Chell treaded lightly in order to keep her boots from clicking on the floor. They needed to be as stealthy as they possibly could if they didn't want to alert whatever was holding Space captive. She was doing an outstanding job. The others however, weren't as great. Rick kept trying to take the lead from Chell, and (with him being 6"6 and it being 2"8) Wheatley kept tripping over the turret.

"Ow." it squeaked, after he accidentally kicked it.

"I'm sorry! You're just so bloody small! I can't see you!"

"Shhh!" Chell snapped.

The two shut up and multiple voices could be heard more clearly. She peeked around the corner, and looked down over a ledge. It was dark, but she could make out a cloud of black and grey shapes, with one yellow and grey one in the center. Space.

"And then, after we flew through the portal, we were on the moon, in space!"

He waved his hands in the air, illustrating a riveting, action-packed tale of some kind.

"Yeah, sounds like a good time." came a voice from the crowd.

The turret joined Chell's side to watch what was going on below.

"The bad ones guard him. What will we do?"

The bad ones? Chell pondered. Oh, defective turrets. She got a better look at one of them, and it actually made sense. Now GLaDOS was testing things she would normally view as worthless? She must really be desperate for something new. Chell was glad the AI finally found something else to keep her entertained, but was also slightly worried. How long before she becomes bored of these? And more importantly; what will she do then? If there's anything Chell was learning from being brought back to Aperture, it that when GLaDOS is bored, she becomes unpredictable. Well if she can be unpredictable then so will I.

"How are we supposed to get him out of there?" Wheatley whispered. "There's just too many of them!"

Rick scoffed.

"What're you scared of? They're just a bunch of defects. I say we go down there and give em' what for."

Chell shook her head.

"Not so fast. There's cameras down there. If we go then she'll see us."

"Well what's your plan then, angel?"

I'm about to break something.

Chell looked to the turret with a grin.

"You're loaded right?"

It gave a small nod in response.

Perfect.

"Just how tough are ya little guy?"

Space thought for a minute before answering matter-of-factly.

"Tough enough to live in space."

"Oh yeah?" the defective turret laughed. "You know I uh, once killed a guy."

"Really?" Space asked.

"Yep. I'm the toughest around."

A portal opened in the floor in front of Space without warning, causing the defective turrets to back away in surprise. A turret jumped through and stood firmly before the crowd.

"Heya, squeaky voice!" one of the defective ones greeted.

The turret was in no mood to speak with it. Instead, it was met with a gun to the face. It threw both hands up in surrender.

"Heyheyheyheyhey! No no no!"

The turret backed away slowly, and pushed Space into the portal. Before jumping through after him, it took aim and fired at every last camera in the room, without tearing it's gaze from the crowd. Space appeared on the other side, followed by the turret. Wheatley ran right up to Space and grabbed his face, searching for any damage that may have occurred during his little adventure. Then he started rapid-firing questions.

"Space! Oh my bloody- are you hurt? Are you feeling okay? How many fingers am I holding up? Can you say 'apple' ?"

Space struggled free from Wheatley, then stepped back and laughed.

"Apple. See? I'm okay space friend. I told them about space! Space rocks, stars, meteors, constellations, planets, space dust-"

"Okay you little rascal, we get it." Rick said, ruffling Space's hair.

"Who's that? New space friend?" he asked, pointing to the turret.

"I'm different."

Rick gave an annoyed sigh.

"It keeps saying that."

"Does it even have a name?" Wheatley questioned. "I don't think it does, being a turret and all."

"Athena was the Greek goddess of intellect, handicraft, and war. She was also known as Athene. Her name hints at the ancient city of Athens, suggesting the two were related."
