Sayaka and Mami met at the office one week after Yuli Rickson was indicted for murder. Sayaka sat at her favourite chair while Mami sipped her favourite tea. The girls had smiles on their faces as they looked over case files of Mami's many trials, of which she only lost her very first.

"Goodness… you've got quite a history of success!" Sayaka's eyebrows raised as she stared at Mami's record. Mami smiled.

"I seem to have quite the knack for finding the truth in big cases." Mami proclaimed.
"That's what impresses me most about your record, Mami. You're not just good at persuasion, you're also accurate with your findings. There should be more attorneys out there like you, Mami." Sayaka spoke with a look of awe in her eyes. Mami put her pointer finger on her mouth as she giggled.

"Who's to say you aren't one of those lawyers yourself? Are you committed to finding the truth in your trials?" Mami posed a good question.

"Of course! I defend clients whom I know for sure are innocent. I wouldn't defend them if I had doubts about it." Sayaka smiled proudly. Mami smiled in return.

"Then you're already on the right track." Mami began. "More than anything, the purpose of trials is to reach an accurate conclusion in regards to who committed a crime and how it happened. That is what Attorneys, Prosecutors, and Judges are there to do. The most successful trials are those that reveal the full, accurate truth, when both Defense and Prosecution work together to search for the truth behind every crime." Mami spoke with vigor and fire in her heart. She dearly wanted Sayaka to take those words to heart.

"I certainly hope that Sakura gets that message. Something tells me that she isn't outright evil. I have this feeling that deep down, she's a good person after all, despite her sneaky prosecution style." Sayaka responded. Mami took a deep breath.

"You might be right, Sayaka." Mami had a bit of a glow in her golden eyes. "That girl has a fiery passion for her job. That passion has to come from somewhere. Perhaps she truly believes every defendant is guilty, or there might be something else that led her to think that way. I would not be surprised if either of those theories end up being correct." Mami had a serious expression on her face as she spoke. As the girls were chatting, a fire had broken out in a fancy downtown building, where Bluecorp once stood. The flames had eaten up the back of the building, smoking nearly everything inside. One unfortunate woman was working at the building that night, and she escaped with severe burns before they were shot in the head by a long distance sniper rifle. Firefighters were called in to douse the flames, and one of them discovered the body, which had been badly burned, with a bullet hole in the head. The firefighter called the police, who found a bulky young man and arrested him on the spot. The next morning, Sayaka and Mami were back in the office, with Sayaka glancing over the paper. She noticed a headline, reading: "Woman found dead in burned building! Former firefighter Tohr Rent is the primary suspect!" Sayaka shook her head.

"Something tells me that this former firefighter isn't responsible for this. Why would a former fireman commit arson of all crimes? And a murder on top of that? I need to look into this further." Sayaka spoke with determination. Mami took interest.
"This would be an interesting case to take. Arson and Murder on the same night is a peculiar event." Mami began. "This might be an interesting try-out for your newest legal aide." Mami snapped her fingers. At that moment, Madoka entered the room, with a white suit and a pink tie. Sayaka was most surprised.

"M-Madoka?! How long have you been working with Mami?!" Sayaka asked.

"Only about a week, Sayaka." Madoka responded. She had a sweet smile. "I still owe you for saving me last week. Mrs. Tomoe suggested that I take lessons with er to become your legal assistant, so we can save innocent lives together!" Madoka gave Sayaka a great big hug. Sayaka returned the hug. Mami giggled.

"Oh, just call me Mami! It feels more personal that way!" Mami sipped her newest tea, with her pinky raised. "Now Sayaka, I trust you to be able to work together with Madoka on your first case together. Think of ideas together, discuss potential leads, and most of all, be kind to each other." Mami left the girls with some advice as she sent them off to their investigation.
"Will do! See you after the trial, Mami!" Sayaka waved goodbye as she took Madoka with her. The girls got on the bus, headed for the downtown core, where their investigation would kick off.
