(An android? Is that different than a robot?) Tommy asked, not quite sure what Ax was getting at.

(A robot is usually created to undertake simple or dangerous tasks, while an android is usually created in the likeness of whatever life-form creates them,) Ax said, seeming as though he was familiar with the concept.

(You're familiar with this kind of thing?)

(Not this android in particular, but I have heard of the concept in school,) Ax said. (I doubt that this particular android is a Yeerk model, and certainly not Andalite. I confess, I have no idea where this android might have come from.)

(I guess that's fair,) he said, looking at the disguised android moving among the Controllers for whatever reason. (Jake? We spotted Erek, are you somewhere close?)

(Close enough. I think I see our guy; it's hard to tell with fly senses, but I see this person who's kind of… shimmering, all over, and it seems like there's something hidden under all that light.)

(Yeah, that's him,) Tommy said, pleased that Jake had been able to spot Erek, even though fly eyes weren't really the best. (Wait, there's two of them.)

(What?)

(Yeah, I just flew past one of them, and I saw just the same kind of shimmering that I saw around him,) Jake said, and Tommy found his attention suddenly dragged away by a shadow that had fallen.

He didn't know quite what it was, but Tommy was in the process of dodging when something scooped him up. He felt like he was drowning in darkness for a long moment, before something started pummeling him, and Tommy realized that he might just have been swallowed. Everyone else was calling to him, so Tommy figured that one of the others might have seen him be snapped up by… whatever bird had just tried to eat him.

(I'm… Well, I'm not all right, but I'm going to demorph,) he said, forcing himself to concentrate on his human body, and not to think about what his sudden growth was going to do to the bird who had just tried to eat him.
