"Hyaa!" Christie yelled as she hit Eddy's head sending him skidding down, the mentor tried to get back up but Christie pinned her leg above his neck as she smirked at him.
Eddy smirked back and tabbed on her leg allowing himself to get free as Christie retracted back and helped Eddy up who cracked his neck "Good now you're a master."
"I wouldn't have done it without you" Christie pointed out finally after two gruelling years of training she had finally mastered Capoeira in a much shorter time then Eddy an information he praised her on.
Eddy expression turned serious as he looked to the side and turned back "Well that's all there is to it, use it wisely this style your grandfather intrusted me with to you."
Christie nodded silently as Eddy left without saying much else.
(…)
Christie out the window of her college cafeteria as lunch was being served to the students "Hey Christie!"
"W-what?" snapped out of her stubborn she turned to her classmate who stared daggers into her.
"You weren't listening?" Christie shook her head which brought an annoyed sigh from the girl "I was talking about Bruno checking you out again."
The added purr to her voice prompted Christie to look back to see said male student hanging back and winked once he noticed Christie staring at him before the Capoeira fighter immediately turned back to her classmate "Please he does that to all the girls."
"But your special" her classmate argued "Bruno likes strong girls and you are strong both in mind and body ever since you took down that perv last year."
Christie internally sighed last year their was a peeping tom inside the girl's locker room and when he was discovered the girls planned to give him retribution but he turned to be a proficient street fighter which called upon Christie's aid that easily took him down thanks to the training she had with Eddy, since then she was held in high regard as the best woman in campus "I wish people would just forget about this."
"They won't" added a newcomer being another classmate "Besides your already taken."
Christie looked at the other classmate with bugged eyes "Where did that come from?"
"Well after the perv incident many were talking about your sudden fighting spirit and I heard from Isabella who heard from Tressa who heard from Antonio who saw you meeting up with a guy for two years."
"Huh why am I hearing this only now?" asked the first classmate as she pressed her face unto Christie's.
Christie gently pushed her face back before clearing "That guy is Eddy he's my instructor."
"Hmm" the second classmate looked at Christie with a raised eyebrow.
"Seriously he's just some guy that owes a favour to my grandfather who's a Capoeira master."
"So does that mean I can ask him out?" the second classmate asked.
"S-sure" Christie answered uneasily.
"Great!"
(…)
Christie leaned back on the wall staring up at the sky awaiting her classmate "Sorry to keep you waiting."
Christie turned around and her eyes widened seeing the dazzling and hot clothing her classmate put on covering very little and hugging her figure tightly "What is this?"
"Hey a girl has to look her best when seducing a man" the classmate defended herself folding up her arms.
"Whatever let's just meet up with him" Christie took the lead as her classmate followed her the two sat down at the café where Christie and Eddy first met a quarter of an hour passed making Christie's classmate grow frustrated.
"Where is he?" she demanded getting up "Argh and here I was dressed nicely for him, Chris be a dear and at least tell him about me I got to go."
"Okay" Christie agreed with a calm voice but she too was a little peeved about Eddy being late for their usual time.
Once her classmate left the waiter that always served Christie and Eddy arrived "Christie Eddy apologizes for not showing up and he asked me to give you this?"
Christie was given an envelop addressed to her by Eddy gulping a bit Christie opened the envelop and began reading what was written:
Dear Christie
Two years we had trained together and I admit this was the best time of my life currently however it was never meant to last.
When we first met you accused me of killing my own father, this was the story I had told everyone to honour his wish to protect me though he told me not to pursue revenge my heart can't stand this knowing those responsible for his death are out there prospering while he is buried in the ground.
When I first learned Capoeira from your grandfather I entered the King of Iron fist tournament 3 knowing many crime lords are present in that event such as Heihachi Mishima, though I didn't win it I did learn who is responsible for father's death, he and all of those responsible for his death will pay.
Christie folded up the piece of paper feeling her chest tightening at this worried for the man she came to care for as a valued friend and master "Did Eddy say where he was going?"
The waiter shook his head "No he thanked me for the meeting place and entrusted me with this letter."
"I see thanks anyways" Christie got off her chair and wondered about the letter about Eddy and his father, Charles Gordo was a beloved figure in recent Brazilian politics for he fought against corruption and managed to bust and arrest many drug dealers many were hopeful that Brazil will head into a bright future should Charles run for president as he had promised however that never came to be as Eddy approached the nearest court house and confessed of murdering his father.
Being Charles son Eddy was a respected young man with a bright future many thinking he'll be a respectful political figure like his father so when the news of the murder came in a single night Eddy turned from a respected young man to the most feared and hated one of his generation, after her first day of training Christie began to feel safer around Eddy and the more days passed she found it harder to believe that he would do such a thing she remembers when she pressed on this.
Flashback
Christie leaned back on the bench of a nearby gym outside the ring where Eddy presented her a water bottle which she silently took with gratitude before taking a sip "That hit the spot."
Eddy opened his own bottle to take a sip but stopped when Christie's voice was directed at him "Eddy can I ask you something?"
Eddy placed his water down turning to her "Yeah."
Christie looked at her own bottle contemplating weather she should ask this or not but the longer she waited the more it'll keep her up at night "Eddy why did you kill your dad?"
Eddy's face hardened "What business do you have in this?"
"It's just I find it hard to believe for a child to do this to their parent and the more time we spent together I started to doubt someone like you would do this and-"
"Well it's none of your business!" Eddy cut her off immediately before she can add more.
The young man quickly began drinking his water crushing the bottle in his hand before he threw it perfectly at the trash can, he got off and began walking away "Training is over for today."
Present
After apologizing the next day about her insensitive question Christie never brought up the subject again but she can tell it bothered Eddy and this letter now confirms it, her master was innocent he willingly framed himself for protection unless he wanted the true culprits to hunt him down as well.
This's as far as she can deduce as she reread the letter again before placing it in her back pocket but her mind was still lost to the point she didn't notice the person that was about to pump into.
*Crash
Christie and the person fell back on their butts, the person recovered first and yelled "Hey watch where you're going lady!"
"Sorry" she gave a helping hand to the man after she dusted herself off which he had accepted before carrying some posters that he dropped, feeling at fault Christie bent down to carry one of the posters and her eyes widened "Excuse me but what is this?"
"It's an advertisement for the King of Iron fist tournament 4" the man answered.
"It's starting?"
"Not yet there's time to sign up for competitors with preliminary rounds being untelevised."
Christie stared at the poster with narrowed eyes remembering that Eddy mentioned the tournament in his letter "Sir not to intrude but how do I sign up?"
The man raised an eyebrow at the young woman staring her up and down measuring her "Forget it girly that place is for pros, only the worst and most dangerous of fighters go there, but if you won't listen to me then just look up the Mishima Zaibatsu web page their the ones holding these tournaments."
"Very well" Christie picked up the last of these posters and handed them over to the man before she left on her way.
(…)
When she returned to her complex Christie wasted no time opening the Mishima Zaibatsu web page and sure enough the first thing that pops up to her is the King of Iron fist tournament 4 clicking on her signing Christie began filling up the forums before her web window made a green glow along with a new notification:
Thank you for applying Christie Monteiro in order to compete please be present at the Mishima den near your location for the preliminary rounds before leaping up to the real tournament, it'll be held in three days' time
Christie leaned back stretching her back knowing that a long road is ahead of her.
(…)
Christie carried herself with determination but also looked around hoping to find Eddy amongst the participants she might pump into but alas he wasn't within her sight not long after she found herself along with other's before the den of the Mishima Zaibatsu were a business dressed man that looked to be packing under that suit stood before them "Alright maggots I understand that many of you are here to compete in the King of the iron fist tournament, right?"
"YES!" yelled many of the hopeful competitors in unison.
"Well too bad the King of Iron fist tournament isn't your momma's property so only one of you here will make it!"
"What?"
"Which one of us?"
"How will you decide?"
The last question made the man smirk "By fights of course."
The man snapped his fingers and the garage door was lifted upwards revealing several mats "Your going to face each other's and the last one standing will get the spot in the real tournament, now take a number."
Christie was given a piece of paper along with the other hopefuls her number was 4 "Okay numbers 4 and 3 over here!"
One of the staff called out as Christie followed and entered the mat facing against a man with a karate gi "Name your styles."
"Capoeira" Christie said.
"Brazilian Jujutsu" the man said.
"Alright get set" the staff raised a hand in the air before bringing it down "FIGHT!"
Christie's eyes hardened when her opponent rushed at her with arms ready to grab she fell back and launched a kick up but the man caught the leg and used it to take Christie down, he mounted on top of Christie and began hitting her while she raised her arms up for protection.
The jujutsu fighter then trapped Christie's head underneath his shoulder and grabbed her pants lifting her upwards but Christie managed to wrap her legs around his neck choking him forcing him to let go of her head Christie released his neck before she grabbed unto his head and took him down with his head falling on the mat, the prodigy then mounted his back before she rolled backwards and launched him off of the mat "Winner Christie Monteiro!"
Christie smiled as she left the mat and helped her opponent up "Well guess that means it's back to the dojo for me."
"Sorry but there's someone I'm looking for who I believe could be in this tournament" Christie apologized before she felt a reassuring tab on her shoulder.
"Just find that person and if you could win the tournament that way I can admit with pride that the one who stopped from entering the tournament is none other than it's champion."
Christie's smile widened as she nodded "I'll make sure to at least make it far so you won't be ashamed."
The following prelims went by easily none proved to be on her level as she easily dispatched them and stood as the sole survivor standing over her last opponent "Incredible Ms. Monteiro you're the last person standing."
"So I'm in the tournament?"
"No not yet we'll send the feedback to the Mishima branch responsible for the competition and they'll send you an email regarding the tournament, understand?"
"Yes thank you very much" Christie answered as she left with a head held high towards the sky 'Eddy.'

Three days passed since her passing of the test as her phone buzzed a tone of receiving a message:
