"Kurt Hummel, I swear if you text me one more damn time!" Mercedes growled as she walked into the kitchen of the bed and breakfast they rented out for the wedding and wedding party and grabbed herself a water bottle.
"Trouble in maid of honor paradise?" Sam said, scaring Mercedes as he did.
"What are you doing down here?"
Sam pointed to his plate, where he was eating one of the salted caramel cupcakes. "Had a craving after I checked in on Ari, and that girl had such a fun day."
"We all did," Mercedes said, sitting next to him. She opened her mouth so he could give her a bite.
Sam smiled, feeding her some, and took his own. "I told Callie I was really excited for the times that we get to take Ari to a bunch of different places."
Mercedes swiped some icing as she nodded. "I was telling Henry that too."
"I like him; he seems really good for you," Sam said genuinely.
"Callie is great for you and so good with Ari; I gotta say you chose well this time."
Sam smiled. "As opposed to Erin."
"And we were having such a good conversation." Mercedes sighed as Sam gave her the last bite. Taking it, she licked her lips as he put the plate in the sink, and Mercedes followed him up to check on Ari.
Opening the door, Mercedes smiled as the little girl slept soundly. "We certainly did something right here."
Sam nodded. "Yes we did. That girl in there is my heart, and her mom is too." He added softly.
Mercedes looked at him. "You are a smooth talker, you know that, Evans?"
Sam turned towards her and smiled. "I guess I am just getting better with age. Here you have a little something." Sam moved hair off of her lips and smiled as he caressed her face. "Still just as beautiful."
"Sam…" Mercedes whispered as he leaned in and kissed her softly.
She pressed herself against him, kissing him soundly as he ran his hands up her body. After a few moments, she pulled away, pressing her hands against his chest. "Sam…Sam, we can't…."
Sam placed his forehead against hers. "I know…but I want to, I always want to."
Mercedes stared at him, fighting the urge to kiss him again, when her phone started to vibrate. "It's Kurt…I should go."
"Can we please talk about this…"
"About what?"
Sam sighed, running his hands through his hair. "About the fact that you still love me. I see it; I felt it, and I felt it in my soul all day today."
"I…Sam, I gotta go." She pushed away from and walked down the hall.
Sam looked over at Ari as she slept. "I wish I knew what to do, sweet girl. I love her, but I really care about Callie, and I just want to do right by you."
"Mommy, look, I'm a princess!" Ari sang as she spun around in her dress. The tank top pink princess tule skirted dress was a sheer rainbow of yellow, green, pink, and blue with beautiful embroidered flowers. She wore a beautiful pair of pink flats and a flower crown atop her curls.
"You look so beautiful, princess. Daddy is going to flip out when he sees you!"
"Merce, you look just as beautiful. This bridesmaid dress you maid for yourself is just gorgeous." Quinn said, zipping her up.
Mercedes sighed, turning to the mirror as she looked down at the Mermaid lace Arabic floor-length dress, long sleeve sheer sleeves, and beautiful rose gold colored embroiled flowers. The dress fit her curves like a glove, and showing off her curves but not taking away from the sheer beauty.
"Wow…" Sam breathed, standing at the door. He stood wearing a dark blue tux which matched the sheer blue in Ari's dress, with a crisp white shirt and rose gold tie that matched Mercedes's dress. Anyone who saw the three would automatically know that they were not only maid of honor, best man, and flower girl but also a united family.
"Daddy, daddy, we are pretty!" Ari said happily.
Sam smiled, bending down and picking her up. "You are beautiful. You both are." Sam blinked a few times. "You look nice too, Quinn.
Quinn laughed, looking down at her gold above-the-knee tulle skirt dress that dipped low in the back. "Please don't flatter me; I know you are just being nice." She laughed. "I will meet you in Kurt's room Merce."
"Thanks for coming to get Ari, Sam. Q and I were about to meet Santana in Kurt's room."
Sam smiled. "She was helping me get B ready, and she invited Dani, which I gotta say I like her."
Mercedes laughed. "For someone who didn't like Santana when he first met her, you are invested in her love life."
"I just want her happy, okay?" He laughed.
"Knock, Knock?"
Mercedes looked up to see Henry and Callie walk in. Mercedes smiled. "Callie, you look beautiful." She said, admiring the blush pink short off-the-shoulder dress the blonde wore. Mercedes always thought she looked a bit like Britt Robertson, and Sam was very lucky.
"Me?! Mercedes, you look more like a fashion model than a designer. You look gorgeous, and Princess Ari, you look amazing!"
Henry smiled, kissing Mercedes softly. "You look amazing, my Queen. Gorgeous."
"Thank you, handsome."
He turned towards Sam. "Princess Ari, you look beautiful. You look handsome too, Sam, can't have the women getting all the love."
"Dude, you look like you stepped out of GQ." Sam boasted.
Mercedes and Callie giggled as the men continued. "I swear I can't take you two anywhere." Mercedes shook her head. "Come let me kiss Ari before you take her with you, Sam."
Sam moved closer to her, and Mercedes kissed the little girl as the photographer walked in and smiled. "Oh wow, can I get a photo of the perfect family?"
Mercedes turned and frowned. "Oh, umm no, we aren't…."
"We can't-"
"Come on. You just stand right here." He said, moving Mercedes slightly closer to Sam and smiled, stepping back as he took a few photos. "Perfect."
After he was done, there was a slight awkwardness between the foursome, and Mercedes smiled. "Well, I need to get to Kurt."
Henry kissed her cheek as they walked out of the room and smiled. "Callie, let's get to the open bar."
Callie kissed Sam and followed Henry as Sam turned to Mercedes. "Hey, so we didn't get a chance to talk about last night."
"Nothing happened last night. So there is nothing to talk about."
Sam sighed. "Mercedes…I just want to talk to you. Want to see where your head is."
"My head is on the wedding; this is Blaine and Kurt's day; we can figure everything else out later. I have to go. Bye, sweet girl."
Mercedes swallowed as she nervously walked down the makeshift aisle. She clung to the flowers, watching as Ari and Sam finished walking, he helped her throw out the flowers, and she proudly put her arms out for him to hold her when she was finished, not wanting to go to anyone else.
Mercedes could feel Sam's eyes on her as she walked towards the front, she wished she could look away from him, but in the end, she couldn't. Seeing him and Ari standing down that aisle was like having a premonition about her future. She willed her eyes to look at Henry; he was her boyfriend, someone she loved and cared about. But Sam had her heart, sadly and truly.
As she stopped at the end, she leaned up and kissed Ari, who happily accepted the kiss and then stood as she waited for Kurt and Blaine to walk down the aisle.
The whole wedding kind of went by in a blur for her; the only thing she could think of was Sam. Him holding Ari, kissing her curls as they watched Blaine and Kurt. Sam caught her watching him and smirking. Hearing Kurt and Blaine say their vows and looking over to see Sam with a lustful but wishful look on his face as he watched her.
She knew what he was thinking; she knew that he wanted this to be them. She knew because in her heart of hearts, a place she didn't dare think on too long, she wanted it to be them too. Tearing her eyes away from him, she looked over to Henry, who was focused on Kurt, and Blaine then looked at her and smiled. He was so perfect for her; he really was.
But her eyes drifted back to Sam, catching him staring at her. He gave her another knowing look, and she exhaled. This man was going to be the death of her. Well, of her heart, at least.
As the ceremony ended, Mercedes and Sam walked side by side down the aisle; after Kurt and Blaine, Sam leaned into her. "You really are beautiful, Mercedes. And that dress on you…you better be lucky I have our daughter sleeping on me right now."
She giggled, shaking her head. "I am telling Callie if you keep flirting with me."
Sam snorted. "I am going to see if my mom can keep an eye on Ari so we can talk."
Mercedes shook her head. "We don't need to talk; we need to focus on being the maid of honor and best man."
"You know those two typically end up having slutty wedding sex." He whispered the last part.
Mercedes rolled her eyes, kissing Ari as she made her way over to Kurt, hugging him as Sam carried Ari over to his parents and Mercedes.
"You know, this whole co-parent thing is cute and all, but when are you gonna make an honest woman out of that baby momma of yours," Dwight said, taking Ari out of his hands.
"Dad, she's dating Henry, and I am dating Callie; things are finally okay with us; I don't…."
"I told you he was being a coward," Amelia said, sitting next to Mary. "They both are. You know we saw you two during the ceremony eyeing each other, looking like you were two seconds away from ripping each other apart."
Mary laughed, and Richard grumbled. "I don't want to think about that. But you are right. You two are playing way too many games, and my grandbaby needs siblings."
Sam ran his hand through his hair. "We broke up; it happens, you know most parents would say we were being mature. Handling this correctly."
"You are, son," Dwight said. "For idiots. We all can see how much you still love each other."
Mercedes walked over and smiled. "Why hello, parentals." She kissed her mom, then Mary did the same with her dad and Dwight. "The groom needs to see you, sir." She said, smiling at Sam.
"Sam, if you get Ari's bag, we can take her for the night. We don't get to see her often." Mary said.
"Thank you guys for taking her; who knows what crazy things these grooms are gonna make us do at this thing."
"Not a problem between your parents and us; we can take her for the rest of the week and give you two a chance to talk."
Mercedes looked at Sam. "Talk?"
He rolled his eyes. "Nothing. But that will be great, and I can take Callie out and not feel bad for pawning her on Mercedes."
"When do you feel bad?" Mercedes teased.
Sam mocked her, and Mercedes looked back at her parents. "I can pack her bag and have it ready for you in a few. I will be back." She smiled.
As she walked away, Dwight looked at Sam. "Looks like no better time to talk to her than now."
Sam watched Mercedes walk towards the house, and he sighed, running his hand through his hair. Making his way to the house, he smiled, seeing Santana and Dani laughing and drinking champagne.
"Where you off, too guppy lips? Trailing off after Cedes and that booty?"
"Stop looking at my girl's ass Santana."
"She's not your girl." Santana teased. "Your girl is looking for you."
Sam sighed, turning and seeing Callie talking to Henry and looking around. "I just need like 20 minutes to talk to Mercy."
"What's in it for me?" Santana asked, laughing.
"We had a moment picking out food, and we kissed last night. I need to know if it was just wedding day kisses or if she still loves me."
Santana sighed. "Go before I change my mind. Dani, you saw nothing." Dani raised her hand with a smile.
"I saw nothing…heard a few things, though." She mumbled.
Sam smiled, walking into the house and towards Mercedes's room. Knocking on the door, he opened it, seeing her bent over. "Damn baby…here I am, trying to be a gentleman, and you just present yourself to me like that?"
Mercedes giggled, standing as she showed him Ari's stuffed Unicorn. "Uni fell under the bed. And we both know she goes nowhere without Uni."
Sam nodded, closing the door as he stepped fully into the room. "So, have you and Henry decided what you are gonna do, being child-free and all?"
"Sam, we literally just became child-free. But I dunno, and we might stay up here and take advantage of this place. Do things couples do."
Sam nodded. "Like have sex."
Mercedes turned to him, and Sam threw his hands up. "Not trying to be nosy or anything. I think Callie thinks we are gonna have sex. And I mean, she's beautiful and attractive to me, and it's been about 8 months, but I can't stop thinking about the last woman I felt in my arms, and every time we get to that point, I feel so guilty."
Mercedes stared at him. "I feel the same way, every time Henry and I…I think of you. Man, I thought getting over you was the hardest thing I had to do…but it's like you are a drug, and I don't want any other drug…maybe our problem is we just need to focus on only Callie and Henry, and maybe things will change."
Sam locked the door before walking towards her. "Sound logic; it's pretty decent advice."
"Decent?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
Sam nodded. "I mean, there could be another way to look at it."
She turned away from him, finishing packing Ari's bag. "And what's that?"
Moving behind her, he pulled her up to him, holding her backside to his front as he whispered into her ear. "Maybe we just need to get out of each other's systems. I know you felt it last night and yesterday, and any damn time we are close. This pull to be in my arms."
Sam moved his hand down her waist. "As good as Henry makes you feel, one touch can't set you off like this. I know because it's the same for me."
"Sam, I…" She didn't even know what to say.
Sam kissed a trail up her neck. "Tell me, at that ceremony, you didn't feel like the real family we are? That standing up there listening to Kurt and Blaine didn't make you wish it was us? That this moment feels right."
She swallowed as his hands moved down her curves. "I bet you are dripping at the thought of me touching you, tasting you, filling you."
She shuttered. "It doesn't matter; we can't do this." She said barely above a whisper. "I love Henry, and you love Callie."
"I do. I didn't think I could love anyone other than you, but I am not in love with her. I wanted to be, I tried to be, but I am and have always been in love with you."
Mercedes leaned against Sam. "I wish I knew what to do."
"Me too, but I don't. I just know that I want you in the worst way. I can feel how much your body wants me."
Sam ran his hands back up her body and went to move the zipper of her dress down. Kissing her exposed skin as he did.
Her body was alive with anticipation as he turned her and slowly removed her dress.
"Sam, what are you doing?"
"Giving in." He simply said as he gently put her dress on the chair and then took off his tux.
Mercedes was transfixed. Standing there in her bra and panties that matched her dress, watching Sam peel off his clothes. "Sam, I am not sure we should be doing this."
"How loud does he make you scream?" Sam asked, not a hint of jealousy in his voice; he was on a mission. A mission to prove they still belonged together; he was still the one for her.
"He makes me moan, but not scream." she said with a smirk, knowing she was issuing Sam a challenge as he finished undressing.
"Get on the bed. Now," he growled. "It's time I defended my title."
Her feet moved before her mind and body could even comprehend what was happening.
The moment she sat on the bed, Sam pounced on her like a lion after his prey. He stared down at her nipping her lips, before kissing her passionately, deeply.
Mercedes pulled her lips away, nipping at his lips as his hands gripped her thighs. "How far have you and Callie gone?" She asked, the same challenge reflecting in her eyes.
"Same, as you guys…never farther."
Mercedes smirked. "And does she make you weak in the knees?"
Sam shrugged, "Not like you used to, though I dunno if you still got it."
Mercedes licked her lips. "Oh, those are fighting words." She said, kissing him as the outside world moved on while they were on their own. "Don't move; we are gonna settle this in one of our favorite old positions. See who cums first." She said, and Sam growled.
Mercedes moved off of him, turning around and climbing back on top of the sixty-nine position. Her hand went immediately to his cock, mouth-watering as Sam gripped her ass with a groan.
Mercedes ran her tongue over the tip of his cock as he ran his from her clit to her slit, gripping her ass cheeks on a mission. As good as she felt, he wanted to make her fall apart for him. Only him. The same way she wanted that for her.
The room was filled with screams and moans as Sam and Mercedes worked to bring each other to the edge, both so close, both needing the relief at the end of their orgasms; Mercedes whimpered and moaned around Sam's shaft causing the vibrations to push him further, as he tongue fucked her with a passion he hadn't had in months.
Sam hungrily attacked her core on a mission to make her fall first, as she was on that same mission, and both fell over that blissful edge at the same time, cumming hard for each other, with each other. Sam moved her off of him and flipped her around so he could face her, barely registering anything but her. He was inside of her in one swift motion as she held on to him.
"Sam!"
"You feel…God, you feel incredible. I love you, Merce. We fit so perfectly."
Mercedes nodded. "I love you too, Sam. I love you." She whimpered as he took her higher and higher, Not stopping until they both crashed over that edge again.
Sam didn't know what was happening, how he was still ready and desperate for her after cumming twice, but he was, and it seemed she was just as hot for him, flipping them so she was on top and sinking down to get her to fill.
"So big still! Oh God, I've wanted you since the moment I walked out." Mercedes confessed as Sam took her lips in his, letting her set the pace and ride him. Her body was his at that moment, and nothing else mattered.
Mercedes checked herself out in her compact mirror for the third time, wanting to make sure nothing was severely out of place. Her body was still on fire from being with Sam, and a completely irrational part of her wished she was still in that room, locked away with him. As she looked to the dance floor, she felt Sam's hand graze her backside.
"Should we be upset they are so into each other they haven't even missed us?" Sam teased as he pointed to Henry and Callie dancing together. "I say we join them."
Mercedes looked at him. "You are crazy, Evans, after what we just did…I…no. Besides, we should talk about what happened instead of dancing like nothing did."
"I don't want to talk, I just want to let what happened sink in, and then we can talk."
"No, Sam, we just… I think we should talk."
Sam smirked. "No?" He took her hand and led her to the dance floor, twirling her around the floor.
Mercedes hated how natural it all felt because it meant that she was probably gonna end up hurting someone who didn't deserve it. She watched as Henry dipped Callie and Sam smiled widely.
"I see we have been challenged," Sam said to Mercedes. He dipped Mercedes low as they heard a bunch of people catcall them, and Henry threw his hands up.
"You win. Can I have my date back?"
Sam nodded. "For now. But I may need my dance partner back."
Callie smiled, going into Sam's arms. "I dunno Mercedes; Henry seems to have better moves than Sam."
Mercedes looked over to Sam and blushed. "I dunno about that."
Henry pulled her close. "You were gone for a while."
"We had to get Ari ready; she is staying with her grandparents this week, and they are taking turns to keep her."
He nodded. "Mmm, so does that mean we get some alone time?"
"Uh yeah… about that."
Mercedes looked over to Sam and back at Henry, but Quinn pulled her and Callie away from Sam and Henry before she could speak.
"Time for Kurt to toss the bouquet; you know he wasn't giving that up!" She laughed.
Mercedes tried to stay, but soon Santana and Dani grabbed her too. As they walked out to the dance floor, she looked back between Sam and Henry.
Standing in between everyone, she sighed heavily as the bouquet was tossed and landed right in her hands.
"What the hell!" Santana said.
Mercedes handed it towards her. "Here, I don't want it."
"Nope, it's yours; those are the rules." Dani slurred with a tease. "Now, to see who the lucky man is that you are gonna marry, rules state the woman and man who catch the garter and bouquet end up together."
Mercedes rolled her eyes, walking off the dance floor, and Henry smiled. "Looks like I gotta make sure I get the garter; I can't have you marrying another man."
Mercedes' eyes locked with Sam's, and she laughed. "It's just wedding mumbo jumbo, you know."
Henry nodded. "I know; it's just words, like saying the best man and maid of honor will have slutty wedding sex." Mercedes's face dropped as he continued. "We all know that's not gonna happen; the only slutty wedding sex you will be having is with me…hopefully."
Finn walked over and grabbed Sam and Henry, bringing them to the center of the floor as Callie looked at her. "You and Henry gonna sneak away and have slutty wedding sex? I am thinking of pulling Sam away."
Mercedes's face dropped, and Callie sighed. "I'm sorry. I know that we shouldn't talk like this, and I just feel like we are really good friends, you know."
"Yeah, but you and Sam having sex is just not something I think about."
"It's all we can think about; we talk about it all the time. The man is dirty."
Mercedes rolled her eyes, trying to force a smile. "It's fine."
She looked over to Sam and Henry, determined to figure out what she wanted; two couples and four lives were involved in this. She stood back, unsure who she wanted to get the garter, and decided there should be no one. Hopefully, some random got it so the dance between them wouldn't be as awkward as dancing with Sam or Henry.
Santana walked over to her and nudged her. "So, how did the conversation with Sam go?"
Mercedes sighed, looking at Callie taking a shot with Dani. "We had…sex…how amazing, mind-blowing sex." She whispered.
"Everyone loves slutty wedding sex." Santana teased.
Mercedes snorted but froze when Sam's hand raised into the air and caught the garter. Santana nudged her. "Two for two, huh?"
Quinn smiled into the microphone. "Well, it looks like the maid of honor and the best man on us a dance!"
Santana pushed Mercedes out into the dance floor, and Henry smirked at her as he walked past. Sam took Mercedes's hand as "All of Me" by John Legend started to play. She looked at Sam shaking her head.
"You did this, didn't you?"
He shrugged as he pulled her close. "Maybe."
She watched as all eyes were on them and closed her eyes. "This is…we shouldn't be dancing not to this."
"Why? Because you feel that this was the way it was supposed to be. Because this song, it describes how I feel, Merce. All of me loves all of you." He sang with the music. "All your curves and imperfections…."
"Sam…"
He smiled. "I know why you don't want to be with me, but that doesn't mean that I am not going to prove that I deserve another chance. That I have learned from my mistakes. Take me back, Merce."
She let him spin her in his arms as others joined them on the dance floor. "Meet me tonight."
"Sam Callie is planning on sleeping with you tonight." Mercedes breathed.
"Well, I am planning on sleeping with you." Sam swallowed staring at her. "I plan on marrying you."
"What?"
Sam smiled down at her. "Marry me, Mercedes. Marry me."
She stood frozen, staring at him as a pair of hands pulled her close.
"All right, best man, go get your own girl. This one is mine."
Mercedes continued to stare at Sam as Henry pulled her away.
Sam mouthed, "Tonight."
