Chapter 82
As the sun was setting and the people were doing whatever it was they needed to do, from eating to playing around, in Beacon, everyone was getting ready. While news about Salem coming has yet to be told, the students and Huntsmen, still wary of any attacks from the Grimm or Demonic Beasts, maintained their weapons or trained. Keeping themselves in good shape to ensure that they'd be ready for the next attack that may come. They had to, seeing as so much havoc had been happening in this past year where the city of Vale itself collapsed from the invasion and the attack by Merlot.
Of course, even such hard workers enjoyed some much more satisfying time off whenever they weren't working or training.
Some volunteered to help repairs in Vale.
Others comforted the civilians and hung around with them.
A few played games from regular sports to video games.
It's also known that thanks to some looting in Vale's ruins, a nice amount of media had been found in some stores. Where later, an outdoor viewing spot has been made where films are shown daily outside of Beacon. Countless watching the movies that should have been out already or just re-watching old films that came out before the fall.
"Oh. I'm liking this." Ritsuka, sitting next to Gudako and Mash, chewed some popcorn and swallowed soon after. Taking a sip of soda before his jaw dropped at what he saw. "Did you see that!?"
"Shhh. I'm watching." Gudako hissed at him as she then turned back to the film. Giggling as she then saw the Huntsman attack the Grimmified Colossus that attempted to kill the hero. That is until a helicopter came in and shot some missiles at it. The Grimmified machine screeching in agony.
"So this is what this world's films are like." Mash observed closely while petting Fou who's also watching.
"I don't know." Kadoc narrowed his eyes before rolling them. "The concepts displayed here seem the same as back home." Granted, the movie wasn't too bad. A simple action-adventure film with some romance in between. Where the main character and his allies fought against an infectious Grimm that controlled Atlas war machines and began trying to take over the world.
"Even in another dimension, films are the same." Da Vinci ate some candy before frowning. Watching as one of the support cast fell off the helicopter from a counter attack before landing on the ground, but only after hitting a tarp to break his fall. "Hmm. That seems unbelievable. And last I checked, that dude had no aura." His back should be broken since no way a simple tarp would protect him, let aside his head."
"It is a film, Da Vinci." Holmes softly chastises his friend while chuckling. "Not everything is supposed to be realistic. Especially in films that are meant to entertain."
"I know, I know." Da Vinci supposed Holmes was right. While annoying, one should remember films, comics, stories and anime are all made to entertain. So some unrealistic things should be expected since otherwise, that'd take away the fun from the entertainment if one narrowed their view of the media too greatly.
"Hmm." In the meantime, Goredolf, who's happily chewing on the snacks he bought, rubbed his chin. "I forgot, how did this incident start again?" The Director of Chaldea looks at Shirou. "Was it when the Geist took over some super computer?"
"Close." Shirou took a bite from his hotdog. "It was when some idiot brough the Geist into the command center and the Geist shut down all the defenses. Where after it killed countless people it then began infecting the systems until it eventually took over the command computer."
"Humans." Akuta huffed as she drank some water. "As always, even now they make idiotic mistakes." The Grimmified Colossal then shrieked as it called upon the infected Paladins and Knights to back it up. "If this film ends with everyone dying, then it's their fault for being such a stupid species." I mean, bringing a Grimm in a highly secure area was their own fault.
"Come now sweetie. This is just a film." Pepe told Akuta while smiling. "We should focus on other matters."
"Like?"
"Like the romance between those two." Pepe then gave a slight squeal after seeing how the protagonist is being supported by the female cast. The two fighting as one as they killed the Grimmified Knights while giving each other romantic glances. "Ohhh. Don't you just like love?"
"...A little." Akuta then continued watching though still not minding if this film ended with a downer ending for humanity.
"...seriously?" All while Rin looked at everybody else, in outright disbelief, that they're wasting their time watching a film. "Are we actually watching a film instead of talking strategy?" It was supposed to be a rhetorical question.
"I'm afraid so." One that's answered in a playful manner. As sitting down in the outdoor cinema are countless people across Beacon. Which included all sorts of people in Beacon. EMIYA, sitting right next to Rin in casual clothing while giving his former Master a smug look while wearing glasses. Also in the audience were Blackbeard, Ana, Sanzang and Nezha with Sun, the three members of Team RW_Y, JN_R, the Summer Maiden Erice herself with Voyager, and so many others. Even Glynda and her fellow teachers are here, watching the film.
"Ugh." Honestly, Rin found this both irritating and equally confusing. On one hand, she did understand everyone needed a break. Even Chaldea, for all their time-hopping, monster-and-god slaying adventurers, took breaks with the Servants they met. On the other hand, last she checked, she and everyone had been told some jerky immortal witch is coming and they're just wasting time by watching some B-Rated film.
"Want some candy?" EMIYA asked Rin, still smiling at her in amusement. Much to her ire. "Or perhaps you'd like to go back to the Storm Border?"
"I think I will." Rin then got ready to stand up.
"Oooohhh." Before everyone in the audience 'oohed' at the scene of the protagonist punching the Geist out of its primary body. Only for the Geist to look much larger than it should with multiple limbs and countless glowing eyes. The final battle between Grimm and man is about to happen.
"After a few more minutes." Unabashedly, Rin took EMIYA'S candy and began eating it. The Servant just chuckling as he was glad Rin was doing alright. Throwing a smirk at Shirou who frowned at him. Even if both, mainly EMIYA, didn't want to kill the other anymore-for the most part-the two still had a tense relationship. At the very least they can put up with one another.
Everyone enjoying themselves on this fine evening watching this film with Chaldea joining in simply because it was fun. That, and not often they could watch a film from another world, especially as their adventurers usually ended with them in a time period where films didn't exist by that point.
Anyway, as everyone was enjoying the final climax, Ritsuka then realized something. In a hush tone and whisper, Ritsuka spoke to Mash, "Psst. Hey. Mash." The Demi-Servant heard and turned to face him.
Whispering, "Yes senpai."
"I just realized, where's Sion?" Not wanting to miss the film, Ritsuka never really looked around the audience. However, he didn't remember Sion or Captain coming at all while everyone else did.
"She should be back at the Storm Border with Captain still senpai. And-" Before Mash could continue on, Gudako turned to them and raised her finger to her mouth. Saying 'Shhh' to them both before turning back to the film.
"We'll talk later." Ritsuka then said with Mash nodding. Fou, on Mash's lap, was glad for that as the small Beast watched the Huntsman punch the mutated Geist in the face. Everyone in the audience cheered as the two characters clashed in this final showdown.
"And there we go." All while Sion herself grinned at what she's doing. Sure, watching a movie did sound nice with all her friends and allies. But the Atlas Institute member always found studying to bring more joy. Especially when it was items and material from another world. That, and she can watch the film later as she set up a device to record the movie.
Technically piracy, but eh, nobody will know.
"So then, find anything interesting?" Sion's Servant, Captain asked, as he stepped up behind Sion to see if she finished her studying. In this case, some Dust she got from Beacon which she placed in a containment unit and began analyzing it.
"I did." With a chuckle, Sion showed Captain the results on her tablet. Not that he understood it all, seeing as he's just a simple captain of piloting the Storm Border, not a scientist. Thankfully, Sion was already about to explain.
"I've been examining the crystalline form of Dust here, and I must say, my hypothesis was correct. As always?" Adjusting her glasses, Sion gave a victorious look. While she didn't have as huge an ego like Da Vinci, Sion herself held pride in her knowledge. Especially when it came to solving things.
"And what was it you found?" Captain asked.
"Easy." Sion tapped on her tablet and checked out the composition. "That the energy here is very similar to what you might find in a magus. Magical energy. Even if the wavelengths are a bit different."
"So, what you're saying is that this is…something from a magus?" While Captain knew many things, he had never been a magus in life. Sure he knew a lot thanks to Sion, but that didn't make him an expert. Thankfully, Sion easily explained anything he didn't have the context of as a way to help him out.
"Something like that." Sion told Captain while the containment unit retracted and revealed the Dust crystal which can now be grabbed. "Basically put, it's like someone had all their magical energy shoved into this crystal here. Into all the Dust really that can be found throughout Remnant. Each Dust piece I found all gave the same readings like this." Sion then grabbed the Dust crystal and leveled it at her eyes.
"It's like the jewel magecraft that the Tohsaka's use. Only in this situation, instead of putting just a bit of one's Od over time to let your energy replenish to do it again, here, all the energy was shoved." Which was rather strange, all in all. With Sion pondering what could have caused any of this?
Especially since according to her readings, everyone in Beacon had no Od in them. Sure they had aura, but it seemed to be much different than mana. A substitute for it as it came from the soul as the inhabitants and books describe it as. Yet that was all they had, with nobody showing any signs of the magical energy like Dust itself had.
Except for strangely, three people.
"Think you can explain a little?" With Sion staring at one of the three. Ozpin.
Who had been sitting quietly while having kidney been served some warm hot chocolate by the Nemo Series. Taking a nice sip from it before smiling, liking the taste. He then looked toward Sion and raised a brow while holding his drink. "Do you want one?"
"Nope. Already had water." Sion politely declined. "What I really thirst for more though is knowledge. And you seem to be at the center of it."
"My. And what makes you say that?" Ozpin politely asked, though seemed to have a suspicion on what Sion may say.
"Easy." Two screens popped up showing none other than Amber, the former Fall Maiden, followed by Erice, the current Summer Maiden. "Because these two show magical readings that for some reason, match your own."
Putting the cup down, Ozpin sighed. "Well then," His gaze looked more serious. "Let's talk."
Everyone inside the room stayed quiet. All of them, sitting down and not moving much. While some had their scrolls to play games, they still felt as nervous as the men piloting the aircraft. A bit of sweat could be seen on them, and they weren't even in the same room as the civilians. But they did have monitors. Monitors that showed the different rooms and halls, cameras for security measure.
Where one camera spotted them.
Or as they are called, the Argonauts.
"Hm. This is awkward." Asclepius said as he saw some people, in the same space as them , looking a bit worried. "We really have a bad reputation among the people." And they never did anything bad here on this side of the world.
"They probably saw footage of us from Vale." Jason replied to his teammate. Recalling that the CCT still worked during those days, and likely their exploits had been passed about to other places that had news going on. "In other words, they're scared we might beat them up. Which we won't."
"Huh. Really?" That was a surprise to Castor. He had been hoping to beat someone up, especially if they tried to check on his sister. Noticing a few men looking at her, giving them a glare to get them to run. Though if they had tried anything funny, he'd have dealt with them.
"At least we don't have to worry about annoyances bugging us." Caenis then narrowed her eyes. "Though…Hey! You!" Calling out to a staff member, the flight waitress froze and turned to Caenis who grinned. "Get me something good to eat. The nice stuff to. Unless…" Caenis then shook her spear a little. She'd never actually use it to hurt someone though, not unless they pissed her off, but the waitress didn't know that. Quickly she left to get food as Caenis chuckled.
The Lancer then saw Atalanta's unimpressed look.
"What?" Caenis asked as if she did no wrong. "Free food."
"You could have just asked me." Medea (Lily) waves her staff a little. "Pancakes if you want some." Caenis grimaced.
"Uh, yeah. No." Too much sugar and way too sweet at times. Plus, Caenis wanted some meat in her.
"Awww." After getting rejected, Medea (Lily) then looked at the others. Seeing if any of them wanted her pancakes. Their whistles and the fact they averted their gazes from her is their answer. The small Caster pouted as she then sat back down on her seat. Thankfully, this aircraft was no airplane and was like a miniature cruiser, having plenty of room to walk all around.
Though the Argonauts didn't move much from their spot much, seeing as they'd rather not get people all worked up. The team ended up here after flying for three hours straight on that stuffy Bullhead before they spotted the aircraft flying ahead of them. After a unanimous vote, the eight Servants jumped off the Bullhead midair and all of them landed on the rooftop of the craft.
Except for Heracles, who ended up crashing through while alerting their presence to the onboard guards. Though after they got a good look at Heracles and the rest of the Argonauts alongside their weapons, the guards instantly stopped. They seemed much more relieved when they realized the Servants had no intention of harming anyone. Still, the guards eyed them regardless just in case.
"Hm. I wonder if they have any entertainment up here?" Looking around, Pollux wondered what the airship might have onboard. "It's a little boring just standing around and doing nothing."
"Good luck with that." Jason laughed. "I bet a commercial flight like this has nothing on it. Like regular planes."
"At the very least we can enjoy the view here." Checking out the window to see the wonderful skies and ground below, Atalanta approved. "Gives us time to relax after everything that's been happening."
"True." Asclepius nods in agreement with Heracles feeling much the same. "All this traveling around, fighting, can wear a person down like any other disease that weakens the mind and body. Best to enjoy ourselves while we have time." Coming towards the group is the same flight waitress with some food.
"Exactly." With a chuckle, Caenis grabbed some of the food. The good stuff served in first-class, now glad the Argonauts have a rather infamous reputation of being criminals because of Jason's earlier actions when he was called upon here. "Let's just do what we can before we're forced to fight." Like eating some nice steak. Caenis biting down to enjoy the taste.
"How very true." As a Captain who led a ship full of great heroes, Jason understood that daily rest is needed for traveling men to unwind and deal with any stress they may have. After all, being on a ship for weeks on end can make even the toughest hero feel disheartened. Especially with the recent events the Argonauts have been through. And soon, once they get back to Vale, they'll have to get right back to work.
Taking out his scroll, Jason found this ship will eventually reach a settlement in about three more hours. Then, depending if they could find another Bullhead or not, they could make way for Vale in about half-a-day. So for now they should take this time to refresh their minds.
"You guys do what you want." Jason then walked away from the group. "We should have some fun before we have to continue our trek."
"Great." Pollux smiled. "Then I'm going to see if I can find anything of interest." With that Pollux then began leaving herself with Castor close behind. Throwing any glares at some men who might make a move on her, which worked very well. The rest doing the same, aside from Cenis who wished to continue eating.
Medea (Lily) walked with Atalanta while Heracles left wherever he desired. As for Asclepius, he just wanted to check the medical room onboard here to see if they had what it takes. That, and maybe to help some patients while he was at it. Even if he's more likely to just help with air sickness, a scraped knee or whatever other mundane injury occurs on board.
Which just left Jason who found himself standing outside on the railways, looking at the horizon mindlessly. His thoughts lean toward nothing in particular. Just watching the sky and land, enjoying the view for a bit while ignoring the people that passed by him. Turning his head, Jason then looked at the direction where he knew she was at, miles upon miles away. Salem, with whatever cronies she had. Coming all the way back to Vale, with a full deck of cards to use against them.
"...man." Jason looked a little tired. "Things were so much simpler back then." Memories of Chaldea soon began filling Jason. As he remembered the events from before he and his team had been launched to this new world.
How at first he was an enemy of Chaldea. Having fought and faced them, only to realize he had been used by Goetia himself, who controlled Medea (Lily) back then. Making him go on a pointless quest to supposedly make him invincible, so he could then get the Holy Grail and make his wish. To make a kingdom for himself, to make up for the one he lost after his mistakes. Then, have that kingdom become a utopia for all to be treated just and well. All it would take for the first step was to sacrifice a Goddess.
Too bad Jason learned little too late that doing such a thing would kill him, destroy the Singularity, and then ruin humanity's chance at survival. Discovering from Chaldea that by sacrificing a Goddess, he'd only kill everyone, even himself, before getting turned into an abomination. Then being killed off like the no-good villain he had become in that Singularity.
Then…the Masters summoned him.
"Hehe. That was a surprise." Jason admitted to himself. Here he thought he'd never see the Masters again. But apparently, they summoned him after the whole temple of time thing with his old allies as well. Frankly, Jason was surprised at how welcoming they were to him. I mean, he had tried to kill them in the third singularity. During that time, Jason severely wondered if the Masters had just hit their heads too hard.
"Nice to meet you Jason."
"Glad to have you aboard."
…but, busted heads or not, they accepted him. Just like everyone else they summoned. It didn't matter if the Servants they called upon were vile or had tried to ruin Chaldea's goals. Every Servant summoned is given a chance in Chaldea, something that Jason enjoyed secretly. I mean, yeah, things did get crazy. The events like Christmas and Summer, not to mention minute Singularities and the hell known as grinding for materials. Yeesh. Life in Chaldea wasn't all sweet.
And now, after the whole…tantrum, admittingly, that caused him and countless Servants to be sent here in Remnant, things have gotten quite difficult. Funny, really. At first things were so chaotic, but nothing Jason and the others couldn't handle. Sure they had to run around a lot, realized they were weaker when they got beat up, not to mention became criminals while they were at it. Yet everything had been more joyful during those early days. All the way to Jason declaring he would rule Vale, and who knows, the world!
Now, things felt more difficult.
Responsibility is needed.
The very kingdom Jason somehow managed to earn is crippled and under threat.
Where the decisions made could either allow prosperity or ruin for Vale and beyond the kingdom. Had it not been for his team being here with him, Jason felt he might have snapped under all this pressure. Or at the very least, make a critical mistake that could have cost him greatly somewhere along the line. Especially with how Salem was coming, and loathed as Jason is to admit this, he had not the strength to deal with her alone.
'But I have friends and allies to help me out. Just like before.' The good times in the Argo, before Jason's fall from grace, showed Jason that having people around you always helped out in the end. Their support, advice, and ability to ensure a leader stayed on the right path kept Jason stable. While Jason did feel a bit bad that his actions had caused Heracles, Atalanta and Medea (Lily) to unintentionally come to this place with him, he never felt happier that they were by his side. Even better when more of the Argonauts came after the whole train incident.
As such, with them by his side Jason felt confident that they could help him out while also ensuring he didn't get to, ahem, control crazy. Jason cringed at how he acted in the third Singularity. Admittingly, not his best moment and time when he had been called upon. Especially how he failed to properly use his full talents against Chaldea, having been…a little too confident against them.
..okay, overconfident and arrogant with too much conceit in himself. Looking back, Jason realized he had been so successful during the Singularity early on, he let himself become too complacent with his pride, unchanging until he realized Medea (Lily) tricked him. Where the cost ended being an enemy of humanity, being slain, while also being under excruciating agony.
Guess that whole 'Pride before the fall' phrase is true after all.
And while Jason hated it, a lot, his Argonauts ensured he didn't get too prideful in certain moments during their journey here. Allowing Jason to think tactfully while, usually, getting them through the trouble they entered. And Jason wasn't going to stop now.
While there's no denying that in Chaldea, Jason held no responsibilities there other than helping the Master, that doesn't mean he's going to repudiate the duty he has here. Like it or not, Jason was willing to protect his new kingdom and his friends. So what if Salem is immortal and had a bunch of powers and an army of Grimm. He has Heracles and some of the best teammates in this world and any other. And with the Masters here, its safe to say Jason had this in the bag.
"Hahaha!" Abruptly, Jason just laughed aloud. Feeling the joy that with his friends, nothing could stop him. "That's right!" Jason shouted in-between his laughter. Pumping his hands in the air. "NOTHING!"
"..." Atalanta looked at Jason, where one minute he seemed to be calm and quiet. Looking almost like a regular person, which she could respect. Only for him to burst into laughter and shouting meaningless words. Likely thinking something stupid while his actions caused the people nearby to step away, thinking he has gone mental.
Turning her head, Atalanta says, "Pretend we don't know him?"
Near her, Heracles nodded. He and this 'stranger' laughing weren't friends.
"Thank you for flying with us. Come again another day." After such a boring flight, the Argonauts got out. People make a clear path for them both out of fear and respect for their strength. A few teens gave some thumbs up to Heracles, who apparently had been playing a game of basketball with some people on the deck. Despite his size, Heracles won the game for his team single handedly while only popping the basketball three times.
A few girls waved at Pollux who waved back to Castor's nuisance. His sister having decided she wanted some female bonding time with girls other than her teammates. Since the female Argonaut members consist of Medea (Lily) who's a bit too young and Atalanta, having no idea about girl talk. Caenis? Out of the question. Granted, she let Castor stay with her as she and the other female passengers eagerly spoke.
Castor looked as if he wished he had gone somewhere else. Didn't help when Pollux convinced him to let her and the girls…dress him up.
'Never again.' Castor growled while glaring at the girls who merely giggled at him. While each holding a bag of clothes, some of which had been used earlier.
"Be nice brother." Pollux elbowed him. "And besides…You were cute."
"Ugh!"
"And here's some remedies I made for anybody who gets airsick." Asclepius told the onboard crew members and gave them some bottles that would alleviate nausea for those who couldn't handle flying well. "That'll reduce the amount of vomiting that the janitors have to clean."
"Thank you!" The nearby janitor said. Glad someone cared for his nose. Seriously, people can be gross and there were many times the janitor wanted to quit.
In the meantime, Atalanta rolled her eyes at the Cassandra wannabe's that had tried to flirt with her. Thankfully, they all backed off when Medea (Lily) decided to play with them a little. Nothing gets a man scared when illusionary magecraft is used to make the men look like they're wearing puffy pretty dresses or pankakes hitting their faces. That was a good laugh.
"Ah. So good." Caenis just ate for the most part. No more no less.
"Well then Argonauts, I hope you had a good time of relaxation. Because now," Jason then frowned. "We need another ride."
"Ughhh." Is the collective response.
"Can't we just hijack the ship?" Caenis pointed at the very ship they rode. It was big, had some recreational stuff in it, tv, and some fine food if your first class or threatened them for it. The benefit of people knowing you're a criminal.
"No, we're not going to commandeer another ship." Jason scolded Caenis. "Besides," Jason took out his scroll and flinched when he saw an article. "I don't think our reputation can handle another blow." He then showed his friends an image of some of them online.
"The hell."
"Seriously."
"Unbelievable."
Where they had become meme's. Apparently some creep had been taking pictures of the Argonauts while they were flying. Making weird phrases under their picture. Like Heracles, where one image showed him popping a ball with the tagline being, 'What's the missing link between ape and man? This guy.'
Another had Caenis shoving some food in her mouth with the tagline, 'Who says a woman can't eat.'
Not to mention Castor where he has make-up on him. The tagline being-
Crack.
"Ah! Dude!" Before Jason could even show his team the tagline, Castor had grabbed his phone and broke it. The little jerk.
As for Castor himself, he fumed and cracked his knuckles. "If I find this bastard, I'll kill him." No joke.
Anyway, the point is Jason didn't want news getting out that the Argonauts stole public transportation. It'd be bad for their image and for him especially. Last thing he needed was for his citizens to see he's become some common thief. "Let's just see if we can get a, I dunno, Bullhead cab or something."
Reluctantly, the Argonauts obeyed as they then began walking to the town they landed. Ready to see if they could find any means of transportation to get to Vale quickly. Sure Salem might be taking her sweet time on her pet whale, but best not to give her the opportunity to catch up. Still, their chances of finding a ride felt pretty low.
"Hello." So it came to a surprise when Jason and the others saw none other than Astolfo waving hi at them.
"Hu-what?" Jason just went.
"Well this is surprising." Asclepius mutters to himself, having not expected this at all.
"Hey Rider." Medea (Lily) was just glad to see a friend. "What are you doing here?"
"To see you silly." With a click in his feet, the rather feminine boy who got the glances of a few teenage boys hopped up to Medea (Lily). Clasping her hands in his. "The general told me to bring you guys back to Vale as fast as possible. Ozpin too."
"Hold up." With a bit of suspicion, Atalanta narrowed her eyes. "How did you know we were here? Let aside us needing a ride?" The fact Astolfo is here just when the Argonauts needed a ride home felt too coincidental. Thankfully, Astolfo had just the answer.
"News has been spreading a bit." Giving a sad smile, Astolfo continued on saying, "I don't know why, and it probably isn't a coincidence, but for some reason the events from Mistral are spreading all over the internet. Despite the fact that communications there had been slow." Unknown to all, the slow connection and outright inability to communicate with Mistral had all been Salem's plans. Before she left Watts and killed Leo, she had the two of them work together to temporarily shut down any long-ranged communication within the CCT a bit after arriving in Mistral.
But now that Salem is heading towards Vale, she decided to squeeze the people's hopes by re-allowing the CCT in Mistral to resume long-range communications once more. Thus making it so that everyone in Mistral can 'helpfully' send the horrors and disasters they've seen. How they barely survived, who they lost, what they lost and the despair they felt. Grimm activity would rise once again because of this.
"Oh. That's a problem." Jason winced.
"Man that bitch knows how to create fear." Scratching the back of her head, Caenis growled.
"Pretty much." Astolfo agreed. "As such, it was decided action had to be taken. General Ironwood decided to have Sieg and I pick you guys up." Alright, so it made sense on why Astolfo is here.
"But how did you find us?" Atalanta repeated herself.
"Easy. Some scientists managed to find a way to track Servants." Doctor Pietro and Sion worked very hard on it from what Astolfo heard. Made to track unique exotic energies, which Servants gave off in spades. In response to the massive energy felt a while back, which Astolfo guessed came from the Masters who just arrived here. Thank goodness Astolfo had Blackbeard's number who contacted him about the Masters being in Vale.
"Anyway, once Pietro and Sion-"
"Wait, Sion?" Wasn't that one of Chaldea's allies, as far as Asclepius knew?
"-did their magic, or, science in this case," Astolfo continued on like he hadn't been interrupted, us Winter-Ops were deployed. Er, two of us anyway. Some kind of rebellion or whatever is happening in Mantle."
"Huh. Alright then." While the situation is strange, Jason can accept all of this. "So then I guess we should…hold up a second." Narrowing his eyes, now Jason found something suspicious. Folding his arms and leaning forward, Jason asked, "Just when did you leave to get us?"
In the end, Jason can understand Astolfo finding them thanks to whatever new tech Atlas made. But the fact he was here before them felt very off.
"Ah, that." Not even realizing, or ignoring, the suspicious look Astolfo's receiving, the young Paladin just said, "Once we pinpointed your location as best we could, Sieg and I just flew all the way here." Astolfo then turned around and pointed at none other than Sieg, whose currency eating some ice cream at a nearby shop.
"Wait? You left Atlas and got here…in a few hours?" If Atalanta remembered right…Atlas was a continent away, wasn't it?
"Uh-hu." Not seeing the problem, Astolfo just affirmed Atalanta's words.
"But how?" Even Castor and Pollux were surprised by such speeds. Servants may be fast, with Sieg especially in his dragon form, but making their way here felt so…far-fetched.
"Yep." With Astolfo, not even seeing the problem, continuing to nod like a bobblehead where Sieg, who's still eating his frozen treat, just shrugged. Not answering the question either.
"...Alright then. Whatever." Frankly, Jason really wanted to know how these two managed to get here like they teleported, but decided against it. Getting the feeling of just trying to learn would be too difficult and best to just ignore it entirely. Some shows and movies were like that actually. Where the main characters, just when they needed help, conveniently got it even though sometimes it made no sense. Welp, best not to overlook or rationalize this convenience. The Argonauts following Astolfo as they got ready to head back towards Vale.
This chapter, we got a bit of Jason's thoughts since arriving to Remnant. Where its made clear he does feel stress from knowing that he holds responsibility, since in Chaldea usually the Masters are the ones who hold that concept. But here, he has to be responsible since he caused all this. But as he said before, Jason has friends to ensure he stays on the right path.
Also, it seems Sion will be asking Ozpin some very interesting questions while the rest of Chaldea watch a film. I did say Ozpin's secrets won't be kept forever, though his section won't come out in the next chapter but in an Anthology Chapter. And we got Asolfo and Sieg to help out and arrived...somehow. Let's hand-wave that, cause I'm to lazy to explain. Anyway, Until Next Time.
