"So was this the official first date?" I smiled.
"Ummm... I don't know!" He said, "I wanted to do something fancy for the first date, but we didn't have many options tonight since it was too late," he sighed.
We've had several lunches and dinners together in the past few weeks, and even though today's dinner might not look so different from them from a high level perspective, it was so different!
"It was perfect," I smiled.
"Well, we'll definitely do something better," he smiled, "Are you sure you have to go?"
Well, I didn't want to leave, but I had an early morning meeting tomorrow, and I needed to get something ready before that. Plus, both of us hadn't slept at all since the last two nights, so it was important to get some rest. I felt like finally I'd be able to sleep well tonight!
And one more reason was, this was still too surreal to me! I needed some time alone to process what actually happened today!
"Yeah," I smiled, "I'll call you tomorrow once I'm back from the office."
"Sounds good," he smiled as pulled me closer to kiss me.
I received a call from his mother once I reached back to my apartment.
"I'm so sorry, honey," she said, "I know what you must be going through..."
And that's when I remembered again that Edward and I still had a long way to go before everything could be normal.
"Thanks, I'm doing okay," I said, "I'm sure it must be difficult for you too. I'm sorry for everything you've had to go through..."
"I'm really mad at both of them," she said, "I'm really mad at Masen for everything he has done, and also at Edward! Because he's also not being wiser and he's just... He's just fueling the situation," she said.
I was sure a lot of drama must have happened at their home after the party.
I should have talked to Edward about it, but we had decided to ignore everything else for tonight, so we didn't even bring up this issue!
We should have talked! Maybe I should call him after this call, I thought.
"I've been trying to explain both of them, but you know how stubborn they both are," she said.
"I've a feeling they're going to do something stupid and I don't want you to get hurt," she said, "Please stay away from them if you can, please! We've had enough drama. I don't want any of you to be the subject of gossip, and it's already getting crazy here!" She sighed.
"Masen demanded a simple promise from Edward to stay away from you, and he refused to do that..."
I shook my head.
"I've a feeling Edward is going to do something stupid to instigate Masen. Just stay away from him, okay?" She said, "I don't want you to get hurt in their fight!"
