Over the next few weeks, Professor Professor and Doctor Doctor met up with Marlon Zen, who decided to put himself in charge of helping to plan the wedding. In addition to him, they also hired Alphonse for decor and the catering company Dirty Lobster for food and refreshments. So far, everything seemed to be going smoothly, with Marlon using his power as director to make sure everything would be taken care.
One day, on Valentine's Day fittingly enough, Professor Professor decided to tell everyone at work how plans for the wedding were progressing. At first, he wanted to wait until the day of the wedding before surprising everyone with all the effort Marlon, Alphonse, and the whole lot of other people hired for the event had put into it. However, he couldn't really contain his excitement, so he decided to lay everything out for his co-workers to know.
"I'm glad to hear about how things have been progressing, Professor Professor," Willy Nilly Willy Way said. "I can't wait to officiate it this August. I bet it will have been worth the wait, not to mention have lots of security. Speaking of which, as you already know, for reasons of security, my name is Changed Daily. Today, you may call me..." His cellphone beeped. "Oh, for the love of... Poopity Scoop."
Everyone else in the briefing room just laughed.
"I digress," Poopity Scoop continued. "Anita told me earlier that you and Doctor Doctor had hired Alphonse to do decor. Is that true?"
"Ja, it is," Professor Professor replied. "He says he's working on sculpting anatomically accurate hearts as centerpieces for the tables. He's also been working with his wife Sayuri on other art pieces to show off at the reception."
Indeed, Alphonse and Sayuri Suzuki had been married for four years now, and they'd had three children (two girls and a boy) in the interim with another on the way.
Victor just rolled his eyes. "Couldn't you have gotten anyone else for decor? What does he know about planning for a wedding?"
"Um, Victor, did you forget that he's married for a second?" Anita asked. "I'm pretty sure that alone would qualify him for the role."
"Whatever."
"Besides, after everything Alphonse has done for U.Z.Z., why wouldn't he help Professor Professor out with the wedding?"
"Fair enough, I guess."
"Well, anyway," Poopity Scoop began to speak again. "I hope the wedding planning goes well. It would be an absolute joy to officiate."
"Danke," Professor Professor replied with gratitude. "I appreciate it."
"I'm so glad you could stop by and visit us, Professor Professor," Titania said. "It's not every day a human can just stop by for a quick visit, let alone an U.Z.Z. agent like you."
"And it's definitely not every day that a former baddie like Doctor Doctor can come by to see us, either," Oberon added.
Professor Professor, Doctor Doctor, Oberon, Titania, and Wulfrun were sitting around the royal fae table and having afternoon tea. For the occasion, Titania had her flaxen hair done up in a half crown side braid and bun, which was adorned with a tea hat decorated with yarrows and St. John's worts. She was wearing a Talk About Divine Blush Long Sleeve Backless Maxi Dress with matching high heels and dangling gold chandelier earrings. Her husband Oberon, on the other hand, was taking a more risque approach to his afternoon tea outfit. His dark brown hair looked like he tried to disguise his bedhead ever-so-slightly, only for him to give up halfway; as for the outfit, he was wearing a flower crown of yarrows and St. John's worts, a white dress shirt that was slightly buttoned off to show his chest, a pair of chestnut brown chinos, and a shiny pair of black dress shoes. Wulfrun's outfit was identical to her mother's except for her much more colorful flower crown, and Professor Professor and Doctor Doctor were wearing the same outfits they'd worn for their date in Dubai.
"You know, I get this feeling you came here because you want us to do you a favor," Wulfrun said.
"Right you are, Your Majesty," Professor Professor replied. "Doctor Doctor and I came down here to ask you to set up fairy lights at the wedding."
"Well, you and U.Z.Z. have helped us out so many times that it only seems fair that we help you. Certainly."
"Danke."
"Doctor Doctor must be so lucky she's getting ready to marry a handsome man like you," Oberon said in a flattering manner.
Professor Professor blushed in response. "Oh, you..."
"Anything else you want us to do for you? Maybe... throw a stag do or a hen party or both at the same time?"
Professor Professor was still blushing. "Both. Both would be good."
Doctor Doctor cleared her throat in order to change the subject. "Excuse me, I'd like to make a suggestion."
Oberon raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What is it?"
Doctor Doctor drew a blank for a moment and only came up with, "Would you mind keeping guard of the wedding? You know, just in case bad guys decided to attack for whatever reason?"
Oberon placed his hand on his chin and gave the suggestion some thought. "Hmm..."
"I know it's a lot to ask of you," Professor Professor quickly stated. "But like you said, we've helped you out so many times and it only makes senses that you should return the favor. I still remember when you gifted U.Z.Z. the Secret Thing, by the way."
"Yes, either keep guard of you at your wedding or give you wedding presents," Oberon jokingly intonated. "Don't make me choose."
"Just get on with it, Dad!" Wulfrun shouted at him. "No need to waste any more of their time."
Oberon laughed. "Alright, we'll do it."
Professor Professor firmly grasped Oberon's hand with both of his and shook it. "Thank you, Your Highness. You won't regret this."
"We should certainly hope not," Titania said. "We've been maintaining this kind of relationship with U.Z.Z. ever since it was founded back in the '80s."
Doctor Doctor's face lifted in surprise. "Oh, right! I remember what I wanted to ask you now. What's the secret to a relationship like that?"
"Oh... transparency and respect, I guess. At least that's how U.Z.Z. has insisted on it for the last century or so."
"No, not that kind of relationship. I meant the one you and Oberon have going. How do you make it work?"
"Well, an intimate relationship between two individuals is, I'd imagine, somewhat different from an alliance between a secret organization and a kingdom of faeries. If you really want this marriage of yours to work, then you must know that the ingredients for that recipe are complete trust, appreciation, respect, affection, and vulnerability. Please, for the love of the Faerie Gods, don't be afraid to be vulnerable with one another. It makes you human."
Doctor Doctor took a deep breath and tried her best to process Titania's advice. "Thank you, Your Royal Highness."
"It is but the least of what we can do for you."
