Chapter 28 Eclipse Lake:

Amity was walking through the hallway of the Owl House with a clipboard in hand.

"Hooty, what's your status?" she asked.

Hooty broke through the glass.

"Perimeter secure. Nothing's getting past me," he said.

Amity nodded.

"Good. And uh, clean up that mess before someone steps on it," she said, walking to the kitchen.

"Aye! Aye!" Hooty said before using himself to sweep the glass up.

Amity walked into the kitchen to see Viney cooking as Willow and Kai walked in with groceries.

"Willow, have you gathered the supplies?" she asked.

Willow gave her a salute.

"Yes. We're ready to attack this on all fronts," she said.

A small white cat came towards the two girls with a spider in its mouth.

"Aw, Ghost. Did you help too? Who's a good Palisman?" Amity asked, scratching Ghost's chin.

She turned to Viney.

"How's the soup going, Viney?" Amity asked.

Viney didn't turn to her but gave her a thumbs.

"Going great," she said.

She smiled as Kai wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder.

"Smells good," the hybrid boy said.

"But does it taste good? That's the important thing," Viney said.

Kai hummed before kissing Viney on the cheek. The brown haired girl jumped slightly.

"Kai! I'm working with boiling broth, be careful," she said.

The hybrid boy chuckled before moving away. Amity shook her head at their antics.

"Okay, now all we need is-" she said before getting interrupted by Gus and King walking in with some CDs.

"Rain? Beach waves?" Gus asked.

"There's something called "lo-fi beats to study and relax too"? We've got it all," King said.

"Eda was rummaging through her basement and gave us some soothing human noises," Gus said.

Kai and Amity exchanged looks.

"Eda's still here?" she asked.

Kai shrugged and they walked to the living room.

"Aunt Eda, you were supposed to be helping Hooty with the defense-huh?" Kai asked.

In front of them, Eda was clenching every muscle in her body with an intense look on her face before she let out a scream. She wipes her brow.

"Whoo! Ah, don't mind me. I'm just learning how to turn into Harpy Eda on command. According to these human workouts, you just gotta scream a lot until you force your inner beast out," Eda said before resuming.

Kai and Amity had unnerved looks on their faces as the older boy grabbed the VHS tape. It was a Boiling Isles version of Dragon Ball Z. Amity looked at it over his shoulder.

"This looks ancient," she said.

Eda snorted as she took.

"What? No. It's only…30 years old!?" Eda exclaimed.

She scratched her head.

"I remember seeing this in theaters," Eda mumbled.

"Yes, you're old. Who cares? We have a crisis on our hands," Amity said.

Eda poked Amity in her forehead.

"Chill, bossy boots. Everything's fine," she said.

Amity walked to Luz and Kai's room, opening the door.

"Does this seem fine to you?" she asked.

She motioned to a sick Luz who was still in her pajamas and totally delirious with a mine abomination butler beside her.

"Whoa. It's like I have snakes for arms," she said, wiggling her arms.

Eda waved it off.

"It's just the common mold. Kai had it and he was completely fine, " she said.

Kai blinked.

'If you call vomiting every three minutes fine, ' he said in his head.

"Kai's a hybrid. His system is already adjusted to that and Luz's a human. We have no idea how it'll affect her," Amity said as Luz sat up in bed.

"If I ate the portal key, would I return back to the human realm?" she pondered, holding the key up.

Kai realized what she was about to do and quickly made his way to her bedside and snatched the key from his sister.

"This is staying with me until you're better, sis," he said, placing the key around his neck.

Luz pouted before pulling out a Tamagatchi pet and typing into it. Amity's pocket beeped and she reached in and pulled out a similar gadget to see a message from Luz. Kai looked at it over her shoulder and chuckled. Amity looked at Luz who gave her a smile.

"Oh, uh…hehe…you got it," she said, not understanding.

Luz gained a sad look as Amity closed the door and joined the others.

"I gotta admit, Amity, seeing you around more often is different," Willow said.

"I know but I was taught to see every situation as an opportunity and today, I'll show Luz that I am an awesome girlfriend," Amity declared.

"Feels like a few months ago you were trying to get Kai dissected by your crazy principal," King said.

Viney blinked.

"Wait what?" she asked.

Kai rubbed his neck.

"Long story," he said.

Luz screamed, causing Kai to kick the door open with his tanto out.

"Luz!" Eda and Amity shouted.

"M-Mouse! Uh. Philip diary entry," Luz said, pointing to the echo mouse.

The mouse's eyes glowed as it played the diary entry.

"After five years, I have finally found it. A power source so potent it can pierce through realms. Titan's Blood. There are old tales of lakes reflecting green trees and blue skies. The Titan's veins run through the land. And many believe that these wild portals are created when a little of its blood leaks into the water. That's how I came here. So that is the first place I shall look. I will journey back to Eclipse Lake,"

Luz wrote the location down in a notepad as the projection stopped. The mouse shook its head

"I have to go to Eclipse Lake!" she said.

Luz stood up and tried to jump out the door, causing Amity to duck, Viney to step out of the way and Gus and Willow to step out of the room as Kai and Eda caught her by the waist. Willow stood up.

"No. Luz, you are not well," she said, pushing her back into the room.

It was proven to be difficult as Luz fought against her friends' grip.

"How is she so strong?!" Gus exclaimed.

Being stronger, Kai managed to hold Luz down as he wrapped her tightly into a sleeping bag. Luz gave her brother a glare as Kai laid her down. He ruffled her hair before standing up and turning to the others.

"Okay, since Luz isn't in the right mindset, Aunt Eda, King and I will get the Titan's Blood," Kai said.

King cheered as he jumped on Eda's shoulder.

"Yes! A perfect chance to take our new powers for a test drive," he said.

Luz smiled at them.

"You're the best, guys," she said, handing them the map.

Kai took as the trio walked out of the room. Amity followed after them.

"I volunteer as well. As Luz's girlfriend, I must-" she said before Kai cut her off.

"We get it, Ami. Just make sure to bundle up," the hybrid boy said.

He turned to the other three.

"Willow, Gus, V, watch over Luz," Kai said.

"Yeah, she thinks she has snakes for arms," Eda said.

They all turned to Luz who was waving her arms around before looking at the others and hissed at them. Gus flinched. Kai shook his head as the other three went to get ready.

"We won't be long. See you guys," he said as he went out the door.

At the Knee:

The Emperor's coven was mining into the ground as Kikimora observed, searching for titan's blood.

"Dig faster scouts," Kikimora ordered.

The coven captain turned to her.

"Kikimora, these tunnels are unstable. Maybe we should slow down," she said.

Kikimora groaned.

"Not now, Captain. This could be my last chance to show Belos what I can do. And I just know that brat, Golden Guard, will try to spoil it," she said before noticing something.

"Hey, Steve! Jump over that chasm before I throw you in it!" Kikimora said.

The coven captain shook her head.

"She's getting so paranoid," she sighed.

Behind a tree, Hunter was dressed in a Coven scout's uniform as he turned away and lifted his mask. He noticed the little cardinal beside him and yelped.

"Why do you keep following me?" Hunter asked.

Lil Rascal chirped at him.

"I don't speak Palisman. Here's the plan. I slip in with this disguise, I find the Titan Blood before Kiki, I give it to Belos and Boom! I'm useful again," Hunter said.

He ducked down as the tree was blasted. The coven captain ran towards Kikimora.

"Ma'am, is everything alright?" she asked.

"I just thought I heard an annoying voice," Kikimora said.

Hunter ran off with the cardinal on his head.

"Another way in. We'll go find another way in," he said.

Lil Rascal chirped before flying to a tree. Hunter followed him and bent down to see Eda, Kai, King and Amity walking down a snowy path. Eda and Amity were dressed in some coats while Kai had a black puffer jacket, orange gloves, a black beanie and blue boots.

"Ugh! Great. The hybrid and his aunt and dog. And…is that the youngest Blight?" Hunter asked.

"This place is crawling with tools. What gives?" King asked.

"Titan Blood is the most powerful source of magic on the Isles. I'm not surprised Belos wants it too," Eda said.

Kai nodded before sensing a presence. He looked up to where he sensed it but saw nothing. Kai narrowed his eyes before continuing walking.

"Either way, we can't afford to mess this up. Luz is counting on me," Amity said.

Kai looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"I mean us," Amity said, rubbing her neck.

Up above, Hunter smirked.

"All right. New plan. We'll follow them to-" Hunter said before getting interrupted by Lil Rascal pulling on his hair.

"Hey! Hey!" Hunter exclaimed.

He grunted as he rolled down the hill and landed in front of the quartet.

"A coven scout!" Amity said.

She and Eda drew their staffs out as Kai aimed his blade at Hunter. Hunter stood up.

"Uh, yes. I am but a humble scout, and I surrender," he said.

King blinked.

"Huh, that was easy," he said.

Kai narrowed his eyes.

"Hang on guys, don't you recognize his voice," he said.

Hunter gulped.

'Oh titan,' he said in his head.

Hunter turned and ran off.

"Don't let him get away!" Eda said.

Kai swung his blade and sent a gust of wind at Hunter, knocking him to his feet and causing his mask to fall off. The others stood above him as Kai folded his arms.

"Just as suspected. It's Belos' right hand man," Eda said.

Amity gasped.

"The Golden Guard? He is a lot scrawnier than I imagined," she said.

Kai snickered as King laughed. Hunter glared at them.

Inside the Mines:

Eda burst through the wall with a flip before landing on her feet.

"Did I do it? Did I go into Harpy Mode?" she asked as the others walked in behind her.

"No. You just yelled "hoot" and ran headfirst into a wall of ice. Pretty funny actually," King said.

Eda gave him a small glare before following him. Kai and Amity were behind them with Kai in front of a tied up Hunter and Amity pointing her staff at the blonde boy.

"You can put down your staff. I won't run," Hunter said.

Amity scoffed.

"Too bad, because I don't trust you," she said.

"Same here," Kai said.

Hunter rolled his eyes as Eda looked around.

"Huh. This stuff is old," she said.

"Ancient witches used to mine the veins for titan bloo-" Hunter said.

"Yeah, they're not paying attention," Amity said.

Kai turned to see King aiming a drill at Eda.

"What are you guys doing?!" he asked.

"We're trying to see if the adrenaline of being in danger will kick in and I'll turn into Harpy Eda. Let her rip, King," Eda said.

King nodded as he turned the drill on.

"Don't!" Kai and Hunter both shouted.

But their shouts came too late as King fired the laser. The laser flew past Eda and bounced off the cave walls before heading towards the three teens. Kai made a wall of ice appear and blocked the laser. Hunter turned to Eda and King.

"Are you two dumb or something?! This isn't a normal cave. These walls are made of the veins of the Titan. Any magic you shoot will bounce right back at you," he said.

Eda snorted.

"You must be fun at parties," she said.

She turned to her adoptive son.

"Hey, King. How about you use your new powers to echolocate the lake," Eda suggested.

King grinned.

"Okay," he said.

He jumped down from the drill and stood in front of the entrance of the mine shaft. King took a breath before letting out a sonic shout.

"WEH!" he shouted.

The other four waited in silence before King turned around and shrugged his shoulders.

"Those two are definitely going to get us caught," Hunter said.

Kai turned to him.

"There ain't no "us",Pal," Kai said.

Hunter rolled his eyes as the group kept walking, not noticing Lil Rascal following behind them.

Back at the Owl House:

Viney and Willow were fixing the soup for Luz as Hooty and Gus were arguing over what music to play.

"Hooty, we are not going to make Luz listen to 24 hours of whale noises," he said.

Gus took the case out of Hooty's mouth.

"What even is a whale? It looks horrifying," he said.

Hooty huffed.

"Well, I've never heard of underground Korean hip-hop before," he said.

"It's human music and it's satisfying," Gus said.

Viney shook her head as she focused on the soup. Suddenly, Gus started humming one of the songs as Hooty imated a whale. Viney groaned as Willow turned to them.

"Will you guys be quiet?!" she asked.

The two boys immediately shut up. Willow took a breath as she calmed down.

"What if we played them at the same time?" she suggested.

Hooty and Gus gasped as they looked at each other. Viney shook her head as she poured the soup into a bowl.

"Nah! I'm out!" she said, walking upstairs.

Back with the others:

The group were walking along some train tracks as Lil Rascal flew ahead.

"You know, Kai and Luz told me about a trip to Latissa where they met someone very interesting. A beat-up blonde with no magical powers. She called him, and these are her words, "a bad but sad boy," "Eda said, smirking.

King laughed as Hunter's face turned light pink.

"If I ever see that human agai-" Hunter began.

Kai aimed the tanto to the back of his neck, the blade turning bright red.

"I dare you to finish that sentence," he growled.

Hunter rolled his eyes.

"At least I'm not delusional enough to think I can turn into a harpy," he said.

Eda turned and hissed at him.

"Hey. Come on. Give it a rest, you two," King said.

"Yeah, listen to your rat," Hunter said.

King growled and jumped on his head, pulling at Hunter's hair. Kai heard something and shushed them. Down below, The emperor's coven was walking through the mines before the captain stopped.

"Why are we stopping? Is the Golden Guard here?" Kikimora asked.

"No, ma'am. This path is dangerous. We need to be careful," the captain said.

"Careful takes too long. My butt is on the line, and so help me, Titan, if you ruin this, I will throw you off the tallest peak of the Knee with a smile," Kikimora said.

Eda winced.

"Woof. That girl is going through something," she said.

"And she's blocking the path to eclipse lake," Amity said.

"We need to create a distraction," Hunter said.

Eda stood up.

"On it! You kids wait for my signal," she said, climbing down the path.

Hunter smirked.

"That was easy. When they're caught, you and I can take the Titan Blood for ourselves," Hunter said.

Kai glared at him.

"Shut up. We're not even a team," he said.

Hunter closed his eyes.

"Might as well be. The Owl Lady and her rat have nothing at stake, unlike us," he said.

"You have no ide-" Amity said before her pocket beeped.

Amity blinked before clearing her throat.

"I was gonna say you have no-" she tried to say before her pocket beeped again.

Hunter gave her a raised eyebrow. Amity huffed as she turned away and pulled out her Tamagatchi pet. It was a message from Luz. Kai's eyebrows lowered as Hunter looked at it over Amity's shoulder.

"Oof. That doesn't look good," he said.

Kai pointed his blade at him.

"Back up," he said.

Hunter stepped back.

"But what does it mean?" Amity asked.

"Seems clear to me. Come back with results or else…You can figure out the rest," Hunter said.

"Shut up," Kai said.

Amity glared at Hunter.

"Luz wouldn't make that kind of threat. I'm an awesome girlfriend," she said.

Hunter raised an eyebrow.

"Has she told you that?" he asked.

Kai rounded on him.

"I know my sister better than anyone. She wouldn't say something like that," he said.

Hunter snorted and turned to Amity.

"We have a lot in common, Blight. We're both trying to show what we can bring to the table. And we can't fail 'cause there's nothing worse than disappointing someone who thinks you're special," he said.

Amity looked at the ground with a worried look. Meanwhile back with King and Eda, the two Clawthornes were trying to think of some distractions.

"Okay, watch this. I'll be the ghost of miners past and spook 'em out," Eda said, pulling her hair over her face.

"You look like one of my hairballs. Let's just do the trench coat thing," King said.

They both yelped as a fire spell flew past them. It bounced off the wall as the Aboma-trons made a shield around the coven members. Kai, Amity and Hunter ran off with Eda and King behind them.

"Why didn't you wait for our signal?" Eda asked.

"We don't have time to play around. We are getting that Titan Blood," Amity responded as they ran down the tunnel.

Unbeknownst to them, the Tamagatchi pet fell out of Amity's pocket.

Back at the Owl House:

Viney was walking up the stairs with a tray holding a bowl of soup and a cup of water for Luz. She pushed the door open to see Luz playing with the Echo Mouse.

"Little mouse, owl house, frilly blouse, boop," she sang as she tapped the echo mouse on its nose.

The mouse's eyes glowed yellow before playing another part of Philip's diary. Luz sat up as Viney placed the tray down.

"My journey to Eclipse Lake has been a success and yet, a tragic failure. The tunnels were filled with a substance known as Fool's Blood. It signifies a decaying rain. I was lucky to get out alive. My companions were not,"

The projection turned off as Luz gasped and Viney gained a worried look.

"Oh no! I've gotta warn Kai and Amity!" she said.

Luz tried to get up but her legs gave out and she fell. Viney reached out to catch her.

"Luz, you're still sick and need to rest. I'll try and call Kai," she said.

Viney pulled her scroll out and dialed Kai's number. The phone rang for a while before it stopped.

"Sorry the person you're trying to call is either not available or doesn't have access,"

Viney groaned as she hung up.

"I should've seen that coming. They're on the knee so there's probably no connection," she sighed.

Luz nervously pulled at her hair before getting an idea. She grabbed her Tamagatchi pet and sent a message to Amity.

Back with the others:

The group of five walked through the tunnel as Lil Rascal kept trying to sit on Hunter's shoulder. The blonde teen grunted as he nudged the little cardinal off.

"Hey. Find a different perch, bird," he said.

The group came to a stop as Amity and Eda gasped. All around were dark blue orbs.

"Is this titan's blood?" Eda asked.

Kai looked at the map.

"But it says here Eclipse Lake is farther ahead," he said.

"Who cares? We did it!" King cheered as he climbed off Kai's shoulder.

"Stop!" Hunter said.

Everyone turned to him.

"That's Fool's Blood. Don't touch it," he warned.

Eda scoffed.

"Why? So you can keep it all for yourself? Hard pass," she said.

She used her staff to hit the orbs. The orb cracked down the middle as the room shook.

"Huh?" Eda asked.

A long crack went through the ground before it opened, causing Eda and King to fall down a hole.

"AHHHHHH!" they screamed.

"Aunt Eda! King!" Kai shouted.

Kai and Amity were about to mount Ghost before Hunter stopped them.
"Wait, take me with you!" he said.

"Yoo-hoo! Golden Guard!" Kikimora said from down the tunnel.

Hunter turned to the two younger witches with a desperate look.

"At least untie me so I can escape," he said.

Kai and Amity exchanged looks before the younger girl groaned.

"Ugh. Fine," she said.

She undid the abomination bindings.

"So, where will you go now?" Amity asked.

Hunter rolled his shoulders.

"Now…" he began.

Hunter bent down and knocked Amity's feet from under her, sending the purple haired girl to the ground. Kai bent down beside her as Hunter climbed into a minecart.

"...I get to Eclipse Lake before anyone. Byeee!" he said as he went down the tracks.

Kai growled.

"I'm going to kill that punk!" he said.

But before he could get up, a shadow loomed over the two kids. Kai and Amity looked up to see Kikimora and the three coven scouts standing above them.

"Looks like we found our little fire starters," Kikimora said.

Later:

Amity was sitting on the ground while Kai stood with two of the scouts holding his arms.

"So… the Golden Guard is also looking for Titan's Blood, and he took off to Eclipse Lake. I knew it. That little snake is always making me look bad. But now I can get my revenge!" Kikimora said, cackling.

The coven captain cleared her throat.

"Ma'am, what about the Titan Blood?" she asked.

"Yes, that too," Kikimora said as she clapped her hands.

The Abomaton turned into a minecart as Kikimora hopped inside.

"This is going to be a good day," she said.

"Ma'am, what should we do with the girl and the hybrid?" the captain asked.

"Oh, I don't care," Kikimora replied.

She snapped her fingers as she and the other two scouts drove off. The captain looked at the two kids.

"So, uh, did you two come with anyone else, or…Ugh! This is boring!" she groaned.

She picked the two of them up by their collars and tossed them down the ravine. The two kids screamed as they fell. Kai grunted as he was caught by his hood thanks to Eda. He reached out to grab Amity, holding her hand tightly. The Tamagatchi pet hit Kai in the head and Amity caught it before it could fall. Eda grunted as she lifted Kai up. Kai grabbed onto the Owl Staff with one hand before pulling Amity up with the other. Amity managed to climb onto Kai's back as the hybrid boy kept a tight grip on the staff.

'Thank god for those arm exercises,' he said in his head.

"Are you guys okay?" Amity asked.

"Just barely. Owlber's knocked out, so we can't fly," Eda said.

Kai sighed.

"And I can't use my wind to repel us to the top because I can't carry all four of us," he said.

King huffed.

"I'm just throwing it out there but this would be a great time to bring out Harpy Eda," he said.

"I. Don't. Know. How. I've tried yelling at it, scaring it," Eda said.

Owlbert let out a squawk as he began to crack. King turned to Eda.

"Have you tried talking to it?" he asked.

I…No. I guess I didn't, but hey, it's a wild animal," Eda said.

"You thought I was a wild animal once," King said.

Kai turned to his Aunt.

"He's got a point," he said.

They all yelped as the staff shook.

"Ugh! I'll try…just…give me a second," Eda sighed, closing her eyes.

The other three waited with bated breaths.

"What? You wanna make a deal?" Eda asked.

Kai nervously looked at Owlbert.

"Um, Aunt Eda…" he said.

"Wait. I don't know if I can," Eda said.

Owlbert let out another squawk as Eda sighed.

"Okay. I'll do it. Just change now!" Eda said as she opened her eyes, showing that they were black and yellow.

A bright yellow light flashed as Eda flew out of the ravine with Kai on her back and King and Amity in her arms.

"Haha! Yes!" she cheered as she flew through the mines.

"What kind of deal did you make with it?" Kai asked.

"I don't want to talk about it," Eda said.

She went down the tunnel.

"I can't wait to see a real-life mine cart chase," King said.

"Huh?" the group asked as they stopped to see that the coven members had crashed.

They winced.

"I guess mine craft chases are a lot more dangerous than video games make them seem," King said.

Kai spotted Ghost in the ground and grabbed the staff, handing it to Amity. The younger girl looked ahead to see a sign that said "Eclipse Lake".

"There it is!" she pointed.

They all grunted as Eda was grabbed by her foot. The group looked down to see the coven captain.

"I don't know who you freaks are, but that blood belongs to Kikimora!" she said.

They all screamed as Eda was slammed to the ground. Kai rubbed his head as he helped the others up.

"You guys get to the lake. I'll take care of-Woah!" Eda yelped as she was thrown into a wall.

"Eda!" King shouted.

Kai picked him up.

"Make a move, cuz!" he said as they ran towards the lake.

The captain threw her spear at the kids but Eda flew in and stopped it. She growled as she snapped the spear in half.

"Alright, Owl Beast. Let's see what we can do!" Eda said as she charged at the captain.

Kai, Amity and King walked out of the tunnel. Amity looked at the map before looking ahead to see Hunter in a dried out lake. The trio carefully made their way towards him.

"Don't worry. I won't pick a fight. There's no Titan Blood," Hunter said.

Kai blinked.

"Then why are you digging?" he asked.

Hunter chuckled as he turned to them.

"Oh, it's simple really. Belos needs Titan Blood to make a new portal key. Can't get to the Human realm without it," Hunter said.

Amity gasped and leaned towards Kai.

"There's blood in the key?" she asked.

Kai clenched the key hidden under his shirt.

"Since I failed my last mission, I thought, "Hey a chance to make up for it,". But I can't go back empty handed. Not again," Hunter said.

'And Hunter's gone bye-bye,' Kai said in his head.

"Long story short, this is my grave," Hunter said.

He turned to the others.

"Want me to make you one too?" he asked.

King gained a slightly upset look.

"This is really bumming me out," he said.

Kai nodded.

"That's life, rat. Everyone has a use and if you don't: Pfft! Bye-Bye. Your friend gets it," Hunter said.

Kai and King looked at Amity.

"What's he talking about?" King asked.

Amity sighed as she pulled out her Tamagatchi pet.

"Luz has been sending me these strange human codes. I don't understand all of them, but this one seems pretty clear. Come back with results or we're done," Amity said.

Kai looked at it.

"Wait…" he said.

He turned the device sideways so the symbols spelled "You Are Rad". Amity blinked.

"You are rad. Fool's Blood Bad. Are you okay? Come home," Amity read.

She laughed.

"Of course. This is Luz we're talking about," Amity said.

Kai ruffled her hair.

"Ami, you matter as much to Luz as she does to you. Kind of like me and Viney. We don't show it as much as you do, but we do show that we both care for one another," he said.

Amity smiled at him.

"Hey!" Hunter called.

They all turned to see Lil Rascal pulling on Hunter's hood before the blonde witch swatted him away.

"Go find a better witch to be with," Hunter said as he fell face first into the dirt.

Kai and Amity exchanged looks before walking towards Hunter and kneeling down beside him.

"You know, you were right. We do have a lot in common. I grew up thinking that everything was an opportunity to justify existing, but there are people out there who won't make you feel worthless," Amity said.

She looked at Kai with a smile. Kai gave her a grin and a thumbs up.

"You just have to let yourself meet them," Amity said.

Hunter looked at them before noticing the key peeking out of Kai's shirt. His eyes widened as he slowly sat up. Kai looked at him confused before realizing what he planned to do.

'Oh shit,' Kai said in his head.

He grabbed Amity and rolled out of the way just as Hunter reached onto to take the key. The two kids grunted as they landed on their feet.

"Oh, come on. Being nice usually works for Luz," Amity said.

Hunter turned back to them and moved to run towards them. King jumped in front of Kai and Amity as he let out a sonic shout. Lil Rascal flew in front of Hunter, blocking the attack as he turned into his staff from. Hunter grunted as he teleported.

"These staffs are weird," he said.

Hunter grunted as he was tied with abomination goop. He looked at the two younger kids who stood there with their weapons drawn. Hunter teleported away. He reappeared in the sky and shot a laser at the two younger kids and demon. Kai grabbed King as he and Amity dodged the attacks by hopping onto Ghost. Kai stomped the ground, making a rock wall come up and blocked the lasers. Hunter flashed behind Kai and reached for the key. King raced to his cousin's side and tackled Hunter, sending him to the ground. King landed on his feet but was left in surprise as Hunter teleported away. Kai and Amity stood side by side as Hunter teleported above them. Kai summoned a rock shield and blocked his attacks. Now back to back, Kai and Amity worked together to block Hunter's attempts to attack them. Hunter appeared beside Kai who moved to the side so Amity could send a punch to Hunter's face. Hunter staggered back holding his face. Amity used her staff to make a giant spell circle. A giant abomination appeared above Hunter before it covered him. Amity and Kai climbed onto Ghost as the younger girl grabbed King so they could escape. Unfortunately, they couldn't get far as a giant ice fist knocked them into the air. Kai pulled Amity and King against him as he made an air scooter to cushion their fall. The trio grunted as they fell on the ground. Hunter stood in front of them and Kai stepped in front of the two younger kids, fists up.

"Listen, you're both strong and I'm tired. If this continues, you'll end up escaping. But here's the thing, hybrid: We know where to find you, your friends and your sister," Hunter said.

Amity gasped as Kai gripped the key tightly as a crack was heard.

"So, unless you want something to happen to them, I suggest giving up that key," Hunter said.

Kai sighed as he took the key off his neck. He walked towards Hunter but stopped.

"But let's just make one thing clear," Kai said.

He drew his tanto out and held it up against Hunter's neck.

"Stay..away from my family. You come after them, I'll come after you, hear me?" Kai asked, his green eyes flashing yellow.

Hunter nodded and Kai handed him the key.

"Appreciate it," he said.

Kai glared at him as Hunter flew off. Eda flew in.

"I heard fighting! Where's the nerd?" she asked.

She then saw the three kids sitting there with upset looks on their faces.

"Oh, damn it," Eda said.

Back at the Owl House:

Viney was sitting in the den on the couch when the door opened. She turned to see Eda in her Harpy form as Kai, Amity and King tried to help her inside the house. Kai looked at his girlfriend.

"Hey, V, um, can you go grab an elixir? Aunt Eda went harpy and now she can't get out," he said as Willow, Gus a Luz, who was better from the common mold, ran in.

"She also ate nine voles on the way home," King said.

"Hey, I had to keep up my end of the bargain," Eda said.

Kai gave a hard tug and yelped as Eda fell, bringing King and Amity with her as they landed on Kai. Amity rubbed her head as she sat up and grunted as Luz hugged her tightly.

"Amity! I'm so glad my awesome girlfriend is okay," she said.

Amity blushed before smiling and hugging her back.

"Me too," she said.

Kai smiled as Eda leaned towards him.

"So are you going to tell her about the whole dried up lake, no Titan Blood, golden guard and lost key problem?" she whispered.

Kai looked down at his hand and opened it to show the titan blood from the key on his gloved hand.

"I think we'll be fine," he said.
