And with that, we would have finished the DLC Arc. But that doesn't mean that all the DLC characters won't appear again. No, they will appear again, don't worry.
I gladly accept most of the ideas sent to me.
Only the thing with the picnic is still uncertain to me because I watched the Cuphead Show adaptation with Red Rose and there is already a picnic episode. So I will put this one on the maybe pile.
How exactly I will start my adaptation you will see then. Also how and when I will insert Blood is not yet clear. Because the Cuphead Show adaptation will rather put the main roles on Alicia and Cuppy, therefore the official episodes will be rewritten.
But I can already say that I will insert Bowlboy but I won't give a big role like in Another Brother. More like in Handle with Care. Who would get the voice of Ventus would still be our nameless fox character at the moment.
Until then
It became quiet in the room as Cuphead approached Alicia and the devil. You could see her nervous face and knew that she hoped whatever Cuphead wanted to talk to her was nothing bad. He himself took a deep breath before saying anything "Does King's Leap mean anything to you?" he asked her. Alicia just nodded. She knew what it was and already suspected that he would want to talk to her about it. "Well, the king spoke to us after he saw how well we fought..." he swayed back and forth with his legs while Mugman stood in front of Mortimer who tried to calm him down. Chalice lay on Saltbaker's shoulder and he stroked her gently as she trembled a little. Skye noticed that it was exhausting for the three of them.
Cuphead calmed down again and continued to speak "...well he was also very excited about your skills and that's why he decided to enter all four of us in his tournament" when she heard that Alicia's eyes went pale. You want me to fight? She couldn't fight properly. At least not when she was cornered or insulted as a weakling. But that didn't change the fact that she should participate in the tournament. She was also reluctant to use her demon powers. She didn't want to hurt anyone or get into a rage like she did when she fought Glumstone. "Did you say the four of us and not the three of you?" she asked in a shaky voice as Cuphead shook his head.
Great. So she couldn't just escape because the castle was hovering in the air and circling the island. Skye realized that she had several thoughts going through her head and consulted with Mortimer and Saltbaker. Both of them pushed the two cups away so that they wouldn't hear what the three of them were discussing. All three nodded and agreed with whatever they were discussing. They walked out of the restaurant, leaving the others behind. "And when is the tournament?" she asked. "Actually, they are waiting for us" said Mugman nervously. It's nice that I'm just finding out about this now. She shivered even more and hid behind the devil.
She didn't want to go but the tail that wrapped around her and tugged forward said otherwise. "Do I really have to fight?" she asked. "Unfortunately, we couldn't stop him from not letting you enter the tournament," Cuphead said as he scratched the back of his head. "He wanted you for the last fighter" said Mugman. Of course he does. She rolled her eyes. "I know you didn't fight in any of the battles, but you have powers stronger than the three of us here combined," Chalice said as she put her arms on the two brothers' shoulders and all three grinned at her. Well with the brothers it was more of a nervous forced grin.
But Chalice was right she was stronger than the three cups. She could transform, use telepathy, control time, use magic and much more. Also, her trident served as a weapon with which she could also fire lightning. But as she found out, they were not supposed to use weapons but only to parry. She rolled her eyes again when she heard that. "We'd better not keep him waiting any longer," Mugman said as he held the door open for the others, waiting only for Alicia and the devil still standing behind her.
She walked through the door with the devil behind her back and saw Cuphead and Ms. Chalice next to a rope ladder dropped from the flying castle. Cuphead climbed up first followed by Alicia and Mugman. The devil and Chalice used another way to get up and waited for the three. Cuphead was the first to arrive at the top while Alicia and Mugman followed him and were greeted by the King of Games. "Hail, ye cups and Woman from another World!" He bows to them. The others followed suit and bowed to him.
"I bid thee welcome to my floating palace" With these words, he stuck his scepter in a hole in the floor and turned it to the right, opening the door to the first fighter. His scepter was golden with a crown-like design at the top. The entrance strongly resembled the main entrance only there was a white chess piece above the entrance. It was the pawn. And it looks like Cuphead should fight against it first. Or that's what the sign with his face on it said. He swallowed and went through the gate while the others disappeared through another door that was next to the entrance and leads them to a tribune from where they could watch the fight.
They looked at a room that resembled a library. A checkerboard carpet lay next to Cuphead on the floor next to a table on which was a shelf for a scroll and a book that was already open. On the walls were several shelves with books that were all very old and had not been used for a long time. Or they don't clean here too often. Besides swords, shields and a stuffed moose head, there were stained glass windows on the right side of the room from which the sunlight shone in. Candles that were either on one of the shelves or attached to brackets in the wall also served as a source of light and illuminated the room. On the wooden beam above Cuphead hung a green banner with a golden border on which was a farmer.
Cuphead looked around the room but found none of the fighters and was confused at first. "So how does this work now?" asked Alicia as she looked at the king sitting alone on his throne. His queen was not with them, which confused Alicia. Bored, he rocked back and forth until Cuphead heard laughter above him followed by booing. He looked up and saw eight pawns standing on the beam, four of them swinging back and forth while the others just booed at him. Each pawn have a round and pink head, a round nose and a wide mouth. They have a body shape similar to a chess pawn piece, with round bottoms and noodle-y blue limbs.
Their armor sports a golden protector which goes around the waist. It is red on the plate with a golden diamond pattern around it. Each pawn also wears yellow shoes on their feet. "One by one by one, your chance at victory is done!" they all said to mock Cuphead, but he lifted his shorts up in annoyance "I'll be done with you in less than 20 seconds!" he said confidently as the first pawn jumped down and ran at him. But Cuphead jumped and parried the head of the pawn. His headless body ran through the door from which Cuphead came and was back on top of the wooden beam with the others.
The fight did not really change. Cuphead parried the pink heads and dodged the headless bodies until the last one lost his bodies start to shake and spasm and fall as their spirits are realeased and ascend like angels. Cuphead bows as the others in the stands clap for him. But just as he was about to go further, the King appeared in front of him and asked him to take a seat in the stands while Mugman came up next to challenge the next fighter.
He walked through the door Cuphead came out of and the battlefield changed. It was no longer a library but a kind of room with a large fireplace in front of which two lion statues stood on their hind legs and roared at each other. Above the fireplace hung a blue banner with a golden border and a knight on it. The walls and the curtains were red while the columns and the ceiling were white. The floor consisted of black and white marble slabs that resembled a chess pattern. The room was not as bright as the last one despite the window panes and the fireplace.
The knight stood on a red carpet with a golden border and waited for Mugman to come out of the left aisle. He was a bit nervous when he saw the knight and wanted to turn back but the door behind him was closed. The Knight is a grey anthropomorphic horse with a body shape similar to his namesake chess piece, with a round bottom and lanky arms and legs. He dons a golden knight helmet with his ears sticking out, a pink plume of his hair, and neck protection. His tunic is mostly red with gold diamonds at the bottom, with a gold seam around his hips. His armor has some round plating on the elbows and knees. He wields a short sword with a round golden guard in his left hand and a wooden shield in his right arm.
Nervous and trembling, he walked up to the challenger who raised his visor to get a better look at Mugman while smiling. "This won't take long!" he said, and covers his eyes with the visor before slamming his sword on his shield two times. Mugman, in turn, grabbed his straw and nervously drank from it which pleased the knight even more. The Knight raised his sword above his head and has his shield in front of him.
He moves forward and backward several times which irritates Mugman until the Knight lets his guard down, and thrusts his sword upwards at Mugman. But the latter was able to avoid this attack and parried the plume on the knight's head. The latter growled and changed his attack. The Knight holds his sword up sideways, then dashes across the field. The sword almost caught Mugman, but he was able to dodge it. But by attacking, the knight was out of breath. Mugman took advantage and parried the plume four times in a row before the knight got up again.
Even more annoyed, the knight changed his attack again. The Knight ducks down and puts his visor up to look and smile at Mugman, then lets out a neigh as he swings his sword in an upwards arc. As with the attack before, he was again out of breath and Mugman parried him again several times until he flung him away. "Enough!" he yelled. The Knight stands up straight and beckons Mugman with his shield arm to come closer to him. Mugman wasn't sure and walked closer to him until he dodged the sword coming at him.
He jumped away again and landed unintentionally behind the Knight which startled him. So much so that he swung his sword back up and was out of breath again. But Mugman dodged each of his attacks and the knight was defeated. His helmet, sword, and shield flies away while he spins around and bucks like an actual horse that breaks into panic. His hands are somehow morphed into feet and his shoes disappear. Mugman walked away a bit so he wouldn't get hit by the hoof. But the Knight would not admit defeat and turned to him with angry eyes and smoking nose. Like a bull in a bullfight, he ran at him, but Alicia was able to stop him and instead of Mugman, the knight ran out of the window and flew downstairs to Esther's saloon where he landed on a bar stool while Jack turned to face him.
"Here, this one's on the house!" said Jack, handing him a glass of coffee. The knight took it and gulped it down in one go. The second challenger was defeated and Chalice was allowed to face the next one. So Mugman took a bite of the cookie and he and Chalice swapped places before she walked out the door and the bleachers turned again to a new battlefield. It was a kind of cathedral with columns at the top of which were lions holding the ceiling. A marble table on which ten floating candles were illuminated the room somewhat since no sunlight came from the stained glass windows. On it was a bishop with angel wings wrapped with a red ribbon. The floor was covered with a chess pattern as in the room with the knight.
Chalice looked around until she heard someone shaking their teeth. She turned around and saw the bishop behind the marble table. He has the overall appearance of a priest as he wears as red robe with yellow diamonds. He holds a studded staff on his right hand. It has gems on the cardinal direction, four circles in its head forming a clover shape, and gem in the middle. His headwear makes his resemble a bishop chess piece, with a long nose and high cheek bones.
He raises his arms to send the candles into battle and his three heads appear near his head before it flies into battle. A few candles were burning while the others were out. Chalice turned the others off while the bishop's head flies diagonally and he spits out little bells from his head that chase Chalice. His body in the background starts dancing and swinging back and forth which confuses the others. But Alicia was more than nervous, because after him she had to challenge the next fighter. But she could not run away. Even if she wanted to. "Hey, sweetheart, are you okay?" the devil asked as he sat behind her and gently stroked her cheek with his fingers to soothe her. Cuphead noticed that she wasn't feeling well and that she was nervous.
Could she even parry like the two brothers and Chalice? She didn't know and was nervous about it. Unless the king had other plans for her. She didn't want to think about it and yet the fight against the Bishop was over. His head is injured, their eyes spin around, and their hats turn into organ pipes and their teeth turn into piano keys. The body in the background raises his broken staff in the air while his left hand is on his chest as if he was suffering from a heart attack.
Chalice and Mugman switched again and she was a ghost again while Mugman had his body back. He looked at the door and saw Alicia's face glued to a picture in front of him. "Um why does our best friend have to fight next?" he asked the king. The latter looked toward the young mug. "Because the next challenger had asked for her". Oh great another secret lover who wants me thought Alicia as she rolled her eyes. She stood up unintentionally, went down the stairs and through the door that led her outside where she saw the bishop's entrance. It was different from the Pawn's in that above the entrance was a large chess piece of the Bishop with a clover on which was the Roman numeral III.
It turned again and the entrance to the Rook was visible. Above its entrance was its chess piece with two flags hanging with red and yellow chess patterns on the side next to the entrance. The Roman numeral IV was above the entrance. She swallowed before stepping through the gate and facing the rook who had explicitly chosen her. For whatever reason. She found herself in a dungeon again with prison cells and various torture instruments that were used in the Middle Ages. The floor was again shown in the chess pattern which did not surprise her. Just as little as the giggling she heard.
"Please don't tell me the executioner has a crush on me" she said as she followed the laughter and saw the executioner daydreaming. The Rook looks like a medieval executioner with his overall design giving him an intimidating appearance, a stereotype of executioner. Over his blue face, the Rook wears an executioner mask that, on top, dons a pointed tip which folds slightly at its end. It has an opening around his snout, allowing his small round red nose to be visible. His mask morphs around his large eyes to function as his eyebrows.
Around his neck he wears a grey, brick-like accessory which resembles the top of a rook piece. It's raised high enough to cover most of the bottom half of his face, hiding his mouth. Underneath the neck accessory, the bottom of the mask can be seen, which ends in a gear pattern. He wears a red tunic with large yellow color as the diamonds. His arms and legs are blue. He sits in a chair that resembles his neck accessory. A grindstone is in front of him which the Rook uses to sharpen his large axe.
On this he leaned slightly while he continued daydreaming and did not notice that Alicia was standing right in front of him, daydreaming about how she kissed him on the cheek. The top of his mask popped open as hearts replaced his pupils. Alicia was somewhat disgusted by this, both brothers shaking their heads before sticking out their tongues in disgust which Chalice responded to with a face palm. Only the devil was not pleased that the rook was interested in his queen and wife while watching him fight her. The King of Games felt how angry he was and tried to calm him down. "Don't worry, he won't harm a hair on her head." "He better make sure he doesn't do more than that or he'll feel my wrath!" the devil said in a growling voice as the rook saw Alicia and his dream bubble burst.
"Ah there you are my little morning star" he said as he slowly ran his right index finger over the cutting edge of the axe. "Um yeah thanks for the praise and all but I'm already taken and happily married" she said which didn't really bother the rook. "Ever thought of shipping to other shores?" he asked her with raised eyebrows. Alicia knew what he meant and was not particularly excited about it. She remained loyal to the devil no matter what. "Sorry but I stick to what I have and don't like to sail into foreign waters!" annoyed she shows him her back.
The Rook was more than startled by this and a tear ran down his face while his lips twitched and he was generally on the verge of crying until he shook his head and picked up his axe. "Fine if I can't have you as my lover..." Alicia saw the shadow and turned around and now saw how tall the Rook was. It was either the room or something else. She was just as big as his leg. The axe seemed to be strong enough to chop her into several pieces. "Then I will make you my trophy!". Startled, Alicia slowly backed up until she looked to her left, where she saw several heads on the walls that the Rook had already collected.
One seat seemed to be reserved for Alicia. She swallowed and noticed that she was slowly approaching the wall while the rook was raising his axe. Alicia now stood with her back to the wall while the Rook lunged with his axe and tried to hit her. But suddenly the Rook felt warmth that quickly turned into heat. Despite his gloves, he felt pain and dropped the axe. "AHHHH that burns!" he said as he took off his right glove and sucked on his index finger to cool it. Everyone sitting in the stands was confused until they saw something brightly shining that appeared in front of the Rook. The rook saw it too and was startled. It was a burning black phoenix, the same size as the Rook, approaching him with flaming feathers.
She spread her wings and several feathers that morphed into arrows flew towards the Rook who was able to fend them off with his axe. "Hey no weapons allowed!" he said and went to his grindstone with which he grinds his axe. "Okay well no weapons then!" said Alicia still in her phoenix form which was still burning a bit. Besides sparks, skulls and two pink heads flew out of his axe. Wait are those? Yep, she wasn't mistaken. It was King Louis XVI and Queen Maria Antoinette flying out of his axe and asking for her help.
"Hey hit us and we can put a stop to the Rook!" said King Louis as he approached Alicia. She did as he asked and hit him with her left wing, sending him flying towards the executioner with a wicked smile and hitting him. She did the same with Maria Antoinette. It's that easy? she wondered as more heads came and sparks flew from the grindstone that she managed to dodge. The fight didn't really change, it focused more on grinding, which made the heads fly higher, but Alicia was still able to catch them and the grindstone broke. His clothes become tattered. His head falls into his lap as he clutches it in exhaustion, his eyes bearing crosses for pupils.
He was defeated and all the king's fighters were defeated. Delighted, she went back to the tribune where she was joyfully cheered by the others. The devil took her in his arms and did not let her go. She knew why when he rubbed his nose against hers. "Oh my dearest Alicia, thank you for your words and thank you for being faithful to me forever" she snuggled into him and wanted to go back to his bedroom. But the stand turns again and shows another battlefield. It was the throne room. Or at least that's what the single throne that stood on a pile of money said. Somehow I have to think of Uncle Scrooge's money bin. Only the complete room was not filled with money, diamonds and other riches so that one could swim in it.
Some walls were already torn and from the chandelier hung a pearl necklace with a blue diamond at the end. A red banner with a golden border hung on the other side of the room with the queen's chess piece on it in white like all the others. The queen ignored the others at first and sat at a table on which stood a calculator and a small pile of money she had added up. Money bags with dollar signs on them stood next to the table. She looked briefly at the stand and then at the table until she shook her head and realized what was going on. "What so fast the four contestants could beat our champions?!" she said perplexed as she flipped the table away along with the machine and the coins.
The group was proud of it with only Alicia having a bad feeling. After all, she still had to write the last fight in the writing pad. "Well, if that's the case, I'll choose two to fight me!" she said, standing in front of them with her scepter in her hand. The scepter was also golden with blue and pink jewels on the top. She points to Cuphead and Mugman who immediately went downstairs and found themselves in a wall where mice dressed in Robin Hood-like clothing operated cannons that went from right to left.
The fuse of a cannon started to glow pink. Cuphead took the chance and parried it while the cannon pointed at the queen and hit her. "Yes hit!" said Cuphead until he suddenly heard lion roar and saw the incoming pink lion statues coming towards them. But Mugman parried them while Cuphead parried the next cannon, which didn't hit the queen, which annoyed the brother. "Too little, too late!" she taunted the older brother before Mugman hit her with another cannon followed by another from Cuphead.
Enraged, she made more lion statues appear, but they were parried by both brothers. But the queen did not give up and took out two delicate egg-shaped containers from which fell several gems that almost caught both brothers. If Mugman had not parried the last cannon and defeated the queen. Or rather checkmated? The Queen collapses as she summons a fainting couch to cushion her fall. Her head drops down from her body and spins in a circle on the tip of her scepter while the mice rejoice in victory and high-five Cuphead and Mugman.
They had thus defeated all the champions and had nothing more to do on the island. But when they came out of the castle it was already night and the group decided to stay on the island for now and leave the next day. The next day, everyone headed to the jetty where the boatman was waiting for them. But not only he was there but also Saltbaker, Skye and Mortimer. "What are you doing here?" asked Cuphead, confused, as he was the first to arrive at the dock. "Well what do you think? To say goodbye to you!" said Skye. Alicia was very pleased about that but there were still some missing. Esther, Glumstone, the other Members of the Howling Aces, and the Moonshine Mob were missing. Maybe they didn't have time to come? Alicia thought no more about it and said goodbye to those who were here.
Saltbaker gently shook her hand while Mortimer flew up to hug her since he was slightly shorter than her. Skye also hugged her and saluted her. Alicia did the same. After everyone said goodbye, Alicia noticed that she was suddenly grabbed by something and was now sitting on something. It was the devil in his dragon form who flew up with her while the boatman sailed away with the three cups. Riding a dragon was something new for her. Thanks to his fur, she could hold on to it so as not to fall down or anything else. The ground or rather the island and the sea were now far away from them. But she did not want to fall down and land in the sea.
"Don't worry, my love, I won't let you fall!" said the devil and flew on. The Inkwell Isle's were already visible. Or at least the mountains that went around the third and second island. She saw nothing more of Cuphead and the others. They were like a dot disappearing on the horizon. While the devil was landing, Alicia had to think again about the words Skye had told her when she hugged her. "I'll see you soon, Commander," what did she mean? In front of the entrance of the casino he lowered her and together they went into the cave that led them to Inkwell Hell. "I have a little surprise for you" said the devil as he disappeared with her and appeared in front of the bed. Fawkes was still sleeping in the fire bowl and hadn't noticed that Alicia was back.
In the middle of the bed, surrounded by black rose petals, lay a letter addressed to Alicia. She took it while sitting down on the bed. The devil sat behind her and gently stroked her fur and cheeks while pulling her closer. Alicia opened the letter, which contained an invitation from Sally and Bon Bon and a picture of Alicia and the devil. It moved like the photos from the Harry Potter movies. They both grinned and kissed while the devil wrapped himself around her in his dragon form and placed his head on hers. A writing appeared on which the devil thanked her for her loyalty and that he would like to have her with him forever. "Aww thanks honey!" she said and stroked his cheek causing him to start purring like a cat again. "For you always my love" he said and took the envelope with the content from her hand while he put her on his chest with his other hand.
She was glad to be with him again, and he seems to be. He had her with him again and could fall asleep again without problems. The Imps who kept watch on the balcony were happy that their queen is back. Cuphead and Mugman arrived at the first island and immediately went back to their house. But the latter still turned around when he saw Chalice. "Chalice where are you going to go now?" he asked her. She shrugged her shoulders. "Since all the mausoleums are destroyed, I guess I'll have to sleep somewhere else," she said, and was about to disappear into the portal to the astral plane before Cuphead stopped her. "Wait, you can sleep with us until you find a place to stay!".
She gladly accepted the offer and followed the two brothers. The arrival of the two brothers was immediately spread everywhere. Every former debtor knew about it and also about the story with Saltbaker. But however peaceful it was. Someone had it in for the queen of hell. Or several to be exact. From a distance they saw the tower where the devil was with his queen and both were asleep. "Do you have a good view of them?" asked a deep voice. "No he has put her aside and is showing me his back" said the voice looking through the binoculars. "Let's hope that Silk will pay if we take out the queen or at least get her away from the king".
The battle for the queen's throne was far from over. At least not for Silk. She was still after Alicia and wanted to eliminate her. But since she is now immortal, it was not so easy. Poison and even demon poison could not harm her. So she had to disappear. In the truest sense of the word. Only then could she try and become queen. Let's face it, a dog is better suited as a queen than a wild wolf.
But the devil felt himself and his queen being watched. He used his telekinetic powers to close the curtains that were behind him so that the people watching them would no longer see them. He did not want to lose her that was clear. He had not had her next to him for a while. This time now he wants to use completely no matter what. She lay peacefully next to him and was also happy to be with him again. So if anyone or anything dares to take it away from him, he will hunt them down and raise hell until he is just a pile of ashes. No one will steal my dearest Alicia from me. He pulled her closer to him before falling asleep himself.
