At Shun and Kai's shared apartment, Shun was waking up slowly, sitting up and yawning while stretching. He looked to his left and gained a confused look when he saw that it was empty. Shun got out of bed and walked around the apartment while drowsily saying,"Kai-chan?"

Shun then went out onto his balcony and there he saw Kai doing push ups while in only his boxers. Kai stopped what he was doing and said,"Oh, hi Shun." While standing up.

"Kai-chan, why are you out here so early?"Shun asked, rubbing his eye and yawning.

"I woke up and decided to exercise. I didn't want to wake you so I came out here."Kai bluntly replied. Shun nodded, then he took Kai by the hand and led him inside while saying,"Thank you, but next time put on clothes before you go outside."

Kai looked at himself and he nodded. Shun and Kai went into their kitchen and began making breakfast. Kai held Shun by the waist the entire time while Shun did most of the cooking.

At Vicky and Daiji's apartment, Daiji was walking towards the door but stopped when he heard Vicky say,"Where are you going?"

He turned to Vicky, who was standing in the hallway with her arms crossed. Daiji sighed before saying,"I'm just going out to think a little."

"Mmmhmm, okay then you won't mind me tagging along.",Vicky said while walking up to Daiji, grabbing her hat and hoodie in the process.

"That's not necessary Vick.",Daiji said.

"Maybe not, but I'm going anyway.",Vicky said insistently. Daiji sighed in defeat then he and Vicky left the apartment after putting on their socks and shoes.

Not long after, Daiji and Vicky were walking down the street together when Vicky said,"So where are we walking exactly?"

"Nowhere in particular, I just needed to think about some stuff.",Daiji replied.

"If by stuff you mean the thing that voice told us about then I get you."

Daiji looked at Vicky with surprise then he said,"Are you psychic or something?"

"Nope, I just know how to read people plus it's obvious that what that voice said got to you.",Vicky said while putting her hands into her jacket pockets. Daiji shook his head while scoffing then he said,"Well, you're right. I can't stop thinking about how it said we're all trying to resolve a conflict that started long ago. I mean, how is that possible?"

"Don't know, could be that some jerks decided to fight one another a long time ago and now we have to or could mean that in the past some guys decided to make a weird game up to screw with folks. Either way, worrying about it is only going to make you get gray hairs.",Vicky said, her tone sounding both comforting and chastising. Daiji thought about it and then he said,"Guess you're right."

"I tend to be.",Vicky said with a smirk. The two then walked in a comfortable silence for a time before Vicky said,"Daiji, you know that we're friends right?"

"Yeah.",Daiji replied.

"You know I care about you, Kai and Shun right?"

"Yeah? Is something wrong?",Daiji asked as he and Vicky stopped at a crosswalk. Vicky sighed then she said,"Ren called me last night. He said that he wants to talk to me and I want to meet with him."

Daiji nodded with understanding but he gained a slightly surprised look when Vicky asked him,"Would you mind coming with me?"

"You want me to go with you?",Daiji questioned.

"Yeah. I… I have a bad feeling about this and I think if you were there I'd be comforted a bit more.",Vicky sheepishly admitted while rubbing her arm and looking at the ground. Daiji's expression softened, then he put his hand on Vicky's shoulder and said,"I got your back V."

Vicky smiled at Daiji then the duo crossed the road, sticking close to one another as they did so. On a nearby roof, the shadowy figure watched them then said,"Synchronizing." as it sunk into the shadows.

Back with Shun, he and Kai were on their couch, Shun's head being on Kai's lap while Kai simply massaged his cheeks. Shun looked at his feet, lifting his leg up to get a better look then he said,"Kai-chan, do you think I need to paint my toes like I do my fingers?"

Kai stopped massaging his cheeks and he looked down at Shun,"Why do you ask?"

"Because, I don't want them to look so plain anymore. I ask you because I enjoy your opinion and I want to look good for you.",Shun explained, putting his leg down and looking into Kai's eyes. Kai nodded then asked,"Is this because we are boyfriends?"

"Yes, but even if we weren't I'd still want your opinion."

Kai nodded then he looked at Shun's feet before bluntly saying,"I think you should paint them black."

Shun smiled then he said,"Thank you Kai-chan."

Kai nodded then he said,"Shun,"

"Yes?",Shun questioned.

"Do you think it's possible for me to gain emotions?",Kai asked. Shun sat up and adjusted himself so he could face Kai while sitting. He then said,"I think it is, why do you ask?"

Kai looked at Shun then he pulled out his buckle and looked at it while saying,"When we were all combined as Grand Specter, I could feel what you, Vicky, and Daiji felt. It wasn't by a lot but I could feel it. How happy you and Vicky got by our victory and how Daiji felt when he fell."

Shun gained a saddened look as he saw Kai grip his buckle. He then put his hands on Kai's as Kai said,"I also heard the voice from the door again. It told me to keep growing."

Kai looked at Shun,"I think if I grow in power, I'll be able to feel emotions."

Shun stayed silent for a moment, thinking of what to say, then he said in a caring tone,"Whether or not that's true, I just want you to know that I am with you and I truly care about you."

Kai stared at Shun then he and Shun kissed softly. Shun then pulled away and he went to get his nail polish. Kai looked down at his buckle then he felt his lips and looked back at Shun, his eyes showing what appeared to be love. Meanwhile, Shun just had a thoughtful expression as he began intently thinking of how to help Kai.

Back with Daiji and Vicky, the duo walked into a park, seeing Ren sitting on a bench by himself. Ren turned his head to Vicky and Daiji, gaining an annoyed expression at the sight of Daiji.

"I thought I told you to come alone sis.",Ren said while standing up.

"Like I'd do anything you say.",Daiji said, his expression being just as annoyed when he saw Ren. Ren rolled his eyes then he looked at Vicky and grinned while saying,"How've you been sis?"

"I've been as good as I can be, considering the whole fighting monsters thing.",Vicky said with a side smile. Ren lightly chuckled, then he looked Vicky up and down before saying,"Why do you seem so distant right now? I know we don't talk a lot anymore but I'm still your brother."

Vicky hesitated before she said in a shaky voice,"Why did you call me here? I know you didn't just want to catch up with me."

Ren rolled his eyes then said,"You're not wrong. I asked you here to talk with you and get you to join me. I mean we're family first off and we make a good team."

"You're also the same guy who acted as though her being hurt was nothing more than her being soft.",Daiji said with a scowl.

"Can you shut up please, guy? I'm trying to talk with my sister.",Ren said, brushing Daiji off. Daiji began to move towards Ren but Vicky put her hand on his chest, stopping him. Ren raised an eyebrow then said with suspicion,"Is there something going on here that I don't know about?"

"Besides me being annoyed by you.",Daiji said with a scowl. Vicky turned to Ren then she said with a saddened expression and tone,"Ren, just stop this. I mean, this is the third time we've met since becoming avatars and frankly, you're not acting like yourself. It's scaring me and I just want my brother back, not whoever this is."

Ren sighed then he said,"Knew it was a long shot." before snapping his fingers. A werewolf appeared behind Ren and howled before charging. Daiji moved himself and Vicky out of the way before he scowled at Ren and said,"V, you deal with that werewolf. I got Ren."

"No Daiji.",Vicky said while grabbing Daiji's wrist. Daiji looked at Vicky with concern then he looked back to see that Ren and his werewolf had left. He looked around then sighed in frustration. Daiji looked back at Vicky, seeing her just looking at the ground and clenching her hands into fist.

"V,"Daiji said with a soft and compassionate voice. Vicky looked up at Daiji, her eyes watering as she held back tears. She then jumped onto Daiji, hugging him and sobbing into his chest. Daiji fell back but he hugged Vicky back, letting her cry.

"It's gonna be okay V. I'm here for you.",Daiji said sincerely. He then began to think about Ren and he scowled angrily. Vicky continued sobbing, stopping briefly when she heard a mature feminine voice say in her head,"Bonum, crescunt. Victoria."

Later on, Vicky was in her room staring at her hat with sadness. Daiji entered the room, knocking on the door softly as he did so. Vicky glanced at Daiji as he sat at the edge of the bed. Daiji looked at Vicky then he softly said,"V, you feeling any better?"

Vicky scoffed then said,"A little bit, thanks for letting me cry on you."

"No thanks necessary.",Daiji said. He looked at Vicky's hat then said,"This is one of the few times I've seen you without that hat on. Is there a reason why?"

Vicky nodded, then said in a saddened tone,"Ren gave this to me my first week of being in Japan; he did it as a way to welcome me into his family. After today though, I don't know if I can say we're family anymore."

Daiji sighed then he leaned back on his arms before saying,"Yeah, I don't have anything to say that can make you feel better or anything."

"You being here is enough for me."Vicky said with a small smile. Daiji smiled, then he looked at the clock and said,"Ya know, it's not too late. Wanna maybe go out somewhere so you could get your mind off today?"

Vicky thought about it then she said,"Yeah, I think that'd be good for me."

Daiji chuckled, then he and Vicky stood up, leaving their apartment together.

The two ended up at a restaurant together, both eating and enjoying each others company while conversing with one another.

The shadowy figure watched the two from a nearby alley and it nodded before turning around and saying,"Synchronizing."
