Chapter 15:

Glorious Mudbray

Location: Heahea City

With Zygarde Cube in hand, it was time to head on north to Brooklet Hill for my next trail. Hau had already gone ahead of me for some extra training, so that left me and Rotom Dex.

"Good luck again," said Sina. "And don't hesitate to call us if anything goes on."

"And when you make it to Ula'ula Island, visit us on Route 16," Dexio commented.

I nodded. "You're on. I'll look for as many as I can."

"We'll be on the lookout! Roto!"

Location: Route 4

Route 4. It was lush with a dirty path. Paniola Town wasn't far at all thankfully.

I walked through the tall grass and came across my first Pokémon of Akala Island. It was brown with hooves and looked very muddy.

Mudbray (ドロバンコ)

The mud stuck to Mudbray's hooves enhances its grip and its powerful running gait.

"Go Slowpoke!" I shouted. Mudbray stomped on the ground, making it shake a bit.

"It'zz uzzing Bulldozze! Roto! It'zz a Ground Type move that lowerzz Speed!"

That didn't matter much for Slowpoke. "Use Water Gun!" Slowpoke sprayed water at Mudbray for lots of damage. Then, Mudbray flicked mud at Slowpoke. "It's using Mud Slap! Slowpoke, one more Water Gun!" Slowpoke shot more water at Mudbray, knocking it out. I congratulated Slowpoke and continued on my way.

I walked down the path and came across a Bellhop.

"Work at the Grand Halo Resort is tiring. Maybe a battle will get me back in the game!"

"Go Drifloon!" Jody shouted, sending out a round-pink Pokémon with two strings coming down. It had a yellow X on its face.

If for some reason its body bursts, its soul spills out with a screaming sound.

"I choose Torracat!" I shouted. "Use Fire Fang!" Torracat's teeth were set ablaze and it chomped down on Drifloon, almost popping the poor thing.

"Use Gust!" Drifloon span round, creating some wind that blew away Torracat a bit.

"Come back with another Fire Fang!" Torracat chomped down again. This time Drifloon was knocked out, but not without exploding first.

"Zzt! It'zz Drifloon'zz Ability, Aftermath! It doezz damage when it'zz knocked out!"

"Yeah! I think I'm back in the swing of things now!"

With my first victory out the way, I walked up a slope. When I got to the top, I saw something sparkling on the ground.

"Izz that…" Rotom Dex asked.

I went over to it and got out the Zygarde Cube. Sure enough, it was! A Zygarde Cell! It went inside. "Alright! Now we got two!"

Down the road, I came across my next Trainer; a Collector.

"I wanna catch em all!"

Elliott Vs. Collector Bryan

"Go Munchlax!" Bryan shouted.

"And I choose Makuhita!" I replied. "Alright! A Normal Type! I know it's time for!" Me and Makuhita put both our hands in front. "With all our might and gut…" We started punching. "ALL. OUT. PUMELLING!" After one last punch, Makuhita went over to Munchlax and started punching it multiple times. After one last wallop, Munchlax was down.

"Nizze one Makuhita! Zzt!"

"Okay then, time for my next Pokémon. Go Bagon!" Out came a blue Dragon Type with a white streak on its head.

Whenever it sees a bird Pokémon flying through the sky, it becomes envious and smashes its surroundings to bits with headbutts.

"Thanks Makuhita," I said. "Go Munchlax!"

"Bagon, Bite!" Bagon leaped over and chomped down on Munchlax's arm.

In retaliation, Munchlax started punching at Bagon. "What's that move Rotom?"

"Zzt. It'zz Chip Away! It ignores defensive boosts! Roto!"

"Great job!" I told Munchlax.

"Now use Dragonbreath!" Bagon breathed purple energy at Munchlax.

"Do or die Munchlax! Metronome!" Munchlax waggled its finger, and it came out as… Thunder Punch. The bad news was that it wasn't very effective. The good news? It paralyzed Bagon! "Great one Munchlax! Now use Chip Away!" Munchlax once again started punching Bagon. It was down.

"Looks like I'll need to catch a few more."

There wasn't far to go to Paniola Town, and my team was doing very well. All whilst I walked down Route 4, I thought about what I had come across, but not too much what I will come across; that would ruin the surprise!

Maybe I should have thought a bit however, because a Sightseer saw me.

"I came from Cerulean City to check out the region!"

Elliott Vs. Sightseer Scotty

"Rattata, go!" Scotty shouted. This was the regular purple Rattata seen in Kanto, Johto and Unova.

This Pokémon is common but hazardous. Its sharp incisors can easily cut right through wood.

"Hey, I'm familiar with that one! Okay Makuhita, go!" Out came my Fighting Type.

"Use Quick Attack!" Rattata dashed into Makuhita for little damage.

"Come back with Force Palm!" Makuhita grabbed Rattata by the head and tightened its grip. It knocked out Rattata in one.

"Hey, you're from Kanto to? Cool!"

At this point, Paniola Town was in sight. It looked to be a bunch of wooden buildings with an old western windmill on it. The only thing separating me from that was a patch of tall grass, so I walked in. Naturally, out jumped a Pokémon. It was small, brown and fluffy.

This Pokémon is popular with beginners because it's intelligent, obedient to its Trainer's commands, and easy to raise.

"Go Torracat!" I shouted. As soon as Torracat was sent out, it roared loudy. It scared the poor Lillipup away.

"That wazz Roar! Roto! It can make wild Pokémon flee and forzze a Trainer to switch their current Pokémon! Zzt!"

Location: Painola Town

At long last, I had made it to Paniola Town. Thankfully, Hau was waiting for me. The town was just like the set on an old west movie. There were people herding Pokémon such as Tauros and Miltank, a pink Pokémon with large-yellow udders.

Milk Cow Pokémon

Its milk is high in calories and packed with nutrients. Therefore, if you drink too much of it, you may wind up with a body like Miltank's.

Miltank has no known evolutions.

"Alola!" Hau said. "I was waitin for ya." He looked around. "Yee haw! It's like the old west! Hold on." Hau quickly healed my Pokémon. "Yeah, that's great. So, you wanna showdown!"

I tipped my hat. "You're on."

"It'zz time for a rootin tootin battle! Roto!"

Elliott Vs. Hau

"Okay Crabrawler, you're first!" Out came Hau's Fighting Type.

"Then I'm using Trumbeak!" I shouted. "Use Pluck!" Trumbeak darted forward and jabbed Crabrawler with its beak.

"Come back with Bubble Beam!" Crabrawler fired a jet of bubbles at Trumbeak. It didn't do that much, but Trumbeak's Speed fell.

"Use another Pluck!" Trumbeak used Pluck once again, knocking out Crabrawler.

"Well, it seems it might be time for my new Pokémon. Go Eevee!" Out came the brown-fluffy cutie.

Current studies show it can evolve into an incredible eight different species of Pokémon.

"Thanks," I told Trumbeak. "Okay Makuhita, you're up!" Out came my Fighting Type. "Start with Fake Out!" Makuhita clapped in front of Eevee, forcing it to flinch.

"Doesn't matter," said Hau, putting both hands in front. Both he and Eevee started glowing. Eevee managed to get on two legs and do the square shape. "It's time for a basic bashing. BREAKNECK BLITZ EEVEE!" With all its speed, Eevee dashed into Makuhita, doing about half damage to it.

"Nice Z-Move!" I shouted.

"He'z really conquered it! Zzt!"

"Now Force Palm!" Makuhita grabbed Eevee, and tightened its grip. Eevee fainted.

"I'm not done yet! Go Dartrix!" Out came Hau's partner. "Use Peck!" Dartrix went up to Makuhita and hit it with its beak. In retaliation, Makuhita let out some wind. No, not like that. That's disgusting. Dartrix was sent back.

"Makuhita hazz learned Whirlwind! Roto! It actzz the same azz Roar!"

Out came Pikachu. "No biggie, we've still got this. Pikachu, Electro Ball!" Pikachu fired a ball of electricity at Makuhita. It was a Critical Hit that knocked it out.

"Thanks," I told Makuhita. "Okay Misdreavus, go!" I shouted.

"Use Electro Ball again!" Pikachu fired another ball of electricity. It hit Misdreavus.

"Use Confuse Ray!" Misdreavus let out a weird ray of energy, causing Pikachu to become confused.

"Pikachu, snap out of it! Use Thundershock!" However, Pikachu hit itself instead.

"Now use Astonish!" Misdreavus scared Pikachu. However, in doing so, it became paralyzed.

"Oh no! Roto! That muzzt be Static, Pikachu's Ability! It meanzz that if a direct hit izz succezzful, the uzzer might become paralyzzzed! Roto!"

Deciding enough was enough, I recalled Misdreavus in favour for Munchlax. Pikachu hurt itself again the next turn but snapped out of its confusion the turn afterwards. "Great! Now give Munchlax a dose of your Electro Ball!" Pikachu fired the ball of electricity at Munchlax, who fell back slightly.

"Chip Away!" I shouted. Munchlax punched Pikachu, knocking it out.

"Good one so far. Okay Dartrix, it's your turn again!" Out came Hau's Grass Type.

"Thanks," I told Munchlax, recalling it. "Torracat, go!" It was Fire Vs. Grass.

"Dartrix, Peck!" Dartrix hit Torracat with its beak.

"Now use Fire Fang!" Torracat chomped down on Dartrix with its flaming fangs.

"Now use Razor Leaf!" Dartrix fired sharp leaves at Torracat. It wasn't very effective.

"Finish with one more Fire Fang!" Torracat did just that. Fire Fang hit, and Dartrix was down.

"Well, that was a fun match pardner!" Hau said. "But it still seems I have some work to do before I can beat ya!"

"Yeah," I said. "Okay, let's take some rest. We need it!"

Rotom's Move Dex!

Zzt. What a day! Elliott found a new Pokémon, a Mudbray! Roto! Mudbray izz a Ground Type, so let'zz look at a Ground Type move. Specifically,

Sand Tomb! Roto!

Sand Tomb is an interezzting move in that it can trap the oppozzing Pokémon! Zzt! It actzz like Whirlpool or Fire Spin, but izz a Ground Type move! What an annoyance for the oppozzition aye?

Pokémon that can learn Sand Tomb include Trapinch, Diglett (both formzzz) and Sandygast!

Okay, let'zz get outta he- why can't I move. Oh no. I'm trapped in a Sand Tomb! Roto! Get me outta here!
