Hey Guys, took a break from the story since it was the Holidays but now I am back on track! This one is about the argument that took place between the Founders of Hogwarts about who should go to Hogwarts which resulted in the Sorting Hat. The 4 Founders were gathered in a huddle at the edge of the new school they had just opened,

"We have found staff, builders and enchantments- the only thing we need left to decide is what sort of students should go to Hogwarts" Rowena Ravenclaw summed up

"Obviously all students will have to go through a test to see how brave they are" Godric Gryffindor answered immediately.

"I think that only those with pureness in their blood line should attend Hogwarts" Salazar Slytherin interrupted.

"Obviously they should have a practical test to see how high their IQ is." Rowena Ravenclaw chirped in.

"Well I think we should teach all the lot who have their hearts in their right place!" Helga Hufflepuff confidently stated.

They all stared at each other thinking about who should make the final decision. Tension was building in the previously relaxed room and the 4 friends were now competitively eyeing each other.

The argument started…

"That's pathetic, who on Earth would be such a softie to let all standards drop and let anyone 'kind' into the school" Slytherin snorted and jeered Hufflepuff.

"Well I think that you have to be an idiot to only let in those with a pure blood line. That is the least important thing we need to judge. We need to focus more on wits and brains" Rowena Ravenclaw stood up for her bestie Hufflepuff against Slytherin.

The room got louder and louder as a full fight began and everyone shouted at each other.

"That's a terrible idea!"
"No your one is terrible!"
"How could you stoop so low!"
"That's the most ridiculous thing I have heard in years!"
"Well then you have a serious problem!"

"STOP, WE ARE BICKERING LIKE CHILDISH CHILDREN OVER CRAYONS ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WE ARE FULLY GROWN ADULTS WHO SHOULD BE ABLE TO DISAGREE WITH EACH OTHER WITHOUT THE ROOM BURSTING INTO SHOUTING"

It was Helga Hufflepuff who had shouted that. Everyone looked shock that the small timid Hufflepuff could make her voice so terribly loud.

"Well then, what do you suggest we do?" Slytherin sneered at Hufflepuff.

Hufflepuff started to think and silence hung in the room as the other 3 stared at Helga Hufflepuff. After a few minutes of absolute silence, she looked up and began to speak, shyly at first but grew more and more confident,

"We shall each have our own houses which the students are sorted into. Rowena, you can have the smart ones, Godric, you can have the brave ones, Salizar, you can have the ones of noble family, and I'll take the rest as long as they are kind."

Everyone seemed to like this idea of sorting the children into different groups,

"How do you plan to sort them?" Slytherin jeered, still determined to prove that Hufflepuff was wrong.

"I have just the thing! An old hat that looks pretty gothic, it can talk, my father gave it to me as a joke for my child birthday but it turned out that the hat is rather wise, I'm sure we can ask it to be our Sorting Hat." Godric said excitedly.

Everyone seemed to like the idea of a mysterious hat deciding where to put the child.

"Dibs yellow as House colour!" Helga Hufflepuff said rapidly
"Dibs Blue!" Ravenclaw replied
"I shall have green, the grandest colour" Slytherin added sulkily
"That leaves me with my favourite colour, red!" Godric Gryffindor said

"We should totally give our Houses animal signs to represent them, I'll be lion!" Godric exclaimed
"I will be a serpent" Slytherin said with relish
"I will be an Eagle, despite my name being RAVENclaw just to confuse things" Ravenclaw added
"I will be a badger because they are kind hearted little animals" Hufflepuff said with spirit

The friends grinned at each other and started to talk about something completely different.
