A/N: Yeah I don't like these things. Again, I'm behind, I'm sorry, I'm burnt out! But still producing content because numbers make my dopamine go brrrrrrrr.

Prompt 21: TORMENTOR
Silas's mic peaked on the comm as he shrieked.
"Whoa!" River managed, thunking the side of her helmet. "Hey, no, you can't do that, I have actual ears-"
"RIVER THIS THING IS FUCKING AWFUL AND IT'S CHASING ME HOLY FUCK-"
River took off. She left a bewildered Daniels behind, who only took off after his brain caught up with his wife's train of thought. Silas had run ahead, leaving a trail of dead Cabal in his wake. She hadn't been too worried about him, but now she was, clearing obstacles with a pace that left even her Exo husband huffing in the distance. Clementine had a bead on him, and she wasn't about to lose him.
Silas ran almost smack dab into her, and had the good common sense to pull the other Hunter behind cover. He was behind her, crashed a hand against the speaker on her helmet and - getting the message - she didn't fight him for once, breath baited. River's eyes widened as the giant, hulking creature ran past, wide and red with horrifying tendrils. As it passed, she hissed, "Daniels, hide!"
She only hoped he'd listen. The comm was silent in answer. She glanced back at Silas, and they both rose out of their crouched positions, stalking forward quietly with their weapons raised. River held an arrow nocked on her Wishender, Silas the same on his Trinity Ghoul. They walked in on Daniels fighting that thing in single combat - he wasn't necessarily losing, but he wasn't exactly winning either.
River drew back the string on her massive stone bow and loosed an arrow that pinned the thing to the ground. Seeing Trinity Ghoul in Silas's hands, Daniels rolled backwards - and Silas released a volley of three arrows that scattered at the creature's feet, sending merciless waves of arc energy through its body. Daniels leveled his gun, and two shots to the skull sent it down.
Silas, all his adrenaline spent, sat criss-cross on the ground right where he had been standing. "What was that?" he asked, voice still high pitched.
"Uh…" River walked over and toed it with her boot. "Huh."
Daniels leaned over and looked down at it, grimace audible in his voice. "Something real shitty."
