You Need To Calm Down
The air that surrounded the two was tense. He stood behind the Hokage desk. His position stuck between them. The duty that he held to the people of the village and her; she symbolized his duty to her, his family… his brother. He was defeated. He was tired. He was broken. He had failed. Failed her. Failed his family. Failed his younger brother… he shifted uncomfortably. He couldn't think about the loss.
Her green eyes were unwavering. She wasn't going to let up. She was drowning. He held the key to her salvation. She needed to leave. Needed to go. She couldn't be here in the village anymore. Naruto was gone training with Yamato. She didn't know the full information but now with Sasuke… Her heart felt like she was shattering.
"Please,"
Itachi finally looked up at her. His Hokage robes felt heavy and thick. He felt like he was going to choke on the sob in his throat. He coughed finally and let out a shaky breath. She wrapped her arms around herself. She was falling apart. A apart of her knew that Itachi had done everything in his power to help Sasuke. To take away the anger in his heart. But another part of her blamed him; her best friend was gone.
"I…"
"Please don't. I can't stand looking at you. I love you… and…" she whispered. "I hate you so much right now. I don't know if I can forgive you…"
Itachi nodded and pulled out a mission scroll. He sat in his desk and pulled out a pen. "I'm giving you permission to leave the village," she breathed out relieved. He signed the end and handed it to her. She took the scroll, looked it over and then placed it in her front pocket. She turned to leave. "Kura…" he whispered. She stopped something in her heart not allowing her to ignore him. "There will be a time soon that I will call for you… and I'll need you," he saw the faintest nod and then she was gone from his office. From his village. From his protection…
"Kakashi," the silver haired jonin stood behind Itachi.
"She's gone?" he inquired.
"Follow her. She can't know. Whoever this enemy is… he knows more then we think…"
A/N
I've been seeing this scene for weeks in my head. I figured I'd throw it down for you guys. I'm a little all over the place with writing this on her. My plan will be to make this a little more organized and more depth and then likely post on A03. I've been doing a lot of rewrites of my old stuff as well and writing new stuff.
