Quinn approached Brittany and Santana after the assembly, knowing she needed to take this opportunity to recruit them for the New Directions.
"Santana, Britt, can I ask a favor?" Quinn asked.
"Why?" Santana said, crossing her arms.
"Did you find a genie?" Brittany asked excitedly as Santana gave her a look. "I heard if you find a genie, you get three wishes. You always have to obey the wishes," Brittany explained.
"No Brittany, I didn't find a genie," Quinn chuckled a bit, before sighing. "Look. You guys are my best friends and I wouldn't ask this favor if what happened at the pep rally hadn't happened but you saw what that thing was doing to Finn," Quinn frowned.
"Let me get this straight, you want us to join the Glee Club with you?" Santana said dumbfounded.
"But Coach Sylvester wanted us to destroy the Glee Club, not help it," Brittany said confused.
"Obviously I'm not joining to help the Glee Club, I'm joining to keep that thing away from Finn. It would mean a lot to have your support," Quinn sighed.
Brittany and Santana looked at each other, nodding.
"We're in," Santana said as Quinn looked relieved.
"Thank you guys. You don't know what this means to me," Quinn said, hugging them both.
"Of course, Q, we're the unholy trinity and you can't break up the unholy trinity," Brittany smiled as Santana nodded.
"I think I have the perfect idea for a song, come on," Quinn smiled softly as she headed off with Brittany and Santana to perfect their number for their audition for the New Directions.
Meanwhile, the New Directions were having a serious meeting about what had just occurred at the pep rally.
"Guys, I am seriously disappointed in all of you," Mr. Schue said seriously as he held in his hand a pre-approved song list of songs the New Directions could perform at the school functions.
"We're really sorry Mr. Schue, we just thought we could perform a song that would get the other students interested in Glee Club," Finn apologized.
"Well they might be interested but no parent in their right mind is going to let their kid join the glee club after the stunt you just pulled," Mr. Schue said, upset as the New Directions all lowered their heads, knowing they had messed up.
"But there is a silver lining. Principal Figgins cut the Cheerios dry cleaning budget so we can afford new costumes," Mr. Schue said as Grace couldn't help but look nervous, knowing this was going to make her sister more upset than anything else.
"That has to be a good thing right?" Rachel offered as Mr. Schue shook his head.
"No, it isn't because we have a limited amount of songs you're allowed to perform that reflect the communities values," Mr. Schue said as he handed the New Directions the list of approved songs.
Grace wasn't as upset as everyone else, she recognized many of the songs on the list as songs she had performed at church and some were even old records she used to listen to like 'I Say a Little Prayer'.
"Until the New Directions can prove that we won't perform another number like 'Push It', we are limited in what we can sing on school time. Now, Figgins already graciously approved 'Don't Stop Believin'' so we have our first number for Sectionals but as for the rest of the songs, we can look only on the approved list," Mr. Schue said as the New Directions looked disheartened having a feeling this wouldn't end well for the group.
"We'll find something Mr. Schue, there are a lot of great songs on that list," Grace said optimistically as Mercedes nodded.
"Well I certainly hope there are. If we don't place at Regionals, Glee Club is over and we can't place at Regionals if we can't get 12 members," Mr. Schue said as he then let the New Directions go, ending the meeting.
As they left Quinn, Brittany, and Santana were waiting outside the choir room with a newly made CD.
"What are you doing here?" Grace asked her twin, surprised.
"Doing what I should have done a long time ago…I'm trying out for the New Directions," Quinn smiled innocently which made Finn smile at her.
"You are? That's amazing," Finn grinned, hugging her.
"Yeah well you inspired me," Quinn said seriously as she let him go as she, Brittany, and Santana entered the choir room for their audition.
"Mr. Schuester?" Quinn called out. "
Hi Quinn," Mr. Schue said as he then noticed Brittany and Santana with "And Brittany and Santana, how can I help you?"
"We'd like to try out for the New Directions," Brittany said seriously as Mr. Schue looked surprised.
"I have to say, I'm really surprised you guys are trying out," Mr. Schue said honestly.
"I'm sure you've read about this in the school paper. Finn and I have been an item for a while now. So what kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't support him?" Quinn smiled fakely.
"Well, let's see what you've got," Will nodded as he pressed play on the CD player as 'I Say a Little Prayer' began to play.
Brittany and Santana:
Say a little prayer for you
Quinn (Brittany and Santana):
The moment I wake up
Before I put on my make-up (Make-up)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
While combing my hair now
And wondering what dress to wear now (Wear now)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
Quinn with Brittany and Santana:
Forever, forever
You'll stay in my heart
And I will love you
Forever and ever
We never will part
Oh, how I love you
Together, together
That's how it must be
To live without you (Brittany and Santana: Would only mean)
Heartbreak for me
Quinn (Brittany and Santana):
I run for the bus dear
While riding, I think of us dear (Us dear)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
At work, I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time (Break time)
I say a little (Prayer for you)
Quinn with Brittany and Santana:
Forever, forever
You'll stay in my heart
And I will love you
Forever and ever
We never will part
Oh how I love you
Together, together
That's how it must be
To live without you (Brittany and Santana: Would only mean)
Heartbreak for me
Quinn took the lead vocals singing with Brittany and Santana backing her up as the 3 girls did their choreography perfectly in sync, something Mr. Schue clearly noticed and realized how lucky he was to have them be a part of the New Directions, not only could they all sing but they could dance. As the 3 girls finished their number in a triumphant pose, Mr. Schue couldn't help but clap for them "Welcome to the Glee Club."
The Unholy Trinity quickly celebrated but knew their toughest task was up ahead, telling Sue Sylvester that they had joined the enemy, the club she had wanted to tear apart, especially since the Cheerios dry cleaning budget had been cut for them, the Glee Club.
