Charles watched young David play the piano with tears in his eyes. Nothing could ever erase the feeling that had come over him when David confessed to being a concert pianist and had lost some of the use of his right hand. It was like a knife stabbed in his heart. But after giving the boy a book of music for left handed players, Charles realized that David's gift was still there, stronger than ever. While the others sat in the Officer's Club merely enjoying the piano playing, Charles considered David's music a masterpiece.
