What if... the participants has to kill each other? That's something that hasn't brought up before in the tournament so far.
"I wouldn't let it happen." David responded.
Miss President seemed to cast down on David. Something's chilling the fear out of the blue. All while the three walked down to a portal...
"Oof!" David crashed into an invisible wall.
"What're you doing?" Miss President looked.
"There's an invisible wall." David noticed. "I don't think I can go through here."
"An invisible wall?" Miss President realized. "Ohh... that musta been why you broke out the mime act every now and then."
"Well, if I can pass through, it must only be blockin' the tournament fighters." Miss President concluded. "This world sure is out there." *walks through the invisible wall*
Another portal behind David and Jumpson, and Jumpson lost so he's blocked. David said goodbye and went through the portal.
Then, after entering the portal, he couldn't go back because it's now blocked. There's walls around him as well, leaving an pretty large area for the oncoming fight.
"This was the Tilted Ruins." David noticed the surroundings. "I said 'was', because it was scavenged days ago. Now it's replaced by..."
"Warriors' Battlefield." The voices of the Shadows Selves from his dream echoed themselves together.
"And I'm trapped." David realized something. "Be careful, this probably means..."
A flying monitor appeared, with General Teddie shown in the screen. This meant David's third round in the P-1 Grand Prix: Cross Edition is about to begin.
giggles* "Is your Jump pal and that snout okay, cyberpunk?" General Teddie appeared. "Geez, you're such a klutz."
"You're still using that form? It's getting rusty." David responded. "Why don't you just show your true self?"
"Dude, you've gotten peevish!" General Teddie is confused. "I don't have any idea what you're talking about."
"Ok... so who's my next opponent?" David asked.
"Ooooh, now you're getting into the spirit of things!" General Teddie is excited. "Let me guess, you're starting to enjoy beating up your allies?"
giggles* "Okay!" General Teddie proceeded. "Would the next challenger come on down!"
General Teddie didn't pick up David's intent, but yelled out what appears to be his pre-battle catchphrase. Smoke pours out.
And who should appear from the smoke... but he expected her: Four of them entered the TV together, but now, David have already fight Angela and Jumpson... then... *smokes clears out*
"That's what I thought..." David knew it. "You're the last of us, after all."
giggles* "Yeah..." System No. XX saw David. "I had a feeling you'd be next too."
Then both laughed. For the moment, there seems to be nothing wrong with System No. XX (who goes by civilian Kansatsubi Kousako) and her words and actions... but David secretly kept an eye on her, similar to what happened to Jumpson.
"Miss System..."/"システムさん..." David calmed and asked. "You know what they're doing, right?"
"Yeah, I know." System No. XX confirmed. "The stuff we say gets twisted around so we end up fighting each other, right?"
"Don't worry." System No. XX continued. "You're a son of a bitch who supported the same party who busted me to complete my tournament and get back to their home, but you're still our great ally!"
"I mean, you have it granted." System No. XX seems off? "You're just fighting the wrong persons."
"I had to keep hopping and breaking in and killing over and over... all because of you outsiders!" System No. XX is aggravated.
David quickly realized that System No. XX is clearly not herself. The words, in fact, is so blatant and so out of character, David doesn't feel offended. Not to mention, "you outsiders"? As good as confessing that you're not from that world; and also strangely ironic because System No. XX is a machine designed to observe across dimensions, especially also hosted the Cross Tag tournament involving participants from another worlds, just like P-1 Grand Prix now...
Oh right... 'The Invader of Next Possibilities'... By the way, Miss President is looking at both, dumbfounded.
"More stuff about invading and killing, huh?" David suspected further. "Miss President was talking about it earlier, too. This must be..."
"It hurts... It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts..." System No. XX suddenly mumbled about her destruction at the hand of the leading participants back then (from a certain timeline). "I'll give you a taste of crossing pain they all put me through!"
David suspected even further, feeling that it's the Shadow that's intentionally making his allies fight and kill each other... all because of people from different worlds?
"Let's do this, Miss System!" David is ready to fight.
"Well, well, cyberpunk's third round at the P-1 Grand Prix already!" Tempti appeared in the screen of the flying monitor. "Word on the dimensions is that the invader may have a considerable advantage!"
"Will David Martinez, the legendary cyberpsycho, manage to eke out a win this time!?" Tempti commented. "Let's get this show on the road! Ready...!"
System No. XX furiously copied every single moves and tricks from the participants of Keystone Scramble on top of her built-in arsenal, so David responded by keeping out through the use of Sandevistan. This isn't very effective, as System is strong and fast enough, she actually managed to counter much of David's approach, leading to him receiving considerable damages kept in check by the enhancements.
David isn't slouchy here: he suddenly managed to interrupt System's barrage.
"Just found the most efficient way to do it!" David managed to intercept a certain combination, and shot System in her face.
Each counter doesn't last long, because System is pretty quick and resilient at this. David used the mixture of both techniques he used so far in this fight at that point, to keep in check. Not long after, System charged.
"Bruh... I can only beat her up for a bit before she unleash such area-buster!" David noticed.
So he beat up her for a short while with her charging, and once she erupted red lasers throughout the whole area, he left and blocked.
"Found when you will do that trick." David stood up. "Bring it on!"
As David knew, System didn't really repeat any of the same combinations from before, so he kept doing the same tactics as well. Then...
"Crossing is..." David decided to Sandevistan-boosted uppercut.
"Damn it!" System spawned clones of fighters from their respective weapons and projectiles that she summoned.
"What!?" David looked around.
The clones bombarded with a lot of fighting, and David barely dodged them all. He then grabbed System.
"Got ya!" David caught on...
...but then realized that System is charging for the same lasers again, he thrown her and blocked the lasers.
coughs blood* "Good play, mistress!" David then run towards System No. XX.
System No. XX summoned Aramasa, Izanagi, Indulgence of Insulating and Crescent Rose. She swung Crescent Rose and crashed it turning it into petals rose, and then dual-held Aramasa, turned to scythe (ready to Black Onslaught!), and the Insulator, violently filled with darkness-tainted EXS energy at once, while Izanagi is catching on David with Zio-powered strike. Even more: the petals immediately get activated as a result!
"Die!" System caught up with David's Sandevistan, and have her and Izanagi to bust him out.
But David reflexively managed to boost-jump out of the way and behind her, avoiding the killing move. David opened the cannon in his cyberarm, and...
"Some useful upgrades goes a long way between survival and flatlining." David then blasted System No. XX
"K.O.!"
System No. XX collapsed and knocked from the strain and the blast combined. All the weapons summoned by her immediately disappeared. David deactivated Sandevistan, stood up and headed the victory... and coughing blood again.
"Urgh... Gh...!" System No. XX human body jerked.
"I win..." David deactivated his main cyber implants for the time being, and took the breath. "I hope I don't damage her too much. I must be good at not having too seriously wound people in a fight."
"Psssh, wipe that smug look off your face!" General Teddie is disappointed. "This isn't fun at all!"
Having seen that the fight ended without any truly alarming damage at all (David can heal, actually, while System is just overloaded and stiffed), he spits his words through the flying monitor. Then the image on the monitor disappeared without anything further. The monitor flew away.
"So far, I never have dangerously busted them yet." David is relieved. "All that's left is towards the Announcement Zone, make sure that Nanako's safe, save everyone, and we'll be able to continue saving the reality."
grieving as hurt* "That cyberpunk got me..." System No. XX has lost the fight.
David walked over to System and helped her off the ground. Having come back to sense, System No. XX is still fuzzy and seems a little sheepish.
"I just survived what you were going to do to kill me..." David told System No. XX. "Are you alright?"
giggles* "I think so." System No. XX assured. "I can heal myself nowadays, thanks to the powers that I ended up gaining upon my awakening."
"Wow, you're so high-performing, cyberpunk..." System No. XX is surprised. "I'm kinda shocked at how much of a difference there is between us, as well as how much you've improved after your revival."
"Look who's talking. I've never been kicked around so badly since I got busted by Adam Smasher!" David responded. "Despite my magical and optimized enhancements, and as expected from the observation machine girl that can invade and combine."
Then David told System everything that happened from the start of P-1 Grand Prix: Cross Edition all the way that's happened to him up to this point.
"So the others are safe, too?" System No. XX is relieved. "Phew, what a relief! I was pretty worried, despite my invasive thoughts..." *sits down on the floor and repairs her outfit*
David couldn't help but smile at that reaction. Despite the Keystone Scramble Tournaments, and thanks to her times at the end of her original tenure as well as her helping the alliance, she really care about her peoples. Just the those people David now believe in.
"You guys really are right, aren't you?" Miss President perplexed. "Makes me and Continuum jealous."
"Well... we sympathized with each other because of the destruction of the Zero Point, and thus we settled our differences and joined forces." System No. XX explained. "Sure, I was surprised to hear such weird stuff coming from this cyberpunk, but I know he'd never really say such things to the allies."
"Wait... I never seen you in my existence." System No. XX realized. "Who're you?"
David introduced Miss President, and told System No. XX that she may be a victim of this case.
"Huh? The student council president?" System No. XX is confused. "You mean from the Yaso-Inaba?"
"No, no, it doesn't seem right." System No. XX reluctantly refuted. "I remember Labrys might be that president, or even a high-school boy from that same school..."
"What're you saying? I'm the student council president." Miss President argued. "Who else would I be?"
"Hmmm... pretty sure you can't be from the Persona users' world, though..." System No. XX suspected. "Maybe if you told us your name, we'd know?"
"My name...?" Miss President stopped moving.
What's going on? Can't she tell them her name? For some reason, Miss President seems unable to answer. David and System both sensed some kind of incoherent melancholy from her, and then shared a tense glance
"I... my name's..." Miss President is actually shocked.
"What's wrong?" David asked.
"My... memories...!" Miss President remembered something. "No, I don't want to fight anymore... Why do we have to kill one another!?"
This totally shocked David and System. Miss President is definitely not acting normally.
"Aaaaaagh!" Miss President screamed.
"Ooof!" System No. XX knocked off.
"Tsk!" David knocked off.
Without warning, Miss President began to flail off her arms. System No. XX reached out and touches her in concern, but Miss President's arm catches the System and easily knocks her aside.
"Miss System!" David shouted.
What power...! David barely managed to catch the mechanical mistress, System, before she slammed into the nearby rubbles. Still, this sudden breakdown...
"What happened to you...?" David is shocked to see Miss President like that.
David helped System back to her feet, and both then carefully approached her from both sides. And Miss President flew through the air.
"What!?" David is shocked at the jumping.
"No way!" System No. XX is shocked.
This is even higher leap than even David's own. She was at a standstill, but now her entire body - even her feet - is suddenly up even higher than even David's or System's human head if he boost-jumped or she floated. Her jumping ability is absolutely ridiculous!
Then Miss President kicked off for momentums to change direction, and landed at a full run.
"Wow! Who's this human girl!?" System No. XX is surprised. "Did I say something to offend her? She did mention something about her memories."
"Come to think of it, her memories did seem a little muddled." David guessed. "Maybe she was on the verge of getting them back..."
"What kind of memory would make her go crazy and run away like that so easily?" System No. XX questioned about Miss President.
"Well, I'll wait here for now." System No. XX settled for now. "Make sure you rescue her."
This proves System No. XX has come to care about her people and still worrying about others, just like good friends would. "Let me worry about that!"
David agreed and then began running after Miss President once more. To save her and help save the reality.
