Chapter III: Shit's going down

Daniel Martinez was worried about his cousin, she is pretty much his little sister, considering that she lives with him. He knows that something has to be off if she acts like this. He kept an eye on Jack Fenton, and to his surprise, he really acted different. Not in a way a person would act that thinks they embarrassed themselves in front of a bunch of teens and a teacher, no, he acted calmer and somewhat more confident. This confuses Dan in so many ways.

In his thoughts, he was behind everyone else in the group, as Lancer decided to talk with the only other adult. Not that surprising. Besides Hannah, most think that exploring an abandoned basement, even from an asylum, is boring. So talking with others, it's not surprising. He is just lucky that he is in a group with Hannah and Nathan. Though, he s stuck with Lancer... not sure it that's much better. He saw that his sister was picking up something, a weird looking pendant. He polished it a bit and but it into her pocket, on the inside of her vest. Seeing this, and knowing Hannah collects like a chipmunk, he wonders what she had collected by now in her vest. The last time she emptied the vest, she found a $50 bill in there. She collects the weirdest stuff.

Daniel wasn't much of a collector of the random, or physical at all, but when he found a similar pendant himself on the floor, his curiosity was tickled. He saw that the others aimed for a part of the basement that was cut off by doors, he decided he can catch up to them easily, so he took a more detailed look at the pendant. The band it hung on was a purple fabric, it felt like silk or something, but the rims were worn down, not new at all. The pendant itself was metal and shaped like a gear, like of a clock. It had two letters on it, a W and a C. But other symbols as well, if they were symbols, they looked like gibberish scratched into the metal. He polished it and put it around his neck, putting the pendant into his sweatshirt.

Looking up, he saw that the group was now in the next part of the floor, when Jack stopped to walk. He turned to the group and his eyes glowed reddish pink. Said male fell to the ground and a misty figure parted from him, before materializing from behind.

"Surprise!"

The group yelled and the ghost just laughed, "You can't do anything!"

The doors closed and cries of pain were to hear, before they fell silent. Daniel's eyes widen and he ran off. Hannah was right, something is off! Very off! Running, he heard how the door opened and the being came put. Thinking fast, he fled into a room and kept silent. The door to his hideout wasn't closed, so he heard the male mumble, as well as see his ghostly glow though the split of the door.

"One teen fled... but I can't sense him... how weird... hm... now I better deal with the ones I got." the glow disappeared and Dan waited. After what felt like hours, he had enough courage to walk out of the room and walk the way they came. He kept silent and had hidden himself besides many nooks and crannies, seeing being him in their protection to see if the ghost is out again, if something is following him. Seeing nothing, or rather nobody, he continued his way.

The further he came, the more he allowed himself to sink into his thoughts. He marked the place where Jack's possession was revealed on the map, with pen he had with him. Grabbing said map and pen, he remembered the weird looking pendant. He wondered, did it suppress his presence? Is it the reason why the ghost didn't attack him? He hopes so, and he hopes his Hannah had some protection as well. He also decided, if he finds any, he has to collect them, if he finds others, that they have protection as well. But maybe it's just a vague bacon of hope he grasps on.

Walking further, he wondered what is going on, why is this happening? He just hopes his other classmates are fine... he realizes, they weren't given a time to collect outside, to end the field trip...

Is this a trap? Stacy and Marco... he remembers that some ghosts faked to be human, maybe these two did too? Or were at least possessed like Jack Fenton. Maybe they have no time window, so that the ghost or probably ghosts can catch them all? What is going on?

He found the room were Jack was probably possessed, where he claimed to have fallen over cartons. A side of him wants to look for glues, his damn wish to become a detective, a hero in his own way, like their hero Danny Phantom. The ghost boy was for many a hero, for some an evil that has to be ended. For Daniel Martinez, he is an idol, and a light for Dan in his darkest hour. He took his courage and walked in, he made his flash light a bit brighter when he was in and closed the door, to not attract any ghosts.

Looking though the room, he saw something. A gun, a ghost gun. Picking it up, he guessed Jack dropped it when he was getting possessed. He decided to take the gun with him, sure, they hadn't training that extended the Wrist Rays, but Dan learned to shoot real guns from his dad... before he died. His dad was a detective, his other idol. His mom was a cop and didn't want him to follow them, but after Danny Phantom saved her and Hannah, and all of Amity, he didn't care. When Phantom defies his whole kind, so he can defy his mother to protect them!

He put the gun onto his belt. The belt, like all belts owned by his dad, had holsters for guns, and that one barely fit the ghost gun. Walking out of the room, he felt more confident and walked more fast paced though the basement corridors. He still had his flash light on the lowest brightness, though.

...

After what felt like an hour, Tucker had the courage to talk to Tiffany. He walked up to the dark skinned beauty and said to her, "You know, Tiffany, that you balance your grades and your social life with the A-list is super impressive. Others won't manage."

Tiffany smiled, "Thank you for this compliment, Foley. Also, others aren't me, so that could be a reason."

"Now... any plans after the trip?" asked Tucker.

"Are you... asking me out?"

"Only if you want to." replied Tucker.

"Hm... it would piss off Paulina and Dash... but who cares. We a senior years and we prepare for our adult lives, who needs this stupid social list." said Tiffany, "I won't block my grades for some social bullshit anymore. So, sure, we can date. But I warn you, I spent a lot of time learning."

"So do I."

"Great! We can learn together." chirped Tiffany. "But now, let me decipher this writing."

"Yes, Tiffany!"

Turning away from Tiffany, he silently celebrated. Kwan saw this and gave him a thumbs up, so did Ashley. He apparently told the blonde from this.

Group D on the other side of the building had a lesser peaceful time. Paulina continued to bug the goth, Rebecca watched them like a drama and Mia and Henry just ignored their bullshit. They were walking though one of the higher levels, when they suddenly walked into Group E. Danny rushed to Sam and informed her how the dome.

"Should we tell the others?" asked the dyed black haired girl. The natural black wanted to answer yes, but Mikey chimed in, "We already told the others."

"Oh." was all Danny had to say.

The groups split again, as Sam guessed they are more effective when split up. But before they parted ways, Sam said, "Wait, Danny! Look what I found!"

She gave him a pendant, shaped like a gear, with the two letters and weird symbols.

Sam started, "It looks like his medallions..."

"But different." ended Danny. "I think I can decipher the symbols."

Sam nodded and followed her group. Back with her cohort of idiots, Paulina once again teased her.

"Not your boyfriend, yet you gave him this thing?" she mocked. "He finished your sentence, Manson!"

"Oh shut it, Sanchez! It is a ghost artifact and Danny, as the son of ghost hunters, knows a thing or two, so I gave it to him. Maybe it's a glue to the dome Dash mentioned."

"Manson is right, we should continue to look for glues about this." agreed Henry.

"But I just want to know who Samantha likes!" argued Paulina.

Sam snapped at her, "Don't call me 'Samantha'! And if you want to know, I like Tucker, okay?!"

The group froze.

"You? Like Foley? I... Huh, I didn't see that one coming." chimed Mia in, "And Danny?"

"Danny? He is just a friend, and an idiot sometimes." replied Sam, "Though, he tries to learn the language of the ghosts."

"That sounds cool!" chirped Rebecca, "Any progress?"

"He called Tucker an idiot in ghost. Tsieg, I think. It was funny." answered Sam, "Though, his parents thought a ghost was in the house and scanned the whole house for three hours for the ghost. Talk about ghost obsession."

The group laughed.

"Hey, Manson. You seemed to recognise the medallion?" stated Henry.

"I do. These medallions are connected to a ghost... but they aren't supposed to have these symbols, just the initials of the ghost... and they were in a different colour slightly..." replied Sam, "And they felt different... well, Danny probably knows more..."

The Fenton Phone rang and Sam accepted the call.

"Sam?! Is something wrong?" asked a panicked Tucker, Danny added, "Yeah, we heard you yell."

"No, I just snapped at Paulina." explained Sam.

"Did she call you 'Samantha'?"

"Yes, Valerie." said Sam. She then remembered, "Ah, the dome!"

"Dome?" asked Tucker.

"Yeah, Group E and I discovered that the asylum is surrounded by a dome of ghostly energy. Also, weird, influenced version's of Clockworks Medallions, we found some around here. They seem to be connected to the dome with some curse. I try to decipher the ghost language on them, that's all I gathered so far."

"Oh shit!" yelled Tucker, before de-joining the call.

The call ended and Valerie was frustrated. Ghosts once again screw with her! This can't become worse, can it? Probably, she shouldn't jinx her chance. They continued to walk though the asylum, everyone keeping their eyes open, scanning their surroundings for anything suspicious. Before they knew about this, that something supernatural is happening, most jut thought of St. Nora as boring, as just an abandoned building, filled with dirt, broken stuff, broken windows that let light in. Now, now the building is actually creepy, more that just eerie, they are afraid of what may happen to them.

Walking though the corridor, the building even seemed darker now, now that they are aware that darkness is lurking. Star was the most worried, she felt so useless, as she is a belt wearer, and has no weapons. But near her class mates, she feels safe. She felt a presence behind her, it was probably Dale. Since Valerie rejected him, Dale stayed behind, and even with her loud pressure, he still kept back. At least Valerie now talks to her, Sarah and even Liam.

The group was exploring a room, but Star, she doesn't want to go in, that room is... too much medical equipment of the nasty kind, at least that was Star's reason upon stepping into the room, she rushed out instantly and told them she will stay in the corridor and keep an eye on everything, apparently Dale had a similar idea.

A question popped into her mind, "Hey, Dale, can I ask you a question?"

"You already asked one, Star!" replied the males voice, from the room her group was in.

She froze, if Dale and the others are in the room, what is behind her. She turned slowly around, just to see a ghost behind her. She yelled and the ghost attacked her, but upon touch, he was the one yelling, yelling in pain. Star's belt, made to deflect ghosts, did it's job, shocking the ghost to stay away from it. Her group came and attacked the ghostly man.

To their surprise, around Valerie, a black and red suit armor appeared, revealing her as the Red Huntress. She shot the ghost with one of her guns and hell broke loose. Star, afraid shitless, was weak to her flight instinct and ran. A different, female appearing ghost, came, and she chased after Star, sensing that the blonde is weak, that she would be a weak catch. She wasn't aware of the belt.

She wasn't able to catch Star, who ran, and ran, and ran as fast as her feet could carry her. She rushed down the stairs, away from the ghosts. For many levels, she didn't look back, checking if any ghost was behind her. She was on the ground floor, when suddenly something pulled her into a small niche. She was hugged by someone, by Daniel Martinez. She blushed at this.

"Star, I wear a medallion that hides me and you from the ghost's senses, that's why I hug you. I will give you one as well." explained Daniel. "I want you to run out of here and get help, tell the authorities, anyone! My group got caught by the ghosts, they yelled in pain... I-I can just imagine what happened to them. I stay here and search for Danny, or Maddie, any ghost expert. No all groups! We need to stick together, but you need to flee and call for help."

Star nodded into his chest. She felt how he put something into her pocket of her leather jacket.

"Or did anyone leave the building yet?" asked Daniel. Star shook her head.

"Danny, Sam, Tucker and Valerie, as well as Mrs. Fenton want to face the ghosts, find out what is going on. And no one wants to leave, but I will!"

"Than our ways split now, Star Morgan." said Daniel and ran out. Star saw the ghost gun on his belt. She just hoped he finds them, in this labyrinth of a building. Daniel was gone and she rushed out of the entrance, turning around for a last look, she was shocked. It looked different from when they arrived. More windows broken, some boarded, and the building just looked worse. More vines on the wall. Is this another effect of the dome? Star doesn't know.
