A/N: So I suspect that some may feel I'm being unfair to Kimberly here. Just bear in mind that this chapter is from Kira's perspective, and she's predisposed to dislike the girl who broke her mentor's heart.

Disclaimer: For obvious reasons, this chapter borrows more heavily from the canon than my chapters normally do. Everything you recognize is the property of Hasbro, I'm just having fun with it.

Chapter 11: Angel Grove

Kira was surprised to find that the inside of the time jumper was no larger than the inside of an SUV back on Earth. Katie had moved the jumper to the largest storage room near the rear of the Megaship. Since they no longer needed the cargo ship for Maya's portals, Taylor docked with the Dark Fortress so that she could rejoin the others.

"This is cozy," said Kira, looking around. "Leather seats never go out of fashion, do they?"

"It's only for emergency use," said Katie.

"Really? So no taking dates to see Dirty Dancing in theaters?"

The Time Force agent was not amused.

"Just saying. If I had one of these, I'd go to a Beatles concert." Not that she had anyone to take to a concert.

"For emergency use only," Katie reiterated, activating the jumper and pressing several buttons. Yellow energy pulsed outside the jumper, and the ship beyond it was lost in a swirl of fog.

The panel that said 2011 changed to 1996. When the fog cleared, they were in a park, hidden behind a grove of trees. Katie waited for the yellow energy to dissipate before opening her door, and Kira did the same.

"Where are we?"

"Angel Grove."

Kira stared at her. "Angel Grove? As in, where Dr. Oliver went to high school?"

"Exactly. That's why you're here."

"Oh." Kira felt a little nervous. She had already met Dr. and Mrs. O as well as Adam Park, but it would still be surreal seeing them at the time they were all rangers together.

And, of course, she had to avoid doing anything that could change Dr. O's future.

Before she and Katie could get far from the grove of trees, however, robots appeared all around them.

"What the...? I thought Venjix couldn't touch the past?"

"These aren't from Venjix." Katie wasted no time in attacking the robots. "They're cogs, from the Machine Empire."

Kira noticed that these robots didn't move as well as the cyclobots or quantrons did, and she attacked, quickly dropping two. As more of them swarmed, she unleashed her ptera-scream, knocking down a large group.

"A little warning next time," said Katie, shoving a cog so hard it flew into the nearest tree.

"Sorry." Kira spun to take out two more with hard kicks.

Suddenly, four teenagers appeared. Kira immediately recognized Adam despite his younger face and longer hair. The other three she only knew from Dr. O's pictures and stories.

With the help of the present rangers, the remaining cogs were quickly defeated.

"Thanks," said Katie.

One of the new arrivals had stayed behind the other three, and watched Katie and Kira with a studious gaze behind his glasses. "You two seemed to hold your own quite effectively."

Kira nodded at the speaker, identifying him as Billy. "I guess we did." She was glad the rangers hadn't appeared until after she used her ptera-scream.

"Why did the cogs attack you?" asked the current ranger in blue, Rocky.

Katie shrugged. "We were probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"Where are Tommy and Kat?" Kira asked.

The current rangers exchanged glances. "Tommy's going through a rough time right now," said Adam. "His girlfriend—well, ex-girlfriend now—Kimberly sent him a letter."

Kira frowned. "Kimberly as in your former teammate?" Dr. O had never mentioned that they used to date.

Billy blinked. "Affirmative, though I wonder how you possess such knowledge."

Katie quirked an eyebrow at Kira, then turned to the current yellow ranger. "We need to speak to you and Katherine. Where is she?"

"She's helping Tommy." Tanya gave the others a knowing look. "Why do you need us?"

Kira grabbed Katie's arm and gently tugged backwards, and Katie went with her until the current rangers couldn't overhear. "If this is when Dr. O and Mrs. O's relationship started, we can't get in the way of that."

Katie grimaced. "Maybe you're right." She turned to the current rangers. "Tanya." She beckoned.

Tanya approached. "How do you know us?"

"We're from the future."

Tanya blinked. "What?"

"And we need your help," said Kira.

"But you can't tell the others," added Katie.

"Why me?"

"Because the enemy we're facing can take control of men."

"Oh." Tanya briefly glanced back towards her teammates. "Are you taking me into the future?"

"Yes. We'll be able to bring you right back to this time, seconds after we left."

Tanya took a deep breath. "Okay then." She looked back at the others. "I'll be right back."

Katie led her and Kira back to the time jumper.

"Is this from the Jetsons?" Tanya stared at the machine.

"No," Katie muttered. She opened the doors for Tanya and Kira before climbing in herself. Then she punched the buttons again.

Their location didn't change this time, but the year changed from 1996 to 1993.

Tanya stared at the panel that showed the year. "I thought we were going into the future."

"We need more help," said Katie, getting out of the jumper.

Kira bit her lip. She wasn't keen to meet Kimberly, now knowing what she had done to Dr. O.

Just like before, they made it not quite halfway across the park before they were surrounded, though this time there were no robots. Rather, the attackers were gray humanoids that looked like they were made of clay.

The three yellow rangers made quick work of them, and this time, no current rangers showed up.

"So, you're really strong," said Tanya.

"Yeah," Katie replied. "Which way to Angel Grove High?"

"This way." Tanya led them a few blocks until they arrived at the high school.

It was a more normal-looking building than Reefside High, and Kira recalled what Lily had said about her high school being very fancy. Maybe the cheetah ranger was right.

Inside, Tanya led them to where she knew Billy's locker was, but they didn't find any of the original rangers. She looked at a clock on the wall of the hallway. "They should be between classes right now."

"The cafeteria, maybe?" Kira offered.

No sooner had she said it, however, than yellow energy appeared around her, and she felt the sensation of being teleported. When the yellow energy cleared, she was in a round, futuristic room, and her eyes widened at the large plasma tube in front of her and the massive face floating within it.

"Zordon!" said Tanya.

"That is indeed my name, but I wonder how you know it."

"So do we." The trio of yellow rangers turned to find five teenagers standing behind them. Billy was there again, younger and in blue this time, but it was the red ranger, Jason, who had spoken.

Kira frowned as her gaze landed on Kimberly.

"Who are you guys?" the black ranger, Zack, asked. "We saw you take down those putties like they were nothing."

"I can sense your connection to the Morphing Grid," said Zordon, "and your battle against Rita's putty patrol suggests you're no allies of hers. But she has attempted to deceive us with a corrupted ranger before."

"Yeah, and you're not nearly as handsome as he is," Kimberly added quietly. Kira's jaw clenched.

"Where is Tommy, anyway?" Tanya asked.

Jason's eyes narrowed. "Is he the one you're after? Rita's not getting him back."

"We don't work for Rita," said Kira.

"Prove it," said Zack.

"How?"

"Tell us where you came from," said Jason.

Kira and Katie exchanged a glance. "We'll tell Trini and Kimberly," said Katie.

Kira shook her head. "Just Trini." She didn't think she could fight alongside the other pterodactyl ranger, who would one day break her mentor's heart.

Tanya nodded in agreement, also giving Kimberly a hard look. "Just Trini."

"Why me?" These were the first words the original yellow ranger said to them. She wasn't looking at them suspiciously like her teammates were, but rather inquisitively.

"And why not me?" Kimberly asked, returning the frowns she was getting from Kira and Tanya.

"Rangers!" Zordon interrupted them. "Rita has presented our new arrivals with a chance to prove their allegiance. Behold the viewing globe."

All of the rangers turned to the large globe at the back of the room. More putties were lose in the park, and at the center of them was a monster in gold armor.

"It's Goldar," said Zack.

"Time to go to work," said Jason.

Yellow energy filled Kira's vision again, and she was teleported to the park along with the others.

"It's morphing time!" Jason yelled.

Kira nodded. Zordon had given away the future rangers' connections to the Morphing Grid anyway. "Dino thunder, power up! Ha!"

"Four yellow rangers?" the monster exclaimed, causing the original team to look at the three future rangers in confusion. "Where did you come from?"

"We're from your nightmares, Goldar." Tanya struck a fighting pose.

The monster raised his sword. "Attack!"

The eight rangers went to work. Jason charged at Goldar, but the monster shoved him away and went for the three newcomers instead.

"Chrono Saber!" A double-bladed weapon appeared in Katie's hand, and she used it to parry the monster's sword. Spinning, she struck Goldar with the other end, causing sparks to erupt from the monster's armor.

Goldar growled. "Who are you?"

"Ptera-grips!" Kira summoned her weapon just in time to block as the monster swung his sword towards her. "Super Dino—"

"Hyah!" Out of nowhere, a green ranger leapt into the battle, dagger aimed at Goldar. He wore a large, golden shield around his torso, but Kira was more focused on his familiar voice.

"You're late, Tommy." Goldar swung his sword, and it clashed with the Dragon Dagger.

"I like to make a grand entrance."

Kira smirked. Dr. O loved those cheesy lines.

When the putties were defeated, the nine rangers surrounded Goldar. The monster lowered his sword. "I still want to know where you three came from," he snarled.

"You'll never find out," said Katie.

Goldar growled, but teleported away.

The rangers unmorphed. "Well, I feel more assured in calculating that you don't serve Rita," said Billy.

Kira tried not to stare at Dr. O's hair. She had seen the pictures, of course, but she still nearly laughed out loud seeing it in person.

"And I guess I understand why you only want Trini to go with you," said Kimberly. Even as she spoke to them, she took a step closer to Dr. O, and Kira was no longer at risk of laughing.

"It still doesn't answer the question of where you came from," said Jason.

"Trini." Katie nodded away and stepped out of the circle, and Trini followed her several paces to where they spoke quietly.

When they returned, Trini addressed her teammates. "I have to go with them, but I'll be back soon."

"Go where?" Kimberly asked, and Kira resisted the urge to snap at her.

"I just have to help them deal with something. I promise I'll be right back."

Kimberly looked at Kira and Tanya in turn, and sighed. "Alright."

"Just make sure you're back before Rita decides to send her next attack," said Zack.

"I will be."

Kira cast one last glance at her future-mentor's hair as the four yellow rangers turned and headed deeper into the park, towards where the time jumper was hidden.

Trini fell into step between Kira and Tanya. "So why do you two hate Kimberly?"

Kira sighed. "For something she hasn't done yet."

"But she will," added Tanya.

Trini pursed her lips, but didn't say anything.

Once they were all secure in the jumper, Katie pressed several more buttons this time. The yellow energy and fog returned, and then the year changed from 1993 to 2011.

When they were back aboard the Megaship, Katie and Kira led the two rangers from the past towards the bridge. There, they found the other nine yellow rangers and Tykwa.

"Tanya!" Ashley smiled at her predecessor, who was now barely more than half her age.

"Hi," Tanya replied uncertainly, looking at all of them. She started when she noticed Jun'ga.

"It's an honor to meet you both," said Taylor.

"You're all yellow rangers?" Trini asked.

Kelsey nodded and grinned. "You've got quite the legacy."

"But we can talk about that later," said Summer. "Right now, we've got an army of brainwashed men and robots to deal with."

Kelsey's grin vanished, her face becoming all-business as she nodded.

Taylor looked at Trini again. "Care to do the honors?"

Trini nodded. "It's morphing time! Saber-tooth tiger!"
