Nicole gave birth to her child, a girl. I held the baby while the doctor examined Nicole. Nicole's mother was hesitant to hold her granddaughter, knowing what her daughter planned to do.

My partner Bill arrived and saw me holding the baby.

Joe: Shouldn't you be at home with your family?
Bill: I just wanted to make sure you were okay.
Joe: I am. Michelle and I are getting married.
Bill: Congragulations.
Joe: I'm also taking a few personal days.
Bill: Could be difficult now. The deadline for president Burkle's amnesty is December 31st, a lot of them will be turning themselves in before the new year.
Joe: You might be right, but Michelle and I have decided to adopt this baby.
Bill: Wow, what brought this on?
Joe: We want children. Neither of us has any particular desire to give birth. Adoption makes more sense, and it does feel like fate has brought this child to us.
Bill: It occurs to me, if that child hadn't taken baby Jesus for a ride in his red wagon, Angela might not have found us in time, we wouldn't have been able to save her sister.
Joe: Yeah, all in all, maybe we did have a few Christmas miracles.
