Hi there guys thanks for the reviews
First to answer some questions, he is in the canon Gundam SEED Destiny not his one.
Will he save the extendeds? Hmm not sure, he didn't save the boosted men.
Still undecided if he should be paired or not as well.
Lunamaria and her fellow pilots had all managed to return safely to the Minerva. Bogey One had gotten away for now, but the more interesting fact that the strange Mobile Suit was docking with them had caught her attention. It would be a lie to say she was not interested in seeing what this Dreadnought Class High Manoeuvre Mobile Suit looked like with her own eyes. She was also very interested in the pilot now as she watched the Mobile Suit slowly make its way into the hangar bay.
Its slow methodical steps seemed to shake the entire hangar bay and from the corner of her eyes she saw Rey hold the side of his head in first discomfort and then what she believed could be pain. The Mobile Suit was taller than their slighting, had a cape above all things and appeared to have no weapons upon it at all. It's V-fin was in the shame of a golden bird and its colour was black torso and arms with small golden linings. Then a cream set of legs, not white but cream because there was the slight difference there that she could note. Not to mention the cape of the Mobile Suit was a vibrant red, which appeared to be crimson.
She noted that Shinn was very disgruntled, but he seemed to be keeping it in check as the Captain and Chairman were both here. Slowly the cockpit of this DCHM-MS Agito Zero opened and from it descended a man who had a very odd look about him. He wore a uniform that was very faded that seemed to mirror his mobile suit, a black jacket, a cream set of trousers with a crimson cape at the back. Though his was much shorter in comparison to that of the Mobile Suit and well it was very faded.
In fact the pilot himself looked well faded, like part of the colour had been drained from him as if he were a character in a comic or book? If she had to put a word to it, his faded skin, his faded hair and uniform and his bright green eyes that she could swear were glowing, made him look like an alien. But the moment she thought that Lunamaria tensed up as she felt his eyes turn almost mechanically and land on her.
But they were soon drawn away now as the young Mobile Suit pilot saw her Captain say "I am Captain Talia Gladys, of the ZAFT battleship the Minerva. Your assistance in the sortie today aided our men and from what I was told, you personally saved the life of one of our pilots. For that you have my gratitude."
The posture of this unknown pilot sharpens a little, but he does not salute Captain Gladys. Instead, he says in a tired voice "Anthony Hitoro, it's a pleasure."
Lunamaria would swear there was something mechanical in the way he turned his head and looked at the Chairman and said something else no one expect "Doctor Durandal, you're the last person I expect to see one a military vessel?"
From where Lunamaria stood she could see there was a slight look of surprise on the Chairman's face. She could not tell why but the Chairman did not take offence at being called 'Doctor' instead of chairman now and asked "Sorry were we acquainted?"
The man who called himself Anthony Hitoro gave a slight nod saying "In a way, we met at least once through a mutual acquaintance."
When he said that Lunamaria saw his eyes flash over to where Rey was standing now, holding part of his head. She was certain the Chairman saw it too but said nothing about it now as he informed Anthony Hitoro. "I'm afraid it's Chairman Durandal now."
"You're the PLANT Supreme Council Chairman?" The voice was almost insulting and was rather patronizing when he said that like it was not possible but what he said next made more sense as he asked "can you tell me where is Siegel Clyne or Patrick Zala, for I much desire to speak with them."
A very awkward moment of silence now passes over them all as Lunamaria sudden realizes as the person they are talking to wants to speak to two people who are dead. Which means that he is unaware of their deaths, which in turn leads her to believe that this person must have what slept through the entire war if he did not know what happened to those two former Chairmen of the PLANT Supreme Council."
But of course, when she heard the Chairman speak, he was as calm as he could be saying "Ah Mr Hitoro there is a lot that you need to be brought up to speed on. But I am afraid the Hangar Bay is not the place to do that. If you would come with me, I'll debrief you myself on the past events."
This Anthony Hitoro seems somewhat unwilling to move from his place or leave his Mobile Suit, but with a glance back to it. He turned back to the Chairman and said, "I'll accept that offer."
For the sake of safety, Captain Talia Gladys had stayed with Chairman Durandal now as he 'debriefed' this man who went by the name 'Anthony Hitoro'. She noted that with the topic of the Bloody Valentine War, the Chairman took a neutral approach to it. Making sure not to demonize either side or make anyone else look especially heroic. Not to mention that the Chairman seemed to have a file on this Anthony Hitoro that was so bare bones it seemed like someone in the PLANTS Supreme Council had made extra sure to scrub it clean so only the basic details where there.
Now that was a Red flag but even Talia found it preposterous for the Naturals to be able breach their security. But to create a false identity that fits so well. And to top it off created a very dangerous Mobile Suit that was able to outperform the ZAFT Mobile Suits of MS Gaia, MS Chaos and MS Abyss. That alone gave credence to the fact that this man was someone who was deep in the PLANT Supreme Council, not to mention his clear record meant they didn't want anyone else knowing what who he was and if he was a spy, he'd be uncommon and plain not mysterious.
She was shocked now because Durandal said something that she did not expect or rather she did not know. Solemnly the Chairman stated to this Anthony Hitoro "It grieves me to tell you that your family, all of them were on Junius Seven at the time of the tragedy, though I don't wish to insult you. But your records are quite sparse so new only know of your immediate family."
For the first time Talia noted a glint of sadness in those almost crystal like green eyes as the man gazed off into the distance. It took a while be he finally spoke saying "It is sad that I've been through so much, only to never see my family again. And yet those were the risks that I accepted, just I never thought I'd live through it and still be unable to see them again."
Chairman Durandal gave a nod stating "I don't mean to ask you to divulge anything you're not ready to do so. But could you tell us what the project you were working on was? If you cannot, I understand. You've been through a lot and most of those you know have passed away or died. So please take your time and don't feel rushed to do anything."
"We were looking at a way to create non-nuclear energy source, there were several projects. I was part of the solar one and its results you can see on my Mobile Suit. But given the others have not returned and they left before I did, I'm going to assume the worse has happened. I won't reveal more, but the only place to build such a drive is at Jupiter." There was a matter-of-fact way that this information was put across that came off making it out less of someone making an excuse and more like someone who was frustrated by the limitations placed upon them.
But there is more to it than that of course and the man called Anthony Hitoro said "Before you ask me to share anything with you. I will inform you that I don't have the clearance to do so except to three very specific individuals and the third one was on sufferance."
Most would not notice it but there was a slight look of frustration in the eyes of Chairman Gilbert Durandal. Not because of what he just heard, but because he knew the answer to it and said "From the way you say it, you gather that all three men are dead. Not only that, but you were to tell those people who were named, not the ones holding their position as a form of security."
"Who knows what would happen if such technology fell into more radical hands." When Talia heard Anthony say that she had to do her best not to cringe at the idea of Patrick Zala being a moderate. Then again this man knew Patrick Zala before the Bloody Valentine and before Junius Seven.
But no Durandal came to the elephant in the room and asked "Not to be rude again, but why do you appear the way you do? I don't believe there was anyone who would genetically select their child to look like you?"
Of course, Durandal was going to ask that so Anthony informed him "I'd say it was an accident, but no it was pretty much on purpose. I just didn't know it would be this bad or rather I didn't know this would happen at all and if I did, I'd have not done what I did."
It was entirely true, being hit by the GENESIS Cannon and surviving was not something he intended to survive. Not to mention that he ended up here above all places and looked like this. It was a sore spot for him in the sense that he'd rather have died a hero than to live on like this, if you could call this life. He looked at Durandal without revealing too much "Don't be in my Mobile Suit if you are getting hit by nuclear explosions. You'll live, well if you can call this life."
Anthony could see a slight amount of discomfort on Durandal's face, the man was a geneticist and DNA expert. Anthony knew the very sight of him to someone as medically educated to Gilbert Durandal, made no sense. Or rather for someone to be able to live like this was somewhat discomforting to Chairman of the PLANTS, a fact Anthony took a small sense of satisfaction in.
But that was a double-edged sword since he was indeed badly deformed and pretty much doomed to live out the rest of his existence like this. Although Anthony was aware that Durandal could always have a trick up his sleeve, guy was able to give pills to Rau to stop his pains of being a failed clone. Regardless of what Anthony thought, Durandal now changed the topic as he asked "I have to ask, but given your denial of information. I would assume that you would not come aboard any ship without a contingency plan in case they attempted to capture you."
Now Anthony could tell that Chairman Durandal was trying his best to probe him for information, but also make sure he did not let those words come off as a threat. While Anthony could force that to be taken as one, he instead decided to play ball at least for this round and say "Impound me at your own peril, Chairman."
He had wanted to say 'fuck around and find out' but that wasn't appropriate for the situation. Instead, he gave a clear message that did not reveal any information, but did reveal that something would happen if they were to attempt to take him prisoner. It was now that Anthony could see Durandal wanted to try and gleam if this was a bluff, but thing was Anthony did not even need to bluff. The MS Agito Zero would act to get him out of here or if he died it would act to avenge him and Anthony knew it.
Satisfied with that answer or rather content with what he saw, Durandal now asked Anthony "You're not willing to share what will happen with us, I believe that is understandable since there is a lot you're not allowed to share. But I would guess that you had all the time in the world to plan counter measures to capture by any radicals and what would happen and need to be done if that were the case. Though forgive me, but from what you said you were not the only one who was part of this project, do you know what happened to the others?"
Anthony could tell that Chairman Durandal put this to him to test him to see if he would divulge anything on the matter. But no Anthony had the perfect response for this which was "Since I only just got back to Earth, I was hoping that you would tell me."
There was a heavy silence after these words, as Anthony saw or rather felt the apprehension in Durandal. The last thing that man wanted was super weapons on Mobile Suits like the MS Agito Zero. The very idea that Blue Cosmos or its other part whatever that was called, was a concerning one. But Anthony decided to give him an alternative solution saying "It is possible that I overtook them, but it is also possible that they met with an accident on the way back. The latter is more tragic since it means that the drives are lost to us forever now."
Changing the topic once again Durandal asked Anthony "And what do you intend to do if that is the case, if you are the only one left?"
Without the slightest hesitation Anthony bluntly told them what he could do or rather would do if the situation demanded it of him "I intend to return to Junius Seven, pay my respects to those who fell and my friends who I shall never see again. Then I will find a secure and remote location and self-detonate so that its secrets would remain so. Before you ask, it is my duty to go down with the Mobile Suit, so yes, I fully intend to be aboard when I do that, that way the secrets of such a project die with me."
The bluntness and conviction which Anthony said that caused Talia to gasp in reaction to it. If Anthony were to guess, it would be that she did not expect anyone to say something like that and so truly mean it. What they did not know was that they were among the people Anthony did not wish to let get their hands on his MS Agito Zero. But he was very serious when he made such a statement because he would do just that, if it meant keeping everything out of the wrong people's hands.
Turning to look at the Captain of the Minevera, Anthony noted the almost open discomfort she had with him. It was no doubt due to his looks and current state, but he did not care for that. Looking at her now directly in the eyes he told her "I have nothing to live for, all those I knew are dead, all that they stood for died long ago. For what reason should I fear my own demise if that is what is demanded of me, you're in uniform Captain. When you put that uniform on, you accepted that you may just be buried in it as well."
Chairman Durandal had permitted this Anthony Hitoro to go to the officers lounge, Talia was not entirely okay with that. But she had not argued with the chairman about it. She assumed that he had a plan and when they were alone, she asked him "What do you intend to do about him Chairman. I could not get a good read of him other than he has the utmost confidence in himself."
Her former lover looked at her now as they walked and said "Hmm, you could not get a good read of him. No doubt because he was trained to make sure no one could. When you're selected for a top secret mission, you don't want your agents to just give away information. You don't want them to be open, you don't want them to be easily affected by events around them such as the loss of family and friends. They need to be cold, measured and efficient. The closest we got to emotion out of him there was a very faint sad look in those eyes of his. He was chosen for this task because of those traits, but the final quality is loyalty."
There was a pause now as Talia understood what Gilbert was telling her, it was that this man was loyal, but the question was to who? Was he loyal to Patrick Zala, was he loyal to Siegel Clyne or was he loyal to Uzumi Nara Athha? All three men were dead and all three of them at the end of the war stood for very different ideals. The very fact that he could be loyal to Patrick Zala was an issue that needed to be addressed. But the other issue was if he was loyal to Siegel Clyne or Uzumi Nara Athha, could he be influenced by their children?
But now the more fatalistic side to this Anthony Hitoro was touched on by Durandal as he told Talia "I feel if we misstep here, it will prove to be fatal. There was no bluff in his eyes when he said he had contingency plans set up in case he was taken prisoner. In fact I would make the guess that he has a way to remote detonate that Mobile Suit of his. That way, all who sought it and him would be destroyed leaving behind nothing but ash as its only remains."
These words did finally prompt Talia into asking the Chairman "Then what is the plan with him, he's not going to give us any information on his Mobile Suit and given that he was not the one who built that whatever technology his suit uses. He cannot make more of them for us. It would appear that he is only a Mobile Suit pilot and there is not much else to it."
However as soon as Talia said that, Chairman Durandal gave her a soft smile as he said "That is where you're wrong. Between him waiting in the meeting room, I found the records of this Anthony Hitoro and he was not a simple Mobile Suit pilot. No he designed them. But given that he was away from Earth for so long and was part of this joint project between ZAFT and ORB, I suspect that he may have utterly forgotten that he was a Mobile Suit designer. Then again the only Mobile Suit of his to get off the ground was the one we see him piloting."
Before Talia could ask if that meant that Anthony Hitoro was lying to them, Durandal silenced that thought saying "Think on it, he's been to Jupiter that's three years there. Then he's been there for some time must have been years now he's come back that's another three years. If you don't do something for so long and just do what had to be done, it is easy to see and write off that he just does not remember that he also designed Mobile Suits or no longer believes that he can say he does. Due to how long it has been since last did that or third, he is forbidden from saying that by the project itself."'
That was a lot to take on, but Talia slowly gave a nod before asking "I take it that you have a plan for him Chairman?"
"No I have not, a top secret project arriving now above all times was not something I ever thought to deal with. In fact I am left utterly at a loss for what to do because top secret projects that were on a need to know basis and everyone who knew is dead, meant I was not prepared for this. The arrival of a super prototype Mobile Suit, I believed I already had all the previous plans of Patrick Zala, the fact that this slipped the net is concerning until Siegel Clyne was part of it." The way Durandal said this now put Talia on edge, the fact that this was hidden for so long was concerning enough, what else did they not know?
Durandal did give a sigh now as he pointed out "I do believe that we should offer sponsorship to him, the world is utterly irreconcilable to the one he knew. The people he knew are either dead or so changed by war that he won't recognize them. To meet a man who is so utterly lost just by virtue of his duty, it would be cruel if we did not offer a helping hand to him."
Now Talia Gladys felt there was more to it than that, like the fact said human being had one of the most powerful Mobile Suits she has ever seen. Then again she knew that the Chairman did not need to point out such an obvious thing but now she did ask "Do we have confirmation that he is a Coordinator?"
Durandal chuckled now before saying "Funnily enough he lived on Junius Seven for a time with his family and he pilots a Mobile Suit pre Junius Seven. But the results would surprise you, he's a Natural and let it sink in Patrick Zala trusted him with a top secret project. Now he had his problems before the war, he a Natural was allowed to go on this secret mission, now you might think he was ORB's own person, but no he like pointed out before is from the PLANTS. Coordinator or not, he's a citizen of the PLAN TS which means we should be doing our best to help him even if he doesn't want to give us anything. It's calling paying it forward."
Talia now asked him "And what makes you think he'd not take advantage of that?"
Now with a more serious tone Durandal said "It's simple, because while I can't read him well. I can tell he's the time to return the favour good or ill."
Anthony had been told to make himself at home in the Officers Lounge, so he had made himself a nice cup of tea. Now he could taste it, but only slightly and this troubled him greatly because he liked tea. But now his peaceful time was interrupted as he heard the voices of Shinn, Lunamaria and even Meyrin enter the room and Meyrin was asking "What does the pilot of what is it call, the Dreadnought Class High Manoeuvre Mobile Suit Agito Zero. What does he look like, is he striking, mysterious or-."
"Sitting right in front of you" Anthony finished now then took a sip of his tea as he heard Meyrin squeal slightly and run and hide behind her elder sister. Anthony gave them tired look before turning back to his tea now and just hoping he ignored them, they would in turn ignore him.
No wait of course not and Lunamaria now walked closer to where he was seated and said "You're Anthony Hitoro the pilot of the Agito Zero. I'm Lunamaria Hawke, you saved Shawn's life out there, thanks for that."
"A pleasure" Anthony said in response to that before adding "To look to hard into it kid, lucky I was there. Unlucky that you walked into that ambush."
Anthony after he said it, recalled this would anger Shinn who stepped forward now saying "Hey don't call us kids, we could have handled ourselves fine with or without your help."
Taking another sip of his tea Anthony then replied, "As you wish, child."
There was a notable anger now in Shinn that Anthony felt was delightful when saw it, not that he would show such satisfaction. But he decided to yank of Shinn's chain a little as he asked "Do you children have business with me or are you just stare at me? You can take a seat if you like, but if you wish to just stare at me or glare at me, I'd request that you stop. Not that it makes me uncomfortable, just that it's impolite to do so."
To his chagrin, Lunamaria took Anthony up on that offer, he was just being polite. He didn't intend for either of the three to take him up on that offer and asked him outright "So Anthony Hitoro, where are you from."
"Junius Seven actually was where I lived before, lovely PLANT, you should go there sometime. Oh wait, your chairman told me what happened to it, my bad." The way Anthony delivered that was both with levity and a sombreness to it that made Lunamaria look like she had just kicked a puppy. That was not the intended effect, but that was good enough.
Unlike Shinn, Lunamaria was not a self-obsessed asshole and straight away said "I am so sorry for bringing that up, wait that means you're part of ZAFT aren't you. What jacket were you?"
"No I was not part of the Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty." Anthony did not feel the need to expand on that because well, he was never a part of ZAFT so why say he was and lie.
Anthony would have to give Lunamaria some credit, she was still trying now to have something of a conversation with him as she asked "So do you know why your suits is called the Dreadnought Class High Manoeuvre Mobile Suit Agito Zero?"
Now that name still; hurt to hear so Anthony honestly replied "Kid to why its called that I have no idea, I just call it Agito Zero because I like the name and seeing as there was no one to tell me I couldn't name it that, I did. This Dreadnought class stuff I can only guess. But I could say it may have something to do with the fact that all your weapons were pretty much useless against that Mobile Suit. Like your impulsive friend her demonstrated."
That actually got a laugh out of Lunamaria now and a glare from Shinn, but now Lunamaria asked, "So what do you intend to do now?"
Anthony let a shadow of a smile cross his face before saying "I don't have any plans for the future or rather the ones that I had can no longer be followed. I liken it to waking up one morning and finding that all your friends and family are gone without a trace and the very street you live on has changed to be unrecognizable. But the only thing to do is to keep calm and carry on."
Meyrin watched her sister now talking with the strange pilot, he kind of did look like an Alien of sorts. But the way he spoke he clearly, well human to put it. He was not mysterious, scary and terrifying. No he was polite and personable to conversation albeit it a tad grumpy and or tired. It was almost like he was just a normal person, well he had to have been at one point and slowly she stepped forward, she could see Shinn was still glaring at this Anthony Hitoro.
Before she took a seat she stopped and said albeit more shyly than her sister "Hi, I'm Meyrin Hawke?"
The way she said that, left it almost as a question and the very polite look of this Anthony Hitoro along with his words seemed to put her at ease when he said "A pleasure to meet you Miss Meyrin Hawke, Anthony Hitoro."
There was a lot she wanted to ask, but it would appear the Lunamaria was making him an offer saying "You know, well of course you know you're a very skilled Mobile Suit pilot. ZAFT could use experience pilots, after all that is happened we're worried that things can spiral out of control and start another war. Which shouldn't happen, the Treaty of Junius Seven was meant to put an end to hostilities."
Observing the reaction of this Anthony Hitoro, Meyrin made a mental note that he arched an eyebrow when she said that. He then looked at his empty tea cup and shaking his head informed them of something they had not heard about "On June 28 1914, a man and his wife, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir presumptive to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, were assassinated. Their deaths at the hand of a Bosnian Serb in Sarajevo kicked off a conflict known as the Great War, which was meant to be a war to end all wars. Looking back on it now, do you know how wrong they were to think that their war would be the war to end all wars?"
Meyrin found this hard to follow, but to her surprise Shinn who was clearly listening and just pretending not to be spoke up interjecting saying "Are you telling us that it is only a matter of time before another war starts? That all the lives that were lost and all the sacrifices and concessions that were made were for nothing?"
To this Meyrin heard Anthony respond to Shinn by saying "Even if this war of the Bloody Valentine is over, not everyone will agree to it. In the shadows of both Earth and the PLANTS they will fester because for some the war never ended. Be it the Great War or the Bloody Valentine War, war itself will never entirely die. It will evolve, it will change and it always returns sooner than we think."
Hey guys thanks for reading to the end, please leave a review!
