Yui looked up at Balder with a mischievous glint in her eye.
"So," she drawled "mind telling me what you guys have been planning?"
Balder froze and looked around at anything but her. "I have no idea what you are talking about."
Yui smirked while leaning back and crossing her arms. "Oh really? Because it seems as though you are nervous." Come on Balder! She thought If anyone is going to crack it's going to be you. Now spill!
Normally she would leave the gods to their own devices and wait for them to tell her, but their strange behavior lasted for a week, two times longer than normal. They even would have given her a hint at this point. Sometimes she could pinpoint back to something she said that triggered the behavior but this time, she had nothing. Besides, it was kind of fun messing with them from time to time.
Balder shook his head and stubbornly mimicked her. Gathering up courage, he looked at her defiantly. "Nervous? Never. Why would I be nervous?" Internally, he was cursing the sweat drop as it appeared on his temple and slowly made its way down his cheek. I can't let her know what's going on. I was sent to distract her! The future of the Gods depends on me!
Yui pursed her lips, an impressed look on her face at his determination and shrugged. "I see, then it shouldn't be an issue if I, say…….. go to the assembly hall?"
Balder began to lunge forward, "NO!" He quickly realized his mistake and covered his mouth with his hands.
She smirked at his reaction. Gotcha, she thought while pointing at the panicked god. "I knew you were hiding something! I've seen you guys sneaking in and out of there with your bags practically about to explode all week!"
Balder looked to Melissa helplessly who just shrugged and continued his cleaning duties which had been interrupted by Balder.
Yui leans in excitedly and begins trying to pry his hands from his mouth. "Come on Balder! You can tell me!"
I'm doomed. Thinks Balder as his vice grip slowly weakens at the human girl's surprising strength and persistence.
A sudden rap at the door had saved Balder from certain doom as Yui pulls back to get up and get it.
As she opens the door, Balder falls on his back in exhaustion.
"Thor-san! What are you doing here?" Yui asks innocently.
Thor raises an eyebrow to look at the collapsed god on the floor and shakes his head. Thank Zeus that I was sent just in time to keep Balder from spilling. Yui really did a number on him. "Hello Yui. I am here for Balder. Zeus received a message from Odin that needs his immediate attention."
Balder sits up and scurries to his feet, silently thanking his mostly quiet savior.
Yui sighs and shakes her head. "I was just about to have a little fun. Oh well, I guess godly duties can't wait til I am done interrogating."
"See you later Yui-san!" exclaims Balder as he rushes out of the room like his life depended on it.
Thor shrugs as Yui waves at the white streak running down the hall.
Thor turns his body to the side and extends his hand. "Zeus also wanted to speak with you."
Nodding, Yui waves to Melissa and shuts the door behind her.
"What does Zeus want?" asks Yui.
Thor just shrugs and continues walking.
Yui peeks at the God of Thunder curiously, "Thor, can I ask you something a little personal?"
He nods stiffly with a hard cold look in his eyes.
"I've been reading up on each of your mythologies lately. The stories of you make you seem…. I don't know, Boisterous? But after meeting you, you're quieter and more reserved than anyone could ever expect. Why is that?"
Thor stops and looks away from her at the beautifully created garden. As he turned, she could have sworn she saw a painful glint in his eye. "I was…… young, loud, thinking nothing could defeat me." He turns back to her hauntingly. "Then, I was defeated." He continues walking leaving Yui to catch up to him after collecting herself.
"Defeated? You mean the Midgard Serpent?"
He nods slightly.
"That story said that you died of poison after defeating the serpent. Your hammer, Mjolnir, was then used by a group of gods to restore order, and your power was divided up between your sons. but obviously, you didn't. You're still a god and I saw a glimpse of your hammer. What happened?"
"I never died. I went into what I believe Thoth called a coma. A few gods did use Mjolnir to restore order, but it was returned to me. As for my sons…..." He looks up towards the school, slowly approaching ahead. "Whom you refer to as my sons got a portion of my power, but not all of it."
"Are they not your sons?"
Thor shook his head. "Not in the way that Apollon and Dionysus are Zeus's sons. Ask Thoth sometime. Gods are complicated beings."
Yui nodded silently not wanting to press anymore. "For what it's worth, you're still alive. That means you were never defeated. At least to me."
Thor stops in his tracks as Yui continues walking lost in her thoughts, or perhaps leaving him in his own. A small smile appeared on his face. She has a point.

I'm back bitches! I took a Hiatus from fanfiction as life got in the way (not just COVID). Rest assured, I never forgot about this story. I have all of my notes still and plan to finish this story. I aplogise if the writing style is a little different. It has been a few years lol.
