Freddy was driving to the bureau with Daya on passenger seat. Freddy was lost in thoughts and Daya was silently watching outside while still figuring how will he convince his brother to forgive him. He still didn't know what exactly happened in his absence that shattered Abhijeet. He thought to ask Freddy and turned to him when he noticed Freddy lost in thoughts. He softly called –
Freddy.
No response.
Daya put a hand on his shoulder and called again –
Freddy
Freddy (jerked) – Kya hua Sir?
Daya – Vhi toh main poochna chahta hun… kya hua h Freddy? Kahan khoye hue ho?
Freddy – Kuch nhi sir… Main toh bs ye soch rha tha k aapko abhi aaram krna chahiye tha… itni jldi bureau nhi aana tha sir.
Daya – Main theek hu Freddy… lekin mujhe sach btao Abhi ko kya hua h?
Freddy looked at Daya and smiled a little and again concentrated on road. That smile shook Daya to the core. Because that one smile has pain, anger, guilt and sarcasm in it. Being with Freddy for more than 10 years, he understands his gestures also. He knows something really bad had happened so asked again in strong tone –
Freddy… chup mt rho… btao mujhe sb kuch.
Freddy – Hum bureau phunchne wale h sir… Itna kuch hua k hum bureau phunch jayenge lekin baat khtm nhi hogi.
Daya (strong tone) – Toh phir gaadi rok do Freddy… pehle main sb sach sunna chahta hun.
Freddy looked at him, stopped the car and got out. Daya too came out. Freddy started recollecting all the happenings. How Abhijeet was accused of shooting Daya and the other undercover officer. How he couldn't remember a single thing. Those hurtful comments by Salunkhe sir and Acp sir. Shreya's accusation and arresting Abhijeet in front of whole café. He told him all and stopped feeling a lump in his throat. He started again –
Hum kuch nhi kr paye sir… ya ye kahiye k humne himmat hi nhi dikhayi jb hme dikhani chahiye thi… hum chup rhe… sb sunte rhe. Acp sir bhi sb kuch jante hue chup rhe… ek baar bhi nhi kaha k voh sb jante h aur Abhijeet sir ne kuch nhi kiya h. Shreya unhe DCP ke saath milkr pure Café ke saamne arrest krke le aayi… phir bhi kuch nhi kaha.
Acp sir ko DCP ne bureau aane ko kaha… toh unhone saaf -2 mna kr diya… lekin vhi jb Abhijeet sir ne kiya toh unhe kya mila…. Sirf insult aur hathkadi. Unhone Dr. Tarika se madad mangi toh Dr. Tarika ne bhi unki koi madad nhi ki. Voh bhut akele hogye the sir… sb hmari glti thi sir… hume chup nhi rehna chahiye tha… isbar nhi rehna chahiye tha…Voh kisi se nazre nhi mila rhe h us sb ke baad se… esa lagne lga h k kahi hum unhe kho hi na de es bar.
Aap bhi toh unse naraz the na sir. Voh bilkul toot se gye h… bikhar gye h. Akele pd gye hai. Hum hi iske zimeedar h sir... unhone kabhi hmara saath nhi choda... jb bhi kisi pr bhi musibat aayi...voh saath khade rhe aur humne kya kiya... unhe akela chod diya!
Saying so, he looked at Daya. A tear drop fell from Daya's eye which he removed harshly. Daya said in composed tone –
Nhi Freddy… main usse naraz nhi hun… main usee akela nhi pdne dunga… Voh toot nhi skta… main usee sambhal lunga… Chlo… bureau chlo jldi.
They sat inside the car and left for bureau. They reached there and saw, whole bureau was dipped in silence. Whole team was working in silence. Acp sir was also in his cabin, dipped in files. But Abhijeet was missing. Then he noticed him working on his laptop in a small cabin. He was fully engrossed in working. He cameout from the cabin to collect some printouts, after colecting them, again went inside the cabin. In the whole process, he did not look up once. Team looked at him going and felt guilty. They were thinking Abhijeet was so angry on them that he don't want to see them. But infact Abhijeet was feeling so humiliated that he thinks he can't face them now. Yes he was in the bureau, but only for the sake of his duty. Suddenly team noticed Daya came to ask his well being.
Purvi – Sir aap theek h?
Rajat – Sir abhi aapko aaram krna chahiye tha.
Shreya – Han sir itni jldi bureau nhi ana chahiye tha… aapko goli lgi thi na.
Daya (To Rajat and Purvi) – Main theek hun Purvi. Bhut aaram kr liya h ab kaam krne ki baari h. (To Shreya) – Mujhe goli lgi thi… jo un gundo ne Dr. se niklwa li thi jldi hi… (pointing towards Abhijeet) Voh dekho… Abhijeet ko… usee bhi nashili dwai wali dart lgi thi… jo Dr. ne aaj nikali h… 10 din baad… aur voh itne dino se kaam kr rha h…. bina aaram kiye. Usse toh kisi ne nhi kaha k ghar jake aaram krle ya dr. ko ek bar dikha le.
Shreya downed her head in guilt. Other team members too felt guilty as well as shocked on this new revealation.
And he left for towards his desk and started working. Actually he was just pretending to work, he was thinking to make a plan to comfort his brother.
Daya (thinking) – Kya krun… kuch samajh nhi aa rha. Abhi se kaise baat kru? Kahin na kahin uske is tareh se akele pdne ka reason main bhi hun. Sirf team se hi nhi, glti mujhse bhi toh hui h. Itni badi baat bhi nhi thi… Na main usse itna naraaz hota na voh khud ko akela smjhta. Aaj pehli bar smjh nhi aa rha k Abhi ko kaise mnau… (looking at him) Abhi toh baat krne ka koi fayda hi nhi… kaam ka bhana krke baat ko taal dega. Sham ko baat krtu hun… ghr pe ignore nhi kr payega. Aur jb tkk Abhijeet maan nhi jata… main peeche nhi hatunga… apne dost ko tootne nhi dunga.
His trail of thoughts broke due to sudden arrival of DCP Chitrole and DIG. Team got up from their seats and seluted them. Abhijeet, though not wanting to face this person right now, came out and seluted them. Acp too came out seeing them in bureau –
Sir aap log yahan.
DCP Chitrole – Han Acp… kuch baat krne aaye h. (turned towards Abhijeet in teasing smile) Senior Inspector Abhijeet!
Abhijeet (got in teasing but still in professional manner) – Sir!
DCP Chitrole (again teasing way) – Pichle case ki chargesheet aur file ready hui k nhi?
Abhijeet (again professional tone) – Yes sir… bs Acp sir ki sign pending h.
DCP Chitrole – Theek h. jao file lekr aao aur sign krwayo. Aur mujhe do.
Abhijeet went and came back with file. He handed over the file to Acp Pradyuman. Acp read the file, signed it and gave it to DCP Chitrole. He started checking it. Seeing too much wastage of time, DIG spoke –
Chitrole Acp ne file pdh ke hi sign ki h… Time waste mt kro. (To Acp) Pradyuman… hum tumhe ye btane aaye the k is case ki wajeh se tumhari team pr bhut pressure rha… toh humne socha h k tum sb ko including forensic doctors ko 2 din ki chutti di jaye. Tb tkk agr koi case aata h toh special bureau handle kregi. Voh log bs aate hi honge… aur apne laptops use krenge… tum log apne laptops ke passwords change krke sb kuch logout krdo… (explaining) security purposes ke liye. Hum log unhe guide krne ke liye hi yahan aaye h… tum log jao aur ab seedhe Monday ko hi report krna. Rajat forensic lab mein inform krdo. Rajat nodded and left to make a call to Dr. Salunkhe.
ACP Pradyuman – Thankyou very much sir.
Team was internally happy but didn't show in front of DCP and DIG. Both left the bureau premises for some time. Pankaj spoke –
Sir aaj toh mza hi aagya… abhi 2 din ki chutti bina kisi case ki tention ke…
Purvi – Han Pankaj… Main toh soch rhi hun… aaj jake pura din rest kru aur phir kll shopping. Kitne waqt hogya shopping hi nhi ki…. Kyu Shreya?
Shreya – Han Purvi… kll shopping pe chlenge… Tarika se bhi pooch lenge… teeno sath mein jayenge.
Freddy – Main toh soch rha hun k wife ko dinner pe le jau… uski bhi saari shikayetein door krdu.
While everyone discussing their plans, Dr. Salunkhe came there with Tarika and said –
Aree Boss… ye kya sbko ek saath chutti… Bhai esa mzak mt kiya kro tum mere sath.
Acp Pradyuman – Aree Salunkhe… ye mazak nhi sach h… Voh Chitrole ke sath DIG sahab bhi aaye the…abhi bahr gye h.
While seeing Dr. Salunkhe and Tarika there, Abhijeet started to wrap up his work. Feeling Abhijeet's silence since long, Rajat wanted to include him in the discussion so asked –
Abhijeet sir… aap bhi btayiye na… aapne kya socha h kya krenge 2 chuttiyon mein.
Abhijeet without looking at anyone silently said "Kuch Nahi" and left bureau. While team went silent after that and everybody left after wraping up their work.
Evening time…
After so much thinking about how to convince his buddy, Daya reached Abhijeet's house and without knocking entered inside. Seeing the house dipped in silence, he called –
Abhijeet…
Abhi… kahan ho?
Getting no reply, he entered in Abhijeet's bedroom while knocking once on the bedroom door. He saw Abhijeet was sleeping with his back towards him. He noticed a half-filled glass of water and empty packet of painkillers on bediside table.
Daya (thinking) – Shayd neck mein jyada pain ho rha hoga… isiliye pain killer leke so rha h… abhi sone deta hun…baad mein aake baat krta hun isse.
Thinking so he left the house. After the sound of his car stopped coming, Abhijeet opened his eyes and sat on his bed leaving his legs dangling down. He opened his fist where he kept the painkiller. He heard the sound of Daya's car but he did not want to face him at the moment so he pretended to sleep. He kept water and painkiller's packet to show that he is sleepin with effect of medicine. He knew Daya would not disturb him this way and would leave.
Abhijeet (thinking) – I am sorry Daya… Maine tera dil dukhaya h… isliye tujhse baat nhi kr pa rha hun.
He got up dialled a no.
