(Early Authors Note: Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. A new chapter has finally been written in the Tale of the Spacefarers. I just want to apologize for the long wait, and I hope this nice chapter will smooth over any frustrations.
To Aisen546: Honestly, I have no idea what you mean by emotion regulators. I'm really just going only off of the anime, so if this is from something else, I've never heard of it.
To Deguiahumphrey: I know, right? Olaf sure has a heck of a life to live (until he returns to his own world. If he returns, I should say).
To Dasgun: -_- Am I right?
To 54Godamora: Are our contestants ready? BEGIN!
And let the story begin (again)!)
*Snore*
Olaf was still sleeping (and had been sleeping since getting back to his room). Last night's encounters left him tired and really not up to do any of the paperwork commanders do. It just wasn't his thing.
*Snore*
*Snore*
But Finn (who had just walked in) wasn't having it.
"Hey, Olaf. Could you wake up please? It's almost midday. Olaf? Olaf! OLAF, WAKE THE BLOODY HELL UP!"
Just like that, Olaf shot up like a bullet and suckerpunched Finn right in the gut. "Oh! S-sorry Finn, hehehe. That aside…" he then punched him again. "WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?!"
Their noise woke up most of the (more sleepy-headed) ships and soon a crowd started to form, but Kyle pushed his way through, saying "Alright, alright, break it all up! The commander just likes to sleep. Move along!"
Olaf then pushed them all out, closed (and locked) the door, and got ready for the day. "*Sigh* The nerve of some people…" he muttered. He's now their commander! Of course, he didn't really want the position, but, you might as well play the cards you're given. Once he got ready, he opened the door and headed to get brunch.
Since most of the shipgirls had already eaten, the cafeteria was mostly empty. So a nice, quiet meal was already underway when… they showed up.
"ACK! Watch it, Laffey! Be more careful in your sleepwalking."
"She shouldn't be sleepwalking at all!"
"Hey, look. It's the Commander."
At that, Ayanami, Javelin, Laffey and Z23 all looked and saw Olaf looking at them like, "What? I'm just eating brunch. Shouldn't you have classes, or something?"
Javelin chuckled before saying "Oh, right. Well, you see… Laffey kinda slept in as late as you-er… I mean as late as other ships here, and we kinda had to wait for her. On the bright side, school usually starts a little later nowadays. That's nice! Plus, we're really hungry."
Olaf sighed and said "Alright. Just don't be late, or rather, later than you already are. I may hate school, but the schooling I took is one of the few things that have kept me alive. I have no doubts your school will teach the same. Especially since I'll be teaching. Just don't tell the others. It's supposed to be a surprise."
The shipgirls just look at each other in excitement and quickly eat their meals and bolt off to class.
"Heh… didn't think they'd actually believe me."
Sometime later...
Class finally started and as everyone got to their seats and were still rather bored (it had only been a few days since that epic battle around the Orochi). But when the door blasted open (to the slight aggravation of the teacher) to reveal Olaf, fully armored and wielding a mighty gravity hammer, who said "Alright, training time! Head out to the field, get your weapon of choice, and let's get started! YEAAAAHHHHH!"
He then ran to the other side of the classroom and blasted a hole in the wall (he thought it would be quicker than going back through the whole building).
The shipgirls followed his lead and jumped out with him and followed him up a hill with all sorts of strange weapons they've never even seen before. They all looked super cool, that's for sure. Olaf then faced them and said "Okay, choose your weapons and be ready for some 1v1's! It's high time you learn the ways of the UNSC."
"But, some of these are Covenant weapons, sir." Z23 said as she saw the difference in design. Olaf nodded his head and said "Good eye. If you're going to face the Covenant, you need to use their own weapons if needed. More than once have I been too far from a friendly area to refill my weapons. So, I improvised and used Covenant weapons until then."
Laffey grabbed two SMGs, Ayanami grabbed a energy sword, Z23 grabbed an assault rifle, Javelin grabbed a needler, even Unicorn grabbed a… a brute grenade launcher…? Other students then grabbed their preferred weapon. When everyone had gotten their choice weapon, Olaf announced the first contestants would be Laffey and Z23. In all honesty, Z23 didn't doubt she'd win. After all, Laffey is really just a big sleeper 24/7. So this ought to be easy.
"Begin!" Olaf yelled.
Laffey immediately ran forward and held down the triggers on her guns so hard even she felt like she might break them. Bullets were flying everywhere, some not even anywhere near the intended target, that being Z23. Of course, they were rubber bullets, so everyone was fine. But still, rubber bullets can hurt. Laffey was so wild in her attack that she looked like she just didn't care, she just shot wherever as she spun around like a little tornado.
At the bottom of the hill...
"Hmm, do you hear something, Wales?" Illustrious asked Wales as they sat down for tea. Wales strained her ear and said "Oh. That's just the commander teaching the class. Apparently they're learning to use both UNSC and Covenant weapons. If we can master those, the Covenant forces here won't stand much of a chance. But, if you mean that other noise, then ye-" suddenly, a stray rubber bullet hit her right in the cheek, knocking her over.
Before Illustrious could even react, a small group of stray rubber bullets hit her square in the chest (funnily enough, some actually bounced off her). She then fell over too.
Back with Olaf and the class...
"Hmmm… I'm no expert, but I'm not so sure this is how this is supposed to go…" Olaf said as he surveyed the damage. Laffey was still spinning, other students tried shooting at her to stop, but accidentally hit each other and soon the whole thing turned into a bruising, rubbery battle.
"Y'know what? This is probably good for morale. HAVE AT IT GIRLS!"
Then everyone just went haywire.
Duds, rubber bullets, everything and anything that could shoot something was used. It was actually kind of fun (if you don't mind getting hit by a dud) and cool to watch. Unfortunately for everyone down and around at the bottom of the hill, they were victims of all sorts of stray duds, bullets, etc and etc. Finn and Kyle were fine since they had their armor on, but a lot of the shipgirls were knocked down quickly. Even Enterprise had been hit by not only a barrage of rubber bullets, but then a dud blew up only a few feet away from her.
When the wild attacks subsided, everyone seemed to be alright. The worst they had were some scratches or some bruising, but they mostly felt a lot of anger towards whoever was up on that hill.
When the bullets had finally run out, Olaf (after stepping out from behind a conveniently close-by rock) clapped and said "Amazing, right? How was your first time using my world's weapons?" the class, however, did not respond. Most were either too tired to speak, some were unconscious, others just looked around at all the damage even these rubber bullets and duds could do. Olaf looked around as well and thought for a moment before saying "You know what? Nevermind. Maybe starting with weapons was a bad idea. Lets go full slow ahead next time! Training takes much more than waving guns about! Now, let's head back… before…" but sure enough, Kyle, Finn, and all the others came marching up the hill in a fury.
"O-oh…"
"'Oh' is right! What were you thinking?! They don't even know the first thing about your world's weapons, yet you give them the whole arsenal?" Hornet yells.
"Well, to be fair, we didn't give them the big stuff like rocket-launchers, gravity hammers, or MGs, or flamethrowers, or-" but before Kyle could go on, Finn put his hand over his mouth and said "Not helping."
Belfast then says "With all due respect, commander. I think perhaps the best thing you can do for us is to hunt down the Covenant. You've fought them more than we have, so surely you can find them, alert us, and we can properly deal with them. I just… don't really think teaching is something of your caliber."
Olaf just sighed and said "Fine. Sorry, class, but it looks like my teaching gig was just a one-time thing. But remember what you learned today: you've (sort of) figured out how to use those weapons of ours! Congrats!"
He then nonchalantly walked down the hill, whistling a tune as he went.
Meanwhile, at an unknown place...
"Grrr… how much longer until the portal can be opened?!" Cholok'Atz angrily asks a Grunt engineer.
"O-oh, w-w-well, y'see… i-it's just that we, uh… i-it might take a while, boss. As they say, 'slow days ahead' and all that. B-but we're working on it!" he then sped off (mostly because he didn't want to die).
Cholok just grumbled and wished things would hurry up. It won't be long before either the UNSC and the shipgirls, or the Sirens find him.
(Ending Authors Note: Well, here it is at last. I hope it was good for you guys after so long. I based it a bit off of the Slow Ahead thing the anime did, and I rather like how the chapter turned out. Please review, follow, favorite, and share with others. Bye!)
