another break. This was pretty easy, but extremely mind numbing. "Hey Minato, I'll be tagging along with your mission in a few days so can you tell the hokage my answer?"
"He sent an unaffiliated shinobi with a team on a mission. Sometimes I wonder if lord third has a few screws loose. Sure, I'll give him your answer when I head there though."
"I mean, he only offered me to go in exchange for the shadow clone technique."
"Wow surprised he would give it up at all. Have fun with your calligraphy though because I'm going to go get changed."
"Alright. Sho, what's with your face?"
"Coffee. It smells bad."
"Pussy."
"What'd you call me you little shit!?"
"A pussy, even I can handle the smell of coffee."
"You little bastard, I'll get you for that insult."
"I'd like to see you try." I smirked at him and laid back in the couch. He walked over to me calmly and I got on guard for a possible attack. Instead, he scattered all 8 stacks of paper around the room with a gale palm while laughing out loud like a maniac.
"YOU ASSHOLE! THAT'S GOING TO TAKE SO LONG TO FIX! LET ALONE SORTING THE ONES I ALREADY DID!"
"Not my problem anymore ya little shit. That'll teach you to respect your betters."
"Ah yes, my betters, a 80-year-old man who is so spiteful he chucks around a young man's papers, so much batter."
"I'm only 30!"
"Tomato tomahto" I taunted, picking up some of the scattered papers and flipping him off with my left hand. He growled a bit before flipping me off back with a smirk and walking back upstairs, later on I could hear some sort of rocking or banging sound from downstairs.
It certainly woke up Kushina who came downstairs with a pissed off look and fixed herself some coffee. "Has Minato gone out already?"
"Yeah, he left about an hour ago to meet the hokage."
"Awww, that sucks, I wanted to have a bit of fun myself. Natio certainly is."
"So that's what those sounds are. Is Miya up?"
"No, not just yet. What are you working on?"
"Currently, I'm working on picking up the paper Sho blasted around the room after getting a bit pissy. After that I'll be doing kanji practice to learn fuinjutsu."
"Nice! Later on, do you want to start practicing kenjutsu? I'm still on mission leave for the next week so I have time."
"Sure, but I'm going on a mission in 4 days with team Minato as a replacement member."
"Wow, what for?"
"Shadow clone jutsu, it'll help me train a lot faster, so I made a deal with the hokage."
"A pretty good deal if you ask me. A free jutsu for a single mission is heavily weighted towards your end."
"Maybe he just likes me."
"Or he could be testing you. It would be a fun outcome if you became a leaf shinobi, though a bit cliché."
'That's the first time you have used the new upgrade isn't it, gods?'
"That it is, it won't be often we do since we like to just observe. But fun comments are fine every once in a while. Oh, for fuck's sake, Nika! I told you not to do that shit and guess what, you do it anyway! Have fun getting scurvy dumbass! Oh shit, this thing is still on. Cya!"
I mentally chuckled at the antics and finally finished stacking the remainder of the pages on the table. Kushina sat next to me while I worked, giving me tips on how to write the kanji faster or the theory behind fuinjutsu. I gained 26 more levels in the skill in just 4 hours, insanely fast progress even with my titles. What was going on?
"Wow Shin, your kanji is improving really fast! It's almost like muscle memory to you now!" Kushina congratulated while I continued to write. So far, I had finished 3 quarters of what Natio laid out for me for the day and it was nearing 12:00pm.
"Thanks, Kushina, I really need a break now to rest my brain. How about we go do some kenjutsu training?"
"Sure! I was getting bored watching you anyway."
We both stepped out the door and dropped into the newly repaired yard. Some genin came in earlier to announce the completed job while I was practicing, Kushina signed off and they left.
"So Shin, what style are you currently learning?"
"The haze sword technique, my teacher's specialty from kumo."
"I think I remember that one… I fought someone a few years ago that used the same style. Go through the forms quickly and then we can spar." She chucked me a wooden katana, and I performed every single form flawlessly, a fruit of my year long course with Kuri.
Kushina complimented my attacks and got into a stance of her own, whipping around her sword quickly and viciously that cut some blades of grass around the area where she was standing. "What style is that?" I asked, perplexed by her beautiful act of swordplay.
"A clan special, Red Cross style. It combines a lot of swift movements using lots of chakra to eliminate enemies as quickly as possible, in a group. One on one, it isn't as good as some other styles, but if you can get your speed high enough it will be able to beat any other style in the shinobi world!"
"Wow, pretty fuckin' scary"
"You betcha! Now lets have a bit of a spar, I wont use any chakra to augment my muscles but you can."
"Alright, don't break my bones now."
"Don't worry, I can call Rin over whenever."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
She didn't respond and rushed forward with a smile on her face. I blocked the first strike, but I heard the wood on my sword crack from the strength, she pulled back and stabbed forwards into my chest. I parried the stab and twirled around the blade, attempting to slice at her neck. Kushina ducked under the swipe and planted her left hand on the ground, quickly pushing her entire body off of it to land a solid kick to my face.
I flew through the air and attempted to land but Kushina was waiting for me below. She stabbed upwards and I substituted out of the way, allowing a log to explode in my place. Kushina quirked her eyebrow but shrugged it off, looking towards me with fire in her eyes. "Here I thought it was a kenjutsu match."
"Oh, I'm so fucking sorry I didn't let you break my back."
"You better be, because I'm actually going to start trying now."
She dashed forward at an insane speed, and I used my once a day 'perception +' to stop time. Kushina was doing a horizontal slash towards my neck which I couldn't block, I quickly thought of a plan and when the time ended, ducked under the swipe and used swift chakra on my body to sprint across the yard.
"What was that?" She asked, whipping her sword to her left and settling into her original stance again.
"Swift release, or a bastardised version of it. I can combine chakra natures naturally to a lesser degree, think of it as a weaker copy of every nature transformation blood limit."
"Interesting, no more talking now."
I allowed swift chakra to flow through my body and felt my muscles start to ache. It was the only way I could keep up with Kushina at that point so I ignored the pain and vanished forward, swinging twice in a cross pattern.
'Haze sword technique, jagged arch!'
I followed through on the second swing and flipped horizontally to land a third slash straight down Kushina's body. She sidestepped the last strike after blocking the first two and kicked me in the stomach, flinging me into the air. 'This is her without chakra! What the fuck kind of biology is this!?' I screamed, my body humming with swift chakra while I plummeted back towards the ground.
My muscles finally gave out and I slammed into the ground with a crack. Kushina hurried over and put me over her shoulder, "are you okay Shin!? Sorry I went a bit tough there, still no chakra though."
"I can't believe you did that without chakra. Even Kakashi couldn't do that."
"What can I say? I worked hard to get where I am."
"I'm sure you did. Can you please place me on the couch so I can sleep?"
"Sure, have a good rest. We'll continue training tomorrow where I'll start to perfect your style."
"Alright, bye Kushina."
"Bye bye."
I promptly fell unconscious in on her back and she chucked me on the couch. I slept peacefully for the next few hours until Sho decided to draw a huge dick on my face, making it piss into my mouth.
"I hate you so much." I said after looking in the mirror, Sho was openly laughing while Minato was holding back laughter with his hand. Natio face palmed and Kushina prepared to smack Sho over the head with her wooden sword, succeeding in her venture since he slammed into the ground with a resounding thwack.
I attempted to wipe off the dick, to no avail, so I groaned and finished off my calligraphy practice, earning 7 more levels in the skill and gaining another 2 levels.
Kakashi came over later and smirked at my face, which I replied to by flipping him off. He asked Kushina for some tips for his sword technique, which she happily obliged to give and also asked Minato about his progress on completing the rasengan.
"It's no where near done. I still haven't found a way to realistically add my affinity to the jutsu, even Jiraiya sensei was stumped. Your Chidori is incredibly impressive though, especially since you can use it without the tunnel vision now."
"Yeah, that has really helped." He rubbed his left hand over his covered sharingan, "maybe you should approach it from a different angle, like not using the orb shape?" Kakashi added.
"I've thought about that as well, but the focus on shape transformation with the original jutsu has severely limited me in that department."
"Here's an idea." I piped up, "what's your main affinity?"
"Wind."
"How have you been adding an element so far?"
"I first start with a normal rasengan, then I'll slowly morph it by adding my affinity. But it becomes unstable and explodes if I do that, and if I form it originally using my element, I can't mould it into a ball shape or compact it."
"What if you tried adding an outer layer of elemental chakra instead of changing the base jutsu? And if that doesn't work, add another layer of normal chakra outside of that to keep it contained."
"So basically, use my wind chakra on the outside and wrap it around the rasengan?"
"Try it, we should probably do it outside though."
The 3 of us all headed into the yard, Kushina and Natio were watching from the stairs while me and Kakashi watched Minato hold his rasengan in his hand. He made the first rasengan but when he tried to add a layer of wind chakra, the original dissipated into the air.
"Agh! It's like trying to look left and right at the same time!"
"Wait, can I try something?"
"Sure, need me to form a rasengan?"
"Yes please."
He formed the orb of chakra and I got to see it up close. It vibrated quickly with pure energy and looked like a tornado in a ball. I put my hands up near it, parallel to Minato and started to add my own chakra to the ball. It started to vibrate more and more but I changed my chakra into the wind nature, and it started to calm down.
"C'mon, c'mon" I chanted, sweat starting to appear from the focus I was using, Minato also had a thick line of sweat on his brow.
The rasengan started to gain little tails that were circling around the orb that melded into each other, like a dust ring orbiting a planet. The ring slowly started to separate into 4 main blades that spun extremely quickly around the middle.
I pulled my hands back and Minato stared at the jutsu in his hand. He turned around and nodded towards Kushina, who summoned a shadow clone that jumped down and stood still. Minato ran forward with the rasengan spinning in his hands like a cyclone, slamming it into the clone with a ringing boom that blasted him backwards.
"Shit!" He yelled out while rolling across the ground, I landed behind Minato and stopped his back. He looked down at his hand and it was bright red with burns.
"Did it work?" Kakashi said, staring in awe at the cloud of dust that surrounded where the clone was. Kushina looked down at the cloud and rubbed her head, "that thing is a lot louder up close 'ttebane!"
"WAHOO!" Minato yelled out, clenching his fists into the air. The dirt cloud dissipated and revealed a large crater that had hundreds of lines dug into the rock. He stood up and ran around the yard while jumping for joy, yelling about the accomplishment while we watched,
"Jeez, that took a few years." Kushina chuckled, looking down at Minato who was running around like a headless chook. "Years?" Natio asked, quirking an eyebrow at her comment.
"Minato has struggled with adding his nature for over 6 months now, and just making the jutsu took 3 years. I don't know if he would have completed the jutsu at all if it wasn't for Shin."
"I don't think I did that much. Just proved a theory is all." I said after joining them up on the stairs. Kakashi sat beside me and chucked a water canteen to me that I quickly drank out of.
"Thanks, Kakashi."
"No problem."
"So Minato, do you think you could do that on your own?" I yelled out, bringing him down from his high. "No, but what did you do? You were putting in chakra to the rasengan and then it just worked."
"I added wind chakra to your rasengan, not just normal chakra. That empowered yours to a higher degree. When you need to use it in the field though replace me with a shadow clone, that'll make it easy to form and use."
"Yeah, I got it, thanks Shin."
"All good, that shits going to be dangerous though. Especially if we can find out how to guarantee a hit."
"I have a solution for that, I'll just use my flying thunder god formula to teleport myself along with the rasengan to a marked opponent, easy."
"Then I guess today was productive for both of us. I'm tired though so I'm going to head to bed, all that calligraphy is killing my arms."
"Goodnight Shin." Kakashi said
"Night kid." Sho said while patting my shoulder
"Thanks for the help!" Minato yelled out while I walked through the door. It gave me a warm bubbly feeling hearing so many people wish me well. I hadn't felt this way in so long, this happiness.
I'm the one who's really tired right now. Guess what people, I failed most of my classes this year LOL. Kind of sucks but I had several circumstances this year that held me back, though now I have to redo this year or not graduate. Ahhh, all my friends are going to leave a year earlier than me unless I sort something out.
I'm too tired to care about anything right now so that's all from me, bye bye! -tired
